Alright, I've got a small patch, but haven't had the time to thoroughly test it. I... might need Beta testers. I've been trying to avoid it, but honestly the game has just gotten too big at this point for me to effectively (or even passably) test everything on my own.
So, let me know, through PM, or just here, if you'd like to do some beta testing.
This patch should have a way to fix the Hover Alert glitch. Talk to the glitch board on the 1st level of the Rocket Base, and choose the last option, and it should turn off the switch that is linked to that particular script. It shouldn't otherwise affect your game.
There are a few other new things, like a semi-recruitable on Route 12 who doesn't have artwork yet, a new sidequest in Vermilion where you can get an item that increases max MP, and many, many new Trainers to battle and steal from, and the ability to get a new Pokemon from the Casino but I haven't had the time to test any of it, so it may or may not work.
It's exam week, so, sorry for the rush job. :(
I am so stoked for this! Cheers for utilising an interesting premise; refreshing user interface - or should I say the traditional rpgmaker format; introducing a plethora of battle mechanics; and the smaller things like character portraits and an achievement system.
On that note, do your actions have any repercussion on the ending? Or is it the same across all playthroughs? I'm fine with either outcome, am fairly curious.
And apropos the "So you want to help with Rocket Rising?", here're a few ideas in no particular order:
- You could have a pokemon daycare questline which ends with the player and the npcs reaching an accord and smuggling surplus pokemon eggs to the former occasionally. Nothing wrong with a bit of victimless crime, right? :p
- Game corner prizes could include halloween costumes or, realistically, player disguises. This would be a really neat gameplay or quest-mechanic whilst being fully consistent with the game's canon i.e. the player's association with team rocket. That, or you could go with innocuous quest items, certain desirable pokemon, held battle items like king's claw, etc.
- As for a Mutagen Class name, you could go with Poke-Variant/Meta-Pokemon for something short and sweet. Or whatever - I'm terrible with names haha
Ah, I'm glad you've noticed and enjoyed those things!
For the ending, I'd like to have some variability depending on Player actions, but haven't yet decided what that'll look like.
I like the Pokemon daycare questline! I think I have a way to make the daycare work as it should, so I just need to add in a quest beforehand and that would work well!
- Huh, I'll think about those game corner prizes. Thanks for the ideas!
- Variant Pikachu? Meta Ghastly? I kinda like the sound of the "Variant" name...
