THE CULT #5 – Hopeful hit.

"You wanna fight, blind boy?" Alexandrea hissed, obviously angry at the comment, but Sindri ignored the comment, and went on to battle against another trainer, although Matthias wasn't really paying attention. He was more focused on training Molotov.

Matthias patted the Makuhita on the head. "Ok kiddo, we're going to do some training." He exclaimed, before grinning. "You don't want to lose against that Lotad again do you?"

Molotov shook his head violently, before cracking his knuckles, ready for a fight. Matthias was happy with the Fighting-types attitude. Hopefully he wouldn't fall asleep mid fight this time. He had spent a few minutes searching for wild Pokémon, but the teams attempt at being 'stealthy' simply ended in them both chasing after the first creature they saw, which ultimately ended in them being caught off guard by a volley of Stringshot.

"Um, excuse me..." said the tiny voice of a young boy. Matthias turned to the sound, to see a kid about the age of ten or eleven, who nervously held a Pokéball in his right hand. Matthias nodded, with Molotov doing the same. "Do you want... um... to battle?"

A second nod from Matthias was enough of an answer, and seemed to inspire a little bit of confidence in the boy, at which point he threw the Pokéball forward. "Zigzagoon, go now!"
The Pokéball exploded in the typical red light, and a tiny brown and cream creature emerged. "Zagoo~n!" it yelled, as it glared Molotov, who was more than obliged to send back the look.

"Ok Molotov, let's do this." Matthias ordered, as his partner assumed its battle position. "Use-" he was cut short as he realised he only knew one of his Pokémon's moves. He pulled the Pokémon from his pocket and it made a light beep, as an image of a Makuhita appeared on the screen.

*Makuhita, level five. Current moves: Tackle, FocusEnergy.*

Matthias grinned at the second move, as it sounded interesting enough, but he was cut short as the tiny Zigzagoon slammed itself into Molotov, who was temporarily dazed, but was soon ready for combat once again.

"Hmm, barely a scratch." Muttered Matthias, before raising his voice to order. "Show 'em a real Tackle!"

The Guts-Pokémon darted towards the Normal-type, which gave Matthias a slight sense of déjà vu against Cass earlier. To anyone but Matthias, seeing a Makuhita waddle towards the foe would have been far too comical for most to bear, although he wasn't prepared to let a distraction make him lose this time. It slammed itself forward, landing on the ground. Molotov pushed himself back up, expecting the attack to be a perfect hit.

    "Zig?"

Molotov picked himself back onto two feet, to see the Zigzagoon to the side, having simply hopped to the side. "Zigzagoon, hit it again!" yelled the foe, as the TinyRacoon launched itself at Molotov for a second time. Molotov didn't see it coming, and was hit once more, although it looked less harmed by this strike than the previous.

"What's your name, kid?" asked Matthias, trying to make polite conversation. "Use Tackle again!"

The kid thrust his fist into the air. "Dodge it again!" Unfortunately for him, his Zigzagoon wasn't fast enough, as it was smashed at full force, causing it to be launched backwards a few feet, before re-gaining its balance. It shook itself to remove the mud from its short fall. "My name's Calvin, Pokémon extraordinaire!"

Matthias chuckled. "I'm Matthias- jump up Molotov!" The Fighting-type leapt up, preparing to slam itself back down to the target. "And no, you're not going to win this match. Tackle!"
The height of the jump was fairly small, but for a Pokémon like Molotov was rather impressive, but it was at least high enough for the Fighting-type to turn to the side, ready to slam the side of its right arm into the Zigzagoon. It landed with a crash, straight on top of the Zigzagoon.

"Goo~n!" it yelled it pain, as it tried to push itself back up from the weight of the Makuhita.
Pushing itself back up, Molotov hurried back to its trainer's side. He cheered to himself, flailing his arms in the air in joy. The match was actually going well for once. The Zigzagoon readied itself too, but was considerably more harmed than Molotov was. The Pokémon may have been fast, but that all goes down the drain if you don't have the defence to match. Matthias gave a quick high-five to Molotov, but then prepared to fight once more.

"Zigzagoon, use Growl to weaken it."

The Racoon-Pokémon, made a low grumbling sound, which was neither threatening, nor of any use. At least, that was what Matthias thought. "Tackle, quickly!" Matthias ordered, being followed by Molotov darting towards the foes Zigzagoon, who quickly side-stepped it.

