How can I make my parents understand by selling a forum from scratch can make money?

I told them I would make a forum and sell that, they don't believe me that making a forum from scratch doesn't make money(Because they wanted to get some more money).

Are they correct or am I?

Well you could make a forum for money in the same sense that you can make a website for money, if someone wants you to make one and you know how to design a decent website, go ahead. Don't do it from scratch then find someone to sell it too, know what the person your selling it too wants. Also, don't do it if you don't know what your doing. I'm no professional, and I'm guessing by your post neither are you, but it is possible you to sell a forum.
