Lol, i like Shinx and its evos too.

Jack was impressed that Callie knew so much about Pokemon too, finally someone at his level of intelligence. He seemed to have always been ahead of everyone in his school back home. Jack released his Shinx. Who looked duely confused. It didn't seem to know where it was or what was going on. "Why don't you talk to it." asked Jack to Sillia. Sillia went over to the confused Shinx and seemed to explain. Although all Jack could hear was Sillia repeating her species name. Finally the Shinx understood. It replied saying "Shi-shinx shinx." and turned to face Nidoran, looking pepped up. Before the battle started, Jack bent down to stroke his Shinx, to make it feel welcome. The Shinx purred, and resumed its enthusiastic look. Then, the battle began.
"Shinx, use Night Slash!" ordered Jack, wanting to try out Night Slash. Shinx ran towards Nidoran and darkened its claws, ready to strike. Jack was afraid of Nidoran's high attack. So he thought, if he could attack first, he could get it down in a few shots. He had to make sure, however, that it did not so much as touch Shinx.

As Jack released his Shinx, Nidoran cast Callie a concerned look. Callie smiled down encouragingly, making a soothing 'shush' sound. This seemed to be enough to calm Nidoran down, and he stared ahead, awaiting the battle. He seemed strong and silent, and Callie could already see that he would be a mighty Nidoking in time.
Callie looked at Jack's Shinx, and then at her Nidoran. Electric types weren't well known for their defence, and the power her Nidoran had could knock Shinx out in two hits, maximum. But Jack was smart, and would've figured that out. Callie knew Jack was going to be evasive, and stop Nidoran from attacking as best he could. The battle would definitely be a challenge on both parts.

Shinx ran towards Nidoran with claws ready. Nidoran attempted to dodge, but still the Shinx managed to catch him with one of its claws, causing him to recoil.

    "Nidoran, use peck!"
The Pokemon dived at Shinx with his horn but the opponent evaded it, as Callie had half-expected. Nidoran skidded to a halt a few feet past the cat.

A change in tactics was in order.

When Jack thought about it, electric types had a low defense. Wich was bad in terms of the high attack the opponent had. However, speed was on Jack's side as he managed to slightly hit Nidoran with Night Slash and evade his Peck. But Jack couldn't get comfortable yet, an opponent of tactical knowledge equal to his would be tough to beat. Then, Jack took out his Pokedex and saw Shinx's moveset:

Tackle, Night Slash and Leer. Excellent! Leer could take more advantage of the low defense of the opponent.
"Shinx, use Leer!" commanded Jack, his Shinx did so and made the opponent slightly take a step back, meaning it was working. "Now! Night Slash, full speed!" he exclaimed. His Shinx ran as fast as it could, wich was decently fast. It looked back at its trainer and saw him wink. Shinx knew exactly what to do, Nidoran was not dumb, it would dodge this attack. By jumping either left or right, wich was the best it could do. With Leer in effect, it looked like it was about to jump right, Shinx made it look like it was going to run left. Unfortunatly the Nidoran knew what it was up to, as Shinx approached and attacked, Nidoran jumped left while Shinx attacked to the right. And missed.
    "Argh! Nice try Shinx."

"Alright! Well done, Nidoran!" Callie exclaimed as it dodged the Shinx's clever attempt of feinting. In terms of base stats, Nidoran had a higher speed than Shinx, but she knew this wasn't always the case. She was happy to see they were evenly matched, but if they were both going to be evasive no one would get a decent hit in.

    "Nidoran, use Focus Energy!"
Callie smiled as the Pokemon stood stock still, eyes closed.
"Now, when Shinx comes near, attack!"

The Shinx ran in for another attempt, but Nidoran was ready. It stayed perfectly still until Shinx was an inch away from his face, and then lashed out. The horn made contact with Shinx, and it looked like a critical hit. The Shinx was thrust backwards, greatly weakened.

"Your Shinx is pretty impressive!" Callie yelled to Jack, waiting to see if it would get to its feet. Nidoran's Poison Point ability may even take hold, but there is only so much luck Callie could have in one battle.

