One especially bright night...

Johto was a lively, yet calm region. Some places were bristling with energy, people running about their business and living their lives, and others were quiet and mystical, filled with pokémon doing the same but in their way. Pokémon and humans had been living in Johto since the beginning of time. This was the way it was. Some humans, though, did not want the best for all. Instead they wanted what was best for themselves. Fortunately, there were enough good people in the world to stop them. Unfortunately... there were pokémon who only wanted the best for themselves as well.

One bright night, when the moon was even more annoyingly beautiful than usual, probably because of that Cresselia lady that had been swooping around lately, one pokémon decided he had had enough of all this cuteness and happiness in the world. He wanted screams! He wanted terror. He wanted... something to play with. This pokémon was a Darkrai. He floated down from the sky towards the city of Goldenrod in the night. What would he pick to play with? As if someone had meant for him to spot it, he saw the glimmer of something through one of the few lit windows in the Radio Tower. He floated closer and spotted a giant... pearl? It was laying in a glass case on a desk, as if it was being studied. Darkrai could hear humans speak in the corridor near. Invisible, he flew through the wall and reached through the glass case to pick the pearl up. Sweet. He could sense the strange power coming from it. This would make a great toy. If... if he could figure out what to do with it.

Floating outside again, pearl in hand, he looked around and saw a stand of lonely, pink balloons sitting at the foot of the Radio Tower. The promotion people must have left them there. Ah. Balloons. Who didn't like balloons? Even Darkrai liked them. He carefully took one from the bunch. Now he had a mysterious pearl and a balloon.

Seeing a human walk down a dark street with some small pokémon beside him, something formed inside his head. One of the pokémon seemed to love its trainer, another one seemed afraid of it, and a third pokémon seemed to genuinely dislike the human. There were so many different ways for pokémon and humans to interact and feel about each other. Did humans understand this? Darkrai loathed most humans. He would teach them a lesson. And have fun in the process. If he had had a mouth, all his teeth would have glared in the strong moonlight as the pearl suddenly vanished and a pink balloon, bristling with aura, was all that remained. Darkrai soared higher up in the sky. Oh, the morning would be so much fun...

The next morning...

You are awakened by the sunlight tickling your nose, the wind poking your cheek or something else like that. You are lying on the ground, outdoors, in a clearing in the forest. You can hear the sea... What is this? You were lying in your bed when you fell asleep yesterday! You look around and see a few other pokémon lying in the clearing as well. Pokémon? You realize that you are no longer human. You have become a pokémon. Are you dreaming?

Seemingly from nowhere, you spot a brightly pink balloon in the air above you. And you hear a voice. It's like it's talking to you inside your own head, but all of the other pokémon in the clearing seem to hear it as well. The mysterious voice says:

You'd better make sure the balloon does not pop... if you want to make it through the game alive.​

But as the voice speaks, the balloon floats away above the treetops, out of sight. You have lost it, for now.

So... the game? Are you in a game?

Yes. You are in a game.

In this roleplay, you will play as a young human (from the pokémon world) who have been turned into a pokémon. It is a complete mystery to you. All you know is that there is a balloon... and that a voice has told you to make sure it doesn't break. Other than that, the world is open to you. Johto and Kanto are accessible, and you are waking up in a forest near the sea to the south of New Bark town. As you search for the balloon, or don't give a crap about it and go your own way, you will encounter wild pokémon, trainers who will try to fight or capture you, other humans... and some legendaries that are on the move. Most notably, there is a Cresselia that has been spotted around Johto lately, and there are always the rumors of the roaming legendary beasts who are said to watch over Johto. In Kanto, it's the legendary birds who are said to be watching over the lands instead.

On your journey, the voice (who will reveal itself to be Darkrai's but your character won't know that yet) will speak to you at times. That balloon is the key... to something. What happens if it breaks? Does Darkrai himself even know what that pearl's aura did to the balloon? Will you accept that you are now a pokémon and live your new life, or will you try to get to the bottom of the mystery of your transformation? Whether you decide to keep searching for and saving the balloon, join a trainer who battles in gyms, become a thief and annoyance in the nearest town or try to chase down Darkrai himself... it's up to you and your fellow players in this strange game, to find or create answers to all these questions.

And yes, there is a story behind all this, and parts of it will be triggered after certain events/actions by you, the players.

Rules/Guidelines/-ish

- The roleplay is rated PG-13. No unnecessary gore. No suggestive themes.

- If you want in, submit a Sign Up in THE OOC THREAD and wait for me to either accept or deny you. We will then start playing when I've posted Day 1.

- I will post the start of every new day, in game (not IRL :p) and you will play out the events of your character during that day. Be reasonable, you can only do so much in one day. Interact with the other players, this should not be an RP where you write your own chapter posts all the time and never meet the others. But one or two paragraphs per post is absolute minimum.

- At the end of every day, everyone will get a level, and you will get additional levels if you did a lot that day or wrote very fun/good posts.

- I will play the legendary pokémon, a few humans, as well as my own character. You will play your character and any NPC humans or pokémon you choose to throw into the game. You decide for yourself what wild pokémon it would be reasonable to encounter in each place. The gym leaders are the usual ones (HG/SS) and can be controlled by you like any NPCs.

- We are starting in the Johto region (more specifically, in the forest near the sea, to the south of New Bark town) in the normal game universe. No Pokémon Mystery Dungeon world here. Oh, and there is no Team Rocket.

- Check this map for help to visualize the Johto we are playing in, although we don't have to follow the exact routes. Yes, we can go to Kanto as well.

- You are allowed 6 moves at the same time. Since you are level 10 at the start you will at first only know moves you learn until then. As the game goes on, you will grow in levels and learn new moves, but you must then forget an old one. You will be allowed to learn TM/egg/tutor/whatever moves as well.

- Evolution comes with levels in most cases, and if it doesn't, we'll discuss it.

- No powermodding. When throwing an attack at someone who isn't an NPC, you will let that person determine the reaction.

- Slight bunnying might be allowed... but ONLY when it comes to TIME PASSING. For example, we can't stand in a clearing talking forever, soon we'll have to go somewhere and if one of us takes an initiative and writes that some hours has passed, then so be it. Just be careful so you're not jumping in time when someone would have wanted to act somehow. If you're unsure, ask the other players in the OOC thread (up soon).

History: Born in Ecruteak, baptized by monks there into the Ho-oh worshipping cult, Christopher has been growing up in a family that believes that you should always do your best to help others. He has never questioned this, not even when he started to realize that his older sister had been using him for years, tricking him into running errands and doing stuff for her by saying it was for the greater good and that Ho-oh would favor him if he did. Now his naiveness is starting to wear off as he is becoming a teenager, and he is just starting to have a more skeptical outlook on the world. But he is reverting to his naive self as often as he can, since that's the way that has worked for him all these years growing up.

In school, Christopher does pretty good, even though he isn't always the smartest and pretty childish. He is an oblivious boy that isn't picked on by bullies just because they think he wouldn't realize that he was being picked on anyway, and then the fun would simply be ruined. He does understand though, but he also understand that his happy-go-lucky ways are what keeps him well-liked and sound so he keeps it up.

