In the European versions of Platinum, the Veilstone Game Corner's slot machines cannot be used. This happens at least in the German and Spanish versions. I don't know how it is in the English, Italian and French ones.
The reason could be the legal age.
If you try to use the machines nothing happens. Sometimes there are some coins you can take.

I don't think it really matters since the Game Corner was just a big waste of time anyway.
You could get a US cart, but I think having Kecleon's ability spelled Colour is totally worth it.

    Worth it by a tonne.

Wakachamo informed me about this through Twitter, and I responded that getting rid of the slot machines is ridiculous. An hour later, the opinion still stands.

This is ridiculous. Can you at least still buy the coins or are you forever stiffed out of being able to buy those TMs?

They could've at least replaced it with a non-gambling-based minigame. Heck, they should offer something like that in ALL countries! The slots are annoying but necessary.

It would appear that you receive a random amount of coins when you engage a machine. Stopping you from obtaining the TMs would be going too far. o.o

Wow, that's kind of dissapointing for the people who like to be in the Game Corner. Of course I don't really go to the Game Corner but it is kind of sad for the people who actually love to go there.

This is the closest to hilarious pokemon has been to in a while. You can buy and overdose your pokemon on non-OTC drugs but not play slot machines?

You can still buy coins and get the Corner's items. But wasn't there a move obtainable by playing on a slot machine?

That is stupid, removing it because of "legal age."
There's many people that are over the legal age that play Pokémon... I am not at the legal age of going to the Casino and I don't wanna go spend all my money at the casino when I'll be able to go to it...

Also, it was available in the GBA, GBC and Diamond/Pearl versions of the game in Europe, so why should they suddently change it to unavailable in Platinum?

What the... Christ I'm swearing but I know I cant write it.

This is absolutely terrible. This is just telling me I should no longer wait for release in the UK and just import from the US. I did it for Diamond, I should of done the same but no I gave in and thought I should support Nintendo's european division.

What a mistake this is sounding..hopefully this isnt true.

Edit: Complaint email sent to Nintendo of Europe. Although it'l definitely do nothing, this needs to be vented. I'm now importing all first party games from this day on.

Bang on, good for you. That's ridiculous. I can't believe it.. Crap, they may do this for HG/SS. For christ's sake this is stupid.. I can't afford to blow all my money on coins i could win in the first place..
Tbh i never used the game corner much, but this is too far, many of us have been playing since the start, and are now approaching the legal age- what the heck, they're going backwards... *furious*

I hope this isn't true for the UK version because I am quite a fan of the games corner; remember it from Red and Yellow where i would spend ages saving up for the rare pokemon on offer!

Even though it has kind of fallen out of favour in my pearl game i still go there now and again to play for a few thousand coins now and again until i built up my total to buy something. I am too busy spending all my money on pokeballs anyway!

Bah - ranty emails and letters will be send if they have changed it.

Oh dear. Either it's censorship gone wrong, someone's 'bright' idea, or maybe somehow problems came up with it just before so they had to do a quick 'fix' - but I doubt that, considering it's pretty much the same as DP. =/

In Australia, even for DP the game's rating got bumped up a touch (to G8+ or something) due to the game corner, but I don't believe it was taken out. Which makes WAY more sense than taking out the minigame itself. Sure, it's a minor part of the game, but nonetheless a minigame which can offer some entertainment to people. And I do recall the move Explosion being obtainable from getting 10 straight 'wins' with it... how does that work out now? =/

My condolances to you if it's the case.

Irony. Not only did it blow up in your face, but the U.S. division is merging with the European division anyway... harsh.
