Sakura was startled awake by the sound of the alarm bell. What's going on she thought worriedly getting out of bed quickly. Slipping on a pair of slippers quickly she grabbed her pink dressing gown from the end of the bed and put it on over her white nightgown. no time to change she thought grabbing her cane, though she still slipped the sakura blossom into it's usual place and looked down at Fia who was glancing warily at the entrance to her tent. "It'll be okay Fia" she spoke softly drawing the dagger from her bag just in case.

"Feon...leafeon" Fia yipped at her and Sakura sighed.

"I wish I could understand you Fia" she murmured before exiting her tent. "Rodrick what's going on?" she asked looking around to see guards in a panic, she saw a girl fighting what looked to be a Poochyena and a Mightyena. She also spotted Ser Guirmean's Scyther prepared to fight.

"My lady, the camp is under attack, you should return to your tent we will keep you safe" Rodrick responded to her and Sakura frowned.

"I'm helping Rodrick, I won't let everyone else do the fighting, I'm here to help with that" she insisted crossing her arms. Within moments Rodrick had sighed telling her to go to the tent next to Haru's and get Ser Guirmean. Nodding she made her way over there quickly stopping outside the tent. "Ser Guirmean, the camps under attack!" she called out so he could hear her inside the tent. Though she hopped he wasn't still asleep.

Suddenly though Sakura heard a fierce growl followed by a much softer one. Turning quickly she saw two Mightyena's growling at her, with Fia growling right back. "Fia....Leaf Blade" she ordered holding her dagger in a tight grip. Immediately the leafs on Fia's head and tail glowed a bluish green and formed long sharp looking blades. With another growl Fia ran forward and slashed both Mightyena's with the leaf blades. One of the Mightyena's growled right back at Fia and ran forward biting Fia's ear getting a yelp from her Leafeon. The other one turned to her and with a growl pounced at Sakura teeth barred "H-HELP!"

  • CYRUS DROGANNI
    cherrygrove village - local inn

The accommodations the prince had within the local village inn were a far stretch from the luxuries he has known since birth. Growing up as the crown prince, Cyrus was accustom to the plush lifestyle of royalty, and since he was never permitted outside the sights of the palace he knew nothing of the poverty that plagued parts of the realm. Yet even as a chilled breeze crawled its way through hidden cracks in the walls and the rickety wood bed was made with a thin, tattered quilt that frayed on the ends, he found a sense of comfort in the homely atmosphere of the room. It was the work of a man who struggled to put bread on the table at dinner to feed his family every night, and he who laid his weary bones down in a house desperate for repairs. Cyrus respected that with every inch of his soul, and he felt it in him to pay the inn far more than what was required of him.

As day melted into night and the moon rose steadily in the sky, his heavy eyelids began to droop and the prince fell into the temptations of sleep. Yet as the night drew onward, his rest was that of a fitful one. The young man twitched and tossed in his unconsciousness and wild limbs lashed out towards an unseen foe. Soft whimpers escaped from trembling lips that roused the other living entity in the room. Aurora, from her spot curled at her partner's bedside, immediately felt a sense of unease as she was awoken from her own drowsy stupor. With a thrust of her wings she levitated herself off the ground and surveyed the room with sharp eyes. The Pokémon soon realized that the cause of her panic was coming from her distressed human counterpart, who struggled beneath the bed covering as it clung to his damp skin.

She pressed her head against his warm cheek and nudged the prince, "Gon…"

With a chocking gasp, Cyrus' eyes spot open and he leaped up into a sitting position. Sweat rolled from his body in waves as he shivered from the after effects of the nightmare. Fiery red hair stuck to his face and neck and all he could feel was heat radiating from his own body. His breathing was harsh and shallow as if he had been running, and he dropped his head into unsteady hands while trying to regain composure.

"Gon," Aurora cooed as she maneuvered her head beneath his arm.

After taking a few deep breaths and feeling his erratic heartbeat find a stable rhythm he let out a soft sigh and gave the Dragonair a half-hearted smile, patting her head affectionately. "I'm alright, girl." It had been a while since he last dreamt like that. The horrors of the night followed him months after his mother's departure from this world, but they disappeared over time. Perhaps it was due to this journey dragging up old horrors and even older memories.

Cyrus untangled his lanky legs from the bedspread and swung off the bed, bare feet touching soundlessly on the floor, and made his way to the backdoor. Thankfully, his room was on the second floor of the inn, and was fitted with a small balcony that overlooked one of the alleyways. As he stepped out on the weathered wood planks he felt the cool night air dance off his warm skin. It felt nice. He gripped the railing and leaned into its touch. Below, the streets were deserted for the night and only patrolmen walked its cobbled ground, illuminating the shadows with fiery torches. The prince watched listlessly as a guard walked the alleyway beneath his balcony before slowly disappearing around the corner. Behind him, Aurora slithered out beside him, sharing the silence between them.

"Sorry for waking you," he said sadly. She brushed against his leg in response to show she didn't mind.

With another drawn out sigh he turned to head back inside, but a flicker of moonlight caught his eye. Squinting his eyes he could see a dark figure on a roof not far from the inn. Peculiar. What would someone be doing up there at this time of night? Straining further Cyrus tried to get a better look at the man (or woman) when he heard the flutter of wings, and with it dozens of dark-type Pokémon flying towards the inn. It was clear instantly that they held nothing but malice in their eyes as they swarmed the village.

Cyrus jumped into action. "Attack! We're under attack—!" His yelled warning was cut off as the body of a Murkrow slammed brutally into his side, sending him tumbling backwards onto the ground. He felt the sharp talons of the bird slice through the sleeve of his white tunic and felt a quick flash of pain before the Pokémon was blown away from him by the small tornado Aurora conjured.

"Thanks," he breathed, clutching his arm tightly. He got himself into a sitting position and nodded to the door. "You need to go warn Rowan."

The Dragonair hesitated, looking between the door and her injured partner, and shook her head. "Go now!" he commanded, and with one last look at Cyrus she took off for Rowan's room.

