Pokémon General Poll #25 - Favorite Pokémon of Each Type

Some types you can't stand any of the Pokémon in it except for the one shining example. Or others you love the type so much that picking a favorite from it is like picking your favorite child. But there's only one for every type. So what's your favorite Pokémon for each type?​

Goody! Here goes:

Bug: Heracross (closely followed by Volcarona, but Heracross has been in a team since Gen II)
Dark: Houndoom (one of my faves in general)
Dragon: Kingdra (again, no contest: one of my faves in general)
Electric: Magnezone (actually quite a hard one: Maggie is one of my faves, but looking at the list, I have a soft spot for Lanturn and Eelektross)
Fighting: Heracross again (if I have to have a different one, it'd probably be Gallade for its awesome typing and design)
Fire: Chandelure (Houndoom and Volcarona are fighting it out for second place)
Flying: Aerodactyl (probs my favourite critter ever, so of course it's getting in here!)
Ghost: Chandelure again (no contest... maybe Gengar, but... nope)
Grass: Cradily (I don't know why I like this fugly critter; just do. Don't really like any other Grass Pokemon for whatever reason)
Ground: Excadrill (surprisingly hard to pick a fave for; Excadrill only because it's proven very useful in-game)
Ice: Lapras (had one in virtually every game; hard to get every Friday down in Union Cave)
Normal: Girafarig (mainly because of how un-Normal it is)
Poison: Crobat (I guess...? Maybe Gengar again, but I never have Poison critters in a team, for some reason)
Psychic: Espeon (my favourite Eeveelution by a mile, also)
Rock: Aerodactyl again (fave. critter. ever. See above. If not that or Cradily, then Tyranitar but that's just bleh)
Steel: Magnezone again (if not that, then Metagross)
Water: Milotic (wish I could do a three-way-tie with Kingdra and Lapras (and maybe Lanturn) but one it is)

Rock-Golem, reminds me of a disco ball
Flying-Staraptor, a basic pokemon that took me all the way
Grass-Roserade, a really good grass type
Water-Gyraydos, epic with Waterfall and Surf
Fire-Infernape, a fire and fighting type
Poison-Drapion, awesome with Cross-Poison
Dark-Honchkrow, right now mine is level 86
Ghost-Gengar, duhh
Electric-Electivire, beast mode
Ice-Weavile, awesome with Pressure ability

Normal: Kecleon. I love its Color Change ability.
Fighting: Lucario. Simply epic.
Fire: Houndoom. Its the first Pokemon I remember saying, "That looks awesome" about.
Water: Swampert. First starter I beat the Elite Four with.
Grass: See username
Electric: Ampharos. Have one on every single HG/SS team.
Psychic: Gardevoir. Member of the most epic Emerald team in the history of the universe
Ghost: Banette. See above.
Dark: Again, see username.
Poison: Seviper. I have to go purely on what I think looks the coolest here, since I never use Poison-types
Flying: Pelipper. See reasons for Gardevoir and Banette
Ground: Swampert again.
Rock: Sudowoodo. Being the only Rock-type I've really used.
Bug: Butterfree. Final evolution of first Pokemon I ever caught. *sheds tear*
Ice: Lapras. Only Ice-type I ever use.
Dragon: Altaria. See reason for Seviper.
Steel: Skarmory. See above.

Flying - Swellow - Truely beautiful Pokémon
Rock - Lunatone - Gotta love it and it's power!
Ground - Flygon - So underated and such a cool Pokémon.
Ice - Vanilluxe - Such a cutie!
Fighting - Breloom - Awesome Power, Great overall.
Grass - Victreebel - Loved Victreebel from Gen I.
Water - Kingler - Loved Kingler from Gen I - Great Attack stats.
Dragon - Altaria - Beauty & Power = Good Pokémon
Dark - Liepard - Can land some powerful hits with a great move pool and cute!
Psychic - Grumpig - Again.. underated considering the Sp. Atk & Sp. Def
Normal - Purugly - Love this Pokémon, Great speed & HP.. not even ugly.
Poison - Ariados - My faaaavourite Poison type, love Ariados.
Bug - Ledian - My faaaavourite bug type, love Ledian.
Ghost - Cofagrigus - Love the defence of Cofagrigus and not to mention the design!
Steel - Bronzong - Such a tank, a really strong and powerful Pokémon.
Electric - Electrode - Speedy, Strong, Nice move pool.. generally an all-round great Pokémon & orignal.

