Ultimate Monotype Challenge Thread

Well... I was originally planning on starting an Ice monotype, however, due to my impatience and some wi-fi difficulty, I've diverged on a Water monotype path. I'm playing Heartgold for my Monotype.

Since things were a little hectic at the beginning, I'll start at Violet.

Beat Falkner easy with Totodile of whom managed to evolve into a wonderful Croconaw.
Went down route 32, caught a Wooper and leveled it up to level 10 and then later to 14 as I came down to the Pokemon Center before Union cave.
In Union Cave I leveled my Wooper further to level 17 and managed to get through easily, having the advantage.
Made to Azalea and went through Slowpoke Well where I added a Slowpoke to my arsenal. I think I'll be using it.
Now Bugsy...

Fought her and won, however, it took a while. Turns out Wooper was too weak :/ So I relied on Croconaw to solo. Overall my strategy was to rely on rage and it was successful. A rage boosted bite finished off Scyther and leveled my Croconaw to 21 so it could learn Ice Fang. Ice Fang will be useful versus rival :3

Went smooth.
Gastly vs Wooper. Knocked it out it two hits, but sadly it cursed my Wooper.
Bayleaf vs Croconaw. Ice Fang twice did the trick, but sadly I was poisoned.
Zubat vs Wooper. Slammed it, but Supersonic gave me a headache -.-

Started a new game on platinum picking Turtwig as my starter
after going tho the into and 'how to thro a ball at a pokémon' lecture.
caught a Bidoof and leveled it to 10. made way to Jubilife and leveled to 13 before facing off rival.

-Got though Ice path and caught a Swibu and named her Lilly
-Caaught a Gilgar and named her kaura
-Train Lilly and LLaura to Level 43
-Faced the gym trainers

Lennie thundered the Gyrados yet was flooded by thet water dragon.
Luna luckly got a crit on her Earthquake killing the sea dragon!
Luna was switched for Laura who done a sword dance and x scizzored the Dragon snake, she was sadly killed by a dragon pluse
Luna killed it with a Earthquake and slash
Luna then killed the last dragon with Earthquake!
-Got the rise badge!
-Passed the Dragon test
-Got the Master Ball
-Defeated the Kiomo girls
-Killed Ho-oh
-Now off to the Pokemon Leauge

Wow...haven't updated in several weeks. This'll be a long one...

Update Time:
-Spent a good few hours grinding my team up to handle the E4, since they were pretty underleveled.
-Then battled the E4:
Sydney - Dark types = cake for Fighting monstas
Phoebe - Ghost wasn't too bad, Chick-Fil-A's Blaze Kicks came in handy
W/e the Ice ladies name is - Ice =cake for Fighitng monstas too
Drake - This guy and his Dragons sucked. Took a few tries + hell of a lot of luck with slash crits from Chick-Fil-A to take out Salamence and Flygon, the guys who gave me the most trouble
Steven - Gave more trouble than I though his Steel Types would. Namely his Skarmory and Metagross, but everyone pretty much came together and raped with a plethora of Fighting skillz

Ladies and Gents - Hoenn is complete. Time for a end-team roundup:

Easily my team's MVP. Blaze Kick and Slash made for some great easy kills, and were instrumental in my battle against Drake, the real ***** of Hoenn's E4. Thanks dawg, you've been there since the beginning.

DiGiorno (Machoke) Lv 52
-Low Kick
-Cross Chop
-Strength
-Karate Chop

Machokes...what can I say? You're in every single Pokemon game, so you guys make appearances in EVERY one of my Fighting playthroughs. Resilient, powerful, learned in the arts of Fighting attacks, you guys are the definition of Fighting Pokemon. But since you were among the original 151, easy to see why.

Yoko (Breloom) Lv 53
-Mega Drain
-Headbutt
-Mach Punch
-Sky Uppercut

If anyone could contest Chick-Fil-A's MVPness on my team, it'd be this Breloom. His Sky Uppercut slaughtered anything, and if not Headbutt and Mach Punch could make for the 2HKO fantastically. Mega Drain was useful in gettin rid of various Water types. You made yourself useful, Yoko.

Wall-E (Medicham) Lv 49
-Psychic
-Hi Jump Kick
-Shadow Ball
-Mind Reader

This Medicham, since I caught it and raised it so late in the game, came in almost no use whatsoever, and pretty much was on my team just cuz he was there. His moveset is pretty cool though, would've liked to have seen if he was good at anything besides being potion bantha fodder during the E4.

Wasabi (Hariyama) Lv 53
-Facade
-Vital Throw
-Earthquake
-Seismic Toss

THIS was one resiliant motha-trucka. Not a very good learned move-pool, but nothing TMs couldn't fix. I really liked having a Hariyama, their crazy HP ensured that he could take a couple of hits while getting in some necessary eqs, so he did his job. O and Facade helped as well, since he was inflicted with some status BS at least 80% of all battles.