Other than that, there isn't much more to say about Christopher's history. His parents want him to become either a teacher or a monk. He likes to read, but mostly adventure stories since most educational or otherwise educational books rather easily bores him. He loves the morning and sunrise more than anything, which seems to be the time of day when there are monks running around everywhere in Ecruteak. Since the monks seem to like mornings as much as he does, he'd probably do good as one! Although he thinks the monks are a bit slow and overly serious at times but he guesses that is because they are so very spiritual and... busy being... spiritual.

Personality: Christopher comes across as pretty rash and naive. He is the type to be clumsy and not realize it, or at least pretend he doesn't. You never really know when he's pretending and when he's actually being naive. It's bugging some people. He's kind hearted but may sometimes say things thoughtful people wouldn't though, like actually telling someone their sweatshirt was pretty ugly when nobody else dared to. Despite this, he is generally well-liked. Mostly because... you can't really dislike a boy who wouldn't hurt a fly (unless the fly bit him, of course, then it's WAR), even though he's pretty childish. He loves his parents and his big sister (even though she always teases him) and he misses them a lot now when he is a pokémon. He will probably want to travel home to Ecruteak to find them...

If something scary happens, Christopher wouldn't be the one to cry at first. He would face the danger with ridiculous resolve and maybe even a smile, since he loves adventures... at least until things looked really grim. If someone else started to panic or cry then, he'd probably follow their example pretty fast. He isn't usually afraid of showing his feelings and he doesn't care one cent about what people think of him, or rather he doesn't think about the fact that people can think something of him. Maybe he's still a little too naive to realize it does matter sometimes.

And maybe Christopher isn't really spiritual, but he does believe in Ho-oh, since he's pretty much been raised to do so. He wishes to one day see the big legend with his own eyes, and doesn't listen to his sister when she tells him Ho-oh isn't real. Kind of like a child really believes in Santa.

Likes: Mornings, games and playing, adventures and hearing stories, sweets and cakes.
Dislilkes: Evenings, stiff people who think they are really important, vegetables, blood.

Ariadne looked out on the glimmering waters. Wave after wave bounced in and sprayed the cliffs beneath her. Wet. Not nice. She shook her head and walked away from the cliffs, following the wildside north towards Lavender. She had been traveling on the large bridges at first, but then decided that they were too crowded. She couldn't even stick her hands out of her cape, out of fear from being discovered. The marks on her hands were small, but visible. Nobody had any reason to make tattoos like those, and surely, nobody had believed her when she had pulled that lie.

The weather was a bit dim, with silvery yellow clouds covering the sky and the sun barely shining through, giving the sea a blank but muddily dark look. The sea breeze came in from the east and she stared out in the far distance as she walked, wrapping her coat closer around her. The horizon was visible, behind the large bridges that went all the way from where the eastern Fuchsia road met the southern Lavender road. They were built to connect some small islets and make a better place to travel on, than the rather ruggy and rough wildside where Ariadne now had chosen to travel. With one last longing glance, she went in among the trees and left the sea behind her.

The forest was quiet; the sea breeze didn't reach her here. The eastern sea had fascinated her since she first saw it after she had left Celadon, some years ago. The southern horizon were more interesting to many people, since you knew Hoenn, the Sevii Islands and many other well known lands were there somewhere. But the eastern horizon was where the sun rose every morning. Somewhere far away there, but a bit further north, Sinnoh was. Or so Ariadne had learned from the TV.

She guessed the forest was the home for many other +Pokémas. After all, they weren't welcome in the cities. She only managed to get around there because she was pretty skilled after all at hiding her hands. And to pickpocket things with them, or course. She didn't like the forests anymore... they gave her a creeping feeling in her spine. They... reminded her of that day. When she had ran from her brother. She shrugged. No, she wouldn't think about that now. She was going somewhere.

The rallying in Lavender had piqued her interest from the moment she had heard of it. It was some men in a dark alley in Fuchsia that had talked about it. Neither of them had noticed Ariadne, who had been sitting in the shadowy gutter, eating some rather fine food she had been stealing earlier that day. But after a while, they changed the subject. Ariadne hadn't heard as much as she wanted to. She had gotten to her feet, and the men had been angry with her for listening in to their chat. She had only put on a grin, her teeth shining in the faint moonlight, and called forth the Pokéma in her hands. Her big claws had pretty quickly convinced the men that they better tell her more. They weren't +Pokémas themselves, but they had heard some others talking about the gathering in Lavender, rallied by some man called Janin. One of them were bold enough to say that they would tell the police about it. He went home with a nice, bleeding, flesh wound on his forearm that night. And Ariadne left Fuchsia with a smile on her lips. Finally, somebody who wanted to do something about all this.

She sighed as she remembered that night in Fuchsia many days ago. It had taken her some time to travel east and then north from the city. There had been people everywhere, seemingly. Some had realized she was a +Pokéma, and chased her in the wrong direction until she managed to hide in the old Safari Zone. Stupid people. She hated them. All of them.

She accidentally ripped a small branch off a tree. The Pokéma in one of her hands had activated without her noticing. Was she really becoming that numb? Slightly surprised, she halted and looked up at the tree. It swayed noiselessly. It hadn't done her any harm. It reminded her... of a tree that grew outside her window in the house outside of Celadon... She wrinkled her eyebrows. "Sorry," she said, and dropped the ripped branch at the roots of the tree, before continuing to walk through the green world, without looking back.

History: Ariala was born and raised in a loving but quiet family in Mahogany Town. Growing up she had it easy since her parents were wealthy and she got everything she asked for as well as being a little more spoiled in a family with five older sisters and three older brothers. This however didn't affect her personality and unlike her older brothers and sisters she didn't act like the stereotypical snobby rich kid and had many friends in school despite her quiet disposition. Her outlook of the world was very limited based solely on what her mother and father told her but now that outlook is starting to change. Her parents never told her anything about team rocket and when she found out about them from friends in school she learned that not all people are nice and not all people treat Pokemon well. Her parents tried to convince her that wasn't true and at this stage in her life Ariala is confused about the natures of good and evil in the world not sure what to believe about it herself.

Personality: Ariala is a very quiet and curious young ten year old girl. She's very impressionable and can easily change her views on things based off what she learns and observes from other people. She enjoys being around people who are louder and more talkative since she's a better listener than speaker. In any situation Ariala can come up with some good ideas to help but is most of the time to nervous and afraid to speak up. She's very emotional though and if someone picks on her out she gets hurt or scared she will being to cry and it's hard for her to stop. But aside from that Ariala is a good and loyal friend and will stick by the sides of people she can trust no matter what.

Likes: loud people, anything fluffy, fruits and Veggies.

It was early morning on the day that fifteen year old Caresse Mae Tyler was going to set out on her Pokemon journey. Five years after she originally wanted to. Caresse however was still fast asleep in bed after staying up nearly all night in her excitement.

"Caresse! Time to wake up!" Her mother called up the stairs receiving no response. After several minutes she tried again "Caresse Mae Tyler get up right now or you'll never make it to Nuvema Town on time!" she called louder.

Caresse's eyes shot open at hearing that "Be down in a few Mom!" she yelled jumping out of bed still dressed in pajama's and with terrible bed head. She giggled when she looked in the mirror and carefully brushed out her long and wavy cinnamon brown hair. Within the next five minutes Caresse was dressed and bounded happily down the stairs.

"Caresse come in the kitchen and eat before you go" she heard her father call from the direction of the kitchen.

