Auditions for the role of 'Shade,' an up and coming member of Team Rocket in the film everyone was tipping to be the biggest blockbuster since the scintillating 'S.S. Anne.' This film was called 'Team Rocket: Another Perspective,' and upon it being revealed that Brycen would both play a minor cameo role and be directing had everyone eagerly anticipating it. It was a high end film with a very large budget, and plentiful special effects expected because after all Brycen was always one for special effects. One by one young, promising actors were doing their best to impress. Brycen, along with several other highly regarded members of the film community were quietly taking notes, one female in particular was incredibly loud and critical of the hopefuls. Eventually came Taylor's turn, he did his best and thought he did very well. Brycen's round of applause at the end basically confirmed this.
Since Taylor was the last to attend the trial before lunch, Brycen approached him directly afterwards. 'Son,' Brycen began, he always called Taylor son, 'you were fabulous out there.'
Taylor replied with his trademark smile, one that exuberated so much self-confidence, 'Cheers Mr. Brycen,' he chuckled.
'Oh hush boy, you still don't have a Pokémon of your own yet do you?' Brycen quizzed.
"Well uh no because my dad said-," Taylor began before Brycen turning on him in a flash, they were walking to the buffet. Suddenly in his hand was an egg, and a broad grin covered his face.
"Here my boy, consider it yours! It's about to hatch!" Brycen's face had lit up, and not wanting to offend his mentor Taylor sheepishly said thanks and took the egg. The pair remained together for the rest of the evening, watching others perform and Taylor was impressed, and felt threatened, by the level of competition. People were coming from all over the globe to the main HQ of Unova's film industry, Virbank. As the auditions came to a close Brycen again pulled Taylor over to one side, the latter absolutely fascinated by what was contained in the egg. Was it a Dratini? Or maybe a Larvitar? It had to be something cool! "Son you're going to be on the film, I'm directing and it's my decision and I want you to be Shade!" Taylor was left speechless, although he was confident in his abilities he didn't expect to get the main role in one of the biggest films of the decade on his first attempt, as a rookie! "I'll stop round later on to let your mother know what's happened," Brycen added before giving Taylor a quick hug. Taylor, not usually one for hugs, embraced his mentor before heading home, egg in hand.
Upon getting home, Taylor removed his earphones and walked straight into the kitchen where his mother was just serving up dinner. His family had waited for him to get home it seemed. "Richard, dinner time!" she called to Taylor's father. Taylor sat the egg down on the table and didn't wait for his father to arrive before digging in. As soon Richard entered the room, the man froze. Taylor's mother shot him a look, telling him to stop, but this was ignored by Richard.
"What the hell is that?" Richard said, anger in his voice. Taylor, thinking it was a remark about what his mother had cooked to eat, ignored his father. "TAYLOR WICK WHAT IS THAT!" he roared, Taylor turned briskly, a puzzled look in his eye. Richard's eyes were locked on to the egg on the table, his eyebrows knitted in to a frightening frown.
Taylor gulped, took a deep breath and spoke out in a calm and level voice; "Well Mr. Brycen gave it to me as a congratu-" before he finished his sentence he knew to stop. His father was never a big fan of Brycen, he was jealous how he was still friends with his mother, and he was overprotective to put it better. To make matters worse, Brycen walked in, like he said he would.
"What. Are. You. Doing. Here," Richard growled, emphasizing the anger on each word. Taylor's mum was just looking disappointingly.
Brycen, being the cool character he is just replied causally, "Oh, I've just come around to inform you of Taylor being given the role of Shade in the movie." Richard just scoffed. This touched a nerve for Taylor who ran out of the kitchen and then the house, but not before snagging his egg. "TAYLOR," Brycen and Richard both exclaimed before exchanging a heated look and charging after Taylor, Richard being the more athletic being faster.
Upon reaching Taylor in the large ranch/garden of their home. He was sitting with what appeared as a giant keyring. Richard stopped in his tracks. "No," he uttered. Brycen stopped to, albeit with a smile on his face. Taylor turned to his father and mentor, a smile on his face as well. "HOW DARE YOU GIVE MY SON A KLEFKI FOR HIS FIRST POKÉMON?!" Richard roared, clearly unapprovingly. He then launched an Ultra Ball into the air releasing a three headed dragon, Hydreigon.
"It's not a Pokémon's ability which is important, it's up to the trainer to bring out its maximum potential," Brycen replied releasing his Beartic, a huge Polar bear, and a very intimidating one at that. Both of the Pokémon were.
"STOP IT," Taylor roared as the bear launched a huge number of large icicle spears towards the dragon, who immediately launched a huge star of fire in reply, melting the ice and immediately knocking out the Ice type Pokémon. Brycen winced from the heat.
"You're not having a Klefki Taylor." It was a statement, not a suggestion. Taylor's dad wasn't having any of it. "Fire Blast on the Klefki."
The dragon repeated the attack it previously used leaving Klefki being incredibly scared and unable to move. Taylor dived towards the set of keys and dragged it from danger, the flames skimming him causing slight burns and ripping through his jeans. "I'M NOT JOSHUA DAD, I'M LEAVING." Brycen disappeared into the night, along with his Beartic.
Taylor's mum and dad convinced with all their might to get him to reconsider, but he denied everything they said. He packed his things and said goodbye, leaving without looking back, despite this there were tears in his eyes. His Klefki was floating overhead and after sometime together she cheered up Taylor with her bubbly personality. The pair were obviously meant to travel together, Klefki was a sign. They complimented each other perfectly.
Taylor eventually made it back to Pokéstar Studios, where he informed Brycen of him turning down the role, and that he was grateful. Brycen understood completely and Taylor asked for one more thing, for help to get to Johto so he could visit his brother, Brycen complied and using one of Pokéstar Studios jets, Taylor was flown out to Johto to begin his brand new adventure.