  • ♚ Rowan de Corbeil / Rex
    Cherrygrove village

Rowan was awoken after several hours of sleep at a faint scratching against the door out to the balcony. His eyes slowly fluttered open as he lay for a moment, staring up into the ceiling. He had gone to sleep, dressed in his clothes, but obviously having taken off his armor and weapons. Since he was little, he'd been taught to do so, to prepare him in case he had to rush out of bed to go defend the town, or his prince, as it came to be later on.

He slowly climbed out of bed, softly stepping over to the balcony door as he furrowed his brows, listening to the insistant scratching against the door. Slowly reaching for the door's handle in the nearly complete darkness, but just as he grabbed the handle and was about to turn it, a thump emitted from his front door, with the voice of his prince's Pokémon calling out in a rather desperate tone.

Rowan let go of the handle of the balcony door and hurried over to the door leading into the hallway, and as soon as he opened it, he knew something was wrong. He hadn't noticed before due to the scratching and his grogginess, but he was definitely hearing fighting and screaming throughout the inn. Cyrus' Dragonair was outside of the door, whimpering up at him. "Gon, nair!"

The fact that Aurora was here and not by Cyrus' side did not bode well. "Aurora? What's going on? Is Cyrus alright?" The Dragonair whimpered and whipped her head towards Cyrus' room. Rowan grit his teeth and nodded. "Go back and protect him, hurry! I'll be there in a minute!" With that, Aurora scurried back to her companion while Rowan ran over to the cupboard where he had undressed and started clipping the armor onto his forearms, shins and whatnot, as well as tugging on his coat and fastening his sword belt around his waist.

As he was getting dressed, the scratching at the door had turned into a frantic, almost feral sound as whatever was out there cawed and screeched, slamming against the door in order to get in. Just as he had put on the final piece of armor, a Mukrow burst in through the door of the balcony, cawing and clawing at him. Rowan managed to duck under the attack, reaching to his sword as he drew the sleek, heavy-handed blade, giving the crow a glare.

"I don't have time for you! Begone!" The Mukrow cawed again and dived for him with its claws outstretched. Rowan managed to parry the attack with his armored gauntlet wrapped around the back of his forearm before slamming away the Mukrow. The bird hit the wall and fluttered as it gained air again, but before it managed to attack once more, Rowan drew the blade through the air, sending it cawing weakly to the ground.

Rowan took a deep breath and stared at the feral bird before dashing out the door, sharply turning and moving in through the open door to Cyrus' room. Thankfully, his friend was still alive, although he looked to have been hurt. Rowan quickly moved up in between him and the balcony door while glance back at the hallway as well.

"Your highness, we have to get outside! The Pokémon are better at maneuvering in here, and Rex isn't able to get in! We have to get out of here, -now-!"

  • Ser Guirmean Bevan - Guardian of the Forest

All was peaceful at the camp while Guirmean lay silent in his tent. Shrouded by his green cloak, only his body's faint movements from breathing gave away that the form was a living being. A low growl, barely audible from a distance, began to stir outside of the tent and moved closer towards the Guardian. Slowly, the shadow of a head peered in from the entrance flap, the low growl becoming a bit stronger with the scent of man enticing it to attack. The would-be assailant ceased its snarling and prepared to pounce.

Unknown to the attacker, Guirmean had been awake the whole time and was suspecting an attack and was still donning his armor. The man quickly sat up from his sleeping façade gripping his dirk in his right hand. The intruder, a Poochyena, lashed out with his teeth in the typical canine approach and aimed for the Guardian's throat. Through his years of scouting the vast forest of his home, protecting his neck from predatory Pokémon became an almost instant reaction. His left arm raised, and caught the Poochyena's bite with his vambrace.

The Pokemon's fangs clamped down on both sides of the armor with a few stray fangs slightly cutting the one unprotected portion of his forearm's underside. No blood was drawn from the attack, but the discomfort caused by the sharp teeth grazing the skin was felt. "…Hmm…this isn't that weed from the Sky Kingdom with the eye patch and Gengar." Truth be told, Guirmean did not trust Carmine based on his looks alone and in the hustle of the day prior, did not have time to speak to the lowlife.

The Poochyena, jaw latched onto the Guardian, was open to attack. Seizing the opportunity, Guirmean slid the dirk in between the hyena's rib cage. The Pokémon let out a yelp before releasing the man's arm from the clutches of its jaw. As he noticed that the alarms were being triggered around him, Guirmean came to the conclusion that this was an ambush, not a random wild attack. A familiar voice outside of his tent attempted to convey that the camp was under attack, though he couldn't decipher who it was at the moment with his preoccupation. Quickly, Guirmean pulled his weapon out of the attack Poochyena and kicked the dark Pokémon outside of his tent.

In a small bit a fortune, the hyena's flying body managed to collide into a pouncing Mightyena, which halted the trajectory of the stronger evolved Pokémon. Guirmean was not far behind, and he emerged from his tent with his bloodied dirk ready to fight. "Princess Sakura, stay behind me!" he said loudly to the petite noble woman. He positioned himself in a protective manner in between Sakura and the three dark canines. The Poochyena was having difficulties standing back up from due to its wound, but both Mightyena snarled at the two humans and Sakura's ever faithful Leafeon companion.

As the old saying goes, a wounded animal is a dangerous animal, and the small Poochyena lashed out one more time at the group. Before the pooch could get near, Dearc flew madly into the fray and used Fury Cutter on the already injured Pokémon. The two Mightyena were startled by the Scyther's interruption, but continued to focus their attention almost entirely on the Princess, possibly a natural instinct to target the assumingly weaker pray. Before any attempt to strike could be made, an arrow soared into the flank of a Mightyena. It let out a small cry before turning its head to meet the new assailant. Ser Rodrick stood many yards away with his bow drawn, preparing to fire off another shot.