"Okay Daddy" she answered walking into the kitchen and sitting down as her mother put a plate piled with pancakes and sausages in front of her as well as a tall glass of milk.

"Eat up...all of it" her mother said fussing over her daughter not liking that Caresse was going away but putting up with it because she had to.

"I will mom" Caresse answered and after several minutes her plate was clear and she was finishing up the milk.

"Now your father and I have packed everything you will need in this backpack." Her mother started placing said backpack on the table. "Inside is a tent, sleeping bag, umbrella, clothes, cooking supplies, flint and a fire starter as well as any other things I thought you would need."

"Okay Mom thanks" Caresse said standing and putting the backpack on her back.

"Now you call us every-time you reach a Pokemon Center and make sure you have your inhaler on you at all times....and"

"Mom it's okay I'll be fine and I'll take care of myself. I've regained all my strength"

"I know...I just worry about you" her mom said hugging her as her eyes filled with tears.

"I know mom, but it's time to let me go" Caresse said hugging her mom for a moment before stepping back and hugging her father giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Be careful honey and stay safe" Her dad said as Caresse opened the front door and grabbed her bike from the hall.

"I will dad. Goodbye" She said and after one final farewell Caresse headed out into the early morning light got on her bike and rode off towards the start of her journey. Caresse was thrilled to be finally heading on the journey that had been delayed for five years but she couldn't help but feel a little uneasy as well. As if something was not as it should be. After about an hour of riding Caresse smiled seeing Nuvema town come into view. Upon entering Nuvema town Caresse found the lab parking her bike outside and hurrying inside nearly jumping out of her skin when a woman appeared out of nowhere a tray of Pokeball's in her hand.

"Go ahead and choose one" The woman said and Caresse figured this was Professor Juniper. With a shaky hand Caresse reached out and grabbed a ball a little unnerved by the evil looking smile on the Professors face.

"Come on out" Caresse said a little excitement back as she tossed the ball into the air. A red beam came out of it and in a flash a small grey Pokemon materialized in front of her.

"Minccino!" the Pokemon said happily looking up at Caresse.

"Aww your soo cute" Caresse said with a smile going to her knees to pet the Pokemon. "I'm going to work on thinking of a nickname for you. My names Caresse and we're going to be the best of friends I know it" as she spoke Caresse noticed the lights dimming and Professor Juniper laughing evilly. What's going on she thought as Professor Juniper spoke about a test and six lab assistants burst into the room and Caresse jumped to her feet afraid of what was going to happen.

Name: Kris Kollyns

Pokémon species: Solosis
Moveset: Psywave, Reflect, Rollout, Snatch, Confuse Ray (Egg move)

History:
Kris grew up in Nuvema Town, Unova, with a pretty average life. He grew up with his oddly colored Cyndaquil, Cinder, whom had hatched just days before Kris was born and has blue and white flames, black fur on his back and dark tan fur on his stomache. Cinder eventually taught him to speak to pokemon. Kris was very nice and shy when he was very young, but started to develop more when he started going to school. He became less shy and just a bit more violent, likely because there were more things to provoke him. When he wasn't at scool, he was hanging out with the local pokemon. He got along perfectly with the pokemon, unlike most of the people. He loved pokemon, and pokemon loved him.

As Kris grew up, it was said many, many times that he was very intelligent, but a bit of a procrastinator. His big weakness in school was long projects, he tended to wait until the night before they were due to do them. He also had a bit of a problem when it came to other kids, sometimes getting in fights among other things, which at first made him seem like a bully. When he finally learned to control his temper, kids thought he was a pushover, which only made him angrier.

At age ten he began his pokemon journey. He was accompanied by his partner, Cinder. Cinder was an oddly colored Typhlosion with dark blue and white flames, black fur on his back and dark tan fur on his stomache. They conquered all of the gyms quickly and challenged the pokemon league, losing to his friend, Luna, in the semi-finals. He then travelled to Sinnoh around the age of eleven. He just as easily defeated all of the gyms there, and became a contest star. He managed to make it to the finals in the pokemon league, unfortunately losing to yet another of his friends, Damian. He also made it to the semi-finals of the Grand Festival, losing to the trainer known as Dawn.

He went back to Unova and challenged Luna for the title of champion, winning in an extremely close match. He decided that staying in one spot wasn't for him and let Luna stay champion as he went to explore Kanto and Johto. He didn't participate in the Kanto pokemon league as he decided to obtain all sixteen badges first. He's currently in Goldenrod City, relaxing after just obtaining the eighth Johto league badge from Blackthorn City.

Personality:
Kris isn't the best when it comes to people. He is pretty anti-social and/or shy when around people. When he is around those that he does not know that are older than him, even if just by a little bit, he will usually keep his mouth shut and his head down. Though he is pretty good with little children and babies. When he is around adults he knows, he is a little more himself and and quite outgoing compared to when he's near those he does not know. When around people his age he knows, he is almost completely himself but still has those few things he keeps to himself.

He prefers pokemon over people and is very good with pokemon. They made up most of his friends when growing up since most kids either considered him to weird or too much of an...er, meanie. Kris is also sometimes very easy to anger, which is another reason people didn't really get along with him. When not showing any of these quirks he is actually very smart and friendly, while also sometimes seeming like an idiot.

Likes: Pokemon, Videogames, Nature, Winning, Exploring, etc.
Dislikes: Most People, Pollution, Losing, etc.

Day 1
The Poochyena Pack...​

I had been laying down, curled up next to Cinder when there was a sudden flash of light. I covered my eyes until the light faded. When I looked around, Cinder was standing next to me and all of my stuff was also right next to me. I also noticed a figure that was clad in white armor, but I could not look for more than a second as the armor was gleaming extremely brightly. 'That must be the one that brought me here...the Harbinger.' I thought. The figure disappeared and I could have sworn I saw it smile, which was likely if it was who I thought it was. I walked over to my backpack and swung it over my shoulder, noticing something on my wrist.


It was some sort of watch. It had a small screen and five buttons, on the screen was some text. I began to read;

Challenge 1: Make your way towards the volcano, there you will encounter a Vulpix being pursued by a number of Poochyena. Save the Vulpix by any means necessary. The challenge will end once the Vulpix either perishes or is saved.​

As I finished reading, I pressed the green button that meant 'accept'. I would have rather not gone to the volcano, as it wasn't a very good survival strategy, but I had to. I made sure I had all of my things and Cinder and I headed towards the volcano.​

As we neared the volcano, I could hear the cries of some pokemon. It sounded like a large group of Poochyena, but I could not hear a Vulpix. The Vulpix was probably being drowned out by the Poochyena's cries, so I started to run in that direction. In less than a minute I saw the Poochyena - there were fifteen and they were pursuing the Vulpix described in the challenge. "Cinder, Flamethrower." Cinder leaped in front of me, and then in between the Poochyena and Vulpix. He roared and then released a long stream of blue flames. This caused whatever Poochyena that were still up to scatter in all directions.​

I looked at all of the unconscious Poochyena; five had gone down from Flamethrower. I pulled two more pokeballs off my belt and let out Valiant and Yorkie. "Cinder, go after the four headed north. Valiant, the three heading west, Yorkie, east." I watched as the three pokemon ran off after their assigned targets. I took a moment to absorb my surroundings. I had just come from an area with a large, lush forest that broke off into a meadow of flowers, which then died off and lead here. In front of me was a dim sky and a large volcano. It seemed inactive for now, but not dormant.​

