Turia Region OOC

World:
The Turia region has only been recently discovered, but thanks to Professor Oak and the wonders of satellites, the whole region has had a basic map created.

Turia is a rough octagon, and contains eight environments: mountains, marshes, frozen pine forests, caves, endless plains, deserts, temperate forests, and a single volcano. Interestingly enough, almost every Pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh appear on Turia, making it a hotbed of scientific research. There are only two settlements that can be called 'cities' which are on the south-eastern tip, near the plains. They are the Silph Outpost and the Docklands, owned by Silph Corporation and a trainer by the name of Bruno, respectively. Recently, Silph has begun to take a more imperialist approach to the island, capturing massive amounts of Pokemon and throwing up small camps to find resources.

Plot:

The world of Pokemon is a world rife with discovery. Only recently, in fact, did the esteemed Professor Elm of Johto discover that Pokemon hatch from eggs! (Which then leads to the question of; how do these eggs get here…) However, a much more important discovery has occurred. A new region has been discovered, much to the delight of the scientific community. However, the scientists were intrigued by one mysterious fact about this new region: there are Pokemon from all continents here. The Turia region is the one and only region where one can find a Gible living side-by-side with a Bagon, or massive flocks of Taillow, Pidgey, Starly, and Spearow. This naturally prompted many different scientists to set up small research outposts to study the environment and the Pokemon inhabiting Turia, and everything was most excellent.

But relative harmony was not meant to last. Silph Co had a very unsubtle interest in Turia, and their own research base became more of a fortress, and many regional Professors began to lose contact with research assistants stationed on Turia. Many have feared that Silph is muscling in on their territory to begin doing unethical tests on Pokemon to improve their products, or worse.

Which is where you come in:

You are a Silph Corporation scientist/field worker/guard/hunter. You obviously work for Silph Corporation and are completely dedicated to the Company, regardless of your own safety. You will have access to some of the best equipment money can buy, as well as the benefits of hot chow, hot showers, and medical care. Unfortunately, everyone else on the island hates you.

You are part of a research team sent here. You are being relentlessly hunted by Silph Co.'s Pokemon Hunters and Guards. They are determined to capture you and 'extract' information on Turia, but you are obviously much smarter and more adaptable then they are, and can easily hide and thrive in most environments. The only downside to this is that you are limited by your own items or what you can scavenge.

You are a trainer/breeder/ranger. Attracted to Turia for a myriad of reasons, be it adventure, the chance to nab rare Pokemon, or to stop or aid Silph. You are easily the most versatile, and can move between the research teams and Silph (mostly) unharmed. You are a blank slate, and both sides will try to recruit you if they can. Age: 21
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Silph Company Pokemon Hunter
Appearance: Theron stands at an even six feet and weighs about 180 pounds. Even though he is a caucasian, his dark hair and light tan give him a somewhat Hispanic appearance. Though muscular, he prefers to use his intimidating appearance rather than his fists in fights. His face is unremarkable, apart from a scar that runs down his nose, which was broken in his youth and now goes slightly to the right, and his light gray eyes.

He commonly wears a ripped and faded pair of jeans with holes in the knees, work boots, and a black leather jacket with two narrow white stripes running down the arms. He has two tattoos, a large R on his left shoulder and a laurel wreath over his heart.




Personality: Theron can move between being a fairly mellow person and one of the most sadistic humans on the planet. He is, however, a very good worker and dedicated to his beliefs, most of which center around himself. On a related note, Theron often leaves numerous diaries scattered around, mostly due to the fact that he writes entries sporadically and forgets them, though he often mentions the themes of justice and revenge in his philosophical musings/rants, saying that they're for 'getting everything this damn universe owes me.' Theron tends to use logic before anything else, even if it's not the best time for logical reasoning. Theron spent most of his youth making his own code of conduct, which is as follows:

• Be self-sufficient. The only person who's there for you is you
• If you suffer, make other people suffer.
• Think first, do second
• If you're stuck on a rock, there's always a hard place nearby
• If the universe owes you something, you're entitled to kick it in the balls and rip something out of it's hands.
  

Background: Born in Saffron City, the home of Silph, Theron was never destined for much. Both of his parents traveled constantly, leaving young Theron alone for months at a time. It was during these frequent periods of isolation that he met the first members of Team Rocket. Theron was awestruck by how the Rockets looked out for and supported each other, and by the sense of brotherhood that they fostered within him. Always happy for new recruits, Theron was welcomed into Team Rocket on his thirteenth birthday. He started out small, acting as a distraction so that older members could steal Pokemon and items, and before long he was tagging along with them, taking whatever he wanted. He was fifteen years old when he got his first Pokemon, a Houndour, but almost as soon as he received it, Team Rocket collapsed, and Theron was alone again.


