Klu was a bit uneasy about how fast night was approaching. She would have to get a good night sleep for tomorrow's class. Not to mention wild Pokemon were more active during the nighttime. Well, at least some of the more vicious ones.
But the Pichu in her arms couldn't feel any more differently. Butler fidgeted to get out of Klu's arms, absolutely ecstatic about playing in the fields. Could you blame him? This was something new and exciting, not to mention he had been napping all the way here and was filled to the brim with energy because of it! Klu went to readjust her grasp on the tiny mouse, but Butler slipped out of her hold and hit the ground running. The Pichu cried with happiness as it went towards a beautiful berry bush.
Klu sighed, letting her Pichu play regardless of her own desires lest the Pokemon to resent her for the rest of the night. Although Butler most likely wouldn't do that, why take the chance? Besides, this might be a good opportunity for her to train the little guy. Klu strolled over into the field, passing her Pichu that was devouring berries like he was Godzilla and fruit was his City.
Klu stopped when she spotted something moving among the grass. It was probably nothing to worry about, it being a rather small figure from what she glimpsed, but this might be a prime candidate for Butler's first real battle.
"Hey, Butler, Come 'ere." Klu said to the Pichu as she motioned with her hands for him to come near. Butler was confused by the sudden change in tone, but trotted over with gaiety in his step. Klu bent her knees so she would be closer to the ground, thus less obvious to spot. As she grew closer, the active grass was more easily seen, and a silhouetted figure was more and more visible.
"Tiny creatures like this tend to be more skittish and timid. If I use the element of surprise, then I can attack it and maybe knock it out in one move." Klu thought, having no other human to share this with. She could've shared it with Butler, but the Pichu recently started to fully understand language and this would've gone over his head anyway. And, come to think of it, she needed to stay quiet as to not alert her target Pokemon.
Klu finally made out the figure and its colors. It was an itty-bitty Rattata, huddled up in the grass with its back to her. It was making tiny little eating noises, hinting that it was distracted by a tasty berry it found. Due to its size, Klu figured it just turned old enough to survive on its own in the wild without the need of parental supervision.
Klu stood up and called her attack loudly to surprise the Rattata and freeze it in place. "Butler, use Thundershock now!"
Everything was set up perfectly. The sound of her booming voice had nailed the scared Rattata to the ground. The attack she called was great, and it should be enough power to knock out the rat in one turn.
....But Butler stood there, looking up at his master in confusion. Why did he have to use Thundershock? There was no technological thingy that needed recharging or anything. They were in a field! Klu, noticing the attack wasn't fired, looked down at the Rattata. The small rat turned its head and cringed at the sight of the human. It screamed in fear and began to make a run for it.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no!" Klu said as she ran after it and jumped to the ground, snatching the thing in her arms over her poncho. It frantically struggled and cried out for help and also attempted to bite down on Klu's arms. Thankfully for her though, her poncho got in the way of the Rattata's mouth and she only received light pinches on her skin. Klu stood up and threw the Rattata in the air at Butler head first. "Butler, use Thunder Wave!"
Butler saw the incoming screaming rat and panicked as he listened to the order. He gave a weak, static-filled shock at the beast, making it drop instantly to the ground at Butler's feet. It was paralyzed; twitching its limbs trying to make a last ditch effort to run away somewhere even though it was on its side. Butler flailed his arms in fret, unknowing what to do.
"Thundershock, Butler!" Klu yelled from afar, pointing her hand at the Rattata.
The Pichu did as he was told, and used all of his tiny might to send out the electric attack from his body. The Rattata yelped in pain, but finally fainted. Klu walked over and examined the rat from above. Butler hesitantly sniffed his previous opponent. Klu gently picked up the rat and cradled it her arms. "Thanks for the experience," She whispered to it. She looked up and caught sight of the nearby Pokemon Center. "Come on, Butler. We got to get this thing to some medical help."
Klu didn't really like harming something that didn't attack her first, but Butler really needs to battle experience. He was even confused when Klu called out the first time she wanted him to use Thundershock! Imagine if that was a trainer battle. Butler would've had his kiester handed to him on a silver platter.
After dropping off the Rattata at the Pokemon Center and thanking the Nurse, Klu casually strolled back to her dorm. It was night already, and she needed to set her alarm clock for her first class.
Butler was in her arms, looking around in investigation at the surroundings near him. He wanted to see that place, and that place, and that place over there, not to mention that place! He was a little disappointed that his master was walking back into the building with the small room again. That was boring compared to the stuff he hadn't seen yet!
(OOC: Heh, this was long, eh? Oh, and if you were wondering, no, Klu is not going to keep the Rattata. :3)
