Erm...interesting question. I suppose it could depend on what it is. A Milotic or Gyrados could glide in the air, Magikarp, of course, flops around no matter what, but since yours is a Carvhana, I suppose it could be your choice whether you only release it in water or have it glide behind you or something *shrugs*.

Hey, while we're not doing anything IC, what pokemon does everyone traditionally choose for a particular generation? I find that for each game I've played, I always have a favorite starter and at least one super-powered pokemon that I want at the end, if not a whole team.

R/B/Y/FR/LG - Charmander - and I always want a Dragonite and supe'd up Charizard by the end.

G/S/C - Cyndaquil - my goal is always to get a Tyranitar and destroy Red with it, though I generally end up with a Dragonite and a Machamp as well.

R/S/E - Treecko - I'm a bit more generalized with Hoenn, and I'm more likely to care about my whole team, though I'll prioritize my starter. I'm oft to get a Flygon.

I don't have any games beyond those generations. :/

I chose Oshawott! :D And yeah, i have two Victini's. One from the recent Event (the new mystery gift) and one from the Liberty pass!

I used to play Yellow in the Kanto versions, so I always got Pikachu ;P and I always had both Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur on my team in the end. I loved the balance of it all~

In the Johto games (Crystal mainly) I always chose Cyndaquil because it was the easiest. And in Hoenn, I never choose Treecko, but Mudkip or Torchic rather equally every other time I play through it. Hoenn is probably the region I know best. Remakes... please make them~!

And I haven't finished a game in 4th or 5th gen, but I started playing Platinum recently. For some reason, I grew bored though, and started playing White instead. It's awesome, actually. Both the region and the pokémon and the story, mostly because they involve all the gym leaders in the story and I happen to love gym leaders~ :3


Let's not get too offtopic though. I'll wait for ZeganZoma then, if you feel it's important to have everybody here at the start.

I've been playing through Soul Silver (I chose Cyndaquil, it's so cute!), and right now I'm currently working on the third gym. Freaking strong Miltank with Rollout >_< Doesn't help four Pokemon on my team are weak to Rock D:

For FireRed and LeafGreen, I chose Charmander. I just love Charizard ^^

For Ruby and Sapphire, I chose Torchic at first, but I'm thinking of restarting and using Mudkip.

For Diamond, I alternate between Chimchar and Piplup.

For Black, I chose Snivy, and it has officially become my favorite Pokemon.

In battle, however, he is a genius, and a strong believer in all of his Pokemon.

History: Somari was raised by a spoiling kind of family. They gave him all the toys he wanted, all the food he wanted... everything!

Interestingly enough, however, this did not corrupt him; quite the opposite, in fact! From his family's overcare towards him, h's grown overcaring himself, which has led to gaining respect only from adults.

His nature has gotten him dubbed many things, including "nerd" "dork" "geek" "four-eyes"... everything! Because of this, Pokemon are his top priority.

His dream is to become a Pokemon Lawyer someday, and as such, geyting into arguments is a piece of cake for him. Due to a lack of anybody ever bossing him around, he makes an excellent leader when he needs to be.

He's been insulted his entire life, so trying to make him feel ashamed of himself would be pointless.

It seemed like nothing too good has actually happened in his life... until he got that letter...

EDIT: Well...I've decided that we can go ahead and start. The final three characters will be much farther down the beach and will be discovered/discover us once they join. If no one takes the final spot by noon tomorrow by my time, I may decide to let someone have two characters or I may take it. I don't want to have to get the final character much farther into the roleplay.

First Name:Sidney Garder
Age:16
Gender:Male
Region:Hoenn
Appearance:
Sidney is overall very lanky in terms of build, almost sickley, in fact. This isn't helped by his skin that is unusually pale for one of the Hoenn region. It is by no means pure white, but Sidney does stand out quite a bit from the usual toned and athletic boys of Hoenn. He hardly even fits into the "skinny, yet tall" category. While not short by any means, in fact slightly above average height for boys his age, but at 5'11", he could hardly be considered tall. Yet perhaps his most unusual feature is his hair, which is a very light blonde. So blonde that it is practically white. Sidney tries to keep it long, but his parents always made him keep it out of his dull green eyes. Other than that, he does very little with his hair.