    Calvin chuckled. "Keep dodging!"

Much to Matthias's discontent, that was exactly what happened. The Normal-type leapt from place to place, annoying the other side, and ultimately wearing them out. Molotov was starting to look out of breath; this could quite easily end the battle. "C'mon Molotov, actually hit it this time!"

The Fighting-type ran forward once more in the Zigzagoon's direction, trying once more to make contact. "Zigza-" muttered the Pokémon as it side-stepped the attack. Molotov, unable to stop, slammed into a tree, and fell backwards. This was starting to turn the tables, and even if an attack did land, it wouldn't nearly be as powerful due to the Growl move, even if Matthias didn't know it. And then an idea struck him. It was a long shot, but the move had to do something.

"Now, use FocusEnergy!" Molotov slammed his fist into the ground before leaping into an upright position, now engulfed in a red aura. He flailed his arms about violently, smashing part of the tree he fell into. "Cool..." Matthias muttered. "Now, use Tackle again!"

Molotov ran forward to attack once more, this time at a tremendous speed, probably gained from the FocusEnergy. The Zigzagoon prepared for the attack, simply spinning itself to the side, but the Guts-Pokémon had seen it coming, and had countered, by throwing himself to the side. "Makuhita!" He yelled, as he was slammed directly into the Tiny Racoon-Pokémon, launching it far into a tree. The red aura faded, as Molotov picked himself up, and dusted himself off. Calvin looked distraught.

"But I won all my other battles!" he exclaimed as the Zigzagoon was returned. "I have to go train!"

Matthias chuckled to himself. One win and one loss. Not too bad for a beginner.

    ---

It had been a few minutes of walking from there on out, when Matthias had begun to notice the slight change in temperature. Hoenn was one of the more tropical regions in this area, and it had begun to feel like Johto in the middle of winter, far too cold for even the northern parts of Hoenn. "Is it just me, or is it getting colder?" Matthias asked, although it was more stating his opinion than an actual question.

It was even more surprising, as the temperature continued to drop as they walked, and it was still the middle of the afternoon, nowhere near dusk yet. Matthias had started to shiver slightly, although his coat managed to ward off some of the invading cold.
As they moved closer, it seemed that some areas of the ground had been frozen, and partially wrecked. Matthias knew well enough that there was no natural reason for this kind of weather, even if that of Hoenn could be rather unpredictable. A Beautifly crumbled to the floor, half frozen and exhausted.

"Eaaaasssssyyyyyyy" giggled a small girl, who couldn't have been more than eight or nine. A Pokémon resided nearby, one which was as pale as ice and hovered just above the ground.
Matthias flipped out his Pokédex quickly.

*Froslass, the Snow Land Pokémon. Ice/Ghost type. It freezes prey with an icy breath nearly -60 degrees F. It is said to then secretly display its prey.*

Matthias stared a little blankly. "Doesn't sound like a very friendly Pokémon..." he muttered, although it seemed that Sindri didn't think so.

"Hello... sorry to be so forward." Said Sindri, with a remarkably cheerful tone, "but you have a very intriguing Pokémon there. Ghost types are one of my favourite and I must know where you got yours. Sorry if I'm being a bit blunt, I'm new to this whole trainer thing, and seeing such a spectacular Pokémon battle got me a little excited."

To Matthias, this just sounded ridiculous. "Eh..." he muttered, not thinking much of the Froslass's performance. "Ghost types aren't really my 'thing'."

While he did say that, he dare not try and prove that Molotov was tougher. He saw how that Froslass had beaten the Beautifly, and he was sure that the Guts Pokémon wouldn't fight it at all. It would have been a wasted and impossible fight anyway. He was pretty sure that Tackle wouldn't affect a Ghost type...

  • Arc 1: Beginning
Chapter 2: Getting to the real part of the adventure
Part 3: The ever spunky Hari-chan!

"Hi! How are you?" The girl smiled. She seemed spunky and overly happy. A person Alexandrea could come to like.

"Hello." Cass bowed politely, smiling at the girl. "Congratulations on your win, your Froslass is amazing!" Her sister complimented. Alexandrea smiled at her older sister. She noticed quickly afterward her sister began to pout as Sindri approached the young girl.