"Cinder, Blast Burn. Valiant, Gust. Yorkie, Fire Fang." I commanded my pokemon as my attention returned to them. Cinder let loose a massive blue and white fireball that exploded and launched all of the Poochyena through the air; they were all unconscious before they even took off. Valiant whipped up a large, swirling wind that made the three Poochyena begin to float, before violently swilring, crashing and falling. Yorkie's fangs had caught fire and he bit all three of his marks. In less than a minute the entire pack of Poochyena was down, and the Vulpix was left there; trembling slightly.​

I walked over to the Vulpix and picked her up. I pet her for a few moments before she calmed down. When she had calmed down completely, I set her on the ground and said, "Go on, you're fine now." She ran off towards the volcano and I headed back to where I had come from.​

When we had arrived at the forest I was at earlier I set down my bag and let out Dream, Hood and Rex. Cinder layed down at the trunk of a tree and I rested my head on his stomache. Dream layed down a few feet away and Valiant landed in the tree above us. Yorkie jumped in my arms and both Hood and Rex layed on either side of me...​

Moveset: Scratch, Leer, Assurance, Dragon Rage, and Dragon Pulse (egg move)

History: Miharu is from Pallet Town, Kanto. Miharu had first started in the Sinnoh region, deciding that the last region she was going to conquer was her own region. In all four regions, she collected all eight gym badges along with getting all of the Battle Frontier Symbols, both Sinnoh and Hoenn. In the Sinnoh region, she made it to the top sixteen, but lost to another contender. After losing, she had gotten an invitation to the Battle Frontier in Sinnoh and beat all of the Frontier Brains. Afterwards, she had decided to go to Hoenn next. It was there where she made it to the semi-finals, but lost against the future winner of the Hoenn League. She had also gotten an invitation to the Battle Frontier there and beat all of the Frontier Brains. She then went to the Johto region, but after getting all eight gym badges she had decided to go straight to Kanto instead. It was after she had gotten all eight gym badges at the Indigo League where she had finally won the tournament, against the elite four, and became the champion of Kanto at the age of seventeen. During her "reign" as the champion, she had battled all of the other elite four and champions of the other regions. As such, she knows many of the elite four members and the champions, but is friends with Cynthia in particular. She is not the champion of the Kanto region any longer after stepping down voluntarily to become a Legendary Pokemon Researcher. She has been a Legendary Pokemon Researcher for two years now and has been able to meet some of the few legendary pokemon that roam around (Latias, Latios, Mesperit, Azelf, Uxie)

Personality: Miharu is called very emotionless at time, due to the fact that she rarely shows emotions aside from apathy, annoyance, and a blank mask. However, she only puts the mask on around strangers or not very good friends. Around her pokemon and friends, she may let the mask down, although the only changes are that she'll smile a lot more. She is very sarcastic and has a very sharp tongue, but usually when she speaks sarcastically, she usually does so with a straight face and even tone so others may believe what she said is not sarcasm. She is also a pretty good liar. Miharu despises arrogance and will do whatever she can to beat it out of someone. If someone is in trouble, she may not help unless the situation is life-threatening since she believes that sort of experience can either break a person or let them grow stronger. However, if you do ask for her help and if you are in a really bad position, she will help. She will, also, do whatever she can to help a pokemon though. She is taciturn, although she does say things when there is something important at stake and will also let you know when you've done something stupid. She is very honest, brutally honest.

Likes: Nature, pokemon, her pokemon in particular, mangoes, reading, singing, researching and writing.
Dislikes: Human nature, in particular human stupidity and arrogance, people who abuse their pokemon

Notes: Has an IQ of 200; she is pretty much one of those "born smart" geniuses who usually don't have to work hard in order to perfect anything that has to do with memorization and learning new things. She usually thinks things through, very quickly, before doing anything and she can usually get information by just reading people or picking up small context clues or hidden messages in the words. She has also very adapt in psychology and uses what she has learnt about the subject in battles. Has studied different martial arts and has incorporated most of them into her own fighting style. She can use practically anything around her as a weapon. Is also a researcher of Legendary Pokemon and cannot say contractions nor the word "you".

Miharu rolled her eyes. "And I am a highly trained figher, in both Pokemon and Martial Arts. And I am assuming that we are going to Sky's place." She glanced at Nightmare and was wondering why the others had to use parachutes to jump. It was only a ten story jump after all. Miharu threw parachute bags at the others who had not jumped, and jumped off the buidling without a parachute. Once she was close to the ground, she rolled and started running. She had a few bloody scratches on her and just a bit of dirt. Nightmare rolled his eyes at his trainer's stunt and smirked. Seems he was a bad influence on her after all. He hit the zombies in the face with a Shadow Ball one more time before phasing through the building and appearing next to Miharu who had caught up the rest.

"You know, that was a wicked stunt you just pulled!" Nightmare exclaimed. Miharu chukled. "Nightmare is getting to be a bad influence on me. That was fun anyways."

History: All his life, Growing up in Blackthorne Tow, Alexander was always picked on as a child by the other neighborhood kids and their respective pokemon, being too "short" and "weak." And it was true, Alexander was the shortest of the kids in Blackthorn, and let's be honest, he wasn't the strongest.

He never had aspirations to be a Pokemon trainer, in fact he tended to avoid Pokemon all together. He gained a phobia of them if you would. In fact, he grew a phobia of a lot of things as a young age. Sharp objects, deep water, fire, the various germs one gets from being outside. The poor kid was sheltered, and his mom and dad were at their wits end.

A good chunk of his life, they tried to get him a little braver, but he simply refused. Why be braver when he could be safe? Why risk life and limb when you could live a little bit longer. Of course, his mother and father gave up, but gave one hell of a fight. They decided to let him live the way he wanted. They couldn't argue with that.

So he fell asleep on the fateful day, not knowing his life was going to change...

Personality: Alexander is a very tricky individual. He's a very frail kid, whose prone to bullying (poor thing, eh?), and rather than try to confront someone, he'll "Shell" up if you will. He's got many fears and many phobias, but only wants to try and better himself for his mother and fathers sake, try and be a little bit braver for them.

Likes: Staying inside, where it's safe
Dislikes: Deep water, most vegetables, wild Pokemon (oh the irony), sharp objects, being bullied...amongst others.

The hot, yellow sun beat down on the poor kid as he limped his way home. Limping, however, may have been a little bit too much but he was hurt. He was scuffed from head to toe in marks, his hair was a mess, and all around looked like he had gotten into a fight. And what do you know, he did? So he opened the house and groaned, alerting his mom and dad to his attention.

"Oh my!" His mother, Amelia, cried as she rushed over to him, inspecting his wounds. "Oh my poor baby, did they do this again?!"

"Mhm," Was all he could muster in a little whimper. At this point, you'd think he'd be used to it. Eh, sometimes you gradually grew into this.

"That is IT." His dad said, standing up and throwing his paper on the floor. "I am going to talk to each of their fathers and-"

"Dad, no," Alexander sighed a little bit, shaking his head as his mother came back with an ice pack. "Don't bother, you know they're going to do it again."

His dad gave him a little, disapproving frown, "Alex, you can't let them keep treating you like this, it's not right! One of these days you have to stand up for yourself!"

