Kieran "Kiki" - Act 1
pokegear_custom___jayce_by_ominn-d3au9he.gif

The pokéball rocked back and forth until it finally locked shut with a red flash, indicating the capture of the newly befriended Mareep. Kiki checked the Pokédex for the information necessary, along with it's moves. Strangely he had only witnessed it's Thunder Shock attack, yet it had other physical damaging moves such as tackle.

"Mareep, the Wool Pokémon. When Mareep's wool builds up with static electricity, its size doubles." Kiki had previously selected the male voice to be mature, and as such the male representative for the Pokédex speaks loud and clear speculating the unique features of this new pokémon. It's good for it's static electricity too. Plus, having an electric pokémon might come in handy at the Violet City gym.

"Alright Mareep, I got the perfect nickname fro you, zinkz. It's strong and hardy like zink, yet has that z sound that makes it sound like the bees that help nature - it's perfect for such a cute pokémon." He grins a little, pleased with himself that his battle had gone so smoothly, and his first capture was successful.

The high road was yet again met by a familiar foot, and on his travels now was his Mareep who he had quickly stopped to heal up. It bounced along merrily with a skip in it's step, whilst Absol frowned grimacing at the merry pokémon. Truthfully he was happy to have a new team member, and didn't doubt the decision Kiki made. The three then came upon a small Sanctuary, a shrine of sorts. Lush green grass rolls under the warm sun, despite the clouds in the far distance. The storm will be hitting before long. They all sit down on a fine bed of grass, and look up to the sky, wandering where their adventure will take them next.

Alex Blake

Receiving the Starter Kit!

He finally arrived in the Complex. After what seemed like countless hours of walking for him, Alex was finally there. Needless to say he was excited! And so was Daze as well! Both of them still couldn't believe they were going to undergo this journey in the Pokemon world where they'd fight many trainers and everything. And to say that a few months ago, Alex would have simply replied that a journey would be too troublesome and that he'd prefer to stay in the comfort of his home.

"I guess everyone changes one day, eh Daze?"

The little Charmander was too excited to hear anything he was saying. He was looking everywhere at once and couldn't keep his head straight. Alex smiled, the little dude really brought happiness to his life. After some walking around, they managed to enter Lyra's office a couple of minutes before she came in. The room suddenly grew silent and so did Alex and Daze.
She looked classy and professional in Alex's eyes.

"Lyra's talking..."

But she talked a lot as well. When she finally finished, Alex was quick and grabbed the Red PokeGear that he had been eyeing since he first came in the room along with his kit. Having his Starter Kit in hands, he felt like beginning the journey right away but the weather didn't agree with him so he decided to listen to Lyra and do something else. Then he had an idea. While on the way, he saw a Pokemon Sanctuary, so why not go visit it? With that in mind, he left the Complex and walked to the Sanctuary along with Daze.

"That Pokémon is called Xatu, It is said that they can see the future in their right eye and the past in their left eye" The professor's words repeated In Izzy's head, as he began to exit the lab once more.

Though she was unable to provide any further explanation, Izzy was happy to take any information he could get. Lyra had mentioned that only he could solve the mystery as to why the Xatu was following him. The day had been at the very least strange until this point, hopefully he would get some time to recuperate and reflect on that day's events later.

Izzy made it to the door, Noticing that the trainer from earlier had disappeared. He had been replaced by one of the younger hot headed trainers who had battled in the lab before; by the looks of things, the young trainer had just been successful at running another, older trainer off.

Whew! He thought, I'd better steer clear of this kid, it doesn't seem that he plays well with others.

Slipping skillfully past the aggravated trainer, Izzy progressed down the street a short distance before stopping. Once stopped, he turned around, happy to see Quirk and Eri had been able to avoid the commotion near the front door as well. He looked around, taking a visual note of his surroundings, and plotting the next best course of action.

There was always the Inn, he thought to himself, knowing that a little sleep would be a great benefit at the given moment. At the same time he knew that going to the Inn was a fantasy that wouldn't be possible, for if they couldn't get halfway down the mountain before the storm hit… they'd be stuck here for another day, which couldn't happen, due to prior commitments. One commitment being that Izzy had an important note, which he had promised the head nurse from Azalea that he would deliver to a Nurse Amanda Joy, who worked in the Cianwood Pokémon Center.

Izzy looked at the fields, figuring that if they couldn't sleep, he'd progress with his previous plans of training with Quirk and Eri. Seeing that a schedule would be helpful He planned the rest of the day out in his head: First they'd train until Sunset, then find a place to enjoy the sunset, and finally, the trio would begin to head down the mountainside once more. The plan was sound, now just to alert Quirk and Eri to see if they approved.

"Well, I think we Sound train for a few hours, and then head back to the grove to watch the sun set, how does that sound to you two?" Izzy inquired, hoping that he had been convincing enough.

Eri and Quirk both looked at each other and happily nodded. The trio then decided to quickly beeline towards the nearest open field to begin their training. As they made their way towards the fields, Izzy could see off in the distance what seemed to be a female trainer battling a dog like Pokémon; though there was nothing particularly odd about the event, he began to wonder, how was he going to go about training Eri and Quirk? He began to think about it as he went, finally arriving at the simple conclusion of letting Quirk and Eri practice against each other. This would allow him to focus on each of their problems at the same time, as well as controlling the fight, preventing any unnecessary injuries.

They finally made it to a vacant area; Izzy set his bag down, walking a short distance away, Quirk and Eri followed behind.

"Alright you two! We're going to start out with the basics" he called out to Eri and Quirk.

"Quirk, I want you to Dodge Eri's scratch attack, and counter, but don't make contact ok? Eri once Quirk successfully counters, I'd like you to dodge a tackle from Quirk, countering with scratch." He continued.

Both Pokémon readied their stance, fully understanding the orders they were given.

"Ready... Go!" Izzy shouted.

The training had begun, and as the day progressed, so did the type of training. From simple dodging to better understanding the ins and outs of each of his friend's attacks, the day went by fairly smoothly. They would take short breaks periodically, so that everyone could rest and rehydrate. After a few hours had passed, Izzy decided that it was time to begin working with Eri's psychic power; deciding that today, they would only work on allowing her ears to open just a slight bit.

Izzy knew that it wasn't just Eri who had to get used to the power, if he or quirk weren't conditioned when she used her psychic powers, they would most likely end up as injured as the last time. As Eri lifted her ears ever so slightly, for the first of several times, Izzy could feel a clear and constant force pressing against his chest. It felt like he had climbed to a high altitude, where the air was much thinner than the air was even on the mountainside where they were training right then.

This feeling was still fairly present by the time they had finished their training that day, The Sun had begun to set, so it was time they headed to the grove to enjoy the previously promised sunset. The whole walk to the Grove, Izzy was deep in thought, not even noticing Quirk and Eri playing and chasing each other wildly around his legs. He was thinking about the psychic power Eri released to fend off the Xatu, how it must have been miniscule to what her full psychic potential was. He also thought about how that blast had drained Eri of all her strength, meaning they would have to train quite a bit before they could even think about working with one hundred percent power.

Izzy's focus snapped back to the present, with Eri tugging on his pant leg. They stood directly in front of the entrance of the grove, so deciding to pass through the brush with his bag on this time; Izzy followed his two overly enthusiastic friends to the bench that stood beside the small pond.

He slid his pack off, sitting down on the bench at the same time. His friends were busy running about the small clearing, which was incredible seeing as they had just spent the last few hours vigorously training. Eri especially seemed unfazed, even after the psychic training they had done.

