This is a RP based off of a book trilogy I'm (slowly) writing. For generations, humanity theorized about intelligent life elsewhere in the galaxy. When we finally achieved practical space travel, we found that those theories were wrong. The was intelligent life out there. A lot of it. More than anyone had imagined, spreading across not just the galaxy, but the entire universe. Earth was a small, backwater planet, in a small backwater galaxy in the terriory of a provincial worlord. He was eventually overthrown, along with all the other warlords, dictators, and petty rulers. A single government was set up, a republic. All the major races (including, by now, humankind) were represented fairly and equitably. Inter-galaxy travel was made even easier with the development of the Subspace drive which borrowed holes in reality, allowing distance that previously took lifetimes to be traveled in a matter of minutes. It was a golden age.

Things now couldn't be worse. Pirates plague the trade lines, raiding anything that comes their way, from large tourist crusiers to merchant vessels. The Navy is spread too thin to be an effective deterrent. Even if they had the numbers, they wouldn't have the funding. The Senate, based in a planet long ago hidden in a nebula has become corrupt and self-serving. Worse, the research banch of the Republic, the same branch that developed Subspace capibility is rumored to have begun experimenting on living, sentient beings. There has been no eidence of such activity for five years now, but the whispers still remain. Five years ago, the most promising of every race that could be taken was. The brightest, stongest, fastest. All of them dissapeared over a period of a few months. A couple corpses were found drifting around Adan Prime, but that was all.

Feliarn: Somewhat catlike, these creatures are renowned for their skill in piloting and melee combat. Unusual charicteristics include sharp teeth, retractable claws, a tail, and an amazing sense of balance. Often used militarily as reconnisance.

Human: No explanation necessary

Avangian: Almost angelic, the Avangians are know for being physically frail but brilliant. A pair of wings jut from the back of the Avangians. They make up the tacticians, philosiphers, and scientists of the galaxy.

Anguian: If any race could be said to make up the merchant class, these would be them. Sly and crafty, there are few records of an Anguian coming off worse in a deal. They appear almost snakelike, with no eyelids and scales covering their bodies. Militarily, they are effective mainly in mid-level command positions.

Lupinian: These tall, well-muscled beings comprise the bulk of the military. Their uses are numerous, including occupation, construction, and as shock troops. They work best when used in units of ten to twenty. Rarely are they seen outside of the military.

Pirate: Raid the space lines, get some cash, the usual pillaging and plundering. You don't have access to the best equiopment, but you have the Navy outnumbered. Three major bands, the Crimson Fury, Outer Rim, and Nebulon.

Mob: These people work behind the scenes, controlling the workings of the government. Having mob ties can be a useful thing.

Navy: A no-fun, stuffy, white-shirted jerkwad. A jerkwad with cool toys, though.

Merchant: The money behind everything. Oftentimes work closely with the mob to control the economy.

Freelancer: Works for whoever has the cash. Simple as that.

Name: Eclipse Luna
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Avangian
Occupation: Ahem.... Pay me, and I'll do something for you. Until then, get out of my face! AKA Freelancer
Weapons: She can use anything that she gets her hands on, but she prefers to fly out of danger. Common weapons of her creation tend to be paralysis rays, explosives, and of course toxins.
Personality: Normally doesn't care about the world, only has partners when she's paid to have them (and later, they suddenly turn up dead for some reason) but she is brilliant. She can modify almost anything to serve a purpose other then what it was intended. Some say she made a nuclear reactor out of junk once, that could have exploded had she done it wrong.
Appearance: She looks a lot like a normal human, tall, with black hair, and enjoys wearing a black sweater and slacks to make her look considerably normal unless she's in the lab. Her eyes are a reddish color, and her wings actually change color depending on her mood. Some say that if she is for once in a good mood (can anyone say rare?) her normally black wings have hints of white feathers in them.

<OOC>I invited a few others, but since they seem to be MIA, we'll start now. They can join later if they so choose.<OOC>

I sat stiff-backed in my chair, carefully sipping my ale. It was a dingy spacer's bar, tucked away in one of the far corners of the Andromeda Galaxy. The bar, one of the busiest (not that that said much) establishments on this hollowed-out asteroid was useful for several purposes. First, the Navy knew nohing of it. Not that that really meant much. Second, it was also home to the Council, the ruling order amongst the Crimson fury. I'd been contacted to arrive here (as usual, through a string of intermediaries) for new orders. Downing the last of my drink, I slid a few credit chips across to the barkeepr for another round. My crew had some free time for now. Probably wasting their wages at a strip show or some such. Fools.