Once Haru left the apothecary, he had tried to find Ser Bevan with his Meganium, Fiore. He spent much of his morning running around with his pokemon all over the capital city of the Forest Kingdom, trying to catch Ser Bevan before he left to give him the medicine he would need for his Scyther and maybe tag along with him as well. Haru became very unhappy to find out that Ser Bevan had left much earlier than he did to set up camp. His mood didn't improve when he found out he was the only one of the Forest Kingdom party that had yet to depart.

Compared, to everyone he was basically late and Haru never liked being late. Being an apothecary, punctuality was an important thing. Leaving a medical concoction cooking for too long could have disastrous effects. The worst case scenario would be that the medicine turned into a deadly poison and the best case being that the medicine did nothing and became nothing more than a beverage. Being late also affected the receiver of the medicine. Many people don't realize that the sick, don't have much time, especially those who could die from particular ailments. Haru would know, someone nearly died because he wasn't able to create the medicine a customer desperately needed in time. Nearly getting a customer killed really shook Haru and he learned from his mistake and the lesson of punctuality. Because of this, he never liked being late.

Night had fell across the region and Haru was considering setting up his own minicamp and resume his journey tomorrow. However, he had seen silhouettes tents standing proud in the distance, so instead of setting up camp, he decided to make the final strides into the camp. When he arrived with Fiorre, no one was protecting the encampment, which he found strange until he heard the screams and shouts coming from inside. Haru and Fiore ran inside to find the camp to be in utter chaos. There was much shouting that ran through the air and sounds of clangs and tired breaths followed. The realness of the situation didn't hit Haru until he saw a pack of Mighteyna and Poochyena attacking the residents of the camp.

"I'm late," Haru mumbled in shock. Flashes of the man he nearly let die because of his punctuality flashed across his eyes and then an image of his father even passed by, "I'm always late."

Haru felt a nudge from Fiore that shook him out of his stupor, "Meganium!"

He then slapped himself, "Right. We are here now, that's what matters."

Haru then heard a howl of pain and turned into the source. His eyes then immediately met the eyes of Princess Sakura and his eyes widened. He then took in Ser Bevan who fought off a poochyena with his scythe and then his eyes caught of an archer, he recognized as the princesses loyal guard, Ser Rodrick. He was preparing another shot for a Mightyena, but after seeing his comrade shot, the hound ran faster and at this rate, Rodrick would be mauled.

    "Fiore, Magical Leaf!"

The Meganium nodded and stomped the ground with his giant feet. The flower around his neck glowed with a green light and then let out a cry. A barrage of black leaves shot out of the glowing flower and sliced the charging Mightyena. The hound let out a cry of shock and then in pain as it fell to the ground with a plop.

  • Sin Rascalwolf || Cherrygrove
    Chapter 2.1: Stone the Murkrows

When Sin Rascalwolf managed to locate the place where he will stay (accompanied by a few more identification, which only consists of showing the letter) Sin laid down his things. Seafarer took a spot next to his trainer, circling the ground to soften it. The duke could hear a few muffled shouts on the campgrounds as people were rushing their last-minute routines for the day. Seafarer was already emitting deep growls from the bowels of its voice box, indicating it was asleep. The monotony of the area lulled Sin to sleep. The crackling of the dying fire, the soft stomps of people, the cawing of Murkrows and Vullabies, Seafarer growling...

    Wait what.

Sin opened his eyes and turned his ear. He was not mistaken. Those were Murkrow and Vullaby cries. These two birds were pretty rare in the region, appearing only on fields after a great battle to salvage the loots. Why are they here?

Someone suddenly shouted. "Controlled flock! We're under attack!" Several people hustled outside, shouting several incomprehensible sounds. Suddenly, the sounds of battle were made cleared. Several voices were shouting. Sin stood up and grabbed his sword. "Seafarer!" Seafarer woke up with a growl. The two of them went out. Everything was chaotic. There were a bunch of birds attacking the camp. He already saw several soldiers out cold.

"To me!" He shouted. Sin Rascalwolf entered the fray.

Olivier awoke from his doze in silence. He checked his swords and sighed, pulling them from his back for the second time that night. He would prefer to fight the close way and end this, really, he would. But... As people awoke and screamed and chaos began to reign, Ollie realized he didn't have much of a choice. He tapped Vivio on the head and she opened her eyes slowly and buzzed. "None of that, my friend. We are killing." She nodded. Just like him, she understood killing. "We cannot treat them with dignity, which is sorrowing. Also, your shining tactics won't work here." She gave him a chirp of undignified rage and he patted her head.

"It's all right, we have other ways. Now then, shall we go? I'm certain the prince will need help at some point." He rose to his feet and a bird noticed, diving down towards his head. Vivio's wings sliced the air and shockwaves knocked into the bird. Ollie smiled and hurried onward, letting her soar over his head and practically dance through the sky.

    Then, he whistled.

She dove to grab at his sides and lift him into the air. Ollie pushed off the ground as a Murkrow shrieked, talons aimed toward his chest. He slashed at its chest, throwing it to the side. "Keep low Vivio darling," he crooned. "Don't want to disappoint our Father and end with so few accomplishments. Now... do you smell your kin?" Vivio chirped and dove low, close to the tents. "There, dear?" She put him on the ground in reply and he smiled.

Ollie saw a bird diving into the window of the inn and then heard a noise. Well, no guesses as to who that was. Vivio answered his gentle push on the ground with a burst of speed and Olivier stabbed forward with his right blade, piercing a wing and sending the Murkrow flying to the ground. Seeing too men inside, one with red hair and injured, he smiled. "I would suggest haste, sers. Elsewise there will be reinforcements."

  • chapter two: HAZEL // Forest Base Camp.7

A facedown. Hazel and Trump were standing across from a Poochyena and a Mightyena, each in a threatening stance. For a few seconds, nobody moved, but the Poochyena was the first to lose its cool and it lunged straight at its human target. Hazel had been waiting for the attack, and at such she managed to swiftly turn out of the way and slash at the Poochyena with her sword. She only managed to graze its ear with her blade, however. At the same time, Mightyena jumped in for a follow-up attack, but Trump managed to jump in between and hold off the beast with a Night Shade attack. Of course, due to the bad type matchup, it hardly hurt; Mightyena was startled by the sudden mirage, but that was really the only effect reached. They needed to get some actual damage done.

