Hi, I'm FiXbox, and I usually stick to the trade forums, but I decided I needed a better look at exactly what this site has to offer. For all the moderators out there, I hope I'm not doing anything wrong, I don't want to get this thread closed or anything.

This is a One-shot, so please do not nag me for a seqel. Thank-you and enjoy.

    ------------------------------------------------------

    Harbored Feelings: A Champions Pain!

Cynthia had the last straw with everything. She was fed up with being the champion, with all the publicity, fame, hell she even had action figures made of her! She was sick of it all.

As she sat on the window sill of her overly large, and accoring to her, un-comfortable room, she silently vowed she would bomb the next fight she had, letting them take over this whole mess.

"Miss? you have challengers and fans waiting. Four challengers, and dozens of fans. Should I escort the fans out?" Said a man at her door.

'Good ol' Bernard. He knows how to sweet talk me.' Cynthia thought "Yes, if you would be so kind." Cynthia said, smiling kindly at him. Bernard nodded, made a checkmark on his clipboard, then left.

Now, Bernard was by no means, "strong". He had a small figure with a max weight of about 125lbs, and that was when he had more than 8 courses to his meals. Oh yeah, he was a hefty eater, you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at him though. You could, howver, tell that it had been about 2 years seince he'd been laid, was gay, and had an IQ that surpased that of an all-knowing super-computer. He had a Pokemon, a Luxio, that kept him awake when his Red Bull stash ran dry. In other words: a perfect assistant.

Cynthia stared out at the forest below for a while longer, watching the various types of pokemon scatter about with their buisness.

"I wish I had that freedom..." Cynthia mumured in a dazed state. "Just being free to go outside and not be mauled by the paparazi..." she stood and went over to her dresser. "Hell, I can't even go look at those ruins in Honnen I've hear so much about... what I woludn't give for a nice, long day off like that..." she murmured as she picked her pokeballs out of the drawer in her vanity in which she kept them. She fixed her hair, and reluctantly headed down stairs.

As Bernard had said, he instructed all of the fans to leave, leaving four people in the room. She immediatly recognised them.

"Ash?" She asked aloud. The black-haired trainer truend at his name. "Hiya! betcha never thought I'd make it this far, did ya?" he said with a huge toothy grin.

"Well, I certainly didn't..." Oh yes, the downer, Paul was there as well, standing casually against the wall, hands deep in his pockets. His voice being the one of uncaring boredom.

"Oh yeah? You got some mouth hot shot! I got here like.... 8 hours before you! so eat that!" Ash declaired, standing up, making as if to start a fight witht the purple haired trainer.

"Cool it you two." "Yeah, you guys have been driving me crazy for the last half hour!" Brock and Dawn said, respectively.

"Tch. Whatever, I've got a battle to win. So lets get the over with, huh?" Paul said, stepping away from the wall and looking at Cynthia.

"Brock, Dawn, are two here to challenge as well?" Cynthia asked, looking at the two of them: Brock was feeding his Croagunk, and Dawn was messing with her PokeTech.

"No, we just followed Ash is all." Dawn said, looking up from her watch.

"Right, lets get this battle over. I want another shot at taking down that Garchomp of yours." Paul said, pulling his hands out of his pockets and balling his fists.

"Whoever said she was going to fight you! I say she should fight me first!!" Ash declared, raising a fist as he had before.

"If she fought you you'd be down in ten seconds flat! it'd be a waste of her time and mine!" Paul said, anger clearly setting in his tone.

"Stop you two. Listen, I fight challenger by reconrds of who got here first so-" "I did!" Ash and Paul yelled at the same time, their eyes meeting in a death stare. Cynthia shook her head, and held her right arm out, separating the two from any further violence, and asked Bernard for his clipboard. Bernard made a quick intervention, and handed her his clipboard.

"According to Bernards records, Ash was here first, so I'll fight him first." Cynthia said, handing the clipboard back to Bernard.

"Hah! Yes!" Ash said, doing a small victory dance. Paul looked away, and went back to leaning against the wall. "Sorry Paul, rules are rules." Cynthia then took Ash through the door she'd come through, Ash following her tail.

"You ready Ash?" Cynthina asked at they walked through the dimly lit hallway. "Yeah! I've been ready for this seince I set foot in the Sinnoh rejion!" Ash said excitedly. Cynthia smiled.