Shinx didn't look good, it looked like it was....Poisoned! Damn! Poison point! However, it occured to Jack that his Shinx had the peculiar ability Guts. Now that it was poisoned, its attack increased by 50%. "Yes!" thought Jack. Then Jack remembered his secret weapon. "Ok, Sillia, you know what to do." he told his Cubone. She walked up to Shinx and gave it a blue berry. This was an Oran Berry. Shinx was greatly healed thanks to this, but was still poisoned as it started to affect. Nidoran charged in again, but Jack knew what to do. "Evade and use Night Slash the minute it's in range!"
Then, when Nidoran got close, Shinx jumped to the right and used Night Slash. It hit Nidoran, making it fall down. But it got back up again and returned to the side of its mistress. The poison took effect again and Jack saw his Shinx kneeling for a moment. Then getting back up again. It was his turn, and Jack used Leer. Once again making Nidoran intimidated. Now it was Callie's turn. Jack knew he could defeat Nidoran with one more hit. Its already low and decreased defense plus by his, now, mulitplied attack was a sure 1-hit KO. The onlt thing he had to be afraid of was the Poison and Nidoran's high attack.

Callie couldn't believe her luck; the poison had infiltrated the Shinx! She watched as it struggled to it's feet, but recovered significantly from an Oran. Without command, Nidoran charged at Shinx while it was eating, but the Shinx was too fast. It hopped out of the way and attacked Nidoran with its Night Shade, knocking Nidoran to the floor.
"Ah, of course! Guts!" Callie shouted, smacking her forehead with her palm. "It's okay Nidoran, keep steady!"
With Nidoran's lowered defence and Shinx's raised attack, one hit could finish him off. However, the opponent was now poisoned, and Nidoran's Focus Energy made it much more likely that one hit could do the trick. It was completely even on both sides now, and was just a matter of who got in first.

"Nidoran, you've got to take it by surprise! Don't give it any clues!"
Nidoran looked up at Callie and nodded, before running towards Shinx. Just as it got into close proximity, it changed direction, running around the pokemon at high speed. A few times it looked like it was going to attack, but then veered off and carried on running.
The Shinx seemed confused, and there was a chance that if they collided they could both go down. Callie waited for Nidoran to lunge, knowing that whether it succeeded would decide the winner.

(OOC: It'd be cool if they collided and it was a draw, but that's totally your call. You can decide when it lunges in your post)

Alright, but it's Night Slash, not Night Shade, also, Guts is a dream-world only ability, so it's unusual. :) But who cares, let's get on with it.

Shinx was now confused, and Jack knew exactly what Callie was up to. Now Nidoran was running towards Shinx, and they had even power, it would be a tie if Shinx collided with Nidoran. Jack noted that if Nidoran got in with Peck, it would defeat Shinx. But if it got in with a simple normal attack, they would both fall. "Hold your ground!" Jack commanded Shinx. It did so, then when Nidoran was decently close... "Now, use Night Slash from under Nidoran's neck!" came the command. Shinx did so, it hit! Nidoran had been hit in a weak spot! But....Jack looked to see that Nidoran's horn had collided with Shinx's underbelly and caused final damage. Dramatically, they both fell to the ground. "Shinx, return." said Jack, returning his Shinx to its Pokeball. "Nice battle. Let's do it again some time." he told Callie.

(OOC: Oh yeah, don't know why I said night shade, silly me. I know very little about the Dreamworld, Gen 5 is not exactly my forte d:)

Callie watched in awe as both Pokemon fell to the ground. That was no ordinary Shinx, nor was it an ordinary Nidoran. They both showed experience far beyond their levels.
"Wow, that was intense!" Callie said to Jack, withdrawing Nidoran. "You certainly know your way around a Pokemon battle."

Callie was impressed, and it appeared that Archen was too. She picked up the bird and gave him a squeeze to let him know he wasn't forgotten.
"Yeah, we'll definitely have to do it again. But it won't end in a tie that time, I assure you!"

Callie put down Archen, who was far too heavy to carry all the time. She started walking up the path, in the direction of Clover City. Callie turned to see Jack standing a small distance away.

"You coming with me, or what?" She asked. She had found that she had rather enjoyed his company.