''Trump, quick!'' Her Pokémon knew exactly what to do. While Hazel held the hyenas off by threats with her sword, Trump's diamond eyes glistened and it created a small and weakly lure-light in between its hands, and set it free. The Confuse Ray proceeded to float towards the Mightyena, slowly bringing it in a sort of trance. Its Poochyena sidekick knew what was going on, however. It ran up to its partner and with a loud Howl relieved the Pokémon from its near-confusion. If only they had known this would prove to be an advantage to Hazel and Trump; both Pokémon watched in a mixture of awe and fear as the red jewel on the Sableye's chest lit up brightly. At the same time, it opened its mouth to reveal a broad but sinister smile; the use of Power Gem was imminent. A bright and powerful beam of gems was shot out of the Pokémon's ruby, blinding the two hyenas with its sudden luminosity as well as effectively stoning them. The canines let out a pained whine and made to flee the area. Being greatly slowed by the disorientation caused by their blinding, it was an easy task for Hazel to finish them off; the swift use of her sword was enough to stop their suffering and make sure the two Pokémon wouldn't ever come to harm others again.

But the extreme brightness of the Power Gem attack was sure to have attracted unwanted attention. Hazel called Trump and together they swiftly made for their destination: the camp in the distance that had lit up upon the sounding of the alarm bell. Several screams for help had been hearable for a while now. Hazel only hoped to make sure her fellow warriors of the Skies and the Forest had not perished. Though she was also weary; Hazel had not yet been able to make herself known to the others. Especially because her Sableye was part Dark, she was well aware she could be perceived as a potential threat by the rest of the entourage.

    Melisandra Bernières

Sleep was not restful, nor did it come easily that night for Melisandra. The incessant buzz from the bugs of the forest rang vociferously through her ears, haunting her waking moments. How did these forest dwellers tolerate this monstrous noise? Maybe to them it was a faint, omnipresent noise in their life. But to her, to Melisandra's sky-born ears, it was an overpowering force. Her makeshift bed was a mess, the flimsy and slightly itchy blanket was strewn about her body, and pillow placed firmly over her head to block out the noise as best she could. Between little bouts of waking and sleep, she could spy that Drifter was happily dozing in the corner of the canvas walls, seemingly ignorant of the cacophony that drove her mad. She envied him in that moment, wishing they could just switch places for the night. Of course, if he so desired, he could have elevated himself above the noise and slept on the near silent currents of air overhead. She had a suspicion he had stayed for her benefit.

Just as she gave up the thought of even attempting sleep, another noise began to add itself to the mix, bells. Was she hallucinating? Who would be ringing bells at this time of night. Surely the church of Arceus had no monastery out here. And if they did, it was highly unlikely that some meddling monk would be ringing the bells at this hour. The soft sound grew louder and stronger. Soon, it was merged with the sounds of screams and shouts, the bugs no longer being the dominant sounds in the late night air. In fact, she could hardly hear the bugs at all anymore. Something was wrong.

Jumping out of bed, she stumbled to the ground and hit hard against the floor. Her blanket had become tangled about her legs, tripping her as she tried to move. Cursing its maker, she pushed herself up and tried to spy her equipment in the dim light of the tent. Drifter had already awoken and began to look searchingly with his crimson eyes. He bounded to her side and seemed to relax when he saw that she was okay.

"Come on, Drifter." Melisandra slipped on her boots and ran out of the tent, not taking the time to fully change out of her evening wear. It was not a time to worry about modesty, or appearances. She knew it was a most unbecoming sight, but she didn't much care. Just as she ducked under the entrance way of the tent, she felt something slam into her like a ton of bricks. The weight pushed on her back and pinned her to the ground, suffocating dirt filling her lungs. "Get, off!" She cried out, her voice muffled by the ground and pressure. She heard the snapping of jaws and felt the steamy, hot, breath of the beast on her back. It felt like an eternity, but it couldn't have been more than seconds. The mysterious creature waisted no time and tried to bite at her neck, going for the kill, but her squirming caused it to miss and instead, long canines dug into the soft flesh of her shoulder. A stifling scream escaped her mouth, and then the weight was gone. Rolling over painfully, she didn't know quite what had happened. Drifter was there, but her assailant no longer was. She knew drifter had saved her, she just wasn't quite sure how.

Panting and with great exertion, she staggered to her feet once more. Her breath was rapid and painful, but she thanked Drifter as best she could in the moment. "Th-, th-anks." Drifter said nothing, just like usual. Instead, he floated off into the distance, his pace quite rapid for him. Melisandra shuffled through camp, chasing after him. Her evening gown was soaked through with blood, sweat and the saliva of her attacker. The pain of her shoulder was nearly unbearable, but still she shuffled on.

The two came to a large tent, men coming and going, screaming out orders and drawing swords. It looked like a makeshift armory of sorts, a cache of weapons stored in its confines. She didn't know what Drifter had intended, but he urged her inside. There were few weapons she could actually use when not tending a sore arm, much less so with one. Drifter had to have known this, for he stopped right next to a small, projectile type device. Melisandra knew it as a crossbow. A fairly new weapon, as such things go. Shoots arrows like a bow, with easier operation, but at the expense of range. "I've never fired one of these before!" She protested, her left arm hanging limply at her side. She could move it, but it wasn't pleasant. Her protestation fell on deaf ears as Drifter left her to gather up a quiver and pick out the smallest crossbow she could find. Even being the smallest one, it wasn't light, not with one hand anyway. "I'm a thinker, not a fighter dammit." She didn't belong on the front lines, she belonged behind them, telling others how to form up or which wall to siege. But this was not that kind of battle. There was little time for plots and formations in an ambush. Slinging the quiver over her shoulder, she spied spare straps of leather that remained unused. She quickly formulated an idea and beckoned for two young men who had been giving out swords. Probably someone's squires if she had to guess.

