  • It's commonly accepted as shouting, and this is how most people will interpret it. As many authors will tell you, it is not your interpretation that matters, it is that of the reader. AND TO MOST PEOPLE, THIS MEANS YOU'RE YELLING!

  • I'll give you guys a hint. I've had to deal with Giga Xisbass. If you don't know who that is, you probably haven't read the Encyclopedia Dramatica article on ALL CAPS >.>

    I'd link people to the ED article, but ED is shameless and likes to put porn ads on their website. >_>; I think this might be to discourage people from browsing during school or something insanely stupid like that.

    If you really want to find it, go google it for yourself.

    That being said, take one good guess how I feel about caps lock abuse. >_>;

  • The very first email I ever sent was in capslock. :) And for a while in grade 3 most of my assignments that were typed up were handed in that way too. I was lucky they didn't grade on style back when because wow would I have failed.

    Haha, anyway I view it as shouting unless it's a header or something. And if I ever have to read text in allcaps aloud, I end up yelling the capslock'd parts. n_n

    I usually think they are for three different reasons: emphasis, expression, and screaming. Why? Because I use cap lock for all three of those reasons

  • Only recently have I actually taken all caps lock to be yelling. I might use all capitals for a word or two just for some emphasis, but now I see caps lock as someone yelling, OR they don't know what their caps lock key is.

    Love it!

    BUT WHY IS EVERYBODY SHOUTING?! I'M HAVING TO SHOUT TOO SO PEOPLE CAN HEAR ME OVER ALL OF THE SHOUTING!!

    SEE I USE BOLD FOR EMPHASIS AND MAYBE EVEN UNDERLINE OR ITALICS, OR SOMETIMES ALL THREE!!!

    BUT ALL CAPS JUST MEANS I'M YELLING IN A VERY STUPID SOUNDING STACCATO MANNER!!!

  • I JOINED THE FACEBOOK GROUP "I HEAR PEOPLE SCREAMING WHEN I READ CAPSLOCK". I USUALLY USE IT SO PEOPLE WOULD TAKE NOTICE OF MY WORDS. I MEAN, HOW CAN YOU NOT NOTICE THIS? :D

  • Yeah, most of the times. When I'm trying to emphasize something, I use bold or italic. Caps is for yelling and excitement for me. I almost never use them anyways :/

  • I read it and use it as screaming (either in a happy or mad way), or to add emphasis. I can usually tell by the context.

    For example:

    Person: I HATE YOU! DIE!
    Me: Why are you yelling at me? ;_;
    Person: Because I love you!

    Me: I think everyone should be strictly monitored by the government. (I don't really, it's just an example)
    Person: What? No. There is this thing..you might have heard of it. It's called FREE WILL.
    Me: o: YOU HAVE ENLIGHTENED ME!

    I USED TO ALWAYS TYPE IN CAPSLOCK BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT LOOKED NICER AND IT WAS NICE NOT HAVING TO USE THE SHIFT KEY TO CAPITALIZE MY LETTERS, BUT NO, I DON'T READ CAPSLOCK ANY LOUDER THAN I DO NORMAL WORDS.

    OK. UMMMMMM... I LIED. I DO WHAT ERICA DOES WHEN SHE READ IT. IF I'M READING OUTLOUD, I OFTEN SPEAK LOUDER WHEN I READ SOMETHING CAPSLOCKED THAN SOMETHING TYPED THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.

    I'M NOT YELLING, EITHER. BUT EVERY TIME I THINK OF CAPSLOCK, I THINK OF COMMUNITYCHANNEL AND REJECTED KEYBOARD STROKES. IT'S SO FUNNY.

    ALSO, EVERYONE WHO REPLIED WITH CAPSLOCK GETS SOME REP.... LOLJK. WE DON'T HAVE REP ANYMORE.