Normal: Togekiss - because Pidgeotto will always be my #1 Flying-type.
Flying: Pidgeotto - BECAUSE HE WAS SO LOYAL TO ASH. ;___;
Fire: Chandelure - Because he kicked so much ass in B/W, how could I not include him.
Water: Kingdra - He's just awesome, I can't.
Grass: Breloom - Literally the only Grass-type I will ever use because it's paired with Fighting and it's a killing machine in my Ruby game.
Psychic: Sigilyph - Had one on my B/W team, no regrets whatsoever. Even if it's kind of ugly.
Ghost: Gengar - Classics, awww yeah.
Steel: Scizor - I had one on my team once, best decision ever.
Dark: Scrafty - Made me love Dark-types.
Ice: Vanillite - SO ADORABLE OMG ;___;
Fighting: Breloom (again) - So nice I named it twice.
Electric: Ampharos - Favourite Electric-type everrrr.
Dragon: Charizard (I wish) Flygon - All-time favourite Pokémon.
Bug: Heracross - Always been a favourite of mine.
Poison: Nidoqueen - idk why I always found her awesome.
Rock: Onix - Because why not?
Ground: Flygon (again) - Again, so nice I named it twice.

Going to use Mr Cat Dog's template (has bug first yay)

Bug: Scyther (the reaper in bug form)
Dark: Hoondoom (straight from the depths of hell, to drag you down)
Dragon: Haxorus (it's got the looks, it's got the power; all that is left is a good trainer to befriend it. Hmm...)
Electric: Galvantula (now with reinforced voltage; you better stay away from this beauty)
Fighting: Croagunk (this guy doesn't care. And props to all the time I laughed at brock getting flirtblocked)
Fire: Charizard (all-time-classic badass-dragon-pissdface-ultra-fire-breathing-pokemon-of-flying-pwnage)
Flying: Farfetch'd (there's more than meets the eye... with that stick. Want it down your head?)
Ghost: Gengar (don't look behind you. Seriously)
Grass: Shiftry (that punk will turn you upside down and you'll still be wondering if something moved in the bushes)
Ground: Gliscor (still thinking about what this pokemon is doing in the ground group instead of the bug one, but because it does I'll give it a place here)
Ice: Abomasnow (bring on the avalanche, it'll surf on it while you drown)
Normal: Ursaring (this beast will hug you and then you die)
Poison: Drapion (another awesome bug. Rightfully taking the place from all those annoying blobs of poison)
Psychic: Alakazam (shh, keep the reasons within your mind, child)
Rock: Gigalith (ever sat on a rock and it moved? yeah, well this one; it will stomp you until it can sit on you and be sure you don't move instead)
Steel: Scizor (scyther wins best bug. So this mecha version of scyther should win this, fair enough?)
Water: Wailord (I'll be your pinocchio, my big fat fearsome pal)

My favorites of each type:

Bug: Yanmega (I loved it after seeing one in the anime + awesome abilities)
Dark: Honchkrow (Isn't he awesome! Plus he wears a hat, lol)
Dragon: Hydreigon (3 heads + awesome moves = badass Dragon!)
Electric: Emolga (I loved Manectric until this cutie came along)
Fighting: Lucario (Aura Guardian, learns great attacks too + abilities associated with flinching)
Fire: Infernape (I loved a lot of Fire Pokemon but nothing beats this monkey)
Flying: Staraptor (Way much better moveset than Unfezant, and it's the coolest early-route birdy)
Ghost: Chandelure (This thing has monstrous Special Attack that could even outclass a Legendary)
Grass: Roserade (I got addicted to using her in my Gen IV teams, great Special Attack and good status afflicter too + Natural Cure makes it a great support for your team)
Ground: Krookodile (It's a crocodile with desert powers, I loved using it in Black)
Ice: Cubchoo (Aw, you're such a cutie who turns incredibly strong as Beartic)
Normal: Ambipom (Elemental versatility and cute too, Dawn inspired me to use one + Technician gives it strength in battle)
Poison: Skuntank (Jupiter inspired me to use it and Toxic is an awesome move + Aftermath can simply hurt a Pokemon that knocks it out with contact moves)
Psychic: Gothitelle (She is cool, has elemental versatility, plus the awesome future-telling stuff a Psychic Pokemon has, her Frisk is also great for finding items)
Rock: Rampardos (Hits hard, great Attack stat and awesome moves too)
Steel: Magnezone (It's a magnet UFO with Special Attack to boot)
Water: Oshawott (My all-time fave Pokemon, starter Pokemon, Water Pokemon and Gen V Pokemon, his evos are awesome and strong too - I chose him as my starter in Black and I got addicted to Oshie after seeing him in the anime + Oshie and his kin are more balanced than Tepig or Snivy)