Izzy sat relaxing on the small bench, gazing at the small pond, which had donned the Crimson-Orange hue that the sun had so gracefully lent it. The scene couldn't have been made any better, the perfect end to such an interesting day of beginnings.

He jerked surprisingly, as he felt Quirk climb up on his shoulder. He glanced toward the empty spot on the bench, to find Eri sitting contently watching the sun setting as well. They all sat, watching an event that so many others took for granted. Izzy rescinded his last conclusion; the scene could be made better, when he spent it with his friends.

Nycteus "Nick" Richards

074.gif

1.3: A Quick Rest
The Pokeball comes to a rest on the ground after shaking on the ground for a few brief moments. Nick exhales deeply.

"We did it, Growlithe!" He says with a smile to be met with a happy cry from his Pokemon. Nick walks over towards his newly caught Geodude and snatches the Pokemon from the ground. With a smile, he examines the freshly caught Pokemon within his hands. He presses the button in the middle causing it to shrink before clipping it onto his belt. "We had better get him to the Pokemon Center around here as soon as we can.

"Groww!" His idea is met with great reception by his Growlithe, as Nick motions back towards the way they came, back towards the Complex. With the sun beaming down on him and his Growlithe, they eventually reach the building that doubles as the Pokemon Center.

Removing his sunglasses, him and his Growlithe enter, revealing a zoo of people and Pokemon, rushing around to get check ups done and Pokemon staying with Professor Lyra. Nick walks up to the counter, looking around.

"Hi," He begins, unclipping the Pokeball containing his Geodude from his belt. "I just caught this Geodude, would you be able to take a look at him for me?"

The person behind the counter looks at Nick, brushing hair out of her eyes. "Sure, it'll be a while though, we're swamped."

"Okay, that's fine." Nick says without a tone of inflection in his voice, "I understand."

"OK, just go have a seat over there and I'll let you know when your Geodude is ready to go." She says, pointing toward a crammed corner of the room with a lot of free chairs. "A lot of other trainers have just dropped their Pokemon off and left for awhile, if you want to that instead…?" She drags out a question. Nick shrugs his shoulders.

"That's okay, I'll wait it out." Nick says with a tone of slight boredom in his voice. Going to sit over in the corner, he waits for his Geodude to be ready.

….

A period of time passes, around the time of three hours as Nick and his Growlithe wait patiently for his Geodude to be freshly healed.

"Nick?" A voice calmly calls out as Nick and his Growlithe both perk up, "Your Geodude is ready." The cool voice calls out once again. Nick rushes to his feet and walks up to the counter.

"How is he?" He asks simply.
"He looks really good. He looks like he'll be a really strong Pokemon." She smiles as she hands his Pokeball back over to him.

"Thanks…" Nick says, clipping the Pokeball to his belt. He spins on his heels and exits the makeshift Pokemon Center. Looking up into the sky, he sees the dark grey clouds begin to roll in.

"Well Growlithe, looks like we had best get back to the complex for the night before we can head out tomorrow. Let's take a look at Geodude first."

He says, grabbing the Pokeball from his belt. He presses the button in the middle to enlarge it, before pressing the center button again and pointing it beside his Growlithe. A red laser emits itself from the ball, forming Nick's new Geodude.

The Geodude comes to full form, and looks around angrily. "Duuuude!" The inflection of Geodude is one of pure contempt and anger. Nick slings his backpack off of his shoulders and looks at his newly caught Geodude.

"Hey buddy, how's it going?" He begins, motioning for the Geodude to come closer. Reaching in his bag, he pulls out a Pokemon treat, and extends it towards the Geodude.

"Geodude…" The Pokemon simply repeats it's own name as it eyes down the treat in front of him. He comes closer to Nick and takes it out of his hand as Nick extends his empty hand on Geodude's head.

"Welcome to the team, Geodude." Nick smiles, before letting his Geodude enjoy his snack. He presses the button on the Pokeball and zaps up the Geodude back into the ball and places it on his belt. He turns his attention towards his Growlithe, "Looks like he likes the treats, at least." He laughs to himself under his breath, "We'll train him up when we leave Cianwood."

"Groww!" His Growlithe growls in agreement.

"It's time to head back to the Complex, we had better get some rest before we leave tomorrow." Nick says, before making his way back to the complex accompanied by his Growlithe.

Once back at the complex, him and his Growlithe enter, as he sees lab assistants to Lyra working extremely hard. He makes his way over to the building for new trainers to stay for the night. He reaches the building and takes up a free bed close to the door and lays down. His Growlithe hops on the bed beside him as he closes his eyes for a quick nap.

Miriam Jeremiah

Spoiler:

Millie looked up slowly at the professor as she arrived. She seemed a little... unusual to say the least, but it was no more unusual than the people she met on her travels. She seemed to know what she was doing too, so... This wouldn't be too bad.

Reese tugged at her pant leg. "Rii?"

"Ssh!" she whispered, patting his head. The Pokemon huffed, but then grinned at her, swinging his black legs to bounce against her duffel. Millie tried to not giggle at him. As people began to line up, Reese casually started making faces at the various Pokemon. She crouched next to him, petting his head as she had been taught to do with some Pokemon. She had never tried it on a Pineco before. She knew someone had one here, and that Pineco had a habit of self-destructing. That must be awful to watch for. I guess it would be like startling a baby.

She got into the line, motioning for Reese to stay by her bag. The Riolu pouted, but remained sitting there, grinning at her. He's making fun of me, isn't he? No... Reese wasn't like that... sometimes. He was a little playful... but never mean. Well, they had only known each other for a couple of weeks... he hadn't been all that happy-go-lucky then either. They had time though, they could work this out.

Millie tugged her hood further over her face as people passed her, clenching her free hand around an imaginary stress ball. A part of her wanted to rush out the door and go streaking through the mountains or the prisons, calling her father's name... but that was silly. if he was in jail, not that she would be surprised, but they wouldn't let her anywhere near him. Would breaking him out even be a good idea? Because he had probably done something bad...

As long as she knew where he was... Miriam figured that would be enough.

Deep in these thoughts, she found herself at the front of the line. Seeing Lyra's eyes on her, Millie quietly took the pink one and the starter kit with a hurried bow, gesturing silently toward where Reese was sitting. Then, dipping her head again, she left the line to go sit by her partner, clipping the Pokegear to her wrist and moving the rest of the items to various duffel pockets.

She was interested in the Pokedex, of course, but not quite as interested as she was in getting out of here.

Reese held her bag over his head again, making her want to take it. However, the little Pokemon shook his head no, grinning under it. Maybe he liked the shade. She had no idea.

For a moment, she fidgeted towards the door, seeing people leaving. One boy made a particular ruckus, which made her frown. Hopefully, she wouldn't see him again. He didn't seem very nice...

Finally, she left, Reese running past her like they were in a hurry. "Reese... wait up!" She hadn't exactly planned on leaving today. It was bound to be pretty late after all... "Reese!"

The Riolu happily ignored her, dropping her bag and running off. Miriam sighed and stopped, stooping to get her bag. "Silly..." She lifted the bag and walked after him. It was no use chasing him, not when he got an idea in his head. She would just have to look for him before he hurt someone.

Looking at the post signs, Millie glanced up the path her Pokemon was taking. "The... Sanctuary?" She shrugged. "Maybe he smells something good up there... but this whole place smells nice already."

She would just have to go after him.

Hikaru Morioka - Outside The Complex

Hikaru held her breath, and watched the pokèball.

Once...
Twice...
Three times..!

