I wasn't born with dexterity, so you can guess I am not perfect in FPS/Shooter games. I am not the kind of person who tends to work on his skills, I don't like spending extra time on the screen like an addict.

When it comes to puzzles I do well, not excellent, but good.

But NOBODY, can beat me when it comes to Simulation, NEVERRRR >:)
Strategy is also were I excel, I love those kind of games and I love working on them to the max.

Though I am not a huge fan of sport, I did pretty well with all the sport games I played.

Gotta say though, I never play fighting games, no interest in them and hence, I'm horrible at them :\

I'm great at being thorough and I've a creative mind to excel at RPGs and Puzzle games. However, I also get bored easily if not enough is going on--or if the game is a fighting / sports game. This translates to a direct lack of skill, or any sort of tact at all in the genre. Simulation games are amusing, but I tend to build up quickly without any mind to maintenance--and I get a mean sadistic god-complex every time. I can stand fear tactics very well. I have medium agility to survive in action games... But I almost lack all ability to aim unless the target is stationary. I can't race a car for crap.

Well, I love action games. Have beaten quite a few missions of DMD in DMC3SE which is considered one of the hardest action games ever. Beaten whole DMD with Vergil. I guess I excel in it since I love it SOO much. Apart from DMC, I guess I'm also quite good at stealth/action games like AC. But then again, those games are pretty darn easy so I guess that won't count. XD; Never tried any simulators or strategy games so Idk. As for survival horror, I abandoned SH3 and 2 in between so that lowers my score quite a bit. I played on the easiest difficulty as well. Guess completing Alan Wake and American Nightmare count? But that, too, I did on easy. And I died quite a lot in the first Alan Wake. So I guess I suck at SH. :P As for the 8 in platformers - I almost completed Super Meat Boy. Just the second last stage hasn't been done by me and the game has since been abandoned. But yeah, I'm good at platformers, honestly! :D

    Gotta ask though - Why are there two different categories for FPS and Shooter? XD;

I'm good with RPGS because I enjoy thing time to learn the battle systems and whatnot. I'm good with fighting games because I put a lot of time in. Of course I dunno how I am competitively, KoFXIII's online has only worked once for me. :/

I was wondering this myself. I copied the categories straight from Reddit so I didn't realize at first. But, I assume FPS is strictly (as the name suggests) first-person games where you run around and shoot baddies, whereas "Shooter" would be more all-encompassing, including games like shooting ranges, those arcade games with the guns, and third-person shooters. I'm guessing this was done because the FPS genre alone has grown so large that it warrants being more specific.

Platforming is my favorite genre, and is generally always the one I spend most time on and complete 100%.
I play fighting games competitively, and generally always have a good win/lose ratio online on the games I play. I have a pretty good knowledge of pretty much all fighting games I play, and am a fast learner. (Learned to do EWGF on my second day of Tekken 6. Hah!) I'd put a 10 there, but I'm not really a tournament player and all that stuff.
Sports and racing...it depends. If it's baseball, or tennis, then I'm pretty good. I'm OK at soccer too, but can't say the same for the rest of the sports game. I wouldn't call myself good at the more realistic racing games, but if it's Kart games, then I'm really good. (Namely Crash Team Racing.)
The rest I'm either just good at, or average. Though, survival horror and shooters are just not my thing.
I couldn't help but notice that Rhythm and/or Music games are missing from the list.
Stealth is a pretty important one I see missing as well. I don't really see Metal Gear Solid or Assassin's Creed as action, adventure, shooter or whatever.
There are also mini-game compilations, but I feel as a genre it's pretty hard to determine your skill at it, since it's usually pretty random. (Warioware is the only one I can think of that fits, since there are scores for each character and the mini-games are generally 3-5 seconds and reaction-based.)

