Overpowered Characters?

  • Not necessarily 'broken', because I think that those two terms are fundamentally different, but, what video game characters would you say are overpowered for their own good? They can be characters who have extraordinary power and other skills/abilities and can just, destroy everything with little to none consequence, or perhaps just an invincible character of that nature. Feel free to share all thoughts!

Demise from Legend of Zelda series was pretty difficult to get through for me, personally. You'd have to raise your sword upwards and fully charge it in order to hurt him, but before you were able to successfully, he'd always come rushing at you and cause interruption. Plus, if you're not quick enough, it'd also be a bit tough to dodge his attacks. Alongside him, another would be Andross from Star Fox 64. :p

I understand what you've been through, Nymphadora, but Demise was food for me.

The bosses in The Last Story are difficult, Dagran and Zangurak were tough. Calista and Mirania (my healers) kept dying and eventually I'd just fall out. They were still extremely fun.

I hate the pipes in Flappy Bird. Too overpowered IMO. In all seriousness, in the N64 smash bros I always thought Kirby was too overpowered.

  • Seth in Street Fighter IV (any variant). Hardest difficulty. Hard to use when playing as this character, but cheap as hell when you confront him.

  • Jigrad from Crystal Bearers. I doubt anyone but me knows him or the game but he was way too OP. I was so insane during that battle. Also Cell in Battle of Z mission 26. Dear god that...ohhhh

The Cyborg Commando in Tiberian Sun. He outranges standard base defences and his cannon can two-shot every unit in the game except for the Mammoth MK II. Plus he can heal in Tiberium which is scattered all over the map as it's the currency of the game, so you can keep him alive while he single-handedly destroys bases.

  • Super Smash Bros. Melee- Final Event- Giga Bowser. I beat him once and it was by accidentally using Yoshi's tounge in the first 5 seconds and won right then. Tabu was also really hard in Sub Space Emissary

Seth is the best character in the game (AE2012), but balanced because of his horrible health. Arcade Seth has normal health though, so he's overpowered...except for the fact the AI ****ing sucks. Just hold down back and anti air his ass, and if he gets too close backdash to avoid a grab or focus attack, and then punish him afterwards when he's at minus frames. By far the easiest SF boss, especially compared to Gill and ST Akuma (who are pretty much broken). People who know how to use him though? God dammit, it's like health isn't even an issue. They're nerfing him in Ultra lol.

Of course, you guys haven't seen ****. Play a King of Fighters game. Seth at hardest is easy mode. THESE guys are the true definition of overpowered.

  • Jinpachi fromTekken 5. If you can't spam your way out of that fight, you are probably going to rage.

Here's the logic of the fight: " ' I am Jinpachi, I'm gonna break your block AND hurl fireballs at you... from my mouth... that's actually my stomach."

Devil Jin is a whole another story. He kicks you, punches you and you know he uses his DEATH LAZER THINGY when he feels like it. You know, nothing special, just a lazer that hurts, a lot.

I like the series, but I don't think it's good for my sanity. Too much rage-y thingy... ish?

But I'm not that good in fighting games, so it could just be me.

  • Grit and Rachel from Advance wars. Grit's Ranged weaponry have increased range. Damn range increases when he's using his co power too!

And Rachel is just a combination of what should've been Andy and Von Bolt. Her units heal an additional HP per turn, whereas Andy, our repair specialist, gets no bonus.. Plus she gets three freaking missiles upon using her co power. Three! Screw Von Bolt, Rachel should've been the Final boss!

Azazel in Tekken 6 is bad too. Tekken Tag 2 is really easy in comparison lol.

Rachel is SO average though I'd only put her above Andy because she gets the extra 1HP in properties, but since you can't control the missiles her CO power really isn't better than Andy's who has one of the best I'd say. Grit is downright broken, same for Colin and Hachi.

Overpowered? I'd say Kanbei, Sami and Sensei.

  • Behold the mighty tinpot donning farmer kid. Wimpy at the start, but once the train gets rolling it's impossible to stop this wunderkind.

  • Thunder God Cid from Final Fantasy Tactics. His Sword Saint class is exclusive to him and he starts off with an Excalibur and can learn all the sword techniques of three other unique characters including one that you haven't obtained yet. His base stats are top notch in every single field and he equip a wide range of clothing and weapons but you wouldn't want to since his Excalibur boosts the holy sword techniques and bestows auto-haste. Thunder God indeed.

Is Donny really that good? It's not the first time I've heard someone praise the farmer kid's supposedly godliness. I've never even recruited him, because it's such a pain in the ass to get him that 1st level up on his Paralogue, and I'm more worried about my other characters, like MU or Lissa or Virion.

Anyway, to contribute to the thread:

Gig, from Soul Nomad. You literally get to have the trash-talking God of Destruction/Master of Death come along for the ride in your body in the game. Why is he overpowered? Because
    1) He can give you 2000 level ups if he wants
    2) When you defeat the final boss, you don't actually defeat it. So what does Gig do? He one-shots that mother****er.
    3) In his Disgaea appearances, the characters always comment on his power, noting that he hasn't broken a sweat after the battle.