SLAVE (Tropius) Lv 25
Tropius's make such magnificent slaves. Cut, Flash, Fly, Rock Smash? Thank you. When combined with the Slave capabilities of a Tentacruel, you guys make traveling in Hoenn much easier.

But its been weeks since I've updated...at least since page like 16. You think I've just been lazy this whole time? Think again. Sinnoh has been started on my handy dandy Diamond Version. So I think it's.....

Update Time:
-Started game, picked Chimchar (nicknamed Helena), cuz he evolves into a fighting ape monkey.
-Learned how to catch Pokemon, did our thang in Jubilife City, etc etc.
-Explored various routes and leveled up Helena.
-Went to Oreburgh and fetched the gym leader from the mines, so I could rape him with some Mach Punches and get a badge.
-Caught a Machop (forgot to nickname), but not sure if I want to use him. I've raised too many Machokes throughout my runthroughs thus far >_<
-Saved a guy from Team Galactic at the Valley Windworks
-Started slathering honey on trees so I can find a Heracross eventually for my team
-Escorted some lady through the forest, made it to Eterna City
-Beat the gym leader, got cut
-No Heracrosses yet :(
-Went and caught a Meditite (named Psykick...get it? Xp ). Not sure if I want to use him or not though.

OK, I finished my KAnto part of the UMC Bug.

MVP: Venomoth, Butterfree, and Scyther
LVP Beedrill and Parasect, Parasect had no purpose other than Lt. Suge and dig and Beedrill only came in handy with Alakazam and Lorelei's Jynx

I did quite a bit today on my water monotype.
I've gotten up to my fifth badge from only having two.

I beat my rival (details in last post) and moved on through Ilex Forest.
I caught a Oddish and used it JUST for Cut. I'll count it as one of my slaves... but, only because Water types leave me easily with plenty of users for the water tms.
I also leveled my Wooper just one measly level and gasp :O It evolved it Quagsire, instantly becoming a powerhouse for this level.
I spent all of Goldenrod leveling my Slowpoke to level 23.
Then my fight against Whitney...

Whitney was suprisingly easy from what I remembered of the original games o.o
Quagsire vs. Clefairy. Two hits from Mudbomb and she went down.
Slowpoke and Quagsire vs. Milktank. Yawn and then Mudbombs of death. It helps that Mudbomb lowers accuracy :P

From here I wooshed through fourth badge stuff cause there was a poke I wanted :3
So yeah... finished getting to Eckruteak, got HM Surf, and wanted to do gym asap... but >.< I had to go through burned tower.
Rival fight!

I beat him rather easily while focusing on leveling Croconaw for next gym. I can't really remember much else.

Then I unleashed the dogs and rushed over to the gym of which was Croconaw chow. Ridiculously easy fight.

I taught Slowpoke surf and went through Union Cave to get Lapras and I added it to my team. Union Cave at the time was a tad hard so I'll have to revisit later.
I also caught me an HM slave, Golduck (heh, my type anyways), on the way back to Ecruteak
From here I proceeded to Olivine where I caught a Farfetch'd along the way. He will be my flyer.
At Olivine I scaled the lighthouse to meet Jasmine before heading to Cianwood.
I trained all of my pokes to level 30ish before trying gym. Chuck was slowpoke chow! Although, even still it was mehish.
Afterwards I went immediately for Jasmine of whom fell easily to my Quagsire (for Magnemite) and Slowpoke (Steelix).

Now I'm just training before heading out to Mahogany Town.

My real life journey
Looked at both my leaf green and fire red
Leaf green i was about half way through the game
Fire red i had started a game with and saved it without picking a starter i was like fantastic.

Chapter 1 Basic beginnings:
O.K i picked Charmander (what a cutie) Really i don't want to type the basic beginning of my journey cause we have all done it before
I saved it right after The man got his coffee he taught me how to catch a pokemon and i saved it

Ok i know the above update was very very dry but i think we all must hate the first update But like Australian Current prime minister would say

Chapter 2 "You really bug me"

Continued up route 2 leveled up zippo for a while
Once Zippo reached level 8 i proceeded through the Virdian forest
Zippo then went through and fought all the little bug catchers and won like seriously i had a charmander

Hooray for Stinger Missiles!

Winona was just too easy. I think she really suffers a level deficit considering I was finding wild pokes higher level than her team in areas before you had to beat her. Quite sad.

Team is going well now. Finally have my chosen team of six together. Most of their move sets are still pretty shallow given that I don't yet have access to the TM's I want for most of them and/or I haven't made final decisions yet.

In HGSS, when you go to Kanto... Does that count as Kanto, or is part of the Johto run? (Like, if I do that, do I still have to make my way through FRGL?)