Just as Hikaru though she had it, the pokèball burst open, and Poochyena escaped the ball. With a step back, Hikaru groaned, and moved away so she was behind Cynder. Cynder, who was now thoroughly upset, glanced at his trainer. Hikaru nodded, and Cynder went ballistic. He gave mighty growl, and used incinerate. He bellowed another howl, building a powerful flame inside his mouth before releasing it in a large spiral. And it was all aimed at the poor Poochyena. Poochyena yelped, and fell back, and with a mighty heft, lifted itself off the ground. The Poochyena let out a whine, and licked it's paw. The burn must be getting to it. Hikaru thought, watching the Poochyena charge Cynder once more. It was a bit lazy at first, but it seemed that the Poochyena was determined to fight, and managed to make a powerful tackle. Cynder stunned that the Pokèmon was so defiant, stood there in awe.

"No time for gawking, Cynder," she groaned. "Use Smokescreen and dodge!" Hikaru shouted. Cynder obeyed, and lowered the flames on his back. Soon enough, he was blowing smoke from his nostrils to cover the field. The last thing Hikaru could see made her gasp. Poochyena latched his onto Cynder with it's canines, and Hikaru could hear Cynder's pain filled yelp. Cynder apparently started trashing the field. Eventually the smoke cleared, and Poochyena was still latched onto him. That's quite a grip. I hope Cynder's okay.. She thought with worry. Cynder and Poochyena were getting tired, so she decided to end it quickly.

"Cynder, use leer!" Hikaru called firmly, willing the Pyro mouse to calm himself. Cynder turned toward the Poochyena, and gave him a meaningful look. Poochyena, taken offf guard, loosened his bite on Cynder. Now Cynder broke away, disliking the Pokèmon even more than ever. Hikaru called for tackle, and Cynder obeyed. By now the Poochyena's defense was very low, so the next few attacks could faint it. Yet, she gave a order, and Cynder obeyed with delight. With a wild charge, Cynder slammed into the Pokèmon. Now we're talking. She thought happily. She watched the Pokèmon fly back, and decided it was time for a second chance. Taking a pokèball from her bag, she made a half-hearted throw, and hit the Poochyena on the head. The ball absorbed the Pokèmon, and Hikaru noticed that Kaizen had caught up.

Evelyn Green

Evelyn smiled and giggled softly as Rosie growled at Lyra. She followed her to the table and looked at the Pokegears curiously. After a few moments, she chose the Fantasy edition. She hugged it tightly and grabbed the rest of her starter kit. Rosie looked at it curiously and climbed down to Evelyn's shoulder. Evelyn jumped in place excitedly before running out of the room.

"Where are we?" Evelyn asked a few minutes later. Rosie sighed and shook her head. Evelyn pouted and walked around. "I think we're lost," she said softly. Rosie rolled her eyes and yawned. Evelyn groaned and sat down on the ground. She opened her backpack and organized her supplies. She pulled her inhaler out and put it in her pocket. Rosie looked around and climbed up to Evelyn's head. She settled down for a nap as Evelyn stood up. "Let's find some friends, Rosie!" she said excitedly.

While waiting for Professor Lyra, Anduin was playing around with Wildfire. seconds passed to minutes and minutes passed to hours.
Suddenly, a lady came into the room, it was Professor Lyra. Anduin kept staring at Lyra.

"Wow Wildfire, I thought she'd be an old looking lady, but she still looks young and very pretty." said Anduin to Wildfire.

When Lyra was done with her speech, everyone was forming a line to get their Pokegear. On Anduin's turn, he was deciding which one to pick. He then saw a icy looking and Wildfire was pushing his head against Anduin's, showing that he also liked that color. Anduin took it and also took some other items such as Pokeballs and a potion.

While exiting the Pokemon Sanctuary, Anduin looked over his shoulder and saw a short girl with long brownish hair and he kept staring at her while walking outside.

*BUMP* Anduin bumped into the wall and completely missed the door. Luckily no one saw his clumsy move, except Wildfire that is. Because he was laughing at Anduin.

"Stop laughing, Wildfire. It was a clumsy accident" said Anduin, while giggling.

Anduin decided he and Wildfire would train a bit more in the outskirts again before starting their adventure. While training, he noticed a bunch of rustling grass and out of the rustling grass popped out the Teddiursa again!

"You again? Are you following us,you little teddy bear?" asked Anduin.

The Teddiursa kept staring at Anduin like if it wanted something out of him.

Jonathan Hanoma
Act 1-Scene 1
First Steps

The mountain route now stood in front of Jonathan. He was about to take the first steps of his actual journey - the path to Lyra's lab. All that stood between that was a mountain route... which could take a while to traverse. But Jonathan was going to get moving if he wanted to reach the lab in time. Though he was already running late, and many Trainers were probably almost, if not already there.

He couldn't help but look around anyway. Two Marill bounced along the path and several Hoppip soared overhead. A Krabby walked along, ignoring the Marill as it bumped into them. King, his Piplup, started to walk down the path, and Jonathan followed him.

Turning back, Jonathan saw that the Marill had gotten angry at the Krabby, and they were now locked in battle. The first Marill fired a blue bolt of electricity at the other, powering it up as the move seemed to be Helping Hand. The other Marill then opened it's mouth, as a spiral of water shot out. The empowered move struck the Krabby with great strength. However, it retaliated with a fierce Vice Grip, pinching the first Marill with it's sharp claws. It couldn't take the powerful attack, and fell unconscious.

However, the battle trudged on. The remaining Aqua Mouse Pokémon performed a swift Rollout. Curling up, it rolled into Krabby then bounced back to it's point of origin. The Krabby couldn't take the attack, and fainted.

Just then, Jonathan took note that all three of the Pokémon were extremely young. That explained to him why the battle wasn't that thrilling - or long. Young Pokémon that didn't have much experience battling didn't have the trophy for "best battles", that was for sure. Jonathan started to turn around to continue down the route, but then the remaining Marill attempted to pounce King.

Jerking back around, Jonathan quickly commanded King to use Aqua Ring, followed by Peck. Water droplets formed around the Piplup, and they soon combined into three healing rings of water that surrounded the Penguin Pokémon. The move was soon followed by Peck. King's beak glowed white, then it ran up to Marill and stabbed it repetitively with his beak. The glow faded as the Marill, who was already tired from the previous battle, started to feel tired. However, it used some of it's remaining energy to summon up a Rollout, which sent it crashing into King. Both Pokémon were growing more and more tired. It could've be anyone's battle at the moment. However, the overconfident Piplup refused to stop. He launched another Peck at the already-battered Marill, who then fell unconscious, signaling a victory for King.

Looking up, Jonathan saw that the sun had just reached it's highest peak in the sky, which basically only told him that he had to get moving right now or he would be late. He rushed down the Route and hoped that he would reach the lab in time.

'Captain' Theia Aethers - Rooftop

Spoiler:
Theia stood atop a rooftop, skirts flapping in the gentle breeze. An open skirt with tights underneath was about the closest thing she could get to fashionable on her allowance. It was warm, and the open front allowed her free movement when required. If she was going make her dream come true she had to take this seriously. Function came before fashion, a phrase that would've made her father cringe. That was just the way she liked it, though. She felt like a real rebel, like the kind she'd read about in books! ...They had always been boys, though.