Bug: Yanmega (relatively fast, has good abilities, a wicked design and perfect coverage with Tinted Lens)
Dark: Hydreigon (it reminds me of Cyber End Dragon and Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh)
Dragon: Salamence (first Dragon I used on a main team alongside Flygon)
Electric: Electivire (massive improvement over Electabuzz)
Fighting: Lucario (because of its role in the 8th movie)
Fire: Infernape (a kung Fu monkey is just awesome. Plus, its move pool is huge)
Flying: Staraptor (it gets Close Combat to set itself apart from most Flying Pokemon)
Ghost: Chandelure (its Special Attack is massive. It also has one of my most awaited type combinations)
Grass: Ferrothorn (who doesn't love a durian with spiky whips?)
Ground: Excadrill (I like the way it folds itself into a drill)
Ice: Weavile (extremely big improvement over Sneasel)
Normal: Porygon-Z (Tri Attack + 135 Special Attack + Adaptability + Nasty Plot = mass destruction to almost anything. That, and it has a cool design)
Poison: Scolipede (it's huge, but it's fast)
Psychic: Gallade (arm blades, wide move pool)
Rock: Archeops (it hits hard and fast, assuming Defeatist isn't active)
Steel: Scizor (Technician Bullet Punch. That's all)
Water: Swampert (my very first starter Pokemon)

I love to use Scyther, ahead of his older brother Scizor, especially the Swords Dance/Eviolite Scyther. It almost becomes invisible.

I fell in love with Murkrow when my friend gave me one in an egg in SS. I loved it when it followed me around, and I loved using roost all of the time. I was disappointed when it evolved though. :\

I used Dragonite in my competitive team, he's my sweeper. I've loved him since day one. What more can I say?

Emolga is SO CUTE! I don't know why I love mine so much. I named him Hugh. He's not overly strong, but with the right tactics he'll win you the battle. :3

Sawk is just so poweful and so fun to use. I used him in my first run, because he helped me beat Lenora. He also was very useful vs Ghetsis Hydreigon.

I love Vulpix, but I love its evolution even more. I love it even more now that it has got Drought. :3

I would have said Pelipper, but I'm reserving that for water types. Staraptor is my next favourite flying-type, simply because of Close Combat.

Yamask is so cute. I dislike how it evolves into Cofagrigus - not to sya that I don't like Cofagrigus, but I like Yamask better. He's especially fun to use when you have Slakoth in your team (LC)

Whimsicott is fun to use with Leech Seed, PoisonPowder and Giga Drain. Lol. I love mine.

I caught a Trapinch in Sapphire, expecting some sort of super awesome ant. What I got was something even better! A DRAGON! :D It's not as strong as nearly every other Dragon, but underestimate it at your peril.

I never use Linoone in battle, it's just too cute. I prefer to use it as a slave. >: )

OMG BUDEW <3 It is so cute. It totally pwnd Roark for me in Diamond (or was it Pearl?) when all my other Pokés had fainted. I totally underestimated it's power at Level 6. By golly it dominates.

I like using Gardevoir in-game. Not competitively. I don't like using male ones though, it hurts my head. ugh ><

Not cute, but awesome. I love using them in-game. ALthough it's difficult for me to evolve them seeing as I only have one DS :(

Simply because its VERY VERY useful in Rainstall teams on PO.

[Ho-Oh]

Doing everything from a competitive POV except the first one, deal w/ it. All these I've either used or faced, and find them awesome because they're annoying.

Normal - Herdier
I love it. <333 Also, Audino is also normal ;3

Fire - Infernape
As a lead, Infernape is awesome - w/ sash, vacuum wave for priority, U-turn for safety, Overheat for STAB power and CC for awesomeness, it works pretty well. In my team it generally survived to the end.