They came running at her insistence, wary of her shoulder as they followed her commands to the letter. They tied the leather straps around Drifter, and the other ends about Melisandra's waist. The makeshift harness was much less refined than her normal one, but she hardly had time to fetch it back in her tent. Nervously, the two boys continued to pull and tie the leather into the shapes she needed. It all came together very quickly, if haphazardly. It was either stupidity or desperation to trust her life to such a device, but she reasoned that she had little choice. As she and Drifter emerged from the tent, she yanked at the harness warily. With a nod, she gave the okay to her companion and he quickly began to lift them from the ground like he had so many times before. The straps creaked and protested at her weight, but it held. Sticking the crossbow between her legs, she grabbed two arrows from her quiver and placed them in her mouth. Placing one in the notch of the weapon, she pulled back with both hands, the exertion excruciating on her left. Almost dropping the weapon in the process, she leveled it at the ground, the whole scene unfolding beneath her. It was chaos.

Her arms shook as she used her bad arm as a brace, the aiming easier since she was looking down upon the enemy. Mightyena and Poochyena were running rampant in the camp, terrorizing everything they saw. She found her first target, tried her best to line up the shot and fired. The arrow sailed just wide of the Pokemon, hitting the ground and laying harmlessly nearby. She quickly loaded again, cursed herself with every expletive she knew, lined up the shot once more and fired. This time, she didn't miss.

Sakura closed her eyes as the ferel Pokemon pounced at her, a small whimper escaping her throat in fear. "Princess Sakura, stay behind me!" opening her eyes she spotted Ser Guirmean had placed himself between her and the attacking Pokemon. Taking a shakey breath she watched as Fia quickly made her way to her the leafeon bleeding from her ear.

"oh Fia" Sakura whispered as the attacking Pokemon lashed out at them again, picking her out as the weak target which was true. But an arrow landed in the flank of a Mightyena shot by Ser Rodrick. Haru soon made an appearance, and she noted the way his eyes widened once they met hers before he had his Meganium attack the Mightyena that was heading for Rodrick.

Hearing a growl behind her she turned her head to see a Poochyena pouncing right at her. Eyes going even wider she gasped. "Fia, Magical Leaf" Fia pulled her head back, as she brought it forward her ears lifted up and light bluish green leaves flew at the Poochyena slamming into it, injuring it badly but the Pokemon still managed to get close enough to bit her arm, making Sakura cry out and swat at it with her cane.

Chapter 2.2: Stone the Murkrows II

Sin Rascalwolf hacked and slashed the incoming birds but there seemed to be no end to the onslaught. Sin risked to look at his Pokemon but an attack from another Murkrow kept distracting him. He can't have a moment to look at how Seafarer is, well, faring. "Seafarer! Hold your ground and attack! Don't leave!" Sin slashed at a Murkrow but the Pokemon simply flew higher. Everything he heard from his Pokemon is a roar and a whizzing sound, probably a compressed Water Pulse. The Murkrows seemed to flock to him and he seemed to not hit any of them. They were cunning Pokemon; taking turns to peck at him before flying up when he tried to reach for them with his sword. "Seafarer! Hydro Pump!" Another roar and the cloud of Murkrows dissipated with the attack. Sin knew that the distraction was momentary so he slashed at a Murkrow, clipping it on its left wing. The Murkrow clouded around Sin again, but not before he jumped on Seafarer's back. The duo of them ran blindly, with the trainer hacking at the Murkrows and Seafarer sending out random Hydro Pumps.

    "We need help!" Sin shouted.

Rosemary walked silently into Cherrygrove as the gates opened, gazing around at the serene, seemingly empty city. It was unusual for Rosemary, as she was used to the nighttime streets of most cities to be littered with drunks and perverts who tried to get something out of her when she walked by. No sign of a single person here. She scanned the buildings quizzically, almost forgetting about the woman in her company whom she didn't even know the name of. Most of the buildings, she noted, looked as if they didn't house anyone.

The lights were off and it was so pitch dark here that even the sky appeared very starry. All of a sudden, she heard loud screams and shouting not too far away from where she stood. Cawing, yelling, shrill screams of pain rang throughout the vast city. No light so much as flickered on, as if the screaming had actually started beforehand and everyone freaked out so badly that they turned their lights off, shut the windows, and hid under their Snorlax bunkbeds.

"Arma, we need to check this out," Rosemary whispered, hopping on her Flygon as she lowered herself from the air. "Sorry, stranger, but I really want to go check this out. Perhaps I'll run into you later," Rosemary apologized. The dragon swiftly flew upward and soared through the air towards the screeching. Rosemary readied her crossbow, nocking an arrow and searching through the blackness until she found some odd streets with streetlights on. She saw small black shadows flying this way and that, attacking at slightly larger figures who were grounded. Was this the group Rosemary was meeting up with?

"We need help!" a man with thick blond hair exclaimed. He was perched on a Samurott that was attempting to fight off the Murkrow but was having trouble due to being outnumbered. Rosemary put away her crossbow, realizing it would be useless with so many enemies present. "I think you know how to go about this, Arma," Rosemary told her encouragingly. The Flygon smiled and sped down toward the brawl at such a speed that if she were glowing she could easily be mistaken for a shooting star. Rosemary held on as tightly as she could as the gravity pushed her backward. When they were a mere couple of yards away, Arma stopped suddenly and Rosemary front-flipped over the green Pokémon, landing behind the man on his Samurott.

She grabbed onto the beast's back and lifted herself in a half-handstand so that she could kick at the birds in midair. As she predicted, they flew backwards to dodge the kick. Arma glided along as this happened, and she flapped her wings with as much speed as she could muster so that a tornado of sand formed around the birds, blowing them into endless circles and making them so dizzy it was near impossible for them to attempt escape. The few Murkrow who managed to dodge the attack pecked at Rosemary, but she grabbed onto one of the birds and sliced its throat with her dagger.