Sleet was at her side, diligently watching the surrounding area. "Well, it's time for a test run Sleet; I need to get a feel for what we're capable of. Ready??" she asked, moving to the edge of the building and sticking her arm out. Sleet, becoming fully aware of what Theia intended, emitted a startled quack as Theia picked him up and stepped onto the very edge of the roof. "Here we go!!" she called out enthusiastically as she lunged off the edge of the roof, shifting her grip to grasp Sleet's feet. Sleet flapped vigorously as he suddenly found himself in the awkward position of carrying Theia's full weight for the first time. For a moment Theia felt weightlessness as she soared past several buildings, but then she felt herself slip. Theia's hands were slipping. She kicked her legs as she attempted to fix her grip to no avail, jostling a frantic Sleet as he attempted to lower himself down in anticipation of a crash landing.

Neither of the two were, of course, watching where they were actually going. Before Sleet could lower Theia to a 'safe' height to fall from she lost her grip and dropped like a rock. For a moment it felt like a repeat of that time on the roof. She reached out and flailed her arms, searching for something to stop her fall to no avail; it wasn't her arms that found something. As it happened, she was falling right towards a certain black haired girl. Theia managed to land on her feet, but she had landed on something far less sturdy than the earth and it gave way underneath her, causing her to fall straight on her butt--Or rather, straight on Millie Jeremiah.

For a moment Theia was in shock. She looked around, but the pain she'd been expecting never came. She was a little sore at worst, barely even enough to make her uncomfortable. It didn't even immediately occur to her that she'd landed on something soft. Sleet fluttered down nearby, shaking his legs off and giving Theia a look. "Well that didn't work..." Theia remarked half-heartedly. "What..?" she then added, puzzled at the look she was being given. She was apparently quite oblivious to the girl underneath her and wasn't quite ready to try standing up after a fall like that just yet. It seemed she needed a bit of a reminder, and Sleet's attempts at getting her attention weren't helping.

Jonathan Hanoma
Act 1-Scene 1
Fletchling-related Miracles Can Happen. I Said Can.

As the minutes past and Jonathan continued down the route, he noticed different kinds of Pokémon were showing up. Unlike in the morning, swarms of Combee flew by. The Krabby seemed to have went into hiding, and Clauncher were appearing in their place. Three Patrat scurried by as if they needed to get somewhere. But then, a strange sight stood in front of him.

Several Seedot were scurrying away from something. What it was - Johnathan couldn't see. Though he thought he heard some chirping. And behind a tree, he thought he saw a beak.

More chirping.

The Seedot rushed behind Jonathan.

Even more chirping.

There had to be something.

His theory was confirmed when a Fletchling hopped out from behind a tree. It skipped over to Jonathan as if it knew he was hiding the Seedot. Though when the Pokémon was proved correct when a Seedot hopped out from behind his back, it got angry and ready to attack. The Tiny Robin Pokémon spread it's wings, flew around Jonathan to warm up, then swooped down and grabbed one of the Seedot in it's beak. It dropped the Acorn Pokémon onto the ground then flew back up. It dove back down to preform a Quick Attack, however was interrupted when King, without command, fired a Bubble at the bird Pokémon. Startled, the Fletchling managed to redirect his attack to the Piplup who had rudely interrupted. It swooped back up and dove down at the poor Penguin Pokémon. King wasn't one to forfeit. Just as the Tiny Robin Pokémon made contact, the Piplup gave the Fletchling a Peck. It began to prepare for a Roost, but was cut off when Jonathan commanded King to once again use Bubble.

The attack successfully landed, but the Roost continued. Jonathan wanted this Fletchling for some reason, and he reached into his pocket to grab a Pokeball. Then he realized; he didn't have any! He would have to somehow coax the Fletchling to the lab and then capture it. But how?

Mabye the battle between it and King could be useful. He could let the battle between them continue, but the Penguin Pokémon would follow him to the lab, hopefully bringing the Tiny Robin Pokémon with him. It was worth a try.

Jonathan whispered his plans to King, along with the command to put up an Aqua Ring, so he could probably withstand the Fletchling's attacks long enough to reach the lab.

It could work.

Kieran "Kiki" - Act 1
pokegear_custom___jayce_by_ominn-d3au9he.gif

Kiki stood tall after admiring the beautiful landscape sights, Absol stretching out his front paws chronologically, and then glancing at his trainer. Kiki smiled heartily, for his ideals now was to make some new friends. He passed a girl with a Riolu along his path, and a boy with a Growlithe, ignoring the two to allow them to meet on their own terms. The Riolu seemed to sniff Absols fur along the way, Absol turning around for a confused stare.

C'mon Absol, we don't have all day, it'll get dark soon if we stand around here all day. Trudging rather begrudgingly back to the lab Kiki spotted a few things he hadn't seen, for one thing he saw a rather fine flock of red-ish birds he could not entirely identify on his own, however with the pokédex's help he discovered they were a rare bird found here, common in the Kalos region and named Fletchling. Rather interesting to say the leasts, for sure bird migration has led it here. Or maybe perhaps it used to live near the cities before they all started expanding. Ugly cities.

Reaching a Pokémon centre in all due time, Kiki sat on one of the sofa's provided resting his head against the cushions, almost falling asleep next to Absol when an arrogant kid approached him.

"You're Absol is cool, I want it. If I beat you in a battle can I have it?" Kiki opens one eye to expect some sort of thug to have appeared beside him, yet all he sees is a boy, about 12 with his shorts and his baseball cap, frowning down upon him. He chuckles. Absol growls.
"Fine whatever Kid, but you know, nobody can just give away a Pokémon for free you know that right? You have to trade fairly." The kid folds his arms.
"Y-Yeah I knew that of course. I know everything because my mom one of the Professors here!" he says as if trying to impress Kiki.
"What kind of Professors work here to have raised such a foul child," he mumbles, making sure the kid plainly hears him.
"What's your name half-pint?"
"How dare you call me names, what mockery, and it's Joey. I prefer the title Youngster because I aspire to never be old."
"Yup, definitely stupid."

The battlefield is set, a one on one battle is about take place. The lights flicker, despite it not being that epic and not having that many lights; the crowd roars, again only a couple of people. Joey waves to the (invisible) crowd acting like a bigshot.
"Ladies and Gentlemen," the referee begins. Wait, where did he come from?"
"Absol Trainer Guy, vs, Youngster Joey!" The flag is lowered and it's time to battle on. The ultimate battle, hopefully it would be the first battle to go on through to the finish.
"Okay, Mareep, I'm counting on you!" The red flash summons Mareep into place, it standing tall and proud, a stern face concentrating on the game ahead.
"My turn, go… POKéBALL!" The red light flickers, streaming out of the ball in a spectrum locking on to a location in the field, sending of an array of thoughts as to what Pokémon is concealed behind that ball. It's….

Rattatta?

"Alright! My Rattatta is the top percentage of Rattatta's! Let's see if you can beat it!" Kiki's eyes twitch with regret. Such an idiot.
"Er, Mareep, Thunder Shock I don't even care."

"And the winner is, erm, Absol slash Mareep Trainer Guy," the referee announces. Kiki moans loudly.
"WHY IS IT ALL MY BATTLE SUCK, except my one with you Mareep, of course hehe."

~Kiki's side-tracking humorous adventures. Stay tuned folks!

Jonathan Hanoma

Act 1, Scene 1

Let's play Endure the Fletchling!

Jonathan soon came to realize what he was putting his Piplup though just by having him battle a Fletchling and attempting to endure it as long as possible. King was a Pokémon that never took down a challenge, though, and so the plan could work long enough to reach the Lab. Besides, he was almost through the mountain route. He just hoped King wouldn't be hurt too bad.
Meanwhile, the battle between the two birds continued. The Fletchling dove in for a Quick Attack, but was sent out of attacking line by a Bubble from the opposing penguin Pokémon. If King kept up the attacks and did them often, the Fletchling would faint. And that's a bad thing. Jonathan wanted that Pokémon, and he wanted it bad.

