So, Azama. This guy has a base strength of 9 as a Monk. If he reclasses to an Apothecary, that jumps to 15. If you reclass to Vanguard, it jumps to fucking 19 at Lv. 7. Gaining one level almost assures a strength proc and gets Heavy Blade. Making that strength stat at a grand total of 23 at Lv. 8. Holy shit. He has to deal with E-ranks for a bit, but once he gets out of that rut. HOHOHO. OHKO GALORE. I paired him up with Hinoka to fix that speed and realized GS bonuses for Vanguard are +5 STR and +3 DEF. This is absurd.
Originally, I thought Nyx would be a great unit just giving a quick glance at her bases and growths. Of course, that quickly changed when I put that into practice, leading to my opinion regarding Nyx to be rather unfavourable. Similar situation with Rinkah. Looking solely at the her stats on paper, I said she was bar none one of the worst characters in Birthright (perhaps Fates in general, because she's even worse in Revelations). But, putting it into practice should lead to different results, right? Hell no. This girl has an abominable start; just everything about her comes up short. You fix her SPD? She can double, but she does no damage. You fix her STR? She can't double, and her damage is still the equivalent to a light slap because E-rank Axes; bulk gets sketchy as well. When Sakura has a higher base STR growth than you, we have a serious problem. Not only does she have fake abs, she has fake biceps. Her only virtue is that she starts off as an Oni Savage without the use of reclass.
Setsuna is a lot better than I expected? STR gets a little sketch at times, but tonics and Steel Forges easily fix that problem, AS penalty doesn't really bother her either (75% SPD growth as an Archer, jesus), so victory, victory~. Archers are growing on me. Actually, bows in general are growing on me.
I tried to use Hayato. I really, really tried. Theorycrafting here, he technically should overtake Orochi in the long run with SPD and DEF, making a very bulky mage - something that Birthright enemies have a problem against, bulky 1-2 range really ruins their day - you can go one step ahead of this to reclass him to Oni Chieftain, making him even more ridiculous. Problem is, he does little to contribute at base. Thankfully, he starts out with D-rank, and he hits the less common RES stat. Except, that MAG of his really holds him back. If we raised it by like 2 - 3 points, I think there would be much more incentive to use him (this requires a rebalance for Orochi as well, but eh).
Also, after playing Conquest's paralogues, and experiencing Birthright's again. Kill me now. Like legit. Some of these are just horrid.