Sidney, despite living in one of the warmest regions around- Hoenn, he always seems to be cold. Perhaps this is somehow related to his very unsubstantial build and maybe even his pale skin, but most people just assume he doesn't get out much. Because he always seems cold, he typically wears hooded jackets over his clothes, which are usually plain tee-shirts. When he boarded the ship, Sidney was wearing a dark grey hoodie over a white tee-shirt. For pants, he was wearing plain blue jeans with a brown belt to keep them from falling down. Partially covered up by his pant legs, Sidney was wearing black sneakers.
Personality:
Sidney always walks about as if he has something to proove. He values individual strength above most other things, and is determined to show that, despite his weak appearance, he can still be independent. This often leaves him to pushing himself far beyond his limits and attempting things that he plainly can't do. As a Pokemon Trainer, his one goal is to become more powerful. No matter what the situation, he always gives his all, sometimes more, and always plays to win. He hates losing, as well as any other kind of failure. Although he usually places the blame on himself unless anyone "interfered." But, more so than failure, Sidney absolutely despises when people try to "help" him. No matter what, he is determined to do everything alone. It's not so much that he is shy, in fact he can keep up a conversation when he absolutely has to, he just doesn't like people, nor does he trust them. He sees those who try ever so persistantly to help him along the way as condensending and that they take pity on him for his weaknesses, especially if these people are better looking or in better shape than him.

In terms of interaction with others, Sidney is usually pretty mean-spirited. Unless it would make him look cowardly or otherwise weak, Sidney usually ignores people. (Although being stranded on an island with a select group of people that he will no doubt have to work with at some point may change that tendency.) When in conversation, he says no more than what has to be said. He never advances the converstation to anything personal, or change the subject in general. Nor does he typically ask questions, he just answers them. (Unless if the question is an order or something of the like, as Sidney also tends to be quite rebellious.) While most of the time he keeps his opinions of others to himself, Sidney has no problem with putting a little poison into his words when he is angry, being very hostile if someone has gotten on his nerves. Sidney is not quick to be trusting and less quick at making friends, most of the time he considers people that seem overly friendly or outgoing as desparate for attention, or just unable to operate on their own, therefore not being worth his time.
History:
Sidney hasn't greatly changed over the corse of his life. Ever since he was a young boy, he was always scrawny and pale, though his lack of outdoor activities prior to becoming a Trainer has done nothing to help his pigmentation. While he was never particulary picked on for his appearance, he was always singled out becase of it. Throughot it all, Sidney hated it. Always being reffered to as "that skinny kid" or "that one really pale boy" or whatever title people could give him as they observed from a distance, as it didn't take Sidney long to develop his distrust, and in some cases, outword dislike for most people.

Yet that wasn't the worst of it, in Sidney's mind. It wasn't enough that the other kids, even adults (one especially strong memory from Sidney's childhood is the strange look he would get from one kid's parent everytime the two were within close proximity, then always shying away once he was sure Sidney was looking at him.) singled him out all the time, yet they didn't even hace the decency to leave him alone to be "the pale kid" or "the weird-looking kid". Always, when he seemed to have even the slightest trouble, everyone would be rushing to him, constantly jabbering with offers of help when Sidney knew he could do it himself. All of these well-toned, some even muscular people always trying to do things for him, to make up where he fell short. They pitied him, Sidney thought. They felt so sorry for the poor little kid who had dropped his books or whatever the problem may be. They made Sidney sick. Had he been anyone else, anyone in the world, nobody would give him a glance if he dropped a book. But no, because he was "the pale, skinny boy" everyone mobbed him becase he was apparantly so weak and helpless. Sidney knew he couldn't just let them do this, or he would always be weak and have to depend on these people who so gladly gave him titles he considered degrading for his whole life. So Sidney started to become the bitter teenager he is today. When someone asked to help him, he shot them an angry glance or gave them a definitive, yet still poisonous, "no."

His parents grew concerned for him. They thought it was simply terrible that their boy was the friendless and mean kid they saw. Sidney didn't believe they knew the half of it. They thought somebody had perhaps been mean to him, and that made him hate the rest of the world. They thought they could make him "normal" with outdoor activities, organized and team-based ones, that they forced him to do. These only strengthened Sidney's resolve in his position. He was terrible at all of the sports anyways, and players often blamed him for losses. Now some people, few because the sports weren't school-sponsored or in any other way very important to anyone but the players, were beginning to actually be mean to him. In school, people only titled him behind his back, and feared him too much to try and talk to him. But now, because of his parents, people he had to see every week (untill he quit playing sports) were now openly mocking him. This is when Sidney lost trust in all people, parents included. He began a rebellious streak, outright refusing most orders his parents gave him. He quit playing sports on his own initiative, and even when the coach told him that only his parents could officially take him off the team, Sidney simply stopped showing up. Sidney's parents tried every possible punishment, but none seemed to work.

