Owwwwwww, I update the list! :D
Now, to reply to solovino's input:
I personally didn't like the idea of extending the genre submits to four at the beginning, but that's because I like things discretely and distinctively categorized. In the case of narrations however, where there's too many things to combine and derive from, that worry is moot by design. Thinking back about what I'm going to suggest further down, however, has made me realize how good the idea actually is, so congratulations and way well done.
Thanks. :D Yeah, I thought about it and decided the maximum of four is a better idea so that you don't have to think too much how you want to categorize your fics. XD
With regards to the choices of genre tag, maybe I'm missing something but... What is the purpose the "Other"? What does it mean if we put "Other" as one of our tags? Is it like "None of the Above"?
Yeah, Other is if the genre doesn't fit in the above. For instance, Western. I know I can't possibly list all the genres, so I just went with the most used ones.
Beyond that I think the list is OK, the "angst" tag makes my eyes twitch because of the "market magnet for 'wangst'" factor but that's my rant and nothing else; though I'd like to see more tags that describe the writing style rather than simply the narrative, because so far we only distinguish between "One-Shots" and "Chaptered Fics" or summarize the pace in "action", "adventure" and "whatever else"; there's some other good distinction that could be made, such as long one-shots that are actually composed of a collection of snippets, or a story that is comprised of multiple POVs, or distinguish between a reminiscence of events versus "actually ocurring action". I for one sometimes feel like reading a good "narration of epics" story but don't know exactly what to look for to find them.
Yeah, I guess I could also categorize the fics into writing style, but it'll be harder that way. That, and most people would want read a good action story. That's cool you want to read a story that is a collection of snippets and all, but the problem is there might not be too many of those kind of stories. For now, if there is a thread with a collection of snippets, IMO I think it'll go in the Chaptered Fics section and maybe under the Other genre unless the author indicates the genre for that fic.
Now, because I don't know that much about genres and narrative as to suggest the actual tags or even discuss how much neccesary they are, I'll be leaving for a while, maybe do a little research before coming back with something more practical. I just wanted to leave the idea open.
Don't worry, I'm no genre expert either. XD In fact, I'm considering eliminating a couple genres if no stories are under that category, but we'll see. I love your input, though! I'll keep this in mind if I decide to change a few things in this thread. :)
