What do you name your rival?

I was wondering what people name their rivals in the games?

Words that cannot be expressed unless I'd like a few more infractions. It's always the way to go in games with namable NPCs or other dialouge elements.

I usually give my rival a generic, but not common name that "fits their personality."
I named Gary, "Blake" on my first playthrough of LeafGreen, and I named Barry, "Rhett" on Diamond.
You can probably get a sense of how I name from the information given.

i name my rival bob just an easy name to type and its a pretty basic name

Unfortunately, I didn't name my Rivals after Cuss words or Swears.

Rival in Red/Green/Blue/Yellow= Gary

Rival in Soul Silver/Heart Gold/Gold/Crystal/Silver= Silver

Rival in Emerald= Brendan

Rival in D/P/Platinum= Barry

Yup, I chose to be a girl in most of my Pokemon games..

I usually name my Rival on G/S/C/HG/SS Silver, because that's his name in the manga.

Well for R/B/Y, I always named him Gary because of the anime, but for everything afterward, it would always be a random name I like or one of the names in the list you get if one sounds good. For HG/SS, though, I named the rival after my best friend because we both went through a play through at the same time and we named the rivals after each other just because.

At the moment I'm playing Heart Gold and I named the red-haired guy Wayne :D That's actually the first time I haven't name him something rude or after somebody I knew :L
"Passerby boy" kind of looked like a Wayne to me? xD No offence to anybody called Wayne on here :P

Usually on the first new game, I choose the manga/anime name..
after restarting, I usually just either babble their name with random texts or.. swears.

My very first rival (pokemon gold) I named him GAG for so many years. I never understood why xD

But after awhile I started naming the rivals their rightful manga name.

Yellow: Green
Gold/Crystal: Silver
FR/LG: Green
DPt: Pearl
HG/SS: Silver

Unfortunately you cannot name your rival in the Hoenn and Unova regions.

My rival names are all over the place, based on my mood and what comes to mind. Sometimes it's swear words, other times semi-obscure references, others just random names... One time, I even gave a rival my own name. That was strange of me.
