  • Kerri had wandered in idly, having heard the notice while listening to her radio. She notices Bryan dosing in the chair, and crouches beside him. As the others enter, she loudly greets them all.

    "Hi everyone!"

This rouses Bryan, and he begins explaining. Kerri wanders away as he talks, finding a comfortable chair.

    She introduces herself last.

"I'm Kerrigan Nios, but most folks call me Johto! I guess it's because o' my accent... Call me what ever ya want!"

She chuckles to herself as he finishes his speech.

    "Team Rocket. I remember them..."

She idly adjusts her hat as she thinks for a moment, before seeing Quilla frantically search for Totodile.

"Wow. You're really yellow. We won't have problems finding you in the dark!"

As Quilla seems eager to battle, she shrugs and leaps to her feet.

    "Alright! Let's kick this pig!"

She sends out her Pinsir, yelling his name.

    "Go POWERBUG!"

  • Quilla's eyes widened slightly as an enormous Pinsir flew out of the Pokeball that Johto hurled into the air.

Totodile, quite small in scale compared to the big ol' bug, braced itself. Quilla stared at the Pinsir with intrigue, pursed her lips, and whistled.
"Wow, he looks tough." Quilla observed. She was very glad that she had chosen Totodile to battle rather than Dratini, who would have been shaking like a maraca right about now.

Totodile glanced up at Quilla from his peripheral vision, not willing to take an eye off of Powerbug for more than a moment. He wasn't scared-- he could take this, sure!-- but he didn't want to make a dumb mistake at the beginning of the fight. It'd happened before.

Quilla made a fist and pumped her arm enthusiastically.
"Okay Totodile! Let's start off with Watergun! You know where to hit!" Quilla shouted. Totodile nodded with a brief "Toto!" before opening it's mouth and spewing a heavy stream of water toward Powerbug's eyes.

It was a confusion technique that they'd stumbled upon while running from a bunch of Ghost Pokemon in the past: a direct hit to the eyes would make those silly ghosts falter enough for them to get away. In this case, Quilla hoped that it would give enough time to land another attack right away.

  • "Slugma, go! Ember!" Diamond said. The Slugma sent out a weak ember at its opponent, a Cacnea.
"Hahahaha, really," his opponent said. "Dodge it, Cacnea." The Cacnea easily dodged the attack. Then he attacked with Pin Missile. "Slugma, dodge!" Diamond commanded. Slugma melted into the sands in an effort to camouflage, but Cacnea bombarded it still with continuous missiles. Needless to say, Slugma lost. "Slugma, what the heck?! You're not even trying! Ay ay AY! Return," Diamond said with frustration. Slugma, a.k.a. Hades, was a constant problem for Diamond. He was a very lazy, slackish fighter. He never tried in battles. Diamond had been trying for days to change Slugma's apathetic attitude, but nothing seemed to work.
"Dude, it was nice battling with you."
"You too. And my name is Danny. See ya," He said as he ran across the desert.
Diamond checked the time on his iPod and discovered that it was five minutes past curfew. Diamond sprinted home on the cold and cloudy night. On his way to Mauville, he recieved a call from a kid named Bryan Allister. He ignored it, but the kid left a message. "Diamond, you have been chosen as one of the four to eradicate Team Rocket. If you want in, go to Vermillion City tomorrow evening at sunset."
I am SO in this. Team Rocket will be stopped. By me, Diamond thought. Though he showed modesty in public, in his head, Diamond thought he was the best. But Diamond was confident about this. He would stop TR. He hated them, and he would do whatever he had to do to stop them. And he ran right past his home and left Hoenn forever...

Fastforwarding to Vermillion. Nothing much happened during the trip to Vermillion. That speech that the kid Bryan made...interesting. This would be tough. The Rockets have grown since Kanto. They probably have much better security and are much more powerful. Also, we have no clue where the base is so how are we supposed to go about this. And time travel? Impossible. It will create a time space continuum. It's not going to work, Diamond thought. Then he heard something about a battle. He wanted to battle the girl named Quilla, but she was battling Johto. The guy named Caesar was battling Brian. "Hey, I don't have an opponent," he yelled.

  • Powerbug staggers back as the water hits his eyes, blocking the stream with his hands.

Johto seems impressed. "Wow. Never had that happen before. Powerbug, use Strength to divert it!"

Powerbug glances over his shoulder at her, disbelief in his eyes. He holds his hands in front of his face, preventing the water from hitting his face. He pushes his way towards Totodile, throwing a punch when he gets within range.

  • (Sorry for going out of order, guys. It'll be more organized once Raven gets back).

Bryan's Gabite eyed Elekid, then let out a friendly growl. It was evident that Gabite wanted this battle to end quickly, but it could fight for awhile if it had to. Gabite's gaze stay fixed upon Elekid and Caesar.

Caesar made the first move, ordering Elekid to use Light Screen. A wall of light surrounded Elekid, defending it from Special Attacks, at least for awhile. Bryan had a strategy in mind, but he decided to wear out Elekid a bit first. Since Elekid wasn't preparing an offensive attack, Bryan seized the opportunity.