He wandered throughout Johto and Kanto, capturing Pokemon and learning the ins and outs of Pokeball construction, eventually meeting up with another former Rocket named Vicious, who taught him the rudiments of Dark Ball construction. And so he continued wandering, eventually becoming an excellent Pokemon Hunter and began to make a comfortable career out of it. And then Team Rocket returned.

While wandering in the depths of the Lake of Rage, Theron was contacted by Athena, whom he had a crush on years ago. Athena called on him to procure Pokemon 'for us'. Theron was too dim to realize that Athena was only using him and was never attracted to him at all. When Theron found out about Athena's true feelings, he simultaneously discovered how pathetic the reborn Team Rocket was. Disgusted at the Executives (most notably Apollo and Athena) and how the new Rockets were running themselves, he quit in an argument that resulted in him breaking Apollo's nose and his own heart. He began to wander again, gradually cutting off contact with humanity, becoming little more than a monster.

When he was nineteen when he wandered back into Saffron, vowing to go where his feet took him, and his feet happened to take him to Silph Co. When he entered, he was immediately frisked and told that his reputation preceded him. It was then that he found himself an offer to go to Turia to capture Pokemon for Silph, and they would pay handsomely. With no friends and no interest in his family, Theron accepted, and he was among the first people to set foot in Silph's compound.

Pokemon:

Kerberos (male Houndoom)
Crunch, Fire Blast, Payback, Overheat
Kerberos is Theron's first Pokemon, and is the only true friend Theron has, apart from himself. As such, Kerberos is incredibly loyal to Theron, and Theron returns the favor. Kerberos is also incredibly vicious, a behavior that Theron encourages.


Cairn (male Tyranitar)
Dark Pulse, Giga Impact, Earthquake, Hyper Beam.
Cairn is the powerhouse of Theron's team, and his mere appearance is often enough to make even the most stubborn give in to Theron's demands.


Vrykolakas (female Gengar)
Hypnosis, Mean Look, Nightmare, Shadow Ball
Vrykolakas is the immobilizer of Theron's team, putting large numbers of Pokemon to sleep so that Theron can capture them for profit at his leisure.


Togakure (female Hitmonlee)
Revenge, Close Combat, Focus Blast, Meditate
A speed-crazy powerhouse, Togakure keeps people and Pokemon pinned down until Theron can deal with them.


Icarus (male Fearow)
Fly, Sky Attack, Drill Peck, Toxic
Icarus is Theron's main source of transport across the world, mainly because Icaraus is free and provides an opprotunity to catch a few flying-type Pokemon.

Age: 33

Affiliation: Silph Co. - Hunter

Appearance: With golden caramel skin, long, pin-straight jet black hair and a voluptuous, top-heavy figure standing at a miniscule 5'2 in red high heels, Candy appears to many as a living doll in a short monochrome polka-dot dress. That is, if one does not factor in the horrifically mismatched features of the unfortunate face she hopelessly attempts to hide with copious amounts of makeup.
A bridgeless button-nose marks the center of a round, square-jawed face from which protrude a pair of thick painted lips. Creaseless honey-brown almond eyes stare vacantly at the world under thick, bushy black eyebrows above which sits a shiny forehead littered with the crater-like scars of her long lost adolescence.

Clutched in her dainty little slender-fingered hands is a large, black handbag with silver buckles upon its many pockets, which hold many things such as Pokeballs, gadgets, makeup and... well, more makeup.

Personality: Clumsy with an IQ of 85, Candy should barely function as a human adult, yet miraculously she does. Obviously, she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, though she is smart enough to bark orders at Pokemon and throw balls at things therefore she is smart enough for the mission. Despite her alignment and mutton-dressed-as-lamb dress sense, Candy is in fact a fairly decent person once one gets to know her... That is, if one ignores her strange habits and overall idiocy. Candy is socially inept, though seems to have a certain way with Pokemon, the reason for which many would jokingly say would be that she has the mental capacity of a Dunsparce.
Like most who call themselves Pokemon Trainers, Candy strives to be the best, though she does tend to become anxious during battles for she worries for the safety of her Pokemon. On the flip side, she doesn't seem to have much regard for her own safety as could be seen by her horribly impractical dress sense. She has been noted for being able to deal with "difficult" Pokemon, though ironically some of her own Pokemon drive her up the wall with their behaviour, though not quite as often as she does to them.
Candy is more of a doer than a thinker, partially because she's not exactly all that well mentally equipped to think too deeply, hence she can be reckless at times. Though one may surmise from the above information that Candy is generally quite a cheerful individual, her painted gap-toothed smile hides the disturbed mind of a pessimist, which clearly shows through when she speaks, tempting fate by stating the very worst that can happen before casually laughing it off.

