I feel Ash should get a Steel type. I think he needs to get something like the Klink line. Klink would be pretty awesome.
Flash Cannon is an absolute must on Klink.

For Ash to get Cryogonal and Iris to get Vanillite she would need to get over her fear of Ice types which could play an important role in the episode they're captured in.