"Hello… Sorry to be so forward, but you have a very intriguing Pokémon there. Ghost types are one of my favorite and I must know where you got yours. Sorry If I'm being a bit blunt I'm just new to this whole trainer thing, and seeing such a spectacular Pokémon battle got me a little excided." His voice was cheerful and semi-excited. Alexandrea let out a loud (and intentional) ''pssh!'' sound. What a kiss up! Alexandrea stood there gritting her teeth.

"I swear..." Alexandrea's voice trailed off when she heard her sister whisper something to her.

"He loves ghost types, but hates bug types, how will Sindri react to a Shedinja I wonder? " She smirked to her sister, than quickly glanced to see if Sindri had heard her comment. She did seem scared of the young man. It was to be expected from her sister who didn't even know that their mother was dead but that was another story altogether and she had no intent of hurting her sister.

The small child just looked at Sindri, her pink eyes examining Sindri thoroughly and then she grinned, "I've had Frosslass since I was really small, she keeps me company, just like all my other pokemon! I'm Hari by the way!" The child grinned, "You should stay for dinner! It's not every day I meet a bunch of new friends!"

"That sounds awesome!" Alexandrea smiled, the sound of free food excited her. She hadn't noticed how hungry she'd gotten.

"Yay! New friends over for dinner! Yay, yay, yay~" The girl turned around and ran off with her Frosslass, leaving the group to follow.

    ----

The girl, despite her small size, ran extremely fast, almost at an inhuman speed by the time the group reached the house Alexandrea was out of breath. Which was quite a feat considering Alexandrea's endurance (even if she WAS carrying her sister because of her sister's weak health it wasn't too good for her to run at such a fast rate)

The house was fairly small. Like one of those tiny houses you imagine in a child's fairy tale, "This is my house! it isn't very big but it's big enough for me!" The girl smiled and escorted the group inside.

The house wasn't much bigger on the inside. The kitchen was connected to the dining room, and the living room only held a small TV and a small table which contained two pokeballs with stickers on them. From the minute she got home the small child started cooking dinner with her Frosslass.

Alexandrea could only sit at the small wooden table and watch. Did she really want to ask? "Um, where are you parents?" She asked.

"Mama and Papa are always traveling. They only say I'm a hindurance to their business travels. I don't see them much." The girl said, still stirring what smelled like mac and cheese, "But that's okay because I have the Frosslass Grandma gave me. I trained her myself you know! I don't have a whole lot of friends but I still have Frosslass~ So it's okay!" The girl smiled.

    Sad...Sounds just like Onee..
    Alexandrea thought.

"But you have lots of fun right?" Alexandrea asked. Curious to know how the girl was doing. This should be considered neglect, shouldn't it?

"Of course! I wouldn't be this happy if I'm not having lots of fun with all my Pokemon!" Hari smiled. Alexandrea smiled back at the girl. So full of hope, a pure soul indeed..

"I can't cook very well, really the only thing I can make is mac and cheese, Frosslass and I usually eat out because Ms. Julliette lets me eat at her place. Ms. Julliette is really, really nice for a gym leader!" The girl smiled and placed the bowl of food down.

"Oh really? A gym leader?" Alexandrea asked. This would be the first time she thought of gym leaders. They were supposed to be really powerful trainers.

"Yeah, yeah! The old gym leader retired and one of his most star pupils inherited it! He didn't want his kid inheriting it because of all the duties of a gym leader." The girl continued to ramble on about the history of the gym Alexandrea's mind wandered to the contents of the room.

It was a small house but Alexandrea noticed quite an array of books. Many looked like they'd be about mythology it perked her interest so she got up and went over to the book case and picked out a book. It was dusty, meaning it probably hadn't been picked up in awhile.

"Mamma and Papa used to read those books to me before they were away all the time." The girl chimed in.

"Ah...." Alexandrea said., she flipped through the pages of the book. She recognized a few of the pictures. Some were of Aphrodite, some were of Zeus, and many other Greek gods. She closed the book and put it back. There weren't a whole lot of pictures in the book so it didn't interest Alexandrea too much.

She sat back down and stuck the spoon into the mac and cheese. She wasn't really a fan of mac and cheese.

IF YOU HAVE TIME TO MAKE MAC AND CHEESE THEN YOU HAVE TIME TO STUDY, CASSANDRA!

She shook the bad memory off. She had no desire to think of her father's actions towards her sister. All that mattered is that these were happier days.

    ---

After the group had finished off their dinner (regardless if they liked it or not) it had gotten dark. The stars were twinkling lightly in the sky and the moon was an elegant crescent shape.