"Hm...' he said, scowling as he stared down at the floor. "Don't think it'll solve anything. Then they'll just find new ways to beat me up."

"Alex-"

"Look, can we just...drop it?" Alex asked again. He looked over at his mother, eager to change the subject. "What's for dinner mom?"

"Um..." She blinked, not knowing what to say. "I was thinking perhaps steak or something of the like."

"Mm...meat." he said. "I'm gonna go...wash up."

And with a small sigh, he climbed up the stairs. As he did, he heard the whispered arguments of his mother and father. It was always the same. His dad whispering that they had to do something, or he did, that he didn't deserve to be treated this way, and his mother countered with "He's too frail, he'll get even more hurt if he tries to fight back" kind of thing. It was another day at the Martan house. He was getting rather sick of it, to be honest...

He needed to find a way to fix this whole thing...and fast.

Name: Adam Spencer Locke
Age: 14

History:
Living in the tiny town of Nuvema for his entire life, Adam enjoyed living in nature, amongst the Pokemon who decided to make their home in his, especially the Bug Pokemon, much to the distaste of his somewhat snobbish parents. By the time he was ten, he owned a little garden of his own, where he spent an awful lot of his time, planting plants and fences to keep out any marauding Pokemon, particularly the Bug Pokemon he was so fascinated with.

When he wasn't tending plants, watching Bugs or sleeping, Adam was in a school, learning the necessary skills for what seemed, to him, to be a totally unnecessary occupation- a Trainer. Sure, he LIKED Pokemon, but to own and train them? How can you OWN a living thing? The entire notion was prepostorous to the young boy, and he promised himself that he would NEVER become a trainer.

For this reason, he was an outcast amongst his peers at school. He learnt to just keep his head down and scuttle into a hole when things started to go wrong, which was a lot. He got on with life, living with nature instead of lording over it, until his parents decided to move to Goldenrod, much to Adam's annoyance. Nevertheless, he uprooted his roots and garden, spreading his plants in the fields about Nuvema town to at least keep a memory of him here.

After he had lived in Goldenrod for a year, Adam grew depressed att he lack of wildlife int he city, and his parents constantly tellign him it was too dangerous to leave the city to observe the Pokemon he so dearly missed. He tried to live life like other people, but he never really fitted in, and then came the strange night when he awoke... As a caterpillar.
Personality:

Quiet, thoughtful, and just a bit creepy, Adam is an introverted genius who is unwilling to share his talent, or indeed anything, with the rest of the world. He isn't hostile, but he is so cripplingly sarcastic to people who he doesn't like (i.e, mostly everyone) that he is very difficult to approach and get a good sentence out of. As such, he doesn't have, or need, many friends.

Despite this, he is a gentle and at heart timid person, who abhors violence and abrasive behaviour. However, he is cunning and manipulative, and so if someone really irritates him he'll end up making their life hell through a multitude of lies, creative distractions and painful traps in unusual places. He doesn't see anything wrong with this way of living, as he just sees it as taking revenge for what people do to him- they DO deserve it, after all.

An able and somewhat compulsive liar, Adam has been labelled with the term Machiavellian and at one point Pure Evil by his peers, particularly the stuffy and righteous ones, but this is far from the case- he's simply misunderstood, or so he would say. He does have an unfortunate habit of borrowing things without asking and forgetting to return them, however, and as previously mentioned, a strong sense of vengance.

He does care deeply about his few friends, however, and if someone he knows does need help (And hasn't upset him TOO recently...) he is an able and willing volunteer in most situations, and after he's done, he scuttles back off to whatever he was previously doing.
Likes: -Bug and -Grass type Pokemon, gardening, art, reading, playing the Violin, Clarinet and Piano, and he also has a soft spot for sweet foods.
Dislikes: Pokemon Trainers, sport, violence, people in general, fire and bright things.

"Well, you remember how I told about Elizabeth? You know, that beautiful young lady at the ball last night?"
"Yes..." Spencer rolled his eyes again. It seemed that practically every week Edward had found a new love interest. To be honest, it was quite amusing, but it did occasionally get annoying, when he spoke of "True, never-ending love". The only thing Spencer loved was the glorious country of Mother England, and he was going off to fight in the Americas in three days time. He wondered if Edward would cope there at his side, as he was a raw rcruit to the military. By the time Spencer had lost his trail of thought, Edward had finished his little rave. "...And so we're going to the King's Arms tonight. Isn't that spiffing?"

"Tell me again why I'm here?" Spencer asked, uncertainly.
"Moral support, old chap."
"Ah." Spencer had the feeling that Edward wasn't telling everything that he should have been, but then, when did he himself? Elizabeth entered the restaraunt, and even Spencer, the abstiante and glarish young gentleman from Kent, had to admit she looked good. But her companion was even moreso. With hair as dark as night and eyes as deep as the ocean itself, and skin as pale as the moon but as smooth as anything, he was captivated by this mysterious temptress. "Who is she?"
"That's Elizabeth's moral support." Edward said, with a snide little grin, just escaping Spencer's notice.
"What's her name? Tell me."
"Eleanor de Lorraine, she's from France."
"So I see." Edward grinned at his friends utter enthrallment of the French beauty. This was his plan all along- to finally hitch his friend up witha good-looking girl he so deserved. He just, and only just, suppressed breaking into a bout of laughter. For the moment, at least.

EDIT: About Michaela's SU. Having beaten all the gyms and all the frontier brains and having fought in all the leagues and be friends with the champions and the elite 4s, plus having met many legendaries... that's not a little over the top >.< Sure, in the game everybody beats the gyms and brains, but in my mind we're just a taaaad bit more realistic or at least less unrealistic here. Just a tad bit. But ah, as I already accepted Nakuzami who had also beaten two full regions with gyms, and as we won't be playing with our main characters as trainers anyways, I'll let it go.

One thing though, Miharu won't have met the legendary bird trio or the dog trio. Nope. So, if you take away those pokémon when you're listing the legendaries, you are accepted.

History: Ayu grew up in Celadon City, living only with his mother who worked in the Department Store. Her mother has always worked for the store, so she kind of developed a habit of shopping there. Everyday, her mother would give her her allowance for the day, and she would spend most of it buying things she doesn't really need, like some Potions and Pokéballs even some TMs. She collected them inside her own room in the Celadon Hotel. Her mother would scold her from time to time, but they would never stop her from her habit.

In school, Ayumi had only a few friends. Some of them were Teijii, Shigeru, and Leo. Most of them were boys. She wasn't fond of hanging out with girls. She thought they liked make-up and boys way too much. This is one of the reasons she was called the tomboy of their class. But she was as girly as everyone else in her class. She just didn't like hanging out with girls.

Aside from collecting, Ayu had always had a non-lady-like appetite for food. She just loves eating for some reason, and the weird thing about that is because she never seemed to grow fatter. Her mother has taken her to the doctor several times as a kid because she thought there might be something wrong with her, but the doctor keeps telling them that everything's fine. Still, her mother can't help but just worry. Ayu, on the other hand, didn't see what the big problem was, after all, at least she never had to worry about her weight.

Now, her friends have become trainers and is travelling the region collecting badges and junk, while Ayu continued collecting stuff of her own. Up to this date, she has officially collected 19 out of 26 types of Pokéballs, a lot of all the types of Potions, 6 out of 9 Evolutionary stones, and a whole lot more.