January 10th, 2005, 6:23 PM
I was annoyed. Flat out PO'ed. The courier came late, the cargo was damaged, and we recieved damage to the hull reaching the space of Carlack VII. and of course, the boss man paying our wages today was more than likely giong to be equally PO'ed when we finally finished smuggling these parts for him. "Hurry it up, you slackers!" I shouted angrily. " W'ere wasting valuable time and money here!"

I looked through my personal microscope, which by now I had managed to alter into just being a disk in hid air. Crimson Fury was paying me to design another weapon for them, I didn't know what it would be used for, I just made it. The property of it would be that when fired, it would stop whatever it hit in its tracks for about 30 minutes. Time stoppers had been designed before, but this one would be the first of its kind to not only last longer then 15 seconds, but it would be able to 'overlap' adding 30 minutes every time a target was hit. I knew someone would be sent down to check on me soon, hopefully this time they wouldn't be trying to get fresh with me like the guy my last employer sent down. He was the first one to end up my personal test on a very painful bone-dissolving system...

The blonde woman motioned to me. She was lith, slender, sexy...and human. I'd have bedded her in an instant if it wasn't for her race. Because of that, she simply remained "the blonde woman." She always gestured to me, signaling that it was time for me to meet my superiors. They never changed messengers, it was always her. I nodded, leaving my drink unsinished. Standing, I walked to the restroom. It was even dirtier than the rest of the bar. A hidden door slid open after I'd been authorized. A long, dark corridor led to the Council chambers. Upon entering the central chamber, I immediately dropped to one knee until the familiar female voice said "Rise." Looking up, I saw a hologram of three masked figures in bloodred robes standing before me. Even the best commandores in the Fury rarely met the Council in person. Captains such as myself never got that opportunity. I stood slowly, keeping my hands outstretched. A deep, gravelly voice said "Captain, we have summoned you for two items today. First, you are hereby promoted to Commandore of the fifth squadron. Secondly, we need you to check up on one of our freelance agents. The coordinates for your meetup with your squadron and her location are being transmitted to your personal workstation now. I bowed and said "I understand. Should I leave immediately?" The central figure nodded. I bowed and exited, my mind boiling. It was not my place to question, though.

After a few moments of examining the energy perticle I was looking at, I picked up a gun nearby, that LOOKED like any standerd model, but its properties were vastly diffrent. I put on a set of protective glasses, tossed one of my own featheres out in front of me, and pulled the trigger. a neon green light jumped from the ray to the feather, and it stopped immediatly on contact, and I started a timer to see how long it would stay. I checked the timer again after what seemed like only moments later.. I had doubled the current record of 15 seconds already, and I waited on baited breath for it to wear off so I could see how long it took...

January 10th, 2005, 8:09 PM
I tapped one of my cufflinks casually once I'd exited the bar. It activated my comlink, sending out a series of beebs that summoned my crew back to the ship. At the moment, I was flying a modified Starbridge. It was a small ship, three fighter bays, crew of ten, but beyond servicable. The crew was late. Expected, but not good. I was already at the docking bay, waiting for them. Once I reached my squadron, I might move up. Last I'd checked, the Fifth even had a carrier. Most likely, though, that had gone down when the old Commandore had been relieved of his command.

I checked the timer again. Now that the inital excitement was over, a minute seemed like an hour.. only a minute had passed, but to my releif, the energy radiating off the stopped feather was still pretty strong. I spread my wings finally, stretching them out. I had been down here for what felt like several days. It was like I was a paid prisioner. I would have left by now had I not been conserned about my life. Though why this was, I was not certain. After all, my life had been in the pits as long as I could remember, my mind being my only savior..

There are so many times I hate my job. Tonight was one of those times. I had been sent to expect a scene of a suspected act of piracy. There was nothing there though, at least not yet. Only another Ferlian.
An oddly dressed Ferlian...I thought.
Not only was it strange that he was dressed so formal, but the fact that he was at a dock, that's what threw me off.
He seemed to be expecting someone though. Maybe he was one of the people involved in the to be act of piracy.
I decided to stay and watch him, hidden away in the shadows, but my clumsiness caused me to hit a small crate rather hard. I just hoped he didn't hear it.

Name: Saphira Moonstream
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Race: Feliarn
Occupation: Freelancer
Weapons: Two daggers, small electro pistol. Saphira knows a bit of martial arts, which she uses as a last resort
Personality: Cold, Nevers trust anyone for a very long time, a loner, hates being around too many people at once. Isnt afraid to start a fight. Or finish it.
Appearence: about 5'6, lean, sapphire eyes, tannish skin, a light blue tank, and dark blue denim jeans, and a silver chain that most people cant see. Saphira has silver cat ears and tail, and a thin scar on her left cheek.

