Well, it could be worse. We were referencing bondage porn before people started posting topics again.
What do you think of using chatspeak (i.e. :) or XD) in reviews?
As long as you actually say
something in your review, I don't care. I add smilies too, if appropriate.
Of course, also note that a smiley does
not soften the review. If you still say something along the lines of you think someone's story sucks, no matter how many :)'s you put in your review, it still says it sucks.
How do you feel about SPAMmy reviews? (ex: Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! filer filer filllllerrrr filler lol)
To give you an idea, someone once responded to a fic of mine with nothing but "tl;dr." I lol'd.
Can't get any spammier than that.
Of course, if you mean the FFNet-grade, sugar-coated crap review, then I just sigh and offer a vague thank you when I respond to the reviews I've gotten. I know they probably didn't read my fanfic (or otherwise can't be arsed to prove that they did), but I really can't tell them to post something longer. I wish they would, though. It's always nice to hear specific comments from people dissecting the crap out of my work.
If, however, it's saying my story sucks in one line, I demand an explanation. Yes, bratty, but come on. You think my story sucks. You think my writing sucks. I really don't know which. And it's going to keep on sucking unless you tell me what it is you thought that sucks because how am I supposed to know otherwise?
Anyone ever just find that one song or album that clicks with their story?
Absolutely. Most of my serial fics actually have soundtracks full of songs like these. Sometimes, they also include opening and ending themes as well because I have no life.
One shots sometimes have songs attached to them, but usually, I don't actually work with one in mind.