"So, so! You should stay the night! I don't get company much." The small child chimed.

"But...I don't think we should impose too much..." Cassandra mumbled.

"Oh, I don't mind! It will be much more fun for Frosslass and I!" Hari smiled.

"Sounds like a plan to me! I rather like the idea, I'm definitely staying here." Alexandrea grinned, somehow in the corner of her mind she wanted to stay with the girl. She reminded her of herself when she was younger...so happy even in the absence of anyone to keep her company.

    "Yay!" Hari giggled.

  • Sindri didn't hear what Cassandra had whispered to her sister, and even if he did it wouldn't have mattered he didn't even know what a Shedinja was. He did hear Matthias had to say about ghost types, and decided Matthias was a dull normal who clearly had a small, limited mind incapable of looking past psychical strength. Sindri still kept his attention on Hari while his opinion on Matthias formed and he kept a friendly smile when she claimed him as her friend along with the others.

Sindri was not able to keep up with Alexander and Hari and got to the house minutes after the two girls got there. Breathing heavily Sindri entered the house why trying not to show how fatigued he really was. He got inside just as Alexander asked the girl about her parents, and he listened to the conversation without adding in anything. When dinner was ready Sindri announced in a polite and regretful tone, "I didn't want to offend you and insult your hospitality… but I'm afraid I'm lactose intolerant, and if I eat any of this wonderful food I would get very sick." He then reached into his bag and pulled out a high calorie flavorless bar that was used as a quick yet bland meal. He sat down and slowly ate the bar while others indulged in their mac and cheese. Hari had prepared a bowl for Sindri so not to waste food he handed it to a puzzled looking Fircia saying to his Feeling Pokemon, "You might like it though." Fircia ate the mac and cheese slowly as she watched her trainer. He seemed on guard somewhat, but she didn't understand why. Fenrir who had been eyeballing the group while sitting patiently by the door decided he wanted some so he suddenly got up charged over and grabbed Fircia's bowl in his mouth. He then ran under the table and then into the kitchen. Fircia was knocked aside by the Poochyena, and she just watched sadly as the other Pokemon ran off with her dinner. The Poochyena finished off the rest of the bowl in about 2 seconds. He then walked back to his spot next to the door while licking his chops. Sindri seemed to ignore this whole event as his Ralts stood back up slowly.

After dinner Hari offered for everyone to stay the night and Sindri "looked around" and asked, "Sounds good to me also… but where are we all going to sleep? If we don't have room for everyone I do not mind sleeping outside. I like to look to sleep under the stars anyway… they are so fascinating to look at."

Cass ran with the group as much as she could, but it wasn't long before she couldn't even stand let alone run. "Stupid…failing…health…" She panted, and her sister Alexandrea walked over and helped her onto her back. "Gomenasai Imouto… and thank you…" She wrapped her arms around her twin's shoulders as she began to carry her.

"Just relax Onee-chan. It's what sisters are for." Alex smiled slightly at her twin as she started to again run after the pink haired girl.

    --

The house was tiny, and Cass wondered how a family could live inside. "This is my house! It isn't very big but it's big enough for me!" The girl smiled and escorted the group inside.

The building was empty, and Cass sat herself down on the floor in a corner. Alexandrea sat at the table and looked over to the small girl.

    "Um, where are you parents?"

"Mama and Papa are always traveling. They only say I'm a hindrance to their business travels. I don't see them much." The girl answered as she cooked. "But that's okay because I have the Frosslass Grandma gave me. I trained her myself you know! I don't have a whole lot of friends but I still have Frosslass~ so it's okay!"

Cass stared at the girl with wide eyes. Why did parents have to be like that? They were supposed to love, but the only parent she ever knew who had that quality was her mother. Where was mom now? Cass had no idea, but secretly wished she could see her again.

"But you have lots of fun right?" Alexandrea asked.

"Of course! I wouldn't be this happy if I'm not having lots of fun with all my Pokémon!" Hari grinned. "I can't cook very well, really the only thing I can make is Mac and cheese, Frosslass and I usually eat out because Ms. Julliette lets me eat at her place. Ms. Julliette is really, really nice for a gym leader!"

Gym leader? Cass ate her food while deep in thought. When hungry, Cass could eat anything, as long as it was food. She didn't pay much attention to the conversation Hari and Alexandrea were having. If she could win against a gym leader, she could prove how much stronger she could be. Soon the group finished eating and Cass gave out an audible yawn.