Personality: Ayu is a shy girl, and that is one of the reason she doesn't hang out with girls that much. At least with guys (or so she thought) she didn't have to talk about herself all the time. Most of the time, she didn't need to talk at all. The other guys would talk about something she was not that interested in. Come to think of it, she wasn't really sure if they treated her as a friend. She just hung out with them for no apparent reason. She's also the silent-type, obviously. She tends to slip by a group of people unnoticed, or become invisible in a really thick crowd. Oh, wait. That's still shy. Anyway, like I said, she rarely talks. When she does, everyone listens. Probably because the only time she talks is when she says something smart. And she didn't like that kind of attention. So she just shuts up. Oh yeah, and she's very knowledgeable. She's one of the tops in her school, and one of the reasons she gets more allowance from her mother. (with her scholarship and stuff)

Like I previously stated in her history, Ayu absolutely adores collecting stuff, and finds that she has a special talent for it, even though she gets most of her stuff from the Department Store. She collects to fill that hole in her life that was supposed to be filled with friends and her social life. But she has very few friends (or none at all) and her social life was not that great. Cross that. It was bad. Her mother doesn't really know about this (the "no friends" part) 'cos she's busy with her work. So busy that she had to have a separate room for Ayu and her. But Ayu understands. If it wasn't for her mother working so hard, she wouldn't have had her habit of collecting stuff.

Lastly, she loves eating. On her spare time, from collecting, studying and doing all her schoolwork, she eats. Sometimes she orders, but most of the time, she cooks. She loves cooking just as much as she loved eating her cooked dishes. She would go through a lot of cookbooks and somehow bind them together to create her own rendition of the said dish. She has a knack for it. Sometimes, even, she would go for the exotic foods. I'll give 1 million (insert Pokémon currency here) to anyone who can find an edible food that Ayu wouldn't like. Go on.

Chapter 2~
Part 2
A Rival Revival!​

Shigeru paced down Route 01 with Kai perched on his shoulder and his newly captured Lillipup, who he has decided to name Inu. The Puppy Pokémon seemed to be okay about being caught, but Shigeru figured it was because of the capturing process, which Shigeru still finds quite confusing. From when he started out in the academy until now, he still wanted to know what life is inside a Pokéball. He turned his attention towards the sun. It was setting. He didn't really want to camp out on Route 01, since it's all fields and crops and stuff. He felt more like sleeping in the Pokémon Center, since he was used to sleeping in a bed. He picked up the pace and started to move more quickly. Inu started running as well, to keep up with his new master. Shigeru looked at the puppy.

"I think I better call you back in your ball now," he told Inu as he took a ball from his pocket and pointed it at him. The ball released some kind of red energy that enveloped the Puppy Pokémon and sucked him in. After Inu went back to his ball, Shigeru bumped into something. He thought it was a tree, but as he turned to face what he bumped into, he realized that the "something" was actually a "someone", and that someone was someone Shigeru didn't want to see in his journey.

"Shigeru-kun!" the boy said, "So I guess you passed that battle test after all. Probably out of pity." The boy was the same age as Shigeru, but the guy was atller, probably around 6'. He wears a black jacket with red Pokéball designs on it. His eyes were black and so was his hair, and of course, the one thing Shigeru wouldn't resist be irritated at, he seemed to be always wearing that boastful grin.

"What are you doing here, Teijii." Shigeru told the boy, "Aren't you supposed to back in Pallet Town where you should be." Teijii let out a mocking laugh. He then took out a Pokéball from his pocket and threw it in the air. It opened up in mid-air and let out a creature with what looked like a big bulb on its back. Its eyes glowed red in the setting sun. Shigeru took out his PokéDex and scanned the data out of the Pokémon.

{BULBASAUR: The Seed Pokémon Bulbasaur can be seen napping in bright sunlight. There is a seed on its back. By soaking up the sun's rays, the seed grows progressively larger.}

"Well, while you were screwing up your life, I was chosen to receive this Bulbasaur here from Professor Cedar..." Teijii noticed the Oshawott perched on Shigeru's shoulders and frowned. Shigeru, on the other hand, smiled at Teijii's disappointment. "Well, I chosen to receive this wonderful shiny Oshawott here." he said proudly. Kai hopped off of his shoulders and walked towards Teijii's Bulbasaur. At first they just stared at each other, but after awhile, the Seed Pokémon "accidentally" Tackled Kai. The liitle otter Pokémon fell down flat on the ground. It stood up and rammed the Bulbasaur back. This time, the Bulbasaur fell flat on the ground. Soon, they were face-to-face in an angry manner. They both wanted to battle each other. Kai looked at Shigeru with eagerness in his eyes, and his trainer nodded.

"So hows about we have a little battle?" he told Teijii, and he replid with a smirk. He looked at his Pokémon and the Bulbasaur backed a away from Kai. Suddenly, without any warning, Teijii shouted out his command. "Bulb use Tackle!" And the Seed Pokémon ran towards Kai. Surprised by the sudden action, Kai wasn't able to move quickly and so he was hit square on the chest by the Tackle. Shigeru frowned at the act that Teijii had done. "Hey, that's not fair!" he shouted at him. "Life's no fair" Teijii retorted. Kai stood back up and shaked the pain off. He waited for his trainer's command, which of course he'd had to translate to get his moves right. "Kai, use Ram!" he ordered the otter. Teijii tried to hold his laugh but failed. He laughed so hard some Poochyena started barking. Then, Kai stormed forward to hit Bulb with a Tackle, which he thought was what his trainer meant by "Ram." Too busy with laughing, Teijii wasn't able to tell Bulb to dodge the attack, so the Bulbasaur got hit by Kai's Tackle, making him fly off a great distance and fall on the ground. Teijii noticed what has happened and stopped from laughing. He then returned to his previous state, that really annoying grin. The grin that made Teijii look like everything Shigeru does always fall according to his plan. Bulb stood back up and looked like no damage was done to him at all. Flabbergasted, Shigeru's mouth fell open. "Nice try, but that "Ram" of yours isn't gonna beat my Bulb. That shiny Oshawott of yours is nothing special. He's just an oddly-colored piece of Magikarp. Now, Bulb show him what we've got, use Leech Seed." The Seed Pokémon wore a smirk almost similar to Teijii's. Panicking, Shigeru thought about what he had learned about Leech Seed. [Let's see here, Leech Seed, Leech Seed, Leech...oh no!] "Kai, jump out of the way!" he shouted at his Oshawott. A seed flew out of Bulb's back and shot straight at Kai. The otter stepped out of the way, and he successfully dodged it. Shigeru let out a sigh of relief. He had managed to make out of that really close turn of event. He turned his attention back to the match. He saw Teijii still smiling, even though that Leech Seed had missed.

