  • "If there was violence... could there be peace?"

That was probably the dumbest thing said... Of course without violence there would be peace.

You also said that all of these bad things happen for a reason, Black_Wolf, but you then told him to stop complaining. You basically said everything is natural, but then said to not complain, which is also natural. You contradicted yourself and make no sense.

  • Well i think the point he was trying to make was, without violence, could we appreciate or understand peace? It's the same question as if there was no bad or evil in the world, would we know what good is? Without the negative could we know the positive?

I have hope for humanity, we have the ability to come together as one in the future... and each person could work towards that. But there will always be conflicts between people, because we are selfish, I just hope that we can get past that one day. If you think about it, we're still a lifeform in it's infancy, and we still have a long way to go.

Violence is not the same as evil, because the concept of evil varies with individual and society. Whereas violence can be accurately defined as an action.

Besides I think the world has grasped what being 'violent' is by now. >_>

Honestly, I think Yagami Light had the right idea...

I didn't intend to imply that violence was the same as evil. I was merely comparing one question to the other. Can we understand and appreciate the positive without comparing it to the negative?

But yes i agree with your statement and we don't live in a theoretical world in which we could test these hypothetical questions that i was pondering.

The world needs drastic change before it can unify as one.

Even if none of those things on your list were a problem, Akatsuki Champloo, I'm sure you'd find something else to complain about ? of course anyone would, but we just have to make do with what we've got while we have it.

well look at life in the point of view of Hobbs: Life is violence and society brings peace. But even so, there are different societies that exist that make violence upon one another.

In my opinion, as long as there is nothing to percive "violence" there can be peace

I have put in my opinions in the quote in bold.

Hey Black_Wolf, I head to Parris Island this summer. PM me any pointers you might have.

To the OP: I don't really understand why you don't like rich people? How old are you? This question is relevant because if you are still young it could explain why you don't like rich people, because you don't fully understand how the world works. In case you are curious:
We live in a (mostly) capitalist economic system with bit of socialism thrown in (e.g. welfare and social security). This system succeeds because it doesn't have restrictions on how much money a person can earn so they work hard in hopes that they will become rich. This system also stresses competition among companies to make goods cheaper for the consumers. We have socialist programs to make things easier for people that have problems in their lives. For example if someone loses their job they can get workman's compensation for a little while and survive while they are finding a new job (although this is abused in many cases...but that is for another thread).
Basically what I am trying to get at is that getting rich is part of the system in which we live. I'm not trying to insult you, just trying to inform you.

    very good.

also let me add that rich people aren't the only ones who can do bad things. Weather you're rich, poor, blue collar, white collar, or somewhere in between, you always have the potential to do bad or good. Singaling out a certain percentage of humanity just becuase of thier situation (money, race, religion, physical attributes) and claiming that they're bad becuase of it has no evidence that can prove that just by being that makes them bad.

"Whenever you point a finger at someone you have three pointing back at you"

OP, can you show me a rich person whom you think is bad and then tell me why you are morally better than him/her?
