    Does it really matter?

I've never been sad/angry over the fact that my Platinum lacked a Game Corner.
Dang, if I want to play at a Game Corner (unlikely, since I don't like them), i'll just play Emerald. ~_~

Yes, it does include American as well. Noting how it says everywhere outside of Japan, America is no exception. I'm sure there will be some mixed feeling about the situation though. :\

but just a simple Minigame, why not make several minigames, instead of an entire arcade having ONE arcade game, the same one in every machine, like an arcade where every single machine is Donkey Kong, and what about the card flip from the original GSC, in fact, does'nt the ESRB know about the ORIGINAL Gold and Silver game corner, either way, I officially hate both ESRB and PEGI, but the one who is really to blame is JACK THOMPSON, It's HIS fault that there are no Game corners in the European Platinum (unknowingly he probably told Europe and every other country AFTER Platinum was released statewise)

besides, there is always ROM hacking, this is a hacking community after all, so if the english roms still have all the data of the slots despite all the event flags turned off, we can get the slots back, if not, then, well, we do not know much about the HGSS roms currently, and if the data is not there, having been completely removed, well, all hope is lost, unless we have Bill Gates' computer programming knowledge, it is likely impossible,

but the announcement was only made today, it may not be the final word (it will be in Europe) so there is still hope that they might keep the slots (pray that they will), we can only find out when the cames are released statewise.....

As laughable as Jack Thompson is nowadays, no, he is not to blame for PEGI's regulations. Jack Thompson lives in Florida and no one listens to him now. They did a semi-recent interview with him where he was hating on games and on his couch in the background, there was a 360 controller laying around. He's a joke. Nothing more.

It is a pity that this is happening for the US. Maybe Nintendo sees it as cheaper for NoA to make the change than NoE, thus plaguing every country with this censorship. Or maybe the ESRB caught wind of Platinum's European change and wanted to pull on the reins of their incredibly vague game rating system.

Though, if this wasn't a remake (thus them ruining part of a classic), I'd probably like Minesweeper better than tapping A for hours on end. But, no, they're screwing with the original.

I read that it was kind of like Minesweeper. Minesweeper rocks! But didn't they have a card flipping game in the original GSC?

FINALLY THEY GOT RID OF THOSE GODDAMN SLOT MACHINES!!!!!

I could never get money from it. *shrugs*
Anyway Minesweeper sounds more fun anyway! :D

Ignoring most of the bullcrap you just pulled in your post, exactly how will ROM hacking help? People buy the retail game, and they expect certain features to be there. ROM hacking isn't relevant at all because if it's not there in the first place, do you think everyone who wanted the Game Corner is going to rely on ROM hacking to get it back?

Well the thing is if it's NOT still in the game hidden somewhere they could hex edit VoltorbSweeper out and copy the hex of the slots into the game, and then buy a flash card and play it on that.

I don't know. If you want the slots so much learn Japanese and play those games Anthony.

I think its down to Nintendo's localisation tactics, I remember hearing Pokemon EU and US had merged (cant seem to find the news article, but it was on Bulbapedia), so hearing the problem regarding the european release, they decided during the localisation process that both regions will receive the same game. I dont think ESRB has changed any of its criteria for its rating.

Also, Moltres, it does matter to us. Alot of us want the game as it was originally envisioned, not diluted through regional differences. According to my PEGI survey sheet, all they really needed to do was change the rewards so that the Game Corner is not the sole method of obtaining certain things.

Yeah, so much for a remake, huh? Also, what demonmike said below your post. You realise that for many, "learn Japanese and play those games" is a non-option? Don't use your opinion mixed with fact and use it to discount opinions like this.

I know Anthony, but I don't see the big deal on the slots. They are difficult. Normally I like a challenge, but I never figured out how to play them, and I don't like the idea of gambling in a kids game. Whatever though.

Difficulty is subjective. Also, there is no difficulty in such a game (Well, you never know, considering I never did find out whether the rumours of different slot machines in Generation I & II had varying odds of a jackpot), hence the nature of gambling.

Actually, just realised there is a knack to influencing your chances of winning, and that's timing. But like I said, difficulty is subjective. One man's trash is another's treasure, surely the variance in opinion here some what understands the deal with some of us?