'Thank God it's him and not that Paul grouch, though part of me is hoping that Paul will beat him. Ash shouldn't have to deal with this paparazzi mess.' Cynthia thought, as they made a left turn. Dawn, Brock, and Paul were all being escorted to the arena by Bernard, to watch in the stands.

They reached the feild, and took their places: Ash on the side closest to the door, and Cynthia on the opposite end. Bernard stood, holding the two flags that would be held by the referee in any match.
"This is a gym-style battle! Only the opposing trainer my switch out any pokemon an\t any time during the match. A maximum of six pokemon may be used during this one-on-one battle versus the Current Champion, Cynthia and the opposing trainer Ash Ketchum of Pallet town. Begin!"

(Okay, I have not reached the Champion in my PKMN Diamond, so we'll just skip the pleasentries untill the last pokemon: Cynthia's Spiritomb against Ash's Pikachu. Fogive me if Spiritiombs moves are off.)

'Just gotta bomb it, just gotta bomb it...' "Ready to lose your Champion title?" Ash challenged. "God yes..." She whispered.

Ash's voice thundered her out of her thoughts. "Pikachu use volt tackle!" Pikachu began it's charge.
'End it, please end it. I want out.... please...' and as she finished her plea, Pikachu's volt tackle nailed a direct hit on Spiritomb.

"Spiritomb is...unable to battle" Bernard struggled for the words, watching the scene in awe. "A-Ash's Pikachu is the winner!" He hesitated before he continued, "Ash Ketchum of Pallet town is the new Champion!"

"Yes! Alright Ash!" Brock and Dawn shouted. Paul stood up, eyes blazing.

"What!? NO!" Paul balled his fists again.

"Pika-Pika!" Pikachu cheered as it hapily ran to Ash for a victory hug. "We did it buddy!" Pikachu gave a happy squeal as Cynthia walked over to him.

"Well done Ash, I definatly underestimated your skills. You deserve to hold the title of Pokemon League Champion!"

"NO HE DOSENT!" Paul shouted, running twards them, having jumped off the stands.

"Why'd you throw the match!? You had his scrawny Pikachu in a deadlock and you toss it?!" Paul declared, glaring at Cynthia.

"He won fair and square. I say you're jealous because he beat me and not you." Cynthia said, placing her hand on her hip.

"I still want a battle with you!" Paul yelled. Dawn and Brock had gotten off the stands with Bernards help, and were now standing behind Ash, facing Paul.

"No-can-do Paul. Seince I am no longer the Champion, I have a choice to decline battles, so I'm taking advantage of that.....OOF!" She was nearly plowed down by Bernard who was crying and hugging her.

"Don't leave me Cynthia! What am I going to do without you-ahh-ha-haaa...." Bernard cried.

Cynthia Smiled. "Thats easy: You're Ash's assistant now, unless he chooses to fire or demote you..." Cynthia said, taink him by the shoulders. Bernard looked hopefully at Ash.

"You definatly seem to know what you're doing!" Ash said with a smile. Bernard smiled, and wiped his eyes.

Paul let out a mad growl. "You don't expect these losers to buy that he actually won out of strength! I could beat him in my sleep!" Paul growled, pointing at Ash, but looking at Cynthia.

"That sounds like a challenge, dosen't it, Champion?" She raised and eyebrow and looked at Ash. "Sure does! How about we have it tomorow? I gotta' get my pokemon healed up." Ash said, with a cocky grin on his face.

"Tch, fine! I've got other buisness anyway...." Paul snapped, and stomped out of the arena.
They cleared out of the area, and Cynthia packed her things. They would be moved out by hellicopter to Celestic Town, because it was the easiest way.

"So this is going to be my room, huh?" Ash said, sitting on the bed looking around.

"Yep!...you'll soon find it your sanctuary..." CYnthia murmured the last part. "This is gonna be awesome! I can't wait to go tell my mom!" Ash said with a wide smile. "Unless it was televised..." Ash pondered, scratching his chin.

"Nope, I don't have matches on certain days on public TV. You're good to tell her." Cynthia said, handing her Garchomp a couple of bags.

After Garchomp left the room, Cynthia realized it was the last of her things. "This room is yours now, Ash." Cynthia said, smilng sweetly.

"Got any pointers?" Ash asked, meeting her by the door.

