I'm literally both excited and scared for this, since Monty isn't a part of it anymore. :( (Rip, Monty). It's coming out tomorrow, I think, and I can't wait to see my favorites return! <3 I'm wondering what this season has in store for us, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Also, seeing anime voice actors makes this a lot more fun than I could ever hope for. Anyway, go team RWBY! Outlive Monty's brilliance!

Monty wasn't the only director/writer behind the series though; Kerry and Miles had a hand in the story writing as well, so I'm not worried about plot.

However Monty did animate most of the action scenes, but from the looks of the preview, RT got themselves some decent mo-cap artists to fill in for his permanent absence. Time will tell whether the animation will remain as it has been or if it will be improved.

I'm pretty sure Monty also left behind his own notes/ideas so I believe they had sufficient material to progress from the first two seasons – the plot has been pretty foreshadowed anyways (i.e. White Fang + Cinder Fall, involvement of Qrow, Yang's mother, etc). Judging by the trailer's animation quality, it doesn't seem too bad. :]

I can't wait! Seeing not only Team RWBY return, but possibly their older generation counterpart like Qrow and Winter Schnee(?).

Okay, so according to Kerry and Miles, this is how Faunus genetics works:

And given that I'm a biology major who's taken multiple classes that have touched upon genetics, evolution, natural selection, descent with modification and the like, this was literally my reaction upon seeing the last one:



Because Kerry and Miles have left out important details such as: dominance vs recessiveness of traits, similarities between human and faunus genes, whether or not inheritance mechanics of faunus work the same as humans, etc.

Like for example, when I tried to make a Punnet square of Blake x Sun, so many details were left unsaid that made it hard. Are the traits for determining Blake's status as a Cat faunus dominant or recessive? What were the traits of her parents? Is Blake heterozygous or homozygous? Same with Sun.

Given that two different Faunus gives rise to a random Faunus, I can only assume that there are multiple genes involved that bring about many (or maybe infinite o_O) allele combinations. Indeed, their response was just too vague.

Also I have questions about the moon of Remnant; it must have some plot significance I should think.

Some of my thoughts:

#1:
The fights were amazing to watch; overall the animation was decent and I cannot find fault with it. Love the design of the hover board girl, really cool weapon. Nice insert of RubyxWeiss moment there too. Also Neo disguised as a Lolita? O: It looked like Team Cinder went up against Team CRDL? My pity to the boys whoever they were nonetheless. |D Also Weiss and her father... Seems like something Schnee this way comes. I'm not sure why Weiss didn't realize that her dad canceled her card... The fact that Nora and Ren had no parents – not sure if they intentionally glossed it over because that sounds like a major plot point, or at least begs the question of what happened?

#2:
First battle showcasing Jaune's not-so-great leadership. Love Nora's semblance although the exposition wasn't executed well; felt like an info dump plus nobody in the right mind is gonna stand there to wait for the announcer to explain an opponent's semblance in detail (it should be clear from Nora not being knocked out instantly...).

Second battle - the battle of the sexes, with Team Sun as in Hot Damn Eye Candy xD;; /nosebleeds (I like that detail of the fan sign picturing Sun's abs with a pink heart.)

Neptune's hydrophobia: what an irony lol. Coupled with the fact that his trident is electricity-based, his name totally doesn't match him at all. Except the hair. And his coolness (yes, pun intended). |D Glad we got to see the other two members of SSSN in combat. RIP Scarlet's nuts though lmao.

ALSO WINTER SCHNEE IS COMING TO TOWN!!!

Although, given the amount of puns in episode 2, I have a feeling they let Barbara write some of the script of that one. I mean, really? "Crow Bar?" The bar where Qrow is getting smashed at? That HAD to have been Barbara's doing.

Episode 3: It's Brawl in the Family!!

That Qrow and Winter duel oh my god. It gave me chills (no pun intended). The background music was equally epic – speaking of which I love the RWBY Volume 3 OST so far. Cannot wait to buy the album~ Weiss and Winter's relationship is you may call it cliche but it's still adoring nonetheless to see Weiss struggle with maintaining a composed demeanor versus Winter's strict posture. Plus Ruby trying to be less awkward during the mini-reunion made it more awkwardly comical xD Qrow for Best Uncle for sure. He's got to be my favourite character already.

Anyways looks like Cinder can manipulate the fight match ups. And we'll be seeing Team CFVY!!! (Caffeine plays in the background) They'll probaby get pwned though :/

As much as I knew how one-sided the fight between EM and CY was, I love the thinking invested into it. CY's strategy was punished very hard by EM and honestly, I think it's my favourite tournament fight so far where you can notice the attention to detail.

The paralleling family scenes were really great. 'Stories with Qrow' should definitely be a podcast too. xD

Also, loving Winter more and more as a character. I'm anticipating the moment when empowered Weiss summons the Knight from the White trailer.

Dear god, that new episode today....

everything is now completely different and things are heating up. My jaw dropped, my eyes are still wide open, and...

...I am very much worried for Yang.

No comedy, just straight-up thickening of the plot. SO. MUCH. THICKER. And I can now hear the sheer amount of new fan theories threatening to tear up the very fabric of the space-time continuum. This was first RWBY episode where after watching it, my mind was blown and my soul was shattered.

It's the very definition of Wham Episode.

We can guess Cinder's the attacker of the Fall maiden if names have some purpose. Ember -> Cinder + Cinder Fall.

The whole Yang vs Mercury post-match was definitely Neo/Emerald in the works, pretty OP given that they have two illusionists/perception manipulators.

I wonder how Yang's gonna survive this. Her team will definitely stand on her side but nobody has any idea to disbelieve Mercury.

The credits music was especially muted and somber. Speaking of soundtrack, Volume 3 has been on top of its game so far.

I have to admit this new plot point of

the Maidens and their "magic" power

came completely out of nowhere with no setup whatsoever, but at the same time, it completely put into perspective a lot of things regarding the series and paints somewhat of a clearer picture of what Cinder is up to and although we can't know for certain what her endgame is, we are now aware of her short-term goal for why she's even doing these things in Vale.

Also, we don't need to guess that Cinder was behind Autumn's condition....we KNOW Cinder was behind her condition. I mean, really.