"Of course, wouldn't miss it for the world." said Jack, laughing. He caught up to Callie and they walked off into the direction of Clover City. Jack picked up Sillia, who was decently heavy. Then he thought about a name for his Shinx. Well, it knew Night Slash and Guts, so.....
"Go Sphinx!" exclaimed Jack as he let out his Shinx. He had decided to name it Sphinx because it had two unusual features, Night Slash and Guts, while an egyptian Sphinx had two also, the face of a man and the body of a lion. Sphinx was still a little weak from the battle but held its head up high. "Look who's proud of his power." chuckled Jack as Sphinx, while still battle-damaged, walked long strides. Finally they reached Clover City, while small, it was a busy place. People with Pokemon following them were everywhere. Clover City was known for its high stock on potions and such, it was named Clover City because of the clover-shaped luck charms that certain sellers gave away. The Clover Luck Charm was an item for a Pokemon to hold, it increased chances of critical hits. Wich would actually go duely well with Shinx's ability. The twosome approached the main square. Not so many people were here because there were no marketplaces. So Callie and Jack went to sit down by the fountain in the middle of the area. Wich, funnily enough, featured a Magikarp spouting water. "Ugh, my feet!" said Jack as he sat down on the ledge of the fountain. he took off his shoes and scratched them, desperate to get rid of the annoying pain that had develpoed there since they started walking.

Jeez, it's just me and Arcaray keeping this alive! Others better reply soon. Fearless Love and NamelessGuy have already been kicked out. So there are two spots open.

As Callie and Jack walked side by side, she became aware that her ally had nicknamed his Pokemon. She looked down at Archen and her newly caught Nidoran, considering naming them for the first time. She had always thought that her and her father would name her first Pokemon together, and so it hadn't occurred to her to name them on her own.
She thought about it silently on their way to Clover City. As soon as Clover was in view, she had decided.
"Archen, you'll be Achilles, the great hero! Nidoran, you're now Kratos, known for his power and strength!" The two seemed happy with this, and Callie felt that her knowledge of Greek mythology had finally found some use. She remembered the weirdest things sometimes.

Clover City was so different from Chartreuse. It bustled with people and Pokemon, scrambling at markets or comparing purchases. Kratos was getting agitated in the crowds, and so the two found their way to the Magikarp fountain. Callie laughed as Achilles hid from the water that Kratos was splashing in.
Jack relaxed and took off his shoes, but Callie was eager to look around. A city like this was much more interesting when you have Pokemon, and she hadn't forgotten that both of their families were missing. She scanned the area for a Pokecentre, but the steady flow of water eased her excited mind.
"Let's just... sit." She said, breathing in the cool air.

That's alright, then. I'll send him a VM telling him.

Jack pulled out his map, they were, of course, in Clover City. Now they had to go to the lake west of here. "Come on, Callie, we should find Lyall." said Jack. Now that they had both been relaxed, it was time to go. The two set off from Magikarp square all the way to the west end of the city. It acctually wasn't that far.
Jack looked at his map again and realized that this lake was also part of the city. "This is it." said Jack as they both entered the way to the lake. Wich was a forest, teeming with bug-type Pokemon. Suddenly, Jack could feel a small sting in his leg, hey! A Weedle had stung him. "Ouch! What was that for?" Jack said to the Weedle. "Oh, i get it. You wanna battle." he said, grinning. "Sillia, you're up." he then said. Sillia walked up to the battlefield. The Weedle used Poison sting, almost Poisoning Sillia but having not much effect. "Sillia, use Double Kick." said Jack, this attack seemingly near-fainted the Weedle. This was a weak one. "Sillia, finish it with the second kick!" announced Jack. Sillia launched the second kick and defeated Weedle.
Later, the two advanced into the woods. It was starting to get shadey and scary in here because of the trees blocking off the sun. Jack wasn't that scared, but eventual close-sounding hoots would make him jump. Sillia, however, was not scared an inch. She never even looked at the bug-and-flying types such as Noctowl and Ledian passing by. Her eyes were focused on the road. Sphinx tried to keep his head up too, but the strange noises proved to much for him as he cowered behind Sillia. "Haha, don't worry little guys. I don't think a Noctowl's gonna come swooping down." said Jack, comfortingly. Finally, he thought they could see the exit.

I'll leave the rest to you, Arcaray.