January 11th, 2005, 5:20 PM
It took me and my crew of five a few standard Earth days before we were prepared to leave teh space of Carlack VII. next we were to meet our contact at a preset point by our employer. We had no idea what we were transporting, or for who it was for. The person who had given us this job was anonymous and just asked it to be done. The only reason why we bothered was because we were being paid 10,000 (Whatever the currency is. TAD, make a currency! :P) an hour for it, which I must admit peaked our interest. Still, with us behind schedule and a poor courier giving us damaged parts, I was afraid we may get stinted with our pay. Simon, our trusted navigator, guided us towards the planet we were told to meet our contact. We hovered above the docks, trying to find the person we were looking for. From there, we were supposed to transfer our cargo to a ship our contact had with him. So we were told anyway.

<OOC>We're using Republic Credits.<OOC>

My sharp ears picked up something, a crash or some such. I whipped out my blaster pistol, looking around cautiously. I was prevented the trouble of a search by the arrival of my first mate and the rest of the crew, the lot of them looking surlier than usual. The mate asked "Planning to finally do me in?" I snapped in reply "Fan out and search the area. I heard something."

January 11th, 2005, 5:35 PM
Saphira flexed her claws, watching her target. She hated her job, but it was the only way to support herself. As soon as its dark, I'll attack... The Feliarn told herself, watching the man. He was oblivious to the fact that she was planning to kill him, and continued talking and laughing with his friends.

January 11th, 2005, 5:42 PM
As soon as my ship settled in it's cradle, I knew something was amiss. Several armed men were running the docks, seeming to be hunting for something. And I had a gut feeling something was about to go down. "Simon, Clock, keep to teh ship. Gatling, Mace, Sabre, your with me." I drew my gun, and quickly lowered teh exterior hatch. WE ran out onto the docks, quickly taking cover behind some crates nearby. Perhaps that was why our employer paid us so much: They knew it would be a risky job. "Gatling, you, and Mace take head around the right." I pointed off in the given direction. " Sabre, you and I take the left. We're gonna find out if this welcome party is for us and if they're hostile. Do not fire unless you are fired upon. YOu kill our contact and I kill the man that cost us 10,000 credits. Now move out!" mace and Gatling nodded their affirmation and ducked out along the crate line to the right. me and Sabre kept low to the deck on the left to avoid being detected.

January 11th, 2005, 5:44 PM
Saphira sighed, drumming her fingers on the roof of the bar. The day seemed to be moving extremely slow, and she hardly had any patience. Before long, she was going to snap, and just charge in there and kill everyone.

I sighed as the counter passed 10 minutes, and I set to work with other things, though checking back what seemed like every second. Truth be told, I was bored, no one had come down here for about 48 hours. Which was also the reason that I was hoping this would work, if I didn't finish soon, I was probably as good as dead... Neglect was not something I liked...

January 11th, 2005, 6:22 PM
Saphira growled, laynig on the roof of the bar. What was it that was so special about this guy? Some sort of technology? Saphira didnt remember, or truthfuly care. She just wanted to get the mission over with a get her pay.

After what seemed like hours, but was acctualy a few minutes, Saphira jumped off the roof and casually walked in.

January 11th, 2005, 9:03 PM
Oh great I thought, I've been heard. What to do? What to do?
My mind was working a mile a second, and still, I could think of nothing to get myself out of this situation. Although there was something, I prefered using it only as a last resort. I just hope it never comes to that as it makes me feel weak.
I began thinking through my options, cautious not to be seen, and I thought, why not take them out one by one?
They'd massacre me that's why! Although....

January 12th, 2005, 11:19 AM
Saphira strode across the room, to where the man was standing. In an instant, her gun was pointed at his head. The man dropped his glass, caught off gaurd by Saphira. The rest of the scene wasnt pretty.

After a few minutes Saphira walked out of the bar, and walked away, as if nothing had happened.

January 12th, 2005, 2:13 PM
I was standing outside a large Club, hired as a security guard for the night, Oredered to kill anyone that attempted to pass with an invitation. There was a large get together, and I had the feeling it was of a frightful sort, because of the crowd i had ushered inside. Many wanted criminals had gathered here, although i didn't know or want to know why.

January 12th, 2005, 2:15 PM
"Found anything" I snapped. Nine heads shook in unison. "Fine, we're leaving. I don't have all day" I replied. Something aside from the noise seemed amiss. "We'll blast the place once we're clear" I added, turning on my heel and entering the airlock leading to my ship, the Baptismal.

