You should just play up with your starter to the earliest point in which you can capture a member of your team. :)

I might try this, I think I'll do Pokemon Black. You can hack pokemon in can you? I saw someone mention it earlier. I've played pokemon white already (and gone through the whole story)...so it might be interesting to go with pokemon from any gen now. Obviously I wouldn't hack them with special powers or anything.