Arma's claws began to glow a bright blue and she slashed at another Murkrow, sending it sprawling to the ground. More Murkrow began to crowd around Arma, and in response she flew wildly, turning left, right, up, down. Her flying patterns apparently annoyed some of the Murkrow as they abandoned their attack and went for other screaming soldiers and Pokémon. A crowd of Murkrow surrounded Rosemary and pecked at her face, adding onto the scratches and scars already carved on it. She clenched her teeth and bore it as she punched at the occasional bird.

Chapter 2.2: The Dragonfly and the Otter

A blonde-haired girl and her Flygon burst into the scene, literally. The Flygon flew with such speed that Sin would not be surprised if the ground suddenly exploded with the impact as it stopped. The girl flew in the air, landing on Seafarer's back. She was a close-range fighter as her kicks seemed to be packed with energy. While the other duo were pressing the attack, Sin decided that he also needs to do some damage.

"Seafarer! Hydro Pump!" Sin stood from his Pokemon's back and jumped. He did a downward slash, sending a Murkrow hurtling to the ground. Sin felt a drizzle on his back as Seafarer's attack as his Pokemon found his mark. "Keep it up!" Sin was no the hard ground with Murkrows pecking on him. It was getting painful. He looked at the one who barged in on the scene and saw that she was sending punches towards air. Her Flygon was nowhere to be found but that was not surprising as the Murkrow cloud was too thick. Sin ran to her, holding his sword up high. Seafarer followed him. It also pulled out its seamitar. "Let's do it." Both trainer and Pokemon pulled out their sword and executed a sword movement so smooth that linked both the trainer and Pokemon. Several a Murkrow fell to their attack. He addressed the blonde girl. "Call your Flygon! We need to finish this cloud! The other soldiers might still be in trouble!"

The owner of Seafarer the Samurott commanded it to execute a hydro pump as he himself slashed at the Murkrow. A flock of Vullaby who had been attacking elsewhere began to move toward their direction, though Rosemary didn't notice them till they grouped up and tackled her off of Seafarer. She let out a short shriek and plunged off the Pokémon. Just as her arm met the ground, Arma flew over and grabbed her other arm. This weakened the impact but it still hurt her a good amount. Arma pulled her up and flew off, once again being trailed by the birds. Rosemary continued punching at the Murkrow and Vullaby, who, by the continuous attacks aimed at her head, thought it was a good idea to try and screw her face up. The tiny scratches and cuts were only failed attempts by others to rip her face to shreds.

The blond man approached her. "Call your Flygon! We need to finish this cloud! The other soldiers might still be in trouble!" Rosemary gave him a side glance as she swatted at the birds and then yelled out for Arma. The dragon flew over at once and tackled the birds away from Rosemary. "Hyper Beam!" she commanded. Arma slowed down the flapping of her wings to stay in place and began charging up a yellow beam in her mouth. "Screw off, you flying rat!" Rosemary exclaimed, bringing her dagger down on a stubborn Vullaby in a stabbing motion. She impaled it straight through the head, blood spurting out toward her face and getting into her mouth. The taste of iron made Rosemary's face contort in displeasure, and she kicked the dead Pokémon to remove it from the dagger. She quickly wiped it on her shirt. Meanwhile, Arma released the hyper beam and hit some of the Murkrow who tried to escape, blasting them till they were practically fried chicken. "Who else is here? Do you know them by name?" Rosemary called out to the owner of the Samurott.

  • Carmine Royale Cross
    Viridian - Vs. Poochyena

Carmine Cross's reunion with his former partner would have to wait. A whole bunch of blood-thirsty Poochyenas, commanded by a fierce-looking Mightyena came to attack the camp. Was it the enemy forces? Or were they just wild Pokémon who saw the people from the Kingdoms as intruders in their turf? Either way, they had to be fought and put out of commission; Cross wasn't going to take any chances with those fellas.

"Humph. Sorry, seems we'll have to leave the catching up for later!" he growled, his eyes focused on the Pokémon.

A small pooch leaped forward to attack them, but Gengar was easily able to block him with a punch. While it wasn't very powerful, what had probably hurt the Poochyena the most was the sudden change of momentum and the fall. Anyway, another Poochyena attacked Cross from behind. Both mercenary and partner Pokémon's eyes became as fierce as the attacker's ones, and it would be a battle between two blood-thristy sides (at least on Carmine Cross's side). Cross rolled over, crushing the pooch, then grabbed it and threw it away. Those two were not the last, a small herd of them was approaching.

    "Gengar, Shadow Ball!" Cross commanded.

Gengar smirked and made a big dark ball with his hands, then hurled it at the herd. Many were lucky to avoid being hit, while others didn't have the same fate and were knocked back. Gengar used a Shadow Punch to handle the 'lucky ones', but it was gonna take a great deal more if they wanted to eliminate that threat. Whenever one goes down, two more pop out! Sweet Arceus, where do these guys come from?

  • CYRUS DROGANNI
cherrygrove village - local inn / streets

The prince watched Aurora's retreating figure until she disappeared down the hall before he staggered back on to his feet. Cyrus could hear the inn and streets below fill with shocked cries and screeches of fright at this unexpected attack. The caws of the assailants were scattered across the village as they swooped in to terrorize their victims. It wasn't a random assault by any means, and his mind drifted to the figure he saw on the rooftop. That must've been the one who organized it. There was no doubt in his mind about that. The only questions that still agitated his troubled thoughts was why? Was it to stop their quest to defeat the Mad King before it even began? Was his father and advisers wrong when they validated the truth of the letter? Maybe it was planned all along by the Mad King himself. The very idea of it made Cyrus' blood run cold.

Yet he could not dwell on this possibility any longer. There were people who lived here, innocent and just people, who required his immediate aid. It was, after all, their arrival that brought this skirmish upon them. He intended to fix that. With a hand still clutched to his slightly bleeding arm he made his away over to the dresser and threw open the cupboard doors. Inside rested his clothing and sword, precisely where he left them before resting his head. With much haste Cyrus tore a strip of cloth from his tunic and tied it securely around his injury to stop the flow of the precious crimson liquid. He grabbed his garbs next and—with little care of ruining their fine quality—quickly put them on, fastening the belt around his waist and pulled the sword Eliath from his scabbard.