January 12th, 2005, 2:22 PM
I stood watch for a while before finally for the first time tonight, someone pulled up who i didn't want to see. Law enforcement, only one the only who patroled this entire planet, and he had stumbled upon the club... by accident? I think not, he was tipped off.

January 12th, 2005, 2:33 PM
Me and my crew had gathereed near enough to hear him say he is going to blast the docks. "****, this is going ot make things difficult." I muttered.

"Wadda we do boss?" Mace asked. " If htey blow the docks there is no way we'll get in touch with our contact."

"DOn't you think I know that?" I snapped in frustration. "WE're giong ot have to hold them off somehow. Gatling, get under their ship and rupture the fuel line. Mace, jam the controls on their air lock. And sabre, start a comotion we're going ot keep that ship from taking off if it takes us all night." The men nodded and quickly set about their business. Gatling ran up underneath the ship and with a laser sword, began cutting away at the fuel lines, sending their coolant and fuel into a pool underneath. Mace ran up to the air lock, used his hacking skills to bypass all security, and started to open it. When it was half open, he literally through a monkey wrench into the works, shorting out the servos and making it halt half open half closed. Sabre, meanwhile, was throwing rocks at the front viewport.

January 12th, 2005, 3:31 PM
They're leaving? Why are they leaving? It doesn't make sense to me....I thought.

They had all begun boarding the ship and I was still without any leads on this to be crime. I knew it would be with them though. All I needed was solid proof.
But how to get it though?
I have enough weapons, it would be easy to sneak on board and just stowaway a bit...Then again, there's the offchance I'm caught and killed.
Although the first one seemed like more fun, one of the consequences drove me to believe it best just to go back, and explain everything to my suoperiors later.
I was never one for backing down though.
As soon as they all seemed to have gotten on board, I made my move. They'd never even suspect someone had stowed away.

January 12th, 2005, 3:35 PM
Mace stared as this strange guy ran right by him as if he didn't see him and through the half open air lock.

"boss, who was that guy?" he asked me.

"heck if I know. Just get out of there. They'll notice the loss of fuel and air pressure when they take off, but we don't want to be anywhere near their launch cradle when they do. Move out!"

"Yessir!" All three nodded. we pulled back to a safer distance and crouched behind a stack of crates, watching the ship with bated breath.

January 12th, 2005, 3:36 PM
'Awww, ****" I moaned, kicking the half-open door. From what I could see, the ship looked to have been sabatoged as well. I might still be able to salvage this though, there were a few decent vessels at the shipyard here. Drawing my blaster pistol, I signed with the other hand Get ready to run. Reachin into the airlock, I fired three shots at the slowly increaing fuel. The superheated plasma ignited the fuel as I took off at a full sprint. It wouldn't be long before the flames reached the fuel resivoirs, munitions, and other flammable materials.

January 12th, 2005, 3:51 PM
"Is that lunatic scuttling his ship?!" I said in disbelief. True, the guys did some damage, but nothing a trustworthy repairman couldn't fix. But to scuttle the whole ship. "We better get back." I whispered. "THis has even more trouble written all over for it." we turned and hurried back to the ship.

January 13th, 2005, 2:53 PM
Saphira watched as a Law Enforcement car pulled up.

Oh, ****... She thought, taking quicker strides. Saphira looked as calm as possible, smiling and humming quietly to herself.

January 13th, 2005, 5:51 PM
I growled as the copper walked out of his car and closer to the club, "You work here" He asked. I was silent, I was ordered not to say, only to kill. So i did I grabbed him and snapped his neck. He fell to the ground in agony twitching.

January 13th, 2005, 6:09 PM
Saphira raised her eyebrows as she watched some guy kill some other guy. Dang... She thought, inhaling sharply, Too bad for him.

January 13th, 2005, 6:33 PM

ooc: That didn't really seem plausible, considering a cop would just let you snap his neck? And since when does a bouncer who doesn't liek rough crowds kills on orders? Add a bit more reality to your posts.

January 14th, 2005, 9:55 AM
Alright one im like 9 feet tall and totally muscular, two I'm standing guard outside of the largest collection of villians like ever, my orders are slightly different than that of an average bouncer...

January 14th, 2005, 12:15 PM
no but he wanted to critique my posting sytle so i told him what was true

I then took the cop's body and threw it into a large trash disposial, which were common public items these days. I then returned to my spot and returned to guarding.

January 14th, 2005, 1:46 PM
ooc: ooookay...

ic: Saphira jumped as the cops body flew in the trash, and stepped back for a sec. Why did that guy kill the other guy? She wondered, shaking her head, not paying attention where she was walking, There was no reason to...