Upon discovering that the lake was through a dense forest, Callie, Jack and their respective Pokemon set off, fully rested and rearing to go. The woods were dark, the canopy of leaves blocking all external sunlight. Their footsteps were muffled by the bed of leaves, and so the only noises were those of wild Pokemon.
Kratos made a small whimpering noise from behind Callie's legs. She bent down and patted his head reassuringly.
"Shhhh. It's only darkness, nothing to be scared of." She smiled at all four Pokemon, who seemed uneasy. Perhaps it was due to the promise of Delta Pokemon on the other side.

Eventually, the six of them saw a beam of light penetrating the black forest. The stumbled through the branches to find themselves on the bank of an idyllic lake, sparkling with the reflections of the midday sun. Callie and Jack were instantly relaxed by the calmness of the clearing, but their Pokemon seemed on edge. Achilles squawked softly and scratched at the floor, while Kratos still hid behind Callie's legs. There must be something wrong here that only Pokemon can sense, Callie thought as she scanned the area.
After a few minutes, Callie spotted something on the far side of the lake. She pointed at it, and the two ran around the waters until they reached a fishing rod, stuck into the bank and dangling into the waters. Nothing seemed to be biting.
"But... where's Lyall?" Callie asked, turning wildly. Suddenly, Achilles let out a loud squawk, and Kratos growled at the waters. Bubbles had appeared on the surface.

"Okay guys, get ready to attack that thing!" Callie's eyes were fixed on the lake, almost certain as to what was forming the bubbles.
Moments later, the water erupted as something leapt into the air. A Remoraid twisted in the air above them, its scales glistening in the bright sun. Before Callie could command her Pokemon, a powerful jet of water shot from the Pokemon, knocking both Callie and Jack off their feet. They collided heavily with the trees behind them, slightly dazed.
The two tried to scramble to their feet, but as they did so a voice was heard behind them.
"Remoraid, wait right there! Pikachu, go!"

Jack thought he could see sparks flying through the air. But he was just dizzy...wait, no. It was a Pikachu...
"Remoraid! Wait right there! Pikachu, go!" shouted a voice. The voice seemed to be getting closer as it ordered its Pikachu to use various moves. But despite the fact that it was an electric type, Pikachu was hit hard by the streams of jet that Remoraid released. Jack had seen this raw power before...Remoraid was a Delta Pokemon.
Finally, Pikachu finished Remoraid with Volt Tackle. The voice recalled Pikachu and shouted "Go! Pokeball!" immediatly a Great Ball flew at the Remoraid. It was snatched up and caught. The voice got closer and revealed itself to be Lyall!
"So, you got my note." he said, helping them both up. "Yeah, thanks." said Jack. "Anytime." said Lyall, with a much more stern voice than he usually had.

Later, Lyall, Jack and Callie sat down. Lyall commented on their new Pokemon. Then, he realesed Remoraid. It was faint, but it snarled in its unconciusness from time to time. "Hmmm, a fairly powerfull specimen. I'd wager around Level 6 or so, maybe 7." said Lyall, inspecting the uncouncious fish. "We should be carefull not to wake it up, that thing sent us flying." said Jack. "Don't worry, I'll take it back to the lab and lock it up later." said Lyall, returning the fish to its Pokeball. "Why'd you use a Great Ball on a Level 6 Remoraid?" asked Jack. "Infected Pokemon are hard to catch, i don't know why. It's a miracle this Great Ball did the trick." replied Lyall. "But during my way here, i read about an old legend." said Lyall. "Apparently, there is Darkrai, whom i know exists and another being. Its opposite, so to speak. Its name is Cresselia. The legend says that when the world was flooded with nightmare by Darkrai, Cresselia came and destroyed what Darkrai had created." he finished. "So, i have no idea wether Cresselia is real or not, but there might be an opposite to Dark Aura. Wich we can use as a remedy for the infection." Lyall added.

Wow. Callie's first encounter with a Delta Pokemon had literally knocked her off her feet. If a measly level 6 could do that, then she shuddered to think about the power of the greater levels.

"Cresselia, huh?" The name rang a bell to Callie, but it was hazy. She could barely remember whether it was from television, or perhaps a name she'd come across during her late night researching sessions.
"We know the Darkrai legend is true, so it only makes sense its counterpart is. I mean, there's no Devil without a God, if you believe in that sorta thing."

There's no evil without good, no dark without light, no poverty without wealth, Callie thought to herself. This Cresselia was almost certainly real, in her eyes.

