    Okay 2 years ago I brought my 2 cousins into the world of pokemon by letting them play pokemon rom games and watching pokemon D/P. I let them play in order of RBY/LGFR/GS/RS/DP so they can understand the changes but even though i did this my cousins still asked me.........

    "Why can't I catch Gliscor in G/S/C?"

    I countlessly explain each pokemon and the new generations of their evos but it took months b4 they finally understood.

    Has this happened to you?

    That's kinda funny.

    Well, I dunno I mean I joined the Pokemon craze later than most and still caught on pretty fast...

    Well that's probably due to the fact that their playing Gold and Silver while watch the anime. Remember, the anime is based on D/P/Pt and they probably think that the anime currently coexists with G/S/C.

    I remember being pissed when I found out you couldn't get Wynaut in Gold and Silver even though Ash was in Hoenn.

    New pokefans meet 400(+) pokemon all together, so they are confused why not all of them are in older games. Trying to explain your cousins that there used to be 151 pokemon, then became 252, then 385 and finally became the huge lot they are today, is not that easy either. It is almost as hard as explaining them that there used to be another mayor in your town, than the one that is today.

    I got into pokemon when I was young, but I got the concept quite easily.
    I guess it's hard for people who haven't really heard of it ever. My sibling had played pokemon before me but because I'd seen him play, I understood it well.

    Well my younger brother found this site about EV'ing and he asked me to explain it to me, it took hours...T_T;
    Why didn't he just search? But no he asked me instead :(

    This happens, all the time! They're new to this fields, so no reason to be mad that they're confused.

    Yeah, it took me a while to understand everything when my friend showed me his Sapphire. I still don't understand some stuff, like breeding. :|

    Well it takes time for everything, there are some friends i've had tough time explaining about pokemon - just because ash's pikachu defeats every darn pokemon sometime, they think a pikachu in the game can defeat the same way in the game too, i hated to explain that the game's have mechanics.. and anime is just scripted.. but they kept on arguing yeah i've have had tough times explaining people .. they still think the same ugh*

    Depends...how old are your cousins?

    They were 5 & 6 when i brought them into pokemon, now their 7 & 8

    @everyone: thx for ur reasons and stories, I found them amusing and reasonable to how younger generation r confused.

    mostly I agree with tha fact they watch D/P and play the game at the same time.