Suddenly, Aurora slithering through the doorway like a rocket and pressed up against his leg. He tensed before realizing it was his companion. He knew she was worried for him, and he felt a twinge of guilt settle uneasily in his stomach for ordering her to leave him. He gave the Pokémon what he hoped to be a reassuring nudge before the door once again burst open. Cyrus immediately went on the defensive and dropped into a fighting stance. Yet to his great relief it was not one of the winged beasts but rather Rowan. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and rapidly scanned his friend to confirm his well-being. The man didn't look harmed, and he sent a silent thanks to Aurora for her swift warning, but his features appeared ruffled as if he had been in a conflict.

Cyrus saw his protector's wandering eyes rest on his injured arm. "It's just a scratch," he said automatically.

Rowan moved to stand between the prince and the balcony while simultaneously watching all entrances. "Your highness, we have to get outside! The Pokémon are better at maneuvering in here, and Rex isn't able to get in! We have to get out of here, -now-!"

Cyrus nodded his agreement. Rex would be great support to battling these Pokémon, but he was far too big to fit through the front doors of the inn, let alone the narrow hallways. The prince was about to leave the room when another Murkrow dived for the opening of the balcony door. Cyrus swung his sword upward in preparation, but the steel met nothing but air. Outside was a strange man being held in midair by a Vibrava. The prince knew at once he was of the Dragon Kingdom based on his Pokémon companion, though Cyrus had never seen him before in his life. The man had cut down the Murkrow and sent it spiraling to the ground before he turned his gaze to them both.

"I would suggest haste, sers. Elsewise there will be reinforcements." The man said with a smile.

Though Cyrus had many questions for the lad, he settled on gratitude. "I am grateful to you for your service in taking down that Murkrow. We shall meet you outside." The prince then turned and grabbed Rowan by the sleeve and pulled him out into the hall. The two made haste as they ducked and weaved their way through the frantic mess. At last they broke through the chaos and hurled themselves out the doors and into the streets of Cherrygrove. What they saw out here was far worse than what they encountered inside. Dozens of bird Pokémon were swarming the village and attacking anyone in sight.

Cyrus turned to Rowan and clutched his shoulder. "We can provide better aid to them if we split up and cover more ground. Don't worry about me, I seem to have someone else watching my back as well." He cast a quick glance at the man with the Vibrava before turning back to his protector. "Be safe, and may the fire of the dragons burn strong within you."

  • Ser Guirmean Bevan - Guardian of the Forest

In a tense standoff, the Mightyena and Guirmean eyed each other down with neither combatant making a sound. Captain Roderick and Haru had stopped the first of the pair with the aid of Fiore which evened the playing field for the guardian and allowed him to focus on the dark Pokémon before him. This wasn't his first encounter with the species, as many thugs over the years have been known to use the highly obedient beast for raids and other dubious uses.

An arching back and a deep growling signified that Mightyena would be launching its attack. Slow and ever so carefully, Guirmean put his right hand on the handle of his short sword to prepare for his own counterattack. Little did this Pokémon know, but he was about to face off against one of the guardians most respected swordfighters. Prematurely, the seasoned warrior pulled out his blade when he heard the cry of the princess behind him. In a split second, the hyena leapt forwards with its maw agate, the two canine teeth fully visible even from a distance, and the Mightyena's charge left Guirmean unable to divert his attention elsewhere.

Yanking his sword arm backwards, Guirmean took a powerful leading step forwards before launching the point of the blade straight for the attacking Mightyena. The longer reach of the blade compared to the Pokemon's fangs ensured the guardian's attack struck first, and the sharpened metal blade stabbed through the feral foe's furry neck. The collision of force bore strain on the fighter's right arm, and the momentum of the now impaled Mightyena was far greater than that of his quick counter.

Not wanting to collide and be taken back by the inertia, Guirmean pivoted his body to trail along with the shaggy body of his attacker. Using his left arm in a triangle-like position, he then pushed down on the now mid-air Mightyena to bring it to the ground below him, sword now left within the felled creature. The wild Pokémon hit the floor with a small thud, and the position left Princess Sakura and he assailant in his direct sight. He rushed to the young girl's defense, and kicked the Poochyena while drawing his remaining short sword. The younger dark type had been taken back a couple feet from the stern booting Guirmean had given it, but it was otherwise unharmed from the attack.

Ser Rodrick had meanwhile thanked Haru for his assistance with the first Mightyena, but also wrote the attack off as 'nothing he couldn't handle' before giving the younger man a smile. He then suggested that Haru stay with Guirmean and assist with protecting the royal lady. Seeing Khan fighting off a pair of Poochyena, Rodrick went to back up his skilled Pokémon who was currently spackled with blood, though whose it was remained a mystery. Dearc was constantly skimming across the camp in a maddened craze and chasing the enemy Pokémon in multiple directions in an attempt to ward off the beasts. His attention wasn't very focused on a specific target until the large mantis caught a glimpse of a bright light shining at the outskirts of the camp.

He followed its path and found a human and another dark type fighting against the attacking dark types. The Dearc stopped his advance a few yards from the pair before sharpening his appendages in another Sword's Dance. The armor encased Scyther took a couple steps forwards while growling loudly. Though the girl could tell from his intent, he meant the human or her Sableye no harm. It was the beast behind her that had his attention. . .

  • Sin Rascalwolf || Cherrygrove
Chapter 2.2: The Dragonfly and the Otter

"Who else is here? Do you know them by name?" the owner of the Flygon called off. Sin took his time to answer primarily because, in between stabbing the random Murkrow and ordering his Seafarer, he could not do much of anything. "There are three others from my kingdom, although I do know not of their identities!" Sin shouted over the cawing of the Murkrow. One of them boldly tried to crash into the Duke but he simply swat it away with his hand. It was then impaled with his sword, sending blood all around them. He noticed that the cloud was already thinning. About time! Seafarer sent out a huge Hydro Pump that sent the remaining Murkrows away. "Let's go!" Sin and his Pokemon dashed off, spotting a Mandibuzz flying above the others. It's cries seemed to be rallying the avian Pokemon. "Seafarer! Come!"