I can't really find myself too concerned about them taking out the Game Corner really. I never actually used it that often in any of the games in the series. If it wasn't for this topic, I probably wouldn't have even noticed. Besides, it actually makes sense in a real world way, the Pokemon world's laws and the like are a reflection of our own and, as far as I'm aware, anyone under 18 years old isn't allowed in a casino, and we all know that the playable trainers of Pokemon are underage.

However, didn't they include gambling games in the US & European releases of Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros?

But I liked the slots. >:

I suppose as long as I can still just buy the coins to get prizes it doesn't really matter, I could just play Diamond's slots.
    But seriously.. Minesweeper? Ugh.

I'm still a little upset that the card-flipping game wasn't included in the game... And now I learn this...

    Damn them... just damn them.

I sucked with the slots, but without it being in the game (in which it was a significant part from Kanto, correct?) This sorta-kinda pisses me off. They shouldn't make too many changes to the original. x__x

I'm finally old enough to do this (I'll be 20 this month), and now it's gone........................oh well. XD (I never gambled in the originals either. Didn't want to risk losing coins.) At least GF replaced it with something else instead of having nothing there at all.

Sheesh, what is so evil about playing slot machines that they'd have to be cut from this game in the first place? Maybe it's just becasue I live in Las Vegas and am used to seeing slots everywhere from the airport to the 7-11 and even in the supermarket; but there are so many worse things we could be worrying about as a society than if someone wants to feed a twenty to a Game King and play a few spins. Just because some people don't know when to stop doesn't mean the option to gamble should be taken away from everybody...that, and I'm pretty sure most people are able to seperate fantasy from reality and not associate a virtual slot game that can be somewhat manipulated by the player (a good sense of timing will help you win at the Game Corner) to a real slot machine; which requires no more skill than to push a button to bet and then to push a button to start the wheels turning, and is won solely and completely on if you happen to be playing when the machine is ready to pay out.

Argh...it's just...it's stupid. Everyone should be annoyed by this; regardless of whether or not you actually played or liked the slots. The issue here isn't really the slots for me (not just for the reasons I already stated above, but also because virtual gambling is a better way to channel your addictive impulses, if you have some, than feeding your paycheck to a real slot machine), it's the fact that these games are being censored. I understand that there seems to be some sort of legal reason for the slot censorship in Europe (not that it's fair, but if it's against the letter of the law than they really have no choice), but to censor it EVERYWHERE outside Japan? If it's fine for Japanese people, including Japanese children (take heed of that, ESRB), to play in a full-fledged Game Corner, than why can't we? It's better to get a Minesweeper ripoff than not being able to do anything more than talk to a slot and get a few coins left in the bottom there each day, yes, but we shouldn't have to get the Minesweeper ripoff at all. This anal level of Nintendo game censorship should be left back in the 80's and early 90's where it flourished (not that it was right then, either - can you say Street Fighter II? Or, to keep to first-party games, Earthbound?) - surely we're more progressive than this? Not to mention that we've been able to play the darn Pokemon slots since 1998 with no problems or issues from the censors; if gambling was such a problem, why are they only coming out of the woodwork now, 12 years too late? >.> It's not like all those kids who played Red and Blue back in the day are now sitting before the slots down on the Strip feeding the machines their last dollar. >.> Even if they have to change an NPC's text to ramble on about how slots can be addictive and to play responsibility in order to get the games to stay, than fine...it would be a bit obnoxious, but I'd prefer that to having them removed completely.

Drat it all. This is just as stupid as the censorship the reprints of the Pokemon Adventures manga have been getting; apparently we're not allowed to see jokes about groping and boobs anymore; when they were just fine back in the 90's. Kids are going to grow up so sheltered if parents nowadays want to protect them from every last thing that could possibly be a little offcolor...

tl;dr - people are stupid and I'm pissed off that game censorship is apparently back in vogue.

You think they would block off all that sexual reference stuff in Pop music instead of this, come on. How are people going to know that Blue tricked someone by shoving Pokeballs in her shirt to give herself some D Cups?