Finally, when it was time for Sidney to become a Pokemon Trainer, it was the only thing that had ever really interested him in a long time. It gave him power! It allowed him to crush the friends that his enemies loved so much, allowed him to put further distance between him and these people. For one of the first times in his life, Sidney felt like he could do stuff. He felt like he had all of the power of his Pokemon. This is not to say that Sidney is entirely ruthless and cares nothing for his Pokemon. He does like them as a whole, maily because they are not judgemental, remain friendly to him despite most things, and only help him because he asks them to. And, more than he may like to admit, Sidney does have some pocket of compassion for his Pokemon somewhere in his heart. He may not say it, even try to pass it off as if he didn't, but Sidney really can't help having a bond with his Pokemon, and his Pokemon know this , even when he ties to push them past their limits for the sake of winning or becoming stronger. Sidney's parents, more through just knowing him as opposed to it being obvious, saw that he did consider his Pokemon as some sort of odd friend-like thing. At that point, they had nearly given up on trying to make Sidney a normal boy, so they allowed him to become a Trainer simply because it seemed to make him happy. This was good news to the boy, for he took this as permission to take off and leave, even though he probably would've without permission anyways.

Once word had come that Sidney had won the sweepstakes and was to board the boat, he was only moderately excited. Modtly, he liked the idea of being able to go somewhere exclusive, where hopefully there were some strong Pokemon to find and fight. Yet, since the place seemed so exculsice, Sidney was a tad concerned there wouldn't be many Trainers to fight. Still, the excusive region meant that there would be fewer people, Trainer or not, meaing that at least there would be less non-Trainers to get on his nerves, hopefully.

Feelings about the mystery and Lin:
Once Sidney had discovered the boat had been an illusion, and sweepstakes a lie, Sidney was incredibly angry. If it wasn't a dream, he probably would've broken everything in sight. Then he is told that he has to now help this Lin character save her homeland that Sidney has never heard about and honestly doesn't care about, without choice, it got him even more angry. Overall, he hates the island he is on, hates the mystery he has to solve, and if he ever finds Lin, he's going to... well, Sidney hasn't decided a proper punishment yet, but it will be darastic no doubt. Yet, since it seems as if there is no other way to get out of it, Sidney will grit his teeth and go along with the little game, for now. If anything positive comes out of it, he'll get stronger. He looks at the mystery as a training exercise in order to prevent him from being constantly enraged. But Sidney is determined to solve this thing as quickly as possible and then leave, even if it means missing out on some training opprotunities.

Flaws:
As can be told from his personality, Sidney has a strange sense of self pride, and a strong need to be independent and strong in all situations. He never accepts help from others and is often mean to others even if he hardly knows them, along with being very untrusting (and not seeming very trustworthy himself) His quest for power will either make him and his Pokemon the strongest things in existence, or completely destroy them. It is also worth mentioning that, due to his physique, he is not strong and can't do very much strenuous labor well, coupled with him being very prone to sickness, which is made worse by his not-so-great immune system. In addition, becase he manages to be cold even in very warm weather, he is mostly crippled by cold weahter unless wrapped in absolute warmth.

Main Ability:
Sidney is very determined. And, in his constant questing for power, he has become stronger. Even though he may not look like much, he can usually complete a task if he is absolutely dedicated to it. On rare occasions, and only when he needs to, Sidney came summon a strange (though not supernatural) strength that can allow to get through some pretty sticky situations. (It's not like he has super strength, though. It's just that he is good at digging into his resolve and standing his ground when he needs to.)

RP Sample: (Just some fairly-recent post from Percy Jackson: War of the Gods. I'll admit, this isn't exactly a "normal" kind of post from me, as at this point my usually cheery character is getting into a sort-of depressed state. Though not an absolutely terrible post, in my opinion. The basic setup for the situation is that my character (Jayson) along with the rest of the camp for the children of normale people and the Greek gods, have been fighting hellhounds (dog-like creatures from, where else, hell [Underworld]) This is near the end of the fighting, after my character has rounded up a group of fellow demi-gods to help fight off the onslaught, leaving an injured boy from one of the previous skirmishes lying against a tree before he left for the clearing he is currently in.)

Spoiler:

Jayson fired arrows for gods know how long. Nothing mattered anymore, nothing made sense besides the heat of the fight, which was sometimes quite literal. The monotony of firing an arrow, pulling the next from the quiver, and repeating the process, the aiming that had to be done with the utmost precision, for the slightest error would spell death, the sweat and blood mingling together as they flowed over his body like a waterfall, the sounds of bronze blades sinking into flesh, the horrible shrieks of pain and deat, both beastly and human, which became all too common to the point where Jayson had become desensitized to it. Such confusion yet such clarity. Doubt was a constant presence, yet the objective was always within sight. The time an arrow took to reach its mark seemed an eternity, yet the flurry of movement seemed to was lightning. How where there so many hellhounds? Where do they come from? Why are there so many? These questions no longer mattered to Jayson as he felled yet another hound with a twinge of bowstring and the sinking of arrow into flesh. All that existed was Jayson and the hellhounds, and only one could survive. There was no question of motive, there was only purpose: Kill the hellhounds, drive them back, don't die.