The Fletchling went down for another Roost. That was a lot of Roosts since the start of the battle. It could basically withstand King's attacks by doing so, however, so Jonathan was fine with it.

The Complex grew closer and closer, and the rest of the walk was pretty uneventful minus the Piplup-Fletchling battle occurring behind Jonathan.

However, Jonathan soon set foot in the Complex, meaning he was almost there. He might not be late after all, judging by the time. Ignoring all the buildings and attractions of the Complex, he raced straight to Lyra's laboratory.

Jonathan rushed through the door just as Lyra began to give her speech. Whew, just in time, Jonathan thought, panting.

"Greetings and welcome to the world of Pokémon!" Lyra began her speech, giggling. "Just kidding." she then said, smiling warmly.

"I am glad that so many of you have answered my call for help. As you've probably noticed yourselves, strange occurrences have been observed throughout the entire region. Pokémon are changing habitat, moving from areas suitable for them to areas you wouldn't expect to see them in, unusual migrations and, at times, even aggressive behavior towards humans in general. On top of that, there's been rumors of poachers trying to take advantage of these occurrences."

The professor was probably right, considering what Jonathan had been through today. First the Marill, now the Fletchling. He hoped nobody noticed the battle going on between the latter and King.

Lyra shook her head and sighed as she clenched her fists. "We… we don't know just how bad things really are. Our research is keeping us bound here. That's where all of you come in. I need you to help me by filling these Pokédexes and by keeping me up to date with any and every unusual activity you see. "

After looking around the room once more, as if trying to make sure that everyone was still listening, Lyra walked over to the table in the middle of the room.

"As you can see, on this table, there's a number of Trainer Starter Kits that I've requested for each person agreeing to help me. You will receive a PokéDex, five pokéBalls, a Potion, 3000 P and a custom PokéGear, courtesy of Silph. Co. "

Custom Pokégears? Cool! Jonathan thought.

The professor went on with her speech. Picking up a PokéDex, Lyra quickly explained the interface.

After the explanation, Lyra placed the Dex back on the table. She took out her own PokéGear and explained its purpose.

"This is the latest version of the PokéGear. The PokéGear is a tool of utmost importance to any trainer as it can act as a phone, map, radio and much more by installing various PokéGear cards into it. The ones you see on the table in front of you were custom made by Silph Co that wished to get involved into our research and help the best they could. Each PokéGear is unique so, each trainer may pick the one that best suits them. There's no two Gears alike, so choose wisely. These Gears got the most basic cards installed: the Map Card, the Phone Card, the Time Card which shows you the current season, day and hour and a Weather Card which shows the current weather as well as a weather forecast for the next three days. As you can see, tomorrow there's a chance to rain, but the weather's changing back to the way it is today after that. You will be able to install more cards into your PokéGears as you advance in your journey. Some PokéMarts might sell some, others you might obtain from people, some are given out as prizes. There's plenty to find, so happy hunting.

Huh, interesting. The Pokégear is more useful then I thought it was. Jonathan thought.

Smiling, Lyra placed her Gear back into her coat pocket, then proceeded to ask everyone to form a line and receive their starter pack as well as choose a PokéGear.

"After everyone's obtained their starter packs, you're more than welcome to spend the rest of the day here, at the complex. There's plenty to see and lots of Pokémon. If you wish to stay the night, we have a building specifically built to accommodate trainers that visit the complex. Should you wish to go back to Cianwood, you are free to do so, but you'd have to spend the night at the Pokémon Center and, since there's going to be a storm out at sea tomorrow and because of all the raining, the Ferry won't be leaving the docks until the day after." Lyra explained.

So now his journey was truly about to begin. After receiving his starter kit, he lined up to pick out a Pokégear. Nobody seemed to notice the two birds battling.

As he reached the front of the line, he saw few Pokégears remaining, however he saw an orange one that seemed to interest him. Jonathan was one that thought blue and orange went good together. He decided to grab that Pokégear, then continued down to receive a Pokédex.

After that was over, he sat down at the other side of the room and watched King battle with the wild Fletchling. He decided to test out his newly-obtained Pokédex on the two. After turning it on, he learned he had to finish his Trainer Profile. After getting that taken care of, he was asked if he wanted a male or female Dex assistant. Trying to be mature, he chose male. It was then that he could record the two Pokémon in his Pokédex.

Piplup
Piplup, the Penguin Pokémon. Although not the most sure-footed, it is proud nonetheless, getting right back up after a fall with head held high. It's strong pride makes it puff up it's chest without a care.

Fletchling
Fletchling, the Tiny Robin Pokémon. Its singing voice is beautiful, however it gets rough when others enter its territory. These friendly Pokémon send signals to one another with beautiful chirps and tail-feather movements.

Well, that explains a lot. For both of them. Jonathan thought. After sorting all his items into his Bag, he exited the building, now ready to capture the Fletchling. Jonathan reached back into his Bag and pulled out a Poké Ball. It was time. He threw the Poké Ball, and it hit the Fletchling with great aim. Now he just had to wait for the click... if it came.

Act1, Scene3: A night at the Complex
Time of day: Night

With all the trainers coming and going, Lyra's day had been full. Now, with a storm approaching, people all around the complex were busier than ever, making sure all the Pokémon in their care were safe and sound.

Budding trainers ran around the Complex, catching Pokémon and trying to form bonds.

As the Sun began setting, dark clouds started piling up, and the wind picked up, signaling the approach of the storm.

The wild Pokémon grew restless as they started looking for shelter.

"Attention all Staff and Visitors: the storm is imminent so please, head towards safety." a voice could be heard coming from several speakers strategically placed around the Complex, on various metal poles that also served as supports for various security cameras.

The tree branches everywhere started rustling and more and more leaves got picked up by the strong winds. The coming storm seemed to be a violent one.

The ball started rocking back and forth again as it fell on the ground. On and on and on, the red light was flicking and the ball kept moving.

Just as Hikaru was about to lose hope, the ball locked shut with a click. Congratulations! Poochyena was caught!

Trapping the Fletchling inside, the Pokéball fell on the ground and rocked back and forth a few times before it locked shut. Apparently all that fighting exhausted the poor, little bird.

The Teddiursa shyly looked down then jumped and tugged onto Anduin's backpack, refusing to let go until the backpack was open.

Spotting some Pokéballs, the Teddiursa reached out and grabbed one, but that caused it to lose its grip on the backpack and fall, the Ball falling right next to it, by the boy's feet.

The Little Bear Pokémon quickly got up, brushed the dust off its fur and looked up at Anduin.

"Ursa." it said as it reached out for the Pokéball and poked the button , literally capturing itself. The ball shook back and forth a few times then locked shut.

Congratulations! Teddiursa...uhm...caught itself? Anyways, Anduin obtained a Teddiursa!

As the storm roared across the plateau, the wild Pokémon seemed to grow ever so restless.

Lyra was enjoying her dinner, when, all of the sudden, a little girl that looked around the age of 10, rushed into the room, her clothes soaking wet, water dripping from her hair, and tugged onto Lyra's sleeve.

"Mommy, you need to come quick!" she pleaded as she kept pulling.

"Lilly, where have you been? Why did you go outside in this storm? You're going to catch a cold!" Lyra said, more concerned about her daughter's health than about what the girl wanted to show her.