"Gabite, begin with a Swords Dance!" In response to Bryan's call, the two blade-like structures on Gabite's arm began glowing. Gabite then slashed blindly at the air, doing so in a dance-like motion. However, Caesar immediately ordered Elekid to use Swift, since he knew that Shock Wave would have no effect on Gabite. A flurry of stars shot towards Gabite. Since Swift is an unavoidable attack, Bryan couldn't order Gabite to dodge it.

"Stand your ground, Gabite! Swift isn't a very strong attack!" Gabite nodded and braced itself for the impact. As the stars made contact, Gabite barely moved a muscle. It looked virtually unharmed, save for a scratch. Caesar looked rather confused, but it also looked like he was expecting the attack to do minimal damage.

As Elekid re-chambered, Bryan shifted from defense to offense.

"Use Dragon Claw, just like we practiced earlier!" Gabite's claws began radiating an ominous crimson color. It then charged head-on at Elekid. Caesar ordered Elekid to stand still. However, Bryan grinned. His strategy was working perfectly.

"Excellent, Gabite. Now jump over Elekid." Gabite sprang into the air, executing a graceful front flip before landing behind Elekid. Caesar immediately ordered Elekid to turn around and use Quick Attack, but Bryan was prepared for it.

"Now, use Brick Break to shatter its Light Screen!" Gabite raised its arm as Elekid charged at Gabite. With a deafening slam, Gabite's Brick Break slammed into Elekid right before its Quick Attack made contact. A few seconds later, there was a metallic shattering sound, indicating that Elekid's Light Screen had been demolished. Elekid was thrown into the air from Gabite's attack.

"One last attack, Gabite! Dragon Claw!" Gabite's claws turned crimson once again, and it leaped into the air, coming at Elekid from behind. Since Elekid's mobility was greatly hampered in the air, it was wide open for a direct attack. And because Brick Break had shattered its Light Screen, Gabite could strike with a fully-powered Dragon Claw. The other Dragon Claw was used as a diversion to throw Elekid off guard. The Swords Dance was used to increase the power of its Brick Break attack. Bryan smiled, as his plan had worked flawlessly. Caesar was in awe.

In one last deafening slam, Gabite's Dragon Claw made full contact with Elekid. Elekid was thrown backwards, flying several feet before crashing into a nearby wall. Caesar gasped as it struggled to get up. However, Elekid was clearly too weak, and it fainted.

Caesar ran to retrieve Elekid. Bryan called back Gabite, congratulating it on its efforts. As Caesar returned, Bryan spoke:

"You're quite a capable Trainer, Caesar. You believe in your Pokémon, and that's what's most important on the battlefield. Your Elekid is going to be fine. I think you'd be an awesome addition to this mission." Caesar smiled and thanked him for a good battle.

Bryan laughed and replied, "But I'm still stronger, bro."

  • Caesar knew this would be an uphill battle. Gabite's typing was so dominant to his pokemon's typing. Caesar went with the devil he knew, instead of the devil he couldn't be too sure of. Scyther was strong, but not cool-headed. And Elekid was an electric type, which was a big type disadvantage. This would have to be a statement battle, Caesar assessed.

Throughout the battle Caesar tried as many tactics as he could, but it was to no avail. Gabite made short work of Elekid. As he soothed Elekid after their defeat, he eyed Bryan with a new found respect. It was obvious that Bryan was the right man for the job.

He slipped off to the sidelines, to observe the other trainers. It was essential to know what his teammates possessed in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

  • OoC: I'm back for about...uh...three days! Then I'll be gone a week again. xD
    BiC:

Quilla pumped her fist enthusiastically when the water tactic worked- at least at first, anyway. She tilted her head and smiled quirkily when Johto seemed impressed, but did not have much time to be proud of herself. Powerbug was on the move and clearly was going to throw a punch right at her cute little blue alligator.

Totodile kept using watergun, and was having a bit of trouble seeing past the stream coming from his mouth. When he heard Quilla shout,
    "Totodile! Go left!"
Totodile clamped his jaws shut and abruptly tried to spin-dodge to the left. Unfortunately, this little theatric-- and the lack of time that he had anyway-- made him take a punch to the tail, causing him to stumble. Totodile tripped over his own toes and fell over, looking dizzy for a moment, and then leapt right back onto his feet, looking determined. He did his best to hide the fact that his tail was going to be sore for quite some time now.

Quilla tensed up. "Okay, you've got this-- uh-- use Bite!"
Totodile instantly launched himself off of the ground and flew at Powerbug, his mouth wide open and ready to take a bite out of whatever he touched first.

OoC: Welcome back for a little while, lol.

    Short Part:

Bryan intently watched the battle. He thought both of the Trainers were capable, even if they seemed a little nervous. Smiling, he watched Quilla's Totodile fly towards Powerbug. Although he noted that Quilla seemed tense and too nervous to think about using a set strategy, Bryan recalled that he didn't always battle with his mind on the battlefield either.

He then began to think about why Quilla was so nervous. She seemed unsure of her commands, even though she was an experienced Trainer. Bryan then thought about her Pokémon. Her Totodile seemed happy to battle by her side. Bryan had yet to see her other two, but surely someone this experienced wouldn't be this nervous? Nevertheless, her battling skills were still quite remarkable.