  • Stealth is actually a subset of the action genre, but they don't have to be filled with a whole bunch of guns and explosions to be considered Action Games, they just need to have free movement and some kind of fighting aspect that doesn't too heavily bleed into the Shooter, RPG, or Fighting games category. Plus, the games don't actually require Stealth in most cases, they just heavily emphasize it (for instance, in MGS or Assassin's Creed, you can kill everyone you want and still beat the game, but they tell you that you should be stealthy). The day that stealth becomes required in a certain amount of games, it might become it's own genre.

Though I do think minigames could simply be put under the title of "Party". When you think about it on a macroscopic scale, minigames are just as diverse and varied as RPGs.

Yeah, I guess you're right. That's probably the only explanation behind them being classified as different genre whole-together...

Well, I'd love to know if there are any awesome platformers I should try since you seem like a person who has played quite a lot of 'em. I've only played Super Meat Boy (good at it), Megaman Zero series (good) and I wanna be the guy (Sucked at it) and a few others.

Also, yeah, classification of Assassin's Creed as purely stealth wouldn't be right, in my opinion. Yeah, you're supposed to stab baddies in the neck without getting detected in quite a lot of missions but a majority of the game can be played as a templar mass-murderer. :P So yeah, as far as my opinion is concerned, it is more of an action/stealth adventure hybrid. As for Metal Gear, it's another story - I mean, it rewards the player for stealth. Sure, you can go guns blazing in MGS4 (or so I heard) but the main focus is still on stealth. A player can get killed in seconds if he's not careful - at least in MGS1 and 2..

I'm more of a FPS'er gamer and sports gamer. I don't really care for fighting games that much but I do play UFC. When I'm playing on PSN I'm usually always playing Black Ops, MCLA or some kind of sports game especially football. I'm a big fan of the football games and I'm pretty beast at them. I'm not saying I'm the best but I am pretty good, I'm not the best Black Ops player either but I'm pretty good aswell.

Well, I'd love to know if there are any awesome platformers I should try since you seem like a person who has played quite a lot of 'em. I've only played Super Meat Boy (good at it), Megaman Zero series (good) and I wanna be the guy (Sucked at it) and a few others.
Personally, my favorites are Rayman Origins, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Crash Bandicoot 2/3 and Wario Land 4.
The first two are kind of similar, in that they're fast paced, difficult platformering games with superb level designs (you'll especially realize this when you try to do a speed-run) and great visuals. Both having great controls that actually makes you feel the weight of the character helps as well. If you liked Super Meat Boy, then I'm sure you'll like Rayman Origins as well. They're not too different from what I have seen, granted I haven't tried SMB yet. DKCR feels more like a traditional platformer, but if there's a reason to get it it's for the level design.

Any main Wario Land game is great. Save for the first one, it actually combines puzzles and exploration with platforming. Wario Land 4 and Wario Land: shake it! got the best balance of above, since they're more of a platformer than WL2 and 3.(Wario is invincible in 2 and 3, just to tell you.)
Of course, you can just beat the level the usual way in a platformer, but then it wouldn't be Wario Land. Collecting and finding treasures is really what makes the games shine. They maybe short but they're not linear at all, and you can replay any time as you want to find more treasure.

The Crash Bandicoot games are weird. They're not 2D, but they're not really 3D either. You can't control the camera, there's no free-roaming and the levels are more linear. It's a combination of 2D platforming and 3D, so technically it's 2.5D. I feel 2 as a whole is more polished than 1 & 3 mainly because of the more polished gameplay, level design and pacing. Though I slightly prefer 3 because of the variety and nostalgia. If you want a difficult and long game, then Crash 1 is probably the one. They're all great, and got the best controls in a platformer. (imo)

If you want pure 3D, then obviously the Mario Galaxy games are the best choices. 3D Land isn't bad at all either and has much better pacing than the galaxy games.