"Kai, use Aqua Beam!" he shouted. Kai inhaled a lot of air and exhaled a blast of water. The Bulbasaur didn't bother dodging the Water Gun and let it hit him right on his head. He managed to endure the pain, but it was clear that he had been hurt because of the bruise that it had left on his forehead. He shook of the remaining water on him and looked like he was reinvigorated. Shigeru facepalmed. How could he have forgotten about the type disadvantage? This wasn't the time to feel sorry for himself though, so he remained focused on the match. "Hah!" Teijii mocked Shigeru, "I can't believe you just used a water-type attack on my Bulbasaur. Then again, you are pretty stupid. Bulb, use Tackle at full speed." The Bulbasaur stormed at Kai in full speed. [Wait a minute, that's not full speed.] And Shigeru was right. Bulb was running at a normal rate. Shigeru snickered. He didn't bother telling Kai to doge it since Kai pretty much already did. Bulb rolled and stumbled on the ground until he finally fell upside down. Shigeru smiled and managed to hold his laugh. He was too well-mannered to laugh at other people's mistake. Except this one wasn't a mistake. He took a look at Teijii's expression and noticed that he was still wearing that grin on his face. "Do it." Teijii said, and Shigeru wasn't sure what he meant...until he turned his attention back at the Seed Pokémon. A seed was already growing on its bulb. Shigeru did the only thing he was able to do in such a situation. "Kai, watch out!" Too late. The seed flew straight at Kai and landed directly on his forehead. At first there was nothing, then he was wrapped in vines. Soon, he was covered by thin vines all over his body, and after a few moments, energy was absorbed right outta the poor thing. Shigeru's face was full of horror. He just walked straight onto Teijii's trap. Bulb hopped back up and rammed Kai in full speed. Not being able to move, the shiny Oshawott flew a great distance and hit a tree (again). After he fell down, Kai received another shock from the Leech Seed. After that, he just laid down lifelessly on the ground.

Clearly, Teijii had just won the battle. Shigeru quickly called back Kai into his Pokéball for the first time since he let him out of it. "I'm sorry about that, pal. I promise it won't ever happen again." he whispered to Kai's Pokéball. He placed the ball in his pocket and turned to face Teijii. He has returned Bulb back in his Pokéball, too. Teijii faced Shigeru with that boastful grin of his. "Well, Shigeru-kun, I guess I am, and always will be, a better trainer than you." he told him. "That was just pure luck. Next time we meet, you'll be sorry about being chosen to receive a Pokémon." Shigeru replied. Teijii shrugged and walked away from Shigeru. Right after he left, Shigeru thought about meeting him again. It seemed like their rivalry from the Academy had just been ignited again. It was as if the rivalry in them was revived. He knew they'd meet again, so he had to train harder to beat him next time. He turned his attention towards the sun again. The sun was almost down, and stars were popping one by one up the sky. He decided to run this time. Even though he had just been beaten by an old rival, he still didn't want to camp out on Route 01.

History: Born in an average well-to-do family, he lived his whole life in Goldenrod City. When he was young, he accidentally burnt himself and since then, he has been very afraid of fire. In school, he is talented in drawing and sketching and is in a special Arts class. He knew every nook and cranny of Goldenrod City and was familiar with the modernization in the city, unlike most grown-ups who can't understand how the system works. He usually spent his weekends at the Pokeathlon Dome, watching participants take part in the various events with their Pokemon.

When he turned 10, he was given his first Pokemon and became an official Trainer. He did not really take his career that seriously as others did and never challenged any gyms. He frequently battled with other Trainers but most of the time, he bonded with his Pokemon.

One night, he came home late from an event function. He had drunk too much punch that night and fell asleep with an aching forehead. But what he discovered when he woke up the next morning totally horrified him- he had turned into a Pokemon!

Personality: He is not outspoken but neither is he an introvert. He mingles around quite well with people who share the same interests as him. He is not very good at making decisions based on a team of others and does not really appreciates the chance of becoming a leader. He has a calm relaxed nature, but if he is provoked, he can be very hurtful in his words and sharp-tongued. He is very inquisitive and likes exploring unexplored places or anywhere that piques his interest and excitement. He doesn't voice his opinions most of the time unless asked for. He rarely uses violence and would only go as far as to imprint a permanent fist or handprint on someone's face. His movements are quiet, sometimes stealthy if need be, and people often do not know whether he is behind or near them unless he gives himself away.

Likes: Swimming, drawing, computer gaming and reading books.

Chapter 4: Seasonal Greetings from Deerling!

Rowena had made it out of Viridian City and after a long while of walking, she had to admit that she was lost in the middle of route 2. She took Electrux out of his ball as she needed some company and a Pokemon to defend her if need be. "Shin?" The little lion cub asked cautiously, perhaps also sensing the eerie atmosphere around the two of them.

Suddenly, a nearby sound shocked the daylight out of them. Rowena looked around for its source and heard it again. It sounded like a rustling bush, which meant movement. Movement of what? I hope it isn't a wild Pokemon. The Shinx then barked at something at a corner of the beaten path. She caught a glimpse of a four-legged thing behind the hedges. She tried to use her Pokedex to locate the Pokemon but because of the dense trees around them, the device could not track any signal. Electrux yapped again, this time more excited instead of being cautious. Something popped out from behind the bush. A face of a little deer emerged and soon, its whole body. The Pokedex finally blinked a clutter of words but Rowena only absorbed the Pokemon's name as she gazed at it. Deerling. That was what she was looking at. Just then, the fawn vanished into the air. Rowena and Electrux looked around frantically. Was that just an illusion? It felt so real. Then, she caught a glimpse of the Deerling trotted a few metres before disappearing as if it was like transparent glass.

Though his Trainer couldn't find any trace of that pink deer, Electrux could. He licked the air and tasted the Deerling's scent wafting from behind bushes of berries. Somehow, it had managed to change into a colourless figure and light just passed through its body. He stealthily crawled to where the Deerling was hiding. Rowena shouted something to him but his mind pushed all thoughts of her aside and focused on locating this strange Pokemon. He crept silently, his haunches a few inches above the ground. The fawn then appeared this time right beside him. Before he could do anything, it reverted back to its invisible state. He sniffed the breeze and his scent receptors told him that the deer was still in the vicinity but slightly further.

Rowena gave up on finding out what was going on with that Shinx. He seemed to know where the Deerling was as he was right next to it when it reappeared. She decided to let Electrux track down this Pokemon that was capable of avoiding all forms of contact. "Electrux, go find that deer!" The Shinx replied with nothing but a gaze deep in thought. She decided to just leave everything to him. She knew that he might get upset if he thought that she did not trust him. Electrux pawed around in circles, tasting the air before heading straight into the undergrowth. She tried to keep up with him but was slowed down with all the brambles and twigs that tugged at her clothes. She broke them free and scurried after the blue lion cub. Both of them came out into a clearing where it was surrounded by bushes and saplings of berries. Oran, Leppa, Rawst, Aspear, Pecha, they were all around her. Rowena inhaled the aromatic breeze and felt herself slowly relaxing. She then spotted the same Deerling, browsing through the leaves of a Pecha bush. It gobbled up the sweet pink berries. Rowena took a few steps forward and the fawn perked its head up at the sound of her movement. It eyed her for a while before continuing its meal. A few more berries were ingested by the Deerling by the time Rowena was just in front of it. She hesitantly placed her hand on its back. She felt it tensed up but after a while, relaxed its body. It allowed her to pat its back. It was obvious the Deerling was beginning to trust her as if she was her Trainer, but she knew she had to battle it to officially catch it in a PokeBall. She took a stride backwards and talked to the pink Pokemon. "I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to battle you to catch you." It made a movement like a nod that it understood what she said.