"So, so! You should stay the night! I don't get company much." The small child chimed.

"But...I don't think we should impose too much..." Cass muttered. She was grateful to the child, but she didn't want to crowd the girl's already small home.

"Oh, I don't mind! It will be much more fun for Frosslass and I!" Hari smiled

"Sounds like a plan to me! I rather like the idea, I'm definitely staying here." Alexandrea said. Cass sighed a little. Her sister was so much bolder than she was.

"Sounds good to me also… but where are we all going to sleep? If we don't have room for everyone I do not mind sleeping outside. I like to look to sleep under the stars anyway… they are so fascinating to look at." Sindri stated. As much as Cass didn't like him, she had to admit that was decent of him. And star-gazing seemed too romantic for someone who acted so mean.

"I guess its settled then, we stay." Cass smiled and bowed to the girl. "Thank you for the hospitality."

  • Chapter 9: A Conversation: Eavesdropping

Indigo had the same expression he always had, complete neutrality, about the situation he was in now. He was being dragged to some girl's house with a bunch of strangers who either he doesn't like, or are scum anyway. It reminded him of his 'sister', the little... thing... that inhabited his house. He preferred not to think of it as a human, and it was easy to do. Eventually, they got to her house. It was a small house, much like one seen in a fairy tale, though Indigo wouldn't know that.

"Hn?" Indigo asked himself, looking at the house. He noticed that no one was with him, apparently they ran past him while he wasn't paying attention. He had to stop doing that, he needed to be the perfect successor, to be the best.

"And as for this productivity bull crap your spouting I'll let you in on a little secret from what happened with my father, he's using you, he doesn't care what happens to you in the long because there is always someone better to do the job. And this is the complete truth, so you'd better think twice before you make it your mission in life. You might want to try making friends and living life before become a corporate official because then you can't live life at all." Alexandrea's voice echoed within his head. His eyes snapped open, but he forced it away. He had to do this, to rebel is to suffer, to suffer is to be unproductive.

Why should he care about this girl's words? He pushed them out of his mind again and opened the door. He was in luck, they barely got there. Though the house smelled of cheese. He ignored it and closed the door. He'd likely get questioned, but he was with this group, for now, at least. He noticed Alexandrea talking to the girl, and was able to hear their conversation.

"Um, where are you parents?" Alexandrea asked, it seemed sort of hesitant, as if she were debating asking the question before. This kind of intrigued Indigo, as he listened in.

Sad little person, she'll never be able to make it in this world with that attitude. He was about to speak when he saw them begin again.

"But you have lots of fun right?" Alexandrea asked. Indigo sighed, was she trying to state something about him? No, she probably didn't know he was here.

"Of course! I wouldn't be this happy if I'm not having lots of fun with all my Pokemon!" Hari smiled. Alexandrea smiled back at the girl. Fun? What the hell is she going on about with fun? Productivity should come first before personal pleasure, but then again, she looks to be younger then 12, so it doesn't matter as much, but you should get started early in life to get ahead.

"I can't cook very well, really the only thing I can make is mac and cheese, Frosslass and I usually eat out because Ms. Julliette lets me eat at her place. Ms. Julliette is really, really nice for a gym leader!" The girl smiled and placed the bowl of food down. A Gym Leader? Like Sabrina? He was kind of interested in this, why would a Gym Leader get involved with someone like this? Alexandrea sounds like she had the same thoughts, and the girl continued. "Yeah, yeah! The old gym leader retired and one of his most star pupils inherited it! He didn't want his kid inheriting it because of all the duties of a gym leader."

As he moved to speak again, dinner was being served. Indigo looked at it, it looked weird to him, he has never seen this meal before. It kind of scared him, actually. He poked the food, but it didn't seem to be living, so he began to eat it. It wasn't all that bad, actually, but not that great, either. He'd eat it if he were forced, but he wouldn't go back to it.

As everyone finished, he noticed them talking about sleeping arrangements. Everyone else seemed a little iffy about this, but since she offered, he didn't see the big deal. "Very well, it is getting dark, and I don't think you will travel at night. If you wish to stay, we will stay." Indigo said, looking straight at Hari, with his emotionless gaze. "I shall stay on the floor, or go outside if you wish me to, I don't care either way. I have slept on worse."