Although, a direct physical attack against a Fighting-type Pokémon wasn't the best idea, either. Bryan was tempted to tell her to call off the attack and do something different, but he knew somewhere in his mind that she had a reason for it.

  • Johto laughs as Powerbug Punches Toto in the tail.

"HahahaHA! That little water trick was smart, but smart isn't good enough to beat Powerbug!"

She stops laughingh as Totodile bites Powerbug, latching firmly to his head.

"Oh Right. Powerbug, try Brick Break! Hit him with this!"

Johto picks up Bryan's chair and tosses it to her Pinsir.

  • Totodile kicked it's legs around and clamped it's jaws even tighter on PowerBug's head. No way was he going to let this bug get anywhere!

Unfortunately, his size was...well..quite the disadvantage. While he was latched on to Powerbug's head, that wasn't really preventing him from going anywhere.

"Go Totodile! You can do it!" Quilla chanted, sounding like quite the stereotypical cheerleader. She eyed Johto as a chair was tossed to Powerbug.
    "Hey! Isn't that--"
    Quilla stopped herself.
They were going to face Team Rocket, right?
Team Rocket wouldn't exactly fight fair.
This was no time to get distracted by the use of items around the room! It was time to get down to business and think like anything could happen. No more kid's stuff.

    "Totodile! Let go-- dodge it!"

With a muffled cry of it's name, Totodile let go of Powerbug and kicked off of him, flying backward in the air.
"Quick! Use Watergun! Try to knock the chair out of his hand-- or knock him over!"

While in the air, Totodile shot another stream of water from his mouth as hard as he could, aiming for the chair that had been passed to Powerbug.

  • Johto looks over as Quilla started to ask a question. She tips her hat. "Probably. Isn't it obvious?"

Powerbug swings the chair at Totodile, wincing as the little croc bites down. Then Totodile leaps off, firing a Water Gun in mid-air! The blast of water breaks the chair, sending the seat and legs spinning away. Powerbug is left with the back, which he tosses away.

"Alright, Powerbug. Time to raise the roof! Use Earthquake!"

Pinsir lets out a battle cry, bracing itself. It slams it's fist into the ground, causing the ground to rumble. A line of broken floor and rock rises from the impact, racing towards Totodile.

  • Quilla teetered backward as the floor began to break. "Ah! Totodile, dodge if you can!"

Totodile landed on the ground just in time to try and look for an escape route. But the attack was coming pretty fast.

"Wow, I hope no one is going to need to use this place after we do!" Quilla exclaimed, waving her arms comically to gain her balance. She braced herself and watched as the floor was torn up.
Quilla bit her lip. It didn't look like there was enough time!

Totodile leapt out of the way, but didn't quite make it in time. The earthquake attack hit his leg, which caught him into it; he was quickly drawn into the attack and knocked into a wall.
After the attack he fell onto his belly, looking dizzy, and let out an exhausted "Toto."

"Ah! Are you alright!?" Quilla exclaimed, hurrying over to her Pokemon and going to one knee next to him.
Totodile snorted dust out of his nostrils and staggered to his feet. That hit had been pretty hard; the battle might have already ended, but Totodile seemed willing to keep going.

He shook himself off and gazed at Powerbug fiercely.

  • "Powerbug, good job! I think this battle's over. Return now."

Johto returns Powerbug to his Pokéball, smiling at Quilla.

"I don't think either of our Pokémon can last much longer. You're pretty good at this, but you're just no match for my raw strength. You've got some cool tricks though!"

  • Quilla smile sheepishly at Johto and nodded, picking up a nail-polish colored Pokeball from her belt.
    Totodile sighed-- it hated losing.
"Totodile, you were awesome." Quilla said, looking down at him. "I'm proud of you! Rest up, okay?" Quilla patted the crocodile's head before returning it to it's ball.

"Thanks, Johto. You're quite the trainer yourself," Quilla commented, looking back up at her former foe. She fumbled around her belt and pulled out another Pokeball.
"Oh," she explained, realizing that it would probably look like she wanted to continue the battle. "I'm going to let my Dratini out so she can walk around. I like to keep a Pokemon out as often as I can, so they don't feel boxed in. Dratini!"
She tossed the Pokeball, and out came a very small Dratini who looked from side to side nervously before scooting over to Quilla and up against her leg. There were waaaay too many strange people and Pokemon in this room for Dratini's liking.

  • Johto nods, looking out the window suddenly.

    "Yeah, good idea. Go Moneyhat!"

She tosses a Pokeball, then wanders over to the window. A meowth pops out of the ball, and walks over to her. Johto looks out the window, watching a pair of Pidgey fight over some bread.

Moneyhat sits by her leg, watching the others idly. Someone on this team has to pay attention...

  • The ferocious battle was over between Johto's Pinsir and Quilla's Totodile was over. It seemed to Caeser that his recently assembled squad could do quite the damage.

Johto's Pinsir with its raw strength and Quilla's versatile nature suited Caesar just fine.

With a slight clap, Caesar acknowledged the end of the battle.