There's many other platformers that are worth trying out, namely:
Yoshi's Island (My problem with the game is how slow it feels and I generally hate Yoshi's controls.)
Mario 64 (Bad camera, controls bad and has a lot of useless, mostly filler stars. Though it's still a classic and a great platformer.)
Mario Sunshine (My favorite 3d mario. but it really suffers from constant padding and the lack of variety in levels.)
Any Mario Bros game (self-explanatory. well maybe not Mario Bros 2.)
2D Metroid. (They're not really platformers but hey I wanted to list them because they're incredibly good.)
DKC2 (DKC1 and 3 didn't age well, but DKC2 still holds up pretty well. I thought DKCR is the better game personally.)
Gargoyle's Quest (well, I only just started it but I'm loving it so far. Very very unique game, and difficult to boot.)
Sonic 1, 2 and 3 (My favorite Sonic game by far is 2. 1 I didn't bother finishing and 3 didn't appeal to me at all.)
Ghosts n Goblins (or any of the sequels, remakes, etc. if you wanna get your ass kicked.)
Super Princess Peach (Pretty charming game. I personally loved it, but it's been a long time since I played.)

That's only naming a few. (forgetting a lot :( ) Really any of the above are great platformers that you could try. I haven't really tried the Megaman games so I can't really comment on them.

Yeah I see where you guys are going there with Assassin's Creed. I've had Brotherhood for a while but never got around to playing it, so my knowledge towards the series is low.

  • [8 / 10] Action ★ - I tend to go all out, so I can't give myself 10/10 since my defense is kind of sloppy in many cases.
[10 / 10] Adventure ★ - Never really had any issues getting the hang of these, granted I have no idea what's classified as "Adventure" nowadays.
[1 / 10] Fighting ★ Only fighting games I'm boss at are Brawl and Dissidia. Anything else I'm complete garbage in. Ironically I'm getting Persona 4 Arena day 1, so I'll try my best.
[10 / 10] FPS ★ - I won't lie, I'm very, very good at FPSs, especially Call of Duty. I would top charts in matches very, very often. I stopped playing many though, gettin' tired...except for Halo campaign and Borderlands.
[10/ 10] Platformers ★ - It's tough for me to fail at these.
[6 / 10] Puzzle ★ - My consistency is strange. I'll understand complex puzzles instantly but derp on the most obvious puzzles.
[10 / 10] Racing ★ - Unless I get horrible luck with items, I get top 3 every race. Not really into Need for Speed and those realistic racing games. Very boring.
    [10 / 10] RPGs ★ - I love RPGs, and I pretty much do excellent in them
[10 / 10] Shooter ★ - Isn't this the same as FPS? Unless this is for Third Person Shooters as well, but same ol same ol.
    [0 / 10] Simulation ★ - I kill everyone.
[2 / 10] Sports ★ - The 2 is for Mario Tennis games. Only sports game I play.
    [5 / 10] Strategy ★ - SRPGs, I'm good at. Generic strategy games...not so much.
    [0 / 10] Survival-Horror ★- I hate getting freaked out. NOPE

  • Action - love my GTA's, probably a seven
Adventure- seven or eight, am somewhat observant and like my Tomb Raiders
Fighting- only like Soul Calibur, Smash Bros, and beatemups (Urban Reign), single player is how i like em
    FPS- see shooter
Platformers- if this means jumpers, then a six
Puzzle - eight, prefer the Tetris types
Racing- five to seven, depends on if a kart racer, F-Zero, or traditional, is truggle with tight turns and realistic physics
RPGs- six or seven, depends on how hardcore the learning curve, skill trees, number of quests, movement speed... if slow then i give up and stop playing
Shooter- not hard enough for online onslaughts, i prefer casual environs and any assistance from the skilled is appreciated (Halo Legendary, and L4D's 2nd highest and highest), lack of logic and poor advance planning skills have me vulnerable
Simulation- play Animal Crossing, sims, and Zynga... six or a seven
Sports- don't play em serious only for fun, maybe middle if tennis or a racer
Strategy- 6 at most i expect, as i only chess and am not heavy on logic
Survival-Horror - low 3 most likely @ i spook and flinch easy and arachnophobia hurts

    Don't take myself seriously.