"Right, Lyall. So, where do we go? Legends don't tend to make a habit of popping down to the Pokecentre for a quick bite to eat, I can't imagine Cresselia would be any easier to find than Darkrai itself."
Callie paused. She trusted the stranger.

    "They took our families, Lyall."

Lyall's eyes widened at the last thing Callie said. "Oh no. Oh no, this is all my fault." he muttered. "It's true Lyall, what are we gonna do?" said Jack.
"Well, first things first. Your families are more important. I might remember the way to the nearest Rocket hideout. Because i was taken there once, but it was over a year ago." he added. Everyone had worried expressions on their faces. They all sat there for about fifteen minutes, Lyall was doing his best to come up with a plan. He muttered, he groaned, he shook his head. It was clear that the Pikachu-owning boy had no idea what to do. "Ok, well...err...." he muttered. "What?" asked Jack. "We have to worry about the infection later. We have to get your families and leave them with the police. If i can tame this Delta Pokemon, it could be a good ally against Team Rocket. I say we should also get help from the authorities. We can't do this on our own and there's no time to train our own Pokemon." he hastily said. "Alright." said Jack as the trio stood up. "I say we should split up. one of us will tell the authorities while the others scout ahead. Maybe train up too. I know the way so I'll lead the police to the hideout. Meanwhile you two should train." said Lyall. "Are you sure they'll believe you?" said Jack. "They have to. It's not the first time I've led them to stop team Rocket, and they know for a fact i haven't lied to them once." he said.

A while later, Lyall slipped from veiw. And the twosome walked on into the grassy field. "Oh, boy. I think we better take the trainer path, it'll be crawling with Pokemon here." Jack said.

Seeing Lyall unsure of what to do was the scariest thing Callie had seen since she'd moved to Shussei. He was supposed to have all the answers!
Ten minutes of silent thought had passed before Callie spoke. "Look, my dad needs me now, and this Cresselia can wait a lot longer than him. I'm sure Jack would agree."

Eventually it was agreed that Callie and Jack would train while Lyall summoned the police. They parted ways, knowing that things were much more serious for them than it had been for the famous Red and other casual trainers.

The grassy field they walked into rustled with promises of Pokemon. Callie made a mental note to capture a few once this was all over with. If it ever was all over with. For now, Jack's suggestion to take the path was precisely what they needed. Trainers made for better battles than wild pokemon, and they needed the experience. The two set off, looking for someone to battle.

They had been walking for nearly twenty minutes before any other humans were sighted. On the path in front of them stood two trainers, both male. They seemed a little older than Jack and Callie, but not necessarily more experienced.
"Hey! You two!" The nearest shouted. "Battle, now! We'll pummel you!"

Callie detached a Pokeball from her belt, and exchanged a smirk with Jack. The boneheads had no idea what they had signed up for.

"Hehe, think again!" said Jack, as he heard the shout from the to boys. "Finally someone to battle, I'm exhausted from all that walking!" Jack thought. "Alright, Sillia, you know what to do." said Jack. Sillia crept from behind Jack's feet to the battlefield. The duos of trainers walked a decent way away from each other to give their Pokemon time to battle. "Go, Geodude!" exclaimed the first boy, who released a Geodude. "Go, Starly!" exclaimed the second boy, who realeased a Starly. "Go, Achilles!" exclaimed Callie (sorry for that bit of bunnying there) who realesed her Archen. "Let's get this battle underway!" shouted the first boy. "Geodude, use Rock Smash on Cubone!" he exclaimed. "Wait for him to get close, Sillia." said Jack. Sillia looked a little worried about waiting. "Trust me...." he said. "NOW USE DOUBLE KICK!" Exclaimed Jack, Sillia used the said move without hesitation, hitting the Geodude right in the face. One of them looked like a critical hit. "Argh!" said the boy. "Now, use it again." he shouted, this boy was obviously a newbie. Jack waited once more and then said "Use Double Kick!" but at the same time, the boy shouted "Dodge it!" wich the Geodude did. Then Geodude came up behind Sillia and hit her with a Rock Smash. "Dammit!" muttered Jack. Sillia seemed alright enough. "Sillia, use Growl." said Jack, Sillia did so, intimidating the foe. But the boy said "Ha! Useless!" "Oh, yeah? I'll show you useless." replied Jack. "Double Kick." exclaimed Jack. Sillia did so, only hitting with one of the kicks. "Now, Geodude! Rock Smash!" shouted the boy. Geodude did so. "Only using offensive moves, bad idea." thought Jack. "Double Kick, in the air!" commanded Jack. The Cubone dodged the incoming attack and started to climb a tree, Geodude crashed on the floor. Sillia jumped down and used Double Kick, it hit the Geodude hard. "I...think he's unable to battle." said Jack, sarcastically. Sillia withdrew and revealed it to be true. "Geodude, return." said the boy. "Here's some advice, don't only use Rock Smash, use defensive moves too. I heard Geodude can learn Rock Polish, that's a great move to have. You should use it once you get it." said Jack. As he got ready to help Callie. "Go, Sphinx!" said Jack, as Sphinx came out of its Pokeball and got ready to fight.