Background: Born to a working-class underachievers Zho Duang and Roger Attridge, Candy spent most of her childhood and adolescence sitting in a mouldy one-bedroom apartment listening to the radio while watching a Magikarp or whatever small fish-like pokemon her parents had caught to keep her company struggle to breathe in a bowl of filthy water. Unsurprisingly, she did not do very well at school, hence she had decided to drop out at age sixteen to live off the scraps thrown to her by her father and absent mother. This carried on well into her twenties, during which she moved out of home - not a smart move for someone who could hardly feed herself even with the support of two parents and an aunt. Bored beyond belief due to not being able to afford many of life's luxuries, Candy considered signing up to become a pokemon trainer - only to discover that at twenty-eight she was far too old. Crestfallen, she limited herself to doing odd jobs around a pokemon daycare. For about a year, she was stuck with the gruelling task of feeding and cleaning up after other people's Pokemon and had many a time witnessed a female Pokemon in the course of laying an egg.

One day, a travelling professor, impressed with the standard of care Candy had upheld for his Duskull had decided to let her keep the little Ghost Pokemon and had mailed her a package containing the basic supplies given to every beginning Pokemon trainer, despite the fact that Candy happened to be nineteen years older than her peers. Since that fateful day, Candy has been working hard to be the best trainer she can possibly be for her Pokemon... That is, the best trainer she could possibly be.

Now at thirty-three, poor Candy has yet again found herself down on her luck, up to her somewhat cleft chin in medical bills as a result of the stupid mistake she made allowing her Abra to evolve twice and start suffering from countless illnesses and the occasional brain tumor. This coupled with her fondness for beauty products, inability to cook and desire to spoil her Pokemon rotten had led the poor woman to sell her moral standards to Silph Co. in exchange for some cold hard cash and free access to their products and facilities.

Dusknoir♀
Name: Baby-Doll ("Dolly")
Nature: Relaxed
Bio: Candy's first and most treasured Pokemon, Baby-Doll has been by her trainer's side since the very beginning. She may look rather menacing, but beneath that one-eyed glare lies a warm, motherly individual who cares deeply for her teammates and trainer. She can be a bit of a nag at times, though she is usually a relatively pleasant, easily dealt with Pokemon. Dolly is at times too trusting of others and comes off to many as somewhat gullible, having many a time wound up following someone who isn't her trainer under the guise of being led back to her. Despite her species' role in the natural ecosystem, Dolly is abhorred by anything to do with the cessation of life to the point where she'd cringe at the roadkill and refuse to join her trainer during dinner if meat is anywhere on the menu. Befittingly, Dolly is very protective of those around her and goes to great lengths to keep them safe. Being as trusting as she is, she does not question her trainer's commands unless they put her teammates in serious danger. She is unaware as to why her trainer has been sending her out to face hoardes of wild Pokemon lately, though this is probably for the best.

(I know someone else has one, but I don't care so PFFFT. Plus, she's evil. Sort of. Uhhh... Look over there, it's a flying Spoink!)
Name: Clare
Nature: Timid
Bio: Obtained accidentally as an Abra from a lost and found bin blunder, the vertically-challenged (3'11) psychic has been little more than a burden on the team and a hole in Candy's back pocket. While she is relatively skilled in battle, she is rarely used for she suffers from... well, being Clare. She is whiny, jumpy, neurotic and afraid of just about everything. Ironically, she is not in the slightest afraid of Ghost-type Pokemon, hence her close friendship with Baby-Doll. She is also overly affectionate to those to whom she takes a liking, meaning her poor trainer must endure a brutal face-licking every time she allows her Alakazam out of her pokeball.
As with most of her species, Clare's intelligence quotient is in excess of 5000 and she is able to understand concepts that many cannot. However, as she also happens to be a shallow, forgetful ditz who learns at the pace that makes her trainer look like Uxie, her immense intellect has been rendered useless. The fact that she is a hopeless romantic and seems to develop little crushes on random - sometimes enemy - male Pokemon doesn't help in the slightest.
Clare currently serves as an illusionist of sorts, blocking the attempts of native psychics to read her trainer's mind whilst supplying them with a false image of sincerity. She knows very well what she is doing and why her trainer had asked her to do so, though disturbingly enough she doesn't appear to care.