Rowena went over to where Electrux was, nosing around in a bush. She beckoned for him to take his place at one side of the clearing. By the time he was there, the Deerling had positioned itself on the opposite side of the clearing. Without warning, the Deerling started to charge at Electrux. He managed to dodge a few feet and went forward to ram the fawn. It stumbled backwards before using its hind legs to kick up a cloud of dust at his face. He winced as sand grains stung his eyes and he shot back a nasty glare. The Deerling cowered slightly before crying out cutely in a high-pitched voice. Electrux flattened his ears for a moment as the Deerling galloped towards him and knocked him off his feet. He went sprawling like a rag Banette to the forest floor but swiftly got back on his feet. Then, he couldn't see a trace of his opponent. Did it run off again? Just then, the wind was knocked out of him from behind and he landed face-first in the soil.

Electrux jumped back up and pounced onto the deerling with a full-body crush. The Deerling was quite strong to keep him on its back but gravity overcame and it staggered to the ground. The Shinx leapt off and gave an insolent look at the pink deer. It did not seem to have its usual effect and the deer pranced towards him at a fast speed. He tried to counter-attack it with his own charging body-slam and both forces repelled each other to the sides of the clearing. Panting slightly, Electrux glimpsed the outline of the motionless Deerling on the forest floor. He knew what Rowena was about to do before she signaled for him to stop the battle.

Rowena extracted an empty ball from her bag and walked over to the still Deerling. She tapped the capsule on its floral tuft and a beam of sparkling red-pink light shot out from the ball and engulfed the fawn in it. The deer was then warped into the ball and left on the forest floor, gently shaking and swaying from side to side. Rowena hoped that friendship would overcome all odds and that this Deerling would be another great friend to her, just like the others in her team.

History: It did not take long for someone to get dreadfully bored of Icirrus City, Unova. This was a well-known fact, albeit one that many of its residents had long since learned to ignore. But as everyone knows, there is always That One, who is never satisfied with the life he already has and always needs to have some kind of bigger adventure, feeling he's "destined" or somesuch... well, for Icirrus, Lars was That One.

He came from what could best be called a model Unovian family, with a father who made good money but somehow managed to be just slightly klutzy, a mother hell-bent on participating in every school activity any of her children will ever see, and a younger sister who is obsessed with everything cute and fluffy... including Pokémon. Lars, on the other hand, was not a good entry into the model Unovian family of the Halberns. Easily excited and just as easily agitated, Lars seemed to be on full throttle all day, every day, and this incessant energy seemed to be matched by no human soul but from Pokémon. And even then, most Pokémon didn't seem to like him, under some unholy curse. They just seemed to... back away. Always.

Except for one.

That one Pokémon who didn't reject him was Shiki, a Deerling he met one day while 'adventuring' near the amazing (but decrepit) Dragonspiral Tower. Like all Pokémon, Shiki had initially been a little uneasy around him -- but that quickly changed when Lars ran across the little Pokémon trapped in a cage made of tree limbs. He rescued her and helped her to hide from the (frankly jerky-looking) Trainer who had come looking for a new member of her team. After that, Shiki was completely convinced in the goodness in Lars, even with the moments where he was rough around the edges.

Those two grew up together. They loved one another. Soon, Lars was ten years old, and Shiki was officially his partner Pokémon. The two had continued to explore, now empowered with the bond between Trainer and Pokémon, for several years. He didn't have anywhere else to go, so he stayed in school -- and attracted several ladies in the process, despite his brash attitude. He grew a 'bad boy' attitude to those who didn't know him, but Shiki always disproved them as soon as she appeared. At the same time, they continued their endeavors into Dragonspiral Tower and nearby Twist Mountain, always bearing a shine for adventure in their eyes that, it seemed, could never be dimmed.

And then Shiki was shot.

Near Icirrus City was a small settlement of men and women who lived more off the fat of the frozen land than most other residents, which of course included hunting their own food. Deerlings were a staple of their diet. Hunters went out darn near every day to find their family's food for the night.

Lars himself barely escaped from his life, but of course, his partner was not so lucky.

The other two members of his team were released immediately afterward -- the first of many signs. Then, he stopped going out as much, preferring to lodge himself in his room, working on the computer or (for quite possibly the first time ever) his schoolwork. Of course, by then he was above the mandatory age limit for schooling, and the next year he dropped out. His exposure to the outside world, and eventually his family, seemed to grow even smaller, even with all of the time that he had freed up. On the rare occasion that someone did see him, his eyes would look sullen and almost dead. Somehow he managed to escape the popular trap of cutting -- or something worse -- but it could be argued that his alternative made underage drinking look like charity work.

And so Lars became a shut-in at the age of fourteen.

It was a long, hard journey to get him to go along with the rest of the family when they all took a charming family trip to Saffron City, Kanto, to see most of their relatives. (These Halberns were the ones present in every family -- one region is simply not enough, despite the fact that the rest of the family is there, and so there must be a move to a different one.) Undoubtedly, after the state that Lars had been left in, this was one of the most terrifying experiences of his life so far... little did he know that he was about to have another one of them.

Personality: As could be easily collected from a quick glance at his personal history, Lars is not the friendliest of people. As a matter of fact, it seems like he's almost scared of them, preferring to stick to his own business. It's hard to say where exactly his mental state went to after the nine-point-o earthquake that was Shiki's death, though at first glance he just seems to be a quiet but dreadfully pessimistic (sometimes swerving into melodramatic territory) young man, easily swapped with any other with the same result. He does not enjoy human company at all, and has indeed only repelled humans and Pokémon from him further. Obviously, he is not accustomed to traveling much at all anymore, after over a year of solitary confinement in his home; when placed out of his comfort zone, he begins to panic, rising in intensity from merely squeamish to downright sour.

Likes: Most activies that do not require physical human or Pokémon interaction. Alternatively, lurking the Internet.
Dislikes: Anything. Everything. You.

One would think that, upon entering a place of food, it would smell nice. Or at least something tolerable. Instead, Faust and Emily were presented with a charming serenade of perfume and deodorant, nauseating chemical smells and rotting food hiding somewhere in the corners or in the trash bins. One would think that at a high-end place like Phoex Academy they would have more tolerable cafeterias, but such can only be desired.

Faust slipped through the line as everyone else did, smiling to himself when a particularly flaky little fifteen-year-old trotted off with a high-and-mighty expression as soon as he came anywhere near. Though it was surprising the number of people who weren't like that, considering this was a school for Coordinators. It was something to be grateful for, he supposed -- heavens knew what the ordinary places were like. Presumably everyone here was 'good' enough to not fall into those sorts of traps, so what happened to everyone who wasn't so accomplished?

Bad things, he thought with a wicked grin, bad things that he was not going to take part in.

Faust took his selected meal over to a mercifully empty table, letting Emily chew happily on an apple she had snatched up for a snack. Though of course Sableyes got the most nutritional value from rocks and minerals, he had not replenished his supply in quite some time; besides, she loved nothing more than to eat things that she technically wasn't supposed to. Apparently there was something attractive about unnatural flavors that not all Sableyes shared... his little friend just had to be the one with the love for messy food. She also happened to be the one who wore a cloak that he had sewed for her because she didn't like getting cold... and which got stains on it all the time from her tendencies to eat foods she wasn't supposed to.

It was a neverending cycle, you see. But anyone who had ever owned a Sableye would know that once one is set in its actions, nothing short of a nuclear war would shake it from the path.