"Beware of the paparazzi. They'll be on your ass if you take one foot out of the league building." Cynthia said, with her most serious tone and face. Ash nodded, and the look on his face meant he understood. "One more thing. I'm going to be at your match tomorow, just because I want to see that Paul kid get his ass kicked. Don't let me down, 'kay?" Cynthia said, giving him a light hug.

Ash nodded. "Pikachu and I'll leave him in the dust!" Ash said as Pikachu juped on his shoulder, giving a determined "Pika!" when Ash fishied.

"I know you will..." Cynthia said, and gave his a kiss on the forehead, before bading goodbye and leaving.

Dawn was outside, watching the Goldeen and Seaking play in the lake. On the other side of the glinting blue waters, stood our favourite sunshine boy, Paul.

"NO! You can't hope to beat him like that!" He shuoted as he ferociously kicked his Torreterra. It let out a low growl, and tunred it's attention on Paul. "Thats right, get mad. Make me afraid!" Paul commanded, a twisted look peeling onto his features. Torreterra let out a mad roar, and sent out a massive Hyperbeam, right a Paul. Paul's eyes went wide with fear before he quckly got down. The tree that he was standing in front of fell, and caused majior dust to come up from the dry earth.
"....Perrr-fect..." Paul grinned, looking at the charred remains of the once proud tree. Still crouched, he returned his pokemon, and stood up, brushing the dust off, then leaving the area, walking away from the lake.

"That kid is so weired..." Dawn murmured. Her Piplup and Buneary were playing by the lake, some game it looked like. Piplup was coming in and out of the water, sqirting a small amount of water a Buneary, while Buneary was trying to freeze the upcoming water. Dawn, sat looking over the lake, eyes falling past the Goldeen and Seaking.

"Having fun?" Dawn jumped at the voice behind her.

Dawn turned around. "Oh, hey Cynthia! S-sure, I guess..." she felt a soft blush come onto her features as the blonde sat next to her.
"Here, I brought us some lunch." Dawn looked at the large bento, then at Cynthia. (NOTE: A Bento is a japanese lunchbox, either made from hand or provided by the school)

"H-how did you know I was out here anyway?" Dawn asked, watching Cynthia unpack the lunch.

"Actually, I'm kind of suprised I found you here. I thought that you would be training, not siting out here." Cynthia explained, handing Dawn a small plate. Dawn blushed a furious red, and looked away.

"It's okay, realy. I find it relaxing out here. I figured seince I wasn't going to be staying long, that I'd be taking the good sides of this place in." Cynthia explained, putting a piece of fried egg into her mouth.

Dawn nodded slowly, then began to eat. They ate in relative scilence, because Buneary and Piplup were still playing thier little game. Buneary ran out of energy, and laid down on the grass, while Piplup was taking a backfloat on the water.

"...Why'd you throw the match?" Dawn asked softly, breaking the immiscible scilence.

Cynthia looked panicked for a moment, then responded, "Wh-what do you mean throw the match?" Cynthia gave a false smile and raised her tone, trying to sound cofident but failing miserbly. "Wh-wh-why would I, Cynthia, give up a title as pretidgeous as the Champion, to-to a kid from Pallet town?!" Cynthia said, laughter with her words to try to make is sound like she wasn't going to cry.

Dawn put her clean plate and chopsticks in the now empty bentou box. "Why wouldn't you?" Dawn said sloemnly. She had a neutral expression on her face, devoid of all emotion.

"Wh-what? what's that supposed to-" Cynthia began

"Don't lie! I know you threw the match. You were... unhappy the way your life was going, am I right?" Dawn said, looking slightly angry.

Cynthia put her plate and chopsticks with Dawns in the box. "Yes. If you knew the exact circumstances, you would understand..." Cynthia said, looking down sadly.

"Tell me. I want to know exactly why you disliked it to the point where you would just, throw it out the window like that."

Cynthia sighed, and began on how the paparazzi would pratically kill her if she took two steps out the door, how having to challenge so many weak trainers was annoying, and how she never got to pursue her passion of investigating the ruins.

"Why didn't you tell Bernard?" Dawn asked. They had shifted so they were sitting next to eachother on the checked blanket.
"I did. Bernard's position dosen't allow him much say in the freedom of the Leagues members. The most he was able to do for me was console me and change my lunch every now again." Cynthia said, staring out into the glistening water.

"Couldn't you have consulted the League's officials? You were the Champion, you should've-"

"No, I couldn't have. If I were to ask for my accomodations to be met, they would just brush them off as if I had no idea what I was asking for. If I tried to threaten them, they would threaten to decline even my smallest favours for the next 5 months." Cynthia finished quickly.