"But mommy, there's an emergency!" the girl kept pleading with her mother. "The old tree in the grove, it fell! And Trubbish is stuck inside!"

Lyra quickly grabbed her raincoat as she started dialing a number on her PokéGear.

"Stay inside! Go get changed and dry your hair!" she yelled towards her daughter as she rushed out the door into the storm.

Reaching the Inn, a soaked Lyra gathered all the trainers present and, as she sat by the fireplace, she quickly shared the info she got from her daughter with everyone.

"I am in need of your help. Close to the Lab, there's a grove with a really old tree in the middle of it. A lone Trubbish turned the hollow trunk into its home. The tree fell because of the wind and the heavy rain and I'm affraid the poor Trubbish is trapped. I need your help to get the poor thing out!" the woman said rapidly then headed towards the door again. "I'll go notify the nurses at the Pokémon Center, so they'll be ready for anything. If you wish to help, I'll be waiting there." she added then dashed outside, disappearing behind the rain curtain.

Before The Capture

With an awkward farewell, Josh and his Chespin left this odd boy behind to see what was going on outside. Apparently a girl was trying to catch a Poochyena.

"Woah," Josh said as he got a good glimpse of the girl. She was more beautiful than... well... The moon, basically. Black hair that goes all the way down to her hips, rounded, ruby red eyes that reminded him of... well, rubies. She had a beautiful black skirt, and a pretty shirt with a red tie. She had smoothe-looking pale skin, and she looked slim, but in a good way. And when she smiled he could faintly see her dimples.

Her Pokémon was a Cyndaquil, with blue flames instead of orange. The Cyndaquil was obviously not your average Cyndaquil, and was apparently a fighter. The Fire Mouse looked frustrated, as if it wanted the Poochyena to be its friend.
"Is that natural?" Josh called out to the girl, really wanting to know how the heck the Cyndaquil had such odd flames.

Hikaru was so focused. That is until someone called to her. Hikaru turned slightly, not taking her eyes completely off the battle to the one who had called to her. She gave him a once over, and noticed he was talking about Cynder. She groaned, and gave him a fustrated look.
"Of course it is! That's the way I found him. And you are?" She called back, but not before giving Cynder another command. The Pyro mouse nodded, and let lose a spiralled flame at the Poochyena.

Josh seemed surprised at how the girl responded. She obviously means buisness. Crap. Josh thought, worried about saying another stupid thing.

"Umm... I'm Josh Hirosan. And this is my best friend and favorite Pokémon, Chestnut." Josh said with a smile as he lifted up Chestnut up to his shoulder. The Spiny Nut Pokémon only crossed her arms in responce, wanting to get out of the sanctuary quickly.

I'll register Chestnut later. She thought, looking at the odd Pokémon. It was a grass type for sure, so there was no point in challenging this, Josh, to a battle.

"Yeah, I'm Hikaru; Hikaru Morioka. And this is Cynder. He's my bestie." She announced.
Suddently, Josh was feeling very confident. Like... he was the king. As a result, a random pair of sunglasses appeared from his pack and he swiftly put them over his eyes.

"I see you're trying to capture a Poochyena," Josh said with a smirk through his new sunglasses.

"Obviously." Hikaru responded casually, annoyed by the new air around Josh. She wondered what he wanted, but there was no time at the moment, for the Poochyena made a fierce bite at Cynder. Cynder dodged, and Hikaru ordered another swirl of flames.

"Say what you want already, I'm getting distracted."
"Well, I happen to have a few Poke Balls, 'cause I noticed you don't have many left. I don't need these many Poke Balls anyway, as my luck will easily catch me a Pokemon," Josh said with a grin as he looked through his bag for a spare pokéball to give to the girl.

"Um, thanks but no thanks. I'll deal." Hikaru responded, though sheb knew it would help. She had already wasted two pokéballs, but it wouldn't matter in the end. Besides, she could handle herself just fine. It was clear he was trying to be nice though.
Josh sighed at the reply he got. He did want to help in some way. Maybe he should just cut his losses and ignore the other trainers. But... he did really want this girl to be his friend... maybe even more than friends.

"Oh... OK..." was all Josh could reply before paying attention to the battle.
The Poochyena seemed to be really fiesty, not even willing to go in a pokéball.

"By the way, would you maybe want to come with me on my journey? I mean, It's not as fun without many people to challenge." Hikaru asked, ordering a tackle. Cynder charged for ward, and threw his weight against the Pokémon, knocking him back a little.

"What?? You want me to come along??" Josh asked, so stunned that his sunglasses even fell off and landed on Chestnut's head. He was kinda worried on how he would act, but he didn't care.

"Sure, I'd love to go!" Josh said, with a really excited tone.
"Good, now hush so I can battle." Hikaru said, now completely focused.

The Capture

The ball shook, and just as Hikaru was about to groan, it clicked. She waited a moment, waiting for the Pokémon to once again release itself. But it stayed in. Hikaru cheered, and ran to pick up the ball, which now contained a freshly caught Pokémon she didn't know until Josh had said something. She quickly released it again, and registered it in her Dex.

"I'll name you Polly!" She exclaimed happily. Cynder obviously had no time for fun before he made a friend with the Poochyena. All of a sudden Hikaru heard an announcement on the loud speakers.

"Attention all Staff and Visitors: the storm is imminent so please, head towards safety."

"Heard that Hirosan? We'd better get inside." She said with a happy smile after returning her pokémon. She rushed for the building, and walked in as the professor asked for help. Listening greatly for the information, she rushed out behind Professor Lyra.

Act 1, Scene 1

Trubbish's Terrible Tree-Topple!

After the Fletchling (who was later nicknamed Ruby) was successfully captured, Jonathan spent the rest of his afternoon exploring the Complex. Jonathan released King and Ruby out of their Poké Balls to be able to stroll around with him, however they continued battling. In the end, the match ended up as a draw.
After healing them both at the Pokémon Center-like building, he traveled to the Berry Field. He picked a Sitrus Berry and two Lum Berries, giving the former two to his Pokémon.

Night quickly fell, and the skies became shrouded in dark clouds. The wind picked up, signaling an upcoming storm. Jonathan knew to take shelter, but there was really only one place to go. The Pokémon Center? Then something caught his eye; the inn!
"Attention all Staff and Visitors: the storm is imminent so please, head towards safety." went several speakers, scattered around the Complex so everyone could hear. This storm was obviously getting pretty harsh, and Jonathan needed to take shelter.

He raced to the inn, arriving at a time when very little were there. After hanging out in the lobby for a while, he peeked out the window. The storm raged across the plateau. Turning back around, he saw a familiar face in the room. Sitting by the fireplace was a horribly drenched Professor Lyra.

Many others were there. And they weren't before, triggering Jonathan to realize how long he had been staring out through the window. Something important must have been going on.
"I am in need of your help. Close to the Lab, there's a grove with a really old tree in the middle of it. A lone Trubbish turned the hollow trunk into its home. The tree fell because of the wind and the heavy rain, and I'm afraid the poor Trubbish is trapped. That poor Trubbish! But Jonathan didn't know if he wanted to go or not. Sure, a Pokémon was in need, and he wanted to save it, but the storm was going worse. Nobody would want to be out in that. Except maybe King... he loved rain, now matter how intense the storm. The urge to help somehow overcame the urge to avoid the storm. Jonathan needed to help the poor, unfortunate Pokémon.

He was going to do it. Jonathan opened up the inn door, ready to head to the grove.