Bio: It's not every day you meet your preferred fighter while some stray Poochyena's taking a leak on his leg, but it happened to Candy and, according to her, it was one of the best things that had ever happened to her. While the many-faced tree was trying to kick the dog, Candy threw the ball and caught him, making him hers. Since then, the two have been getting along quite well, despite the fact that Janus seems to take great pleasure in watching his trainer make a scene as he disobeys every second command he is given.
Whenever his heads agree that he should take mercy on the poor woman, he makes her Alakazam's life miserable. Unlike most of his kind, Janus constantly argues with himself, at times even having feuds among his heads.
Candy sometimes jokes about the "J" in his name being silent, though thankfully, it isn't.

Name: Pepper
Nature: Serious
Bio: Bright, focused and keen on his goals, Pepper seems to be the only one of Candy's Pokemon with any sense. About three months ago, the poor sod wound up being captured by Ms. Attridge-Huang and her band of misfits while he was just trying to have a nice meal of Magikarp in a stream. Despite the nature of their first encounter, he and Candy have become good friends. Though he does not show it, Pepper cares deeply about his trainer and is always there when she needs him, acting as her means of transport and to an extent, storage. He does not take too kindly to the antics of his trainer's other Pokemon and at times feels that he is surrounded by idiots, though he puts up with them in the name of achieving his own goals, which in turn tend to involve helping Candy achieve hers.
Within his huge bill, Pepper holds a mass of pokeballs with which Candy would capture Turian Pokemon to bring back to Silph Co.

Nature: Modest
Bio: An ex pet-therapy Pokemon, Sunshine is the tamest of the tame, allowing absolutely anyone to handle her. However, her cute smile and cuddly little body hide the twisted mind of an emotional vampire. Sunshine seems to enjoy comforting others so much that she would go out of her way to cause problems just so she can "solve" them. She is often seen in Candy's arms, on her shoulder or on rare occasions on her head. Sunshine is not used in battle, though she does serve a purpose as she can inform her trainer of the current weather and, of course, temporarily change it if necessary.

I've thought of something, and I guess this is the place to do it. What about we list all the accepted bio's in the first post, either in this thread or the game thread, in order to make it easier for the members to check out other players? Also, if split into three categories (Silph workers, Research Teams and Independant), it'll be easier to see who's on your side and how many of each we have, so you can always close off sign ups for one or more categories if the balance gets all outta proportion... Like it did with the Independant early on...

If we are going to list all of the sign-ups in one spot, it might be a good idea to just summarize the characters in a few brief lines. Ex: Josh, 21, Silph Co., abandoned at birth, unsocial and vindictive, good at martial arts. Most people don't need the rest of the info, just a quick reminder about who's who.

My idea was that each character would just be hidden behind their own "spoiler" tag, to save space... and so people can look up the people they need, instead of searching through walls of text... ALL their information should be there, or most of the reasoning for collecting them would go to waste(the fact people can see ALL information on people easily, without having to search through, like... 80 pages(if we get that far)


About the ignoring... Well... TECHNICALLY, Infinite destroyed our boat during the fight she(he?) had with Enilias... My post had my character stop his pokemon from going through the move(earthquake), yet... I was completely ignored... So well, technically, we're all drowning -.- But apparently the Earthquake was harmless, which is why we aren't... and my characters' actions didn't happen... In these kinds of RP's, people really have to read beyond their own post... Cause if they don't, we suddenly have 3 different scenarios happening the same place at the same time... And that, my friends, is called Chaos...

About the ignoring, how is it no one notices a person fall on a boat with the help of a big blue aligator? I agree that we certainly need to be more perceptive of what's going on around us in these rp's, perhaps take it slow and wait for others to post before belting off your own. I don't mean to kind of criticise anyone, but it benefits everybody in the end.

Correct, Mira! I just finished trying to do that, but it still exceeds the max count if I separate the different factions. The only real solution I can think of is to just make a whole bunch of posts, but that doesn't seem like the smart option.