  • ♚ Rowan de Corbeil / Rex
    Cherrygrove Village

As the two of them were about to head out of the room and into the streets, Rowan's attention was pulled towards the balcony as a Murkrow was on its way in. Cyrus was already preparing to defend himself, but the bird was struck down just before flying in through the open doors, by a man riding a Vibrava. Rowan's relief was quickly replaced by surprise at the sight of this man.

He had seen him before. Several times, in fact. He was from the Kingdom of Dragons, like the two of them, although he was a little more… unofficial, than himself and the prince. Rowan glanced to Cyrus as he spoke to the man, thanking him for his help and Rowan offered him a quick, friendly and thankful smile, nodding his head to him. Rowan was happy that he wasn't the only one to protect the prince.

The two of them turned around and hurried outside, Murkrows and Vullabies flying everywhere, attacking people, innocents as well as soldiers. Rowan quickly bit off the glove on his left hand, revealing the flame-like tattoo crossing over the back of his hand. He stuck two fingers into his mouth and let out a sharp, loud whistle. He quickly tugged on the glove again as Cyrus called his attention, proposing the two of them splitting up.

It was clear from Rowan's expression that he –really- didn't like the idea of leaving the prince on his own, but firstly, he had Aurora. Secondly, the Mukrows shouldn't pose much a threat. Thirdly, he was an excellent combatant, fourthly… what he said –did- make sense, and Rowan could do a better job of cutting into the enemy forces on his own, though granted, with Rex by his side, and fifth… Cyrus also had a hidden protector, as Rowan had just witnessed.

After another moment of contemplation, Rowan nodded and hit his clenched fist against his chest, above his heart, giving his friend a stare that said 'Be careful'.
"You as well. Good luck out there, Cyrus."

Just then, the heavy figure of the Druddigon, Rex, slammed into the ground not far from them, the ground beneath them shaking slightly as the massive Pokémon raised his head to the skies and let out a loud, challenging roar, the nearby bird Pokémon making sure to keep a fair distance away from him. With a last look at his friend, Rowan ran over and with two quick steps up on Rex's leg and his back, he sat himself in the saddle and strapped himself in, grasping the saddle with one hand and keeping a hold of his sword with the other.

"Come on Rex! Let's show these birds the fury of the Dragons!"
"Gon!" Rex roared out and bent his knees before flapping his wings powerfully, sending them both into the air. Rowan guided Rex, sending him against some of the birds that were gathering up in small flocks. Rex swung his massive arms and snapped at them with his great jaws while Rowan swung and stabbed his sword at them, cutting into their numbers and protecting Rex's back. People around the village had picked up arms as well, and they were fending them off, but the birds were still a nasty foes, what with there being so many of them.

That was when Rowan noticed a Mandibuzz, the biggest he'd ever seen, flying high above the village in the dark of the night, seemingly keeping a watch over the attack and screeching out to its hordes. Rowan narrowed his eyes and swung his sword upwards. "Rex, up there! Target the Mandibuzz!" Rex's head turned upwards after having crushed a Vullaby in his powerful jaws, letting out a ferocious roar before shooting skywards, towards the flying beast.

The Mandibuzz noticed the two of them and screeched out, flapping its wings down at them, creating an unnaturally powerful gust that halted Rex's movements for a few moments before he managed to push on. Rowan winced, keeping a firm grip of the saddle. He had to stop the attack, or they would be sitting Duckletts. "Ngh…! Rex, Dragonbreath!"

"Drud…!" Rex growled out, taking in a deep breath through his nostrils while fighting against the wind. His intense, yellow eyes stared up at the Mandibuzz as he parted his mouth, revealing an odd hue shining out from his belly. He then let out his attack, something akin to a tounge of flame shooting towards the bird, but it was coloured in deep purple and dark orange hues, and it seemed as if sparks were coming off of the 'fire'.

The bird was forced to dodge out of the way of the attack and Rex was soon at the same height as the bird, everything below seeming like tiny specks to the three of them. Rowan kept his eyes on the bird as it and Rex circled one another. It let out a screech, which made Rowan tense up. A sudden, faint sound of flapping was heard from below as it had apparently called on several of its allies to come defend it, but Rex was having none of it. As a retaliation, Rex flew in close and swung his massive arm with his long claws swiping across the bird's chest, sending it screeching backwards, an evil glare in its eyes. Rowan took a deep breath and kept a firm grip of the sword, ready to defend Rex's back, in case the Murkrows and Vullabies would overwhelm him.

"Keep steady, Rex! Don't let him take you off guard!"

Olivier gave a low half-bow towards the two of them. "The duty and pleasure of fulfilling such a task, is mine." He gave Rowan a small smile as the man left before lowering himself to stand by Cyrus' feet. "I would give you your due respect, my lord, but I'm afraid that..." Vivio released a blast of mud from her mouth with a spit and he spun, striking the creature's wing and stabbing its throat. "This is not the time for such."

He smiled throughout, turning one of his eyes on the furious Vullaby. "Come here," he encouraged. "My father is anxious to meet you." Vivio let out a squeal in his ear and he chuckled. "My mistake, dearie." Giving Cyrus a glance, he whistled sharply. "Above your head, my liege."

Ah, his head hurt when he did that. The voices spoke again. Curse it.

Vivio vibrated her wings and slashes cut the air, slicing into a Vullaby's body. Quite the pain this was.

There was a cursing shriek and something dove, stabbing its beak into his forehead. Ollie didn't panic, merely thrust up his sword into a stab into the creature's neck. "I do apologize formally, my liege," he said to Cyrus as he moved to stand only inches behind him. "I do not believe...and perhaps I am mistaken for considering... but I do not believe your father would have liked this existence-" He thought of his fellow children, each of whom were all over the few Kingdoms, fulfilling their pride and joy. "To have been revealed to you in such a matter. However," He shook his head. "That is a conversation for the survivors, is it not?"