"Heard that Hirosan? We'd better get inside," she said with a happy smile after returning her Pokémon.

"You know I am, gurl," Josh said, carrying Chestnut on his shoulders. She didn't seem to care that her Trainer was now accompanying a very, very, very, very attractive girl on his journey.

As Hikaru ran to the nearby Pokemon Center, Josh followed at the same pace, somehat worried that his hat would fall off of his head.

"I am in need of your help. Close to the Lab, there's a grove with a really old tree in the middle of it. A lone Trubbish turned the hollow trunk into its home. The tree fell because of the wind and the heavy rain and I'm afraid the poor Trubbish is trapped. I need your help to get the poor thing out!" Professor Lyra said rapidly then headed towards the door again.

"I'll go notify the nurses at the Pokémon Center, so they'll be ready for anything. If you wish to help, I'll be waiting there." she added then dashed outside, disappearing behind the rain curtain.

"Well... then we gotta save the Trubbish! Come on, Hikaru, let's go!" Josh called out as he ran out towards the fallen tree.

Hikaru tagged along behind Josh, and turned back to face the direction the they had left in. She followed the footprints in the mud, and when she finally caught up, she was soaked to the bone. Her hair was drenched, and she could barely see.

Josh noticed that his new friend was drenched from the rain. Luckly, he'd packed a towel because it was basically summer-time, and... you know.

"Here, Hikaru, you can dry your hair off with this," Josh said to her as he dug around in his bag for the towel.

With a nod of thanks, Hikaru took the towel, and dried her hair until the towel itself was soaked. She handed the towel back to Josh, and looked at the Professor.

The tree was huge, but there were tiny cracks that allowed you to see the inside. It was hollow, but it was hard to tell where the Pokémon had entered it. The wind howled again, and Cynder shivered, lowering his flame. Hikaru returned him to his pokéball, and added it to her belt.

"Can you see it Josh?" She asked.

"Yea, I can. I could probably get that Pokemon out of there, too," Josh said as he grabbed a spare Pokeball from his pack.

"Put that away! How are you gonna attack it while it's in the tree?" She snapped. Hikaru walked around the tree, searching for a point of entry. How did it get in there? She thought.

"I was just kidding. Yeesh." Josh said to Hikaru, putting the ball back in his bag. Although he did question how he could attack the Pokemon when it was stuck inside a tree.

"Sure you were." Hikaru said, giving him the yeah-right look. She looked back to what she was doing.

"Alright... but what are you doing?" he asked Hikaru, tilting his head to the right a little.

"I'm looking to see if I can find where the Pokémon entered the tree. If I can find the point to entry, I might be able to get him out." She responded, looking around. Her expression was a worried one, but she wasn't going to admit that.

"Alright." Josh said, sitting down on the tree. When he did so, he heard the Pokemon cry out.

"Truuuuuuubb!!!" The Pokemon cried out.

"JOSH! GET OFF THE TREE!" Hikaru yelled, stomping over to him. She gave him a harsh glare, and knocked softly on the wood. Another cry.

"Trub!" The Pokemon cried out again.

As he stood up, Josh said "Sorry." Chestnut sighed, and got down off of her Trainer's shoulder.

"What should we do about this...?" Josh asked to no one in particular, his fingers resting on his chin.

"It's fine. I apologize for yelling." She said with a sigh. She looked over at the tree, and listen to the cries coming from inside.

"I'm not sure... It look's like it's in this area though.." She summarized, inspecting the tree carefully. She had no idea what to do, but she knew the best thing was to find the entry point.

"Attention all Staff and Visitors: The storm is imminent so please, head towards safety" A voice announced over a nearby loudspeaker.

The wind had been picking up speed rapidly over the last few minutes; the once peaceful trees began to dance furiously in all directions. A half an hour ago, Izzy and his friends had been idly watching the sun set, but now he had begun to make his way out of the complex. After all, He needed to get back to Cianwood to deliver the "oh so important" letter he had been given.

Once the loud speaker had announced that the storm had obviously moved into the area, Izzy stopped put his raingear on. He had donned a heavy canvas poncho, pulled his shemagh over his face for protection, and slid his goggles from the top of his hat to over his eyes. After all was said and done, Izzy glanced at his traveling companions, knowing that if this storm was going to be half as bad as he thought, they'd be safer In their Pokéballs.

"I know I don't do this often, but I'm going to have to return you to your Pokéball, ok Quirk? That means you too Eri…" Izzy said, removing their respective Pokéballs from his belt.

Though both Quirk and Eri didn't look too thrilled with the suggestion, they reluctantly agreed. Izzy placed the Pokéballs back on his belt, and turned his attention towards exiting the complex. Almost as soon as he had begun to walk, the rain started down in sheets. Puddles quickly invaded crevices and depressions in the path; he was delighted that he had time to prepare before this fairly heavy onslaught of rain.

Izzy began to reach the center of the complex again, as he did; he could make out several figures dashing frantically towards the inn. Sensing that something may be wrong, Izzy decided to stop in and investigate. He made his way into the inn, only to find a distraught Lyra, and a handful of trainers from earlier. She had just begun to inform the others that there was a Trubbish that had become stuck in a fallen tree, in a grove near the lab. Though he had no clue what a Trubbish was, he could deduce that it was in fact a Pokémon, and it might be injured.

"I'll go notify the nurses at the Pokémon Center, so they'll be ready for anything. If you wish to help, I'll be waiting there." Lyra said, rushing past Izzy and out into the rain once more.

He knew right away that he was personally obligated to assist, what with his medical knowledge and access to a proper field medical kit. Izzy quickly exited the Inn, en route to the Pokémon Center; as soon as he stepped into the cold spring showers he could see the showers had evolved from sheets of rain into a torrential downpour in the few minutes he had been inside. The visibility was nil, even with his goggles on, only able to see maybe a meter of darkness around him.

As Izzy made his way to the center, He could make out other trainers who had been in the inn as well darting every which way, some seemed to be headed towards the lab and the area where the grove was said to be. He hoped they were not rushing into trouble, with the situation in such a liquid shape, anything could happen. Navigating these thoughts as he went, Izzy considered a scenario in which another trainer was injured as well as the Pokémon. He was unsure how the situation could be handled in this dreadful weather, but hopefully they wouldn't have to cross that bridge.

The Pokémon center was barely visible through the rain, though the closer he got, the more it seemed to light up with activity. As he entered the small covered patio before entrance, Izzy noticed there were a couple of dog-like Pokémon, as well as a Psyduck huddled near the door. When he opened the door, he paused to let in the small group of soaked Pokémon to scurry inside.

Izzy turned to see Lyra talking to the on call nurse; not knowing what a Trubbish was, he had no way of correctly identifying injuries the Pokémon may have sustained, so he let the door shut behind him and waited to be informed of the situation.

Spoiler:

Millie really had no warning of what just happened. She had been running after Reese, the little guy being naturally excited and probably wanting to fight something as much as she didn't. She shook her head. Pokemon are nice... she thought. But I can barely handle Reese. How can I have five more? She wasn't even going to go into other human beings, especially ones she met more than once.

...When she found her father, she was going to give him a nice punch. Maybe two for good measure.

Thinking about this, not to mention looking for her Pokemon, Millie heard none of the commotion going on just above her head. Then she caught a glimpse of Reese and called out to her Pokemon. "Get back here!" Her Riolu turned, pout armed and ready to induce all manners of guilt trips, before he then proceeded to bark at her, loudly. Millie had no idea what that meant. He jumped around and pointed over her head, but Millie turned to look a little bit too late. Something, a very human something, hit her hard from behind and knocked her to the ground face first.