Yet despite his determined mind, despite the strange clarity of battle, Jayson's own body betrayed him. His arms trembled with each shot of the bow, he could feel himself slowing until he was rooted in position, barely able to grasp the arrows from his quiver. His legs would not hold either, They shook under the weight of his own body, and threatened to give in. Jayson could feel himself sinking to a kneel, yet he could not do anything about it. His body no longer was in his control. His mind was so focused on archery that Jayson didn't even notice himself loading and unloading his bow. Now his was stuck, a moving statue, almost a machine. He knelt and shot still as people around him were being massacred. Jayson wanted to move, wanted to do something, but couldn't bring himself to. Soon, even the actions not in his control became too much for his body. Jayson loaded no arrows, not even raising his bow. It fell from his hand to the ground without a sound, Jayson made no effort to retrieve it. He was deaf to the world now, could hear nothing but the sound of his heartbeat and heavy breathing, which inexplicably became increasingly more difficult by the second. He now was no both knees and had his hands on the ground. Jayson no longer thought, he only breathed, as if he were waiting, anticipating.

And then nothing. Jayson could hear no sound, could see no light, could not feel the earth beneath his palms, could not feel the warmth of light, the cold of darkness.

Jayson was sure he was dead now. Stroke from behind by some hellhound, no doubt. Perhaps accidentally shot with an arrow, even. Yet, even in this state of death, life, unconsciousness, or whatever it was, Jayson felt nothing. As he felt the sensation sink in, he felt not frigid death, nor life's warmth. All the boy could feel was a nothingness enveloping him, consuming him until he too was nothing. Until his very soul was a void.

Then there was... something. It was intangible, yet its presence was easily known. It did not project itself through thought or feeling either, it was simply there. It was a beam, at least it seemed as if it were a beam. Yes! It must be a beam. A beam of, something. It was a warmth, almost. A warmth without a temperature. It warmed, but Jayson felt no hotter. The warmth grew, but Jayson's body temperature did not. It warmed and warmed until Jayson could see nothing more than a brilliant and blinding white light that slowly faded into splashes of all different colors: blue, brown, and green mainly.

Jayson was in the forest, a clearing from the looks of it. He saw legs, many, may legs standing upright. As it turned out, these were connected to bodies. These bodies were moving, especially their arms and mouths. Slowly, their sounds faded in. It was a loud sound, a collective cheer made up of several individual cries of joy. Jayson remembered where he was and what he was doing. He jumped to his feet , snatched his bow from the ground, somehow he knew exactly where it was, and without thinking loaded an arrow and scanned the environment, looking for his next target. But the clearing was empty. There were no hellhounds to be spotted. It was quiet, and still. Was the battle over? Had they won? It was only then that Jayson realized the pain in his body was mostly gone, even though Jayson couldn't have been out that long. Could he? His body was still covered in a fine layer of sweat, blood, and now dirt, and it seemed about the same time. What had happened?

Jayson, his group in tow, soon found himself walking about the woods. He had previously told everyone that they needed to find survivors and get medical attention to their wounded, and there were many. At least, that's what Jayson had been told the last time he asked. His mind was racing, yet he wasn't remembering anything he had just thought. It wasn't long before he was mumbling to himself, hoping in vain that saying the words aloud would help him remember.

Then by some miracle, the group came across a tightly packed group of trees, difficult for the group to navigate with any coordination, or even individual grace. Leaned up against one of the tress was a boy. His skin was pale, his quiver was empty, a bow lay sprawled across the corpse. Jayson, wordlessly and mouth ajar, knelt by this boy for several minutes. He didn't weep, he didn't say anything. He merely keeled, when he had the strength looking in the boy's face before quickly averting his eyes. None dared to approach him.

"How?" Jayson silently mouthed to himself. In his carelessness, in his weakness, his stupidity, he had let this boy, fellow Apollo, fellow demigod, fellow human being, die. It was within Jayson's power to save him when he could, but he didn't. Jayson could have called for help, but he didn't. He simply took his arrows and left hid to die. He placed his faith in unlikely chances and left without second thought. But now it was too late to do anything. He had already made his mistake, and it was far to terrible to take back. Wordlessly, except for some grunts, Jayson picked up the corpse and slung it over his shoulder. He continued walking, his group hesitantly, and from a distance, followed.

"And yet I still live..." Jayson murmured.