They were silent then, the moments that passed felt like years to the both of them, watching Piplup come back on shore, and Bueary wanting back in it's ball, she returned them both.

"I'm not going to convince you to go back, I can't. Thats like trying to convince me to no pursue contests. I really don't have anyother questions." Dawn said flatly.

".....You...you won't tell Ash?" Cynthia asked, sending a shocked look at Dawn.

"No, Ash probably wouldn't believe me anyway....." Dawn trailed off, and sared at her boots with a discerned look on her face.

"Dawn? whats wrong?" Cynthia asked, putting a hand softly on the young girls back.

"It's going to be kinda boring now I guess..." Dawn said, lifting her head slightly, looking like she might cry, but having that smile that tries to tell peoeple your fine, but it fails. Cynthia was slient and kept looking at Dawn.

"A-Ash and Brock aren't going to be traveling with me anymore. It'll get lonely on the road...." Dawn lowerd he voice to an almost whisper, allowing a few stray tears to fall down her cheeks.

Cynthia smiled softly, and pulled the blunette into her arms. "If you'd like, I could travel with you, for a while at least. It's been a while seince I've had a good chance to see what the Sinnoh rejoin really has to offer." Cynthia said, slowly stroking Dawns hair.

Dawn smiled. "If you're okay with it, then it's fine with me. I thought you would want to see the ruins, not travel with me to contests." Dawn said, trying to dry her tears.
"I do, and I just had an idea. There are plenty of cool pokemon in caves, mabye you find one and use it to help you win your contests?" Cynthia asked, pushin Dawn away to look into her reddened eyes.

"I thought that people that examined the ruins would discourage against that sort of thing." Dawn said softly.

"We do, for alot of pokemon. Obviously I'm not going to take you to the Solaceon Ruins and let you catch an Entei. There are plenty of other pokemon I've seen in the caves, caverns and ruins that you can't find going up Mt. Coronet." Cynthia said matter-of-factly.

"It sounds like fun! and unlike Ash, you'll at least let me catch a pokemon or two, right?" Dawn said excitedly.

"Ash never let you catch pokemon?" Cynthia asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No, not realy. He's only let my catch my Buizel and my Buneary." Dawn said looking down. (AN: sorry to interlude, but I know that Dawn and Ash traded pokemon or something, and Ash has the Buizel and Dawn has the Ambipom. Please don't flame me, I have no idea what exactly happened, and I dont really care. Thank-you.)

"You don't need alot of pokemon for contests, do you?" Cynthia asked, having only participated in one contest and remembering only that she lost with her Gible.

"No, but it is nice to have a varitey of moves. I guess you could say it's alot like gym battles. It's alwase good to have different types on you, so you can easily face any challenge!" Dawn said, finishing with a smile.

Cynthia put her arm around Dawn, giving her a freindly half hug. "You've sure got the spirit of a coordinator!" Cynthia said with a giggle in her words.

"We should go back before the sun completely goes down." Dawn said, pointing to the west, where the bright orange sun was glistening on the deep blue of the ocean water.

"You've gotta' admit though, it is a pretty nice view. This was another thing I liked to do, watch the sunset. You'll never see another one like it anywhere." Cynthia said, staring dreamily out into the sunset. Dawn set her head on Cynthia's shoulder, and relaxed, watching the calming orange and blue meld into a starry night.

Just as the sun had set, Dawn moved quickly and united her lips with the former Champion's. Cynthia's eyes widened, but quickly closed as she depened the kiss.

Awesome job! Everything seemed to be going a little quick though, try to slow it down and add a lot more details. Example: The Cynthia vs. Ash battle should have been more detailed. Even if you don't know Cynthia's Pokes, you can google it, or just make it up. It's your story, make it how you wanna be.

You should put that before the story starts. Other way it cuts the mood a bit...
Also, try to be more descriptive and ask for a moderator (Astinus is the one who rules here :P) to add the 'Oneshot' on the title thread, so the readers will now that (and that's important if you want lots of people to read your work, they wanna know what are they going to read)

Anyway, I liked the story. Like Pokemon battles ^^ Although I don't like the shipping that much but is good.
And don't worry if the team isn't the same as in the games. It's your story and you can put what ever you want ;)

    Good job!!!

That was an odd random kiss.