"Ow..." Her nose and chest ached, but she couldn't move to check if there was any bruising. She doubted there was, but still. It wouldn't hurt to look. Unfortunately, whatever was on top of her seemed less likely to budge than she would be. Near her head. Reese had come over, barking and jumping up and down with anger. He was brandishing his big blue fists at whatever it was, which probably didn't even seem to notice her. Gingerly, Millie moved her hands and began to push down at the ground to lift her back up.

Not the politest way to tell someone to get off, but maybe the movement would make the other person pay attention. Then she coughed softly. "Um... if you don't stand up, you're going to end up falling backwards..."

Reese huffed at this, raising a small fist towards the mysterious person... Pokemon... thing she couldn't see and shaking it in anger. Hopefully her bag wasn't crushed...

As professor Lyra begun her speech, Mina's attention shifted towards the people in the room. For the first time since her arrival, she was actually paying attention to those around her. Most everyone seemed to pay attention to everything the Professor said so the girl took advantage of everyone being distracted, to scout the room for potential travelling companions.

Chibi seemed to be immersed in Lyra's explanations, as the Candle Pokémon's eyes were pinned on the woman and she didn't even notice the fact that her trainer had long left her side and gone towards the table to check the Pokégears.

Mina's eyes fell, once again, on brown-haired boy and his Cyndaquill. He seemed so focused on Lyra, that Mina couldn't help but smiling. He looked kind of funny, staring like that. Pinning her eyes on the boy for no more than a few moments, the girl decided that she would MOST DEFINETLY approach him at some point. She STILL had no idea what it was about him that made her so curious, but she ABSOLUTELY HAD TO satisfy her curiosity.

Around the same time, a frail, but cute looking girl that looked to be no more than ten years old arrived, seemingly late and immediately asked Lyra for explanations in what seemed to Mina like the cutest voice ever. The little girl was accompanied by a Zorua that seemed to love resting on its trainer's head.

Watching the girl, Mina couldn't help but want to get to know her. A newfound instinct made its way into the girl's mind and soul. She felt the urge to be there, by the adorable girl's side, she suddenly felt protective of her, even though she didn't even fully understand her feelings.

Soon enough, a line was formed so people can choose a Pokégear and receive the rest of their Starter Kits. Mina picked up her backpack and then grabbed her Litwick and gently wrapped her arms around her, as the Pokémon looked up at her trainer, confusion in her eyes.

"It's almost time to go, Chibi." Mina said with a smile and the Pokémon nodded.

Sneaking through the crowd, Mina picked a place towards the end of the line and kept watching the table and every trainer as they picked their things up, hoping that no one picks up the Pokégear she set her eyes on, a cute, purple one that the girl thought would work great with her style. Luckily, nobody seemed to show interest in it so, when she was up, she quickly grabbed it and gave it to Chibi to hold, as she picked up everything else from Lyra.

Stepping aside, the girl opened her backpack and placed everything in the right pocket, her eyes subtly scouting the room once more, slowly following the two people she was interested in, as all the trainers started leaving. She noticed the boy, getting ready to leave. For some odd reason, however, he seemed to look over his shoulder, straight in their direction. This caused the girl to look away for just one second, enough for a loud thud to be heard and for her to look towards the source of the noise and spot the very same boy bumping into the nearest wall and his Pokémon laughing at him. Mina shook her head and covered her mouth to stop a giggle from escaping.

Soon after the boy was out of sight, Mina shifted her attention towards the little girl and could see her leaving the room.

"Hey, wait up!" Mina thought but didn't dare asking, as she found doing something like that odd, given the fact that the two girls didn't even know eachother. She instead decided to rush after the girl and introduce herself so she quickly zipped her backpack and followed the girl, keeping some sort of distance between them.

At some point, the little girl stopped and Mina could clearly hear her say that she was lost. She expected the girl to start crying or start yelling for help, instead, the girl simply groaned and sat down for a while, organized her backpack and then got back up and seemed determined to get her journey started.

Mina quickly searched her backpack for her Journal and a pen and ripped a piece of paper out of it. She then hastily wrote the following:

"I am so sorry for this indirect and seemingly rude way of getting in touch with you, but I am in a hurry and I honestly wouldn't want to scare you off by hastily introducing myself and then running off. You'd think I was crazy…

I saw you in the Lab earlier and I'd like for us to travel together and maybe even become friends at some point. I'll be at the Inn tomorrow morning, should you choose to accept my humble invitation.

I'm looking forward to meeting you and I hope your first day as an official Pokémon trainer goes well.

Best of luck,
Mina Akimoto & Chibi

P.S. To reach the exit, take a left, then a right at the next junction and then go straight ahead.
P.P.S. I hope that didn't make me look like a stalker."

She then folded the paper and wrote "To the little girl with the Zorua" on the side, as clear and as large as she could, making the text stand out by bolding it with her pen. Quickly rushing by, Mina "dropped" the note on the ground, in the girl's way and crossed her fingers, hoping that it will reach the person it was meant to get to.

Outside, Mina and Chibi felt a lot better than in the Lab. The two smiled and quickly dashed through the fields, enjoying the day. A few Voltorb rolled about and a group of Geodude seemed to be wrestling somewhere nearby, their cries being the only thing signaling their presence. Soon enough, the two partners reached a tiny grove and could see a couple of berry shrubs next to a comfy-looking bench and to what seemed like a well.

Chibi jumped off her trainer's arms and hopped over to the bery shrub. Grabbing one with her tiny little hands, Chibi carried it over to her owner and handed it to her. The berry seemed to be purple on the top half and yellow on the bottom half and it was slightly rhombus-shaped. It was a Chesto Berry.

Mina picked up the berry and Chibi happily pointed towards the shrub, as if encouraging her trainer to pick up some more. The girl smiled and decided to do so, thinking that berries could be helpful. A notice was posted in front of the shrub:

"Chesto Berry Shrub

Chesto Berries may be used or held by a Pokémon to recover from sleep. Their texture and taste are extremely dry, and its thick skin and fruit are very tough, however, the entire berry can be consumed.

Trainers may only pick Three berries. Should they pick more than three, they are to replant all the extras."

"Three, huh? Well, we got one, so that means two more!" the girl cheerfully said as she quickly picked two more ripe berries and placed them in a special pouch and then in her backpack.

Mina and Chibi spent the rest of the day loafing around, planning ahead and having fun, watching all the various Pokémon the Complex had to offer. As the Sun started setting and the wind picked up, a storm warning could be heard coming from the speakers placed throughout the Complex, followed by advice to take shelter. The girl quickly picked up her backpack and she, along with Chibi, quickly rushed to the inn. They made it just in time as, the moment they stepped inside, it started pouring.

Shortly after they booked a room, the two decided to have dinner, but, just as they were about to head to the dining area, a soaked Professor Lyra dropped by the Inn and asked for help. Apparently, a Trubbish that lived in a hollow tree, in a grove by the Lab was now trapped in its own home as the old tree collapsed under all the rain and strong winds.

"We should help too!" Mina told Chibi as she took out her purple raincoat and her matching rain boots and, as she quickly equipped herself for an adventure out in the storm, she quickly rushed after professor Lyra and towards the Pokémon Center.

As she got there, she noticed another boy waiting for the Professor. He seemed lost so she decided to approach him.

"Are you waiting for the Professor too?" she asked the boy as she was trying to distinguish his face behind his goggles and his weird-looking scarf.
