As the thread title asks, how do you make your teams?
Do you pick favorites or make (ugh) strategic teams that have better chances of winning?
Put down which way, why, and your current team ^^.

  • Usually I pick my teams around what's available during gameplay, what pops up and appeals to me and what makes me think "Ooh! Pretty!"

I know, it's not the most conventional way to build a team, but I do get attached to those little blobs of pixel. I don't understand how someone can think "Oh, I've trained this Pidgeot for fourty levels, but I'ma gonna replace it now with something more specialised. Just because of POWAH!"

No. I keep my li'l Pidgeot, and train him another fifty levels, and then WHOOP yo powah.

    Yeah. :)

I don't really have a current team... I sort of ground to a halt with Diamond. And now I'm engrossed in PMD. So my current team is Vulpix and Shinx! Hahaha.

But going against everything that I just said, once I get SoulSilver, I will replace team members to get Sneasel and Ursaring. Because Ursaring is amazing. You can say what you want, but I love Ursaring.

  • I go by favourites, even if it means losing power by not evolving I'll still stick with what I like. I really don't need to be strategic about everything since I don't battle online anymore.

  • I just choose what I like, but I always keep the starter Pokemon with me. I feel like I have to out of some sort of obligatory task from the professors. =/

I make sure that I have a Pokemon from each generation hat I have considered to be a favorite of mine and also that look well together and also cover all types from opponents.

  • I always have a grass/fire/water trinity...one of which is of course the starter I chose. The other three tend to be wildcards. I like to have one flier and one digger for easily warping, etc., and something caught spur-of-the-moment to aid in the next gym/champion

  • The first three Pokemon I catch I always keep in my team and evolve 2gether. The other 3 I just switch in and out depending on the coolest or most useful Pokemon I catch. (Ex.A low level wooper for surf and wirlpool.)

I use my favorites, and if I can't get them early, I cheat and get someone send me eggs like I did in Platinum and will do to myself in HG.

I usually try to cover all my bases somehow when making a team. Then during the game, I switch out the ones that don't seem to work, and snag new ones right team for me. until I have just the and everytime these days I seem to end up with either a Clefable, an Espeon, or Both. Clefable mainly in Kanto, though. And Espeon... because I always name my Espeon 'Red' and Red is love~ ♥

  • I just always try to use a different type. There's never two of the same type on my team. I always stick with the same team throughout the game though. It takes me some time to figure out what my 6th pokemon on my team will be. I usually don't have a stable "team" until later in the game. I also like big pokemon; that appear strong. Even though I'm a girl the big pokemon appeal to me. Cuteness isn't a big factor for my team...

  • With my favorites, or in the event of a new generation...

If previously established favorites can't easily be obtained (such as Haunter/Gastly, which can be obtained easily enough in RBY, GCS, FRLG, and DPPt), I'll simply start catching Pokemon that tickle my fancy.

Where types are concerned, I like a well-rounded team with a lot of type variation unless I'm in a monotype challenge (such as the Poison challenge I have going on in Blue). So there you are: I play with favorites and lots of types when making a team. :B

  • I have one team that is all strategy. My other teams I make just of the Pokemon I like. I have a team with Pluse and Minun for a lead. So I even use garbage Pokemon on my teams.

  • - I keep the starter.
    - I mostly choose based on favorites.
    - Water, Ground, and Electric MUST be on my team.
    - I will almost always have at least one cat-like Pokemon because kitties are awesome.

I usually try to cover the weaknesses of my team and hence there's alott of diversity in ma team.....I always keep ma starter and few early ones till they fully evolve..however i do change some of them according to situations like entering a cave or powerplant like thing..