The boy's Starly erupted from its Pokeball, wings flapping wildly. Callie smirked, throwing her own ball.
"I know just how to deal with you! Go, Achilles!" She yelled.
Starly flew above Callie's own flightless bird, who hooted indignantly. The boy's eyes narrowed, pointing at Achilles.
"Starly, use tackle!" The boy shouted, and the bird darted at Achilles. Achilles dodged it easily, his speed more than a match for Starly's.
"Keep up the speed, Achilles!" Callie yelled. "Now, Quick Attack!"
Achilles shot at Starly with immense speed, hitting Starly with incredible accuracy. The bird staggered in the sky, but flew higher, way out of Achilles' reach.
    "Don't worry, Achilles! Use Leer!"
Achilles glared at Starly, who squawked with fear. "That's the way, Achilles! Now, climb the tree, go!"
Achilles jumped onto the tree, jumping nimbly from branch to branch. Without command, Achilles jumped, wings outstretched. Its powerful Wing Attack hit Starly in the air before the Archen landed on the floor, unscathed.
"Gargh! Starly, quick attack! If you miss, keep going!" The boy yelled, and Starly obeyed. Achilles dodged the first without much trouble, but the second collided with him squarely. Achilles' rock type made it barely effective, and he stood strong.
"It's alright, Achilles! It's defense is lowered, a few more attacks should finish it!"
Achilles nodded, waiting for Starly to come near. The Starly charged, but Achilles was ready. "You know what to do!" Callie shouted and sure enough, Achilles' wings were already outstretched for a Wing Attack. The Starly was moving too fast to retreat, and Achilles hit him, hard.

Jack had finished his battle, and had brought out his Shinx in readiness to assist Callie. "Don't worry about it, Jack, I got this!" She grinned at her ally, before returning to the battle.
    "Quick Attack, Achilles! Finish it!"

Achilles moved with great speed, knocking the Starly out of the air. The boy withdrew his KO'd Pokemon, cursing under his breath.
"Good, ah, pummelling, guys." Callie said, with mock sincerity. "We certainly learnt our lesson."

Jack laughed at Callie's gesture. "Well, that worked out great. I think our Pokemon even leveled up." said Jack. He had won a battle for the first time, and with style. The same could be said for Callie. Jack was happy with his Pokemon and with his new companion. He'd only ever dreamt of going on a Pokemon Journey. He was really planning on doing it solo, but being in a group was better than he'd thought. Suddenly, a bright light could be seen, it was Azure City. "Wow, this place is lit with lights all over!" said Jack, momentarily blinded by the outburst of light. This place was bigger and brighter than Clover City, it had tall skyscrapers and little houses alike. But it was not so bustling as Clover. In fact, the city looked like it could house the whole population of Clover and more. On the other hand, the place was busy enough. The ground was covered with black, yes, black. Most of the people on the sidewalks were wearing black business suits, and you hardly saw anybody with different clothing than that. "Heh, no wonder you need all these lights. The place is as dark as ever." Jack chuckled. The comment was merely for fun, but it was almost true. You couldn't see anyone with a smiling face within a 10 mile radius. Sillia seemed alright, but Sphinx didn't seem to like this place. "Ah, man. This place is to crowded for you, isn't it?" he told the little Shinx, crouching down to stroke its head. "We should find the Pokemon Center." said Jack.