Fighting - Conkeldurr and/or Breloom
Conkeldurr is annoying to face, though easy to OHKO too with the right Pokemon. :x Breloom, however, is crazy annoying. Spore/Sub/Focus Punch/Grass attack... yeaaah it's an annoying combination and Poison Heal doesn't make it any less annoying. Faster/priority ftw!

Water - Politoed
Probably the most common water Pokemon rn with rain stall. Crazy annoying (therefore good!), but can usually be 2HKO'd, just need to watch for Toxic/Perish Song.

Flying - Gyarados
Restalk, general sweeper, etc, it is awesome.

Grass - Whimisicott
The trolliest Pokemon ever. Prankster giving status instant priority, leech seed, giga drain (or other attack), encore and substitute w/ big root. Faced it once and got annoyed, used it myself and thought "amazing!"

Poison - Gengar
I don't use it for the fact that it's poison, rather that it's fast and with LO can OHKO many w/ shadow ball.

Electric - Rotom-W
Omg, so annoying to face with the Scizor combination. It's fun to use though, Pain Split, Volt Switch, yup, awesome.

Ground - Gliscor
I love Gliscor so much. Poison Heal, omg so many possibilities. Taunt, Sub, Poison, probably the most annoying is a combination of the three, though I ran Taunt/SD w/ mine.

Psychic - Jirachi
Jirachi is amazing. Iron Head w/ Serene Grace, flinch hax yees, and CM/Sub/Psyshock, totally annoying but awesome. Haven't seen many others use that Jirachi, though.

Ice - Cloyster
Sash and ice shard and shell smash and skill link ugh so awesome.

Bug - Volcarona
QD. Fiery Dance. Bug Buzz. Oh yeeeeees. Mine's sash'd, though, and when Scizor arrived I switch to safety. :x

Dragon - Dragonite and/or Haxorus
Multiscale. Multiscale. Multiscale. SR kills that off though, and iirc Haxorus hits harder in general (love using Haxorus).

Rock - Terrakion
I love Terrakion, no harm from sand, can hit hard and is fast :3

Ghost - Jellicent
That SPd, that recovery, that toxic, that... yeaah.

Dark - Tyranitar
SS. I think I'm mainly listing it because I love OHKOing it.

Steel - Scizor
...so...annoying. w/ Bullet Punch and Technician it's almost impossible to get it to go away. On the plus side, switch in Volcarona to Rotom-W, use fire attack and boom, expected Scizor dead!

Either way these are my favourites. :3

My favorites change frequently, so for some types one Pokemon might be my favorite one day, and then another Pokemon would take its place the next day.

Bug: Butterfree (This was a touch choice, but I've always adored Butterfree.)
Dark: Houndoom (Ever sense my Soul Silver I've fallen in love with this hound.)
Dragon: Dragonair (I've always loved it more than Dragonite).
Electric: Mareep ( I love sheep. It's cute, it's adorable, and it's fluffy!)
Fight: Gallade (Thanks to Platinum. Mienshao would have to be second here).
Fire: Volcarona (because it's flippin' amazing okay.)
Flying: Togekiss (This is so hard. But Togekiss would have to take this spot here).
Ghost: Litwick (It's. the. adorable. candle. of. adorable. I love it. So much.)
Grass: Bellossom (One of my top three favs, so it wins hands down. Bulbasaur, Lilligant or Whimsicott would have to be second).
Ground: Flygon (I've loved it since Ruby. Rawr.)
Ice: Dewgong (I sell ashamed because I never used it on a team. I will someday though!)
Normal: Porygon2 (So many choices! But this little guy takes top here).
Poison: Roserade (Ever since Platinum omg).
Psychic: Espeon (One of my top three favorites, so hands down.)
Rock: Aerodactyl (Ever since Soul Silver. It's just so amazing.)
Steel: Empoleon (I don't use steels very often, so yeah. Empoleon is one of the only ones I have actually used).
Water: Totodile (I love like half of the water pokemon, but Totodile is one of my top three favorites so it gets this spot).

My favorites change from time to time, but these are them at the moment. I hope it won't be too difficult to tell what they all are.

I would have doubled up on some, but that wouldn't have given me the chance to make as many doodles.
