  • Due to upcoming exams, my revision schedule hotting up, and the fact that this takes about two hours to write every Sunday, this blog column thing is going on hiatus until the beginning of June. I apologise to the two people who read this. Below are the Twitter reviews I made during the week, but just by themselves.

In the mean time, as the US TV season comes to an end, I've been thinking about getting into some shows that I missed when they started and never bothered to catch up on. I'm definitely going to start watching The Vampire Diaries and Cougar Town, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears!

    -~-~-~

TREME S02E02 (B+): More preachy than last week but also home to kickass montages, Davis' family and people stealing stuff from Sonny. Great!

HIMYM S06E22 (B): Lily, Robin and the effects of different alcohols = match made in heaven. Rest of the ep: not so much.

THOR (B-): Goofy fun, even when it doesn't want to be. Asgard overwrought, riddled w/clichés. Earth filled with peppy Portman and Hemsworth.

GLEE (B+): Fondue for Two, wonderful. Crossroads, horrible. Kids > Will = good ep. Residual Fleetwood Mac affections NO bearing on grade.

SOUTH PARK S15E02 (C): Ehh... despite the presence of Funnybot, it just wasn't funny. Can the comedy award paradox really destroy a robot?

MODERN FAMILY S02E21 (B): Nice moments in all three storylines, but MitchCam's doesn't connect as well, and PhilJay's slight, on the whole.

COMMUNITY S02E23 (A): It's paintball. Any grade less would be sacrilege! Still, it more than deserves it, what with Josh Holloway and all...

PARKS & REC S03E12 (B+): Ron's birthday surprise worth waiting for, and Leslie's rivalry good, but slightly unbelievable, to be honest.

30 ROCK S05E23 (A-): Surprisingly, it's Jenna who has the best storyline, though Kenneth's Avery impression very good. Gavel, gavel, gavel!

BIG BANG S04E22 (B+): Surprisingly nimble handling of plot and character development. Still ends perfunctorily, but lots of fun beforehand.

COLD WEATHER (A-): Slow to start, but gripping when it gets going. FARGO-esque in places, with thumping score and great location usage.

DOCTOR WHO S06E03 (B+): Surprisingly dark and poignant for a standalone ep. Nice blend of history, sci-fi and storyline chronology. Bravo.

  • THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! <3

It's funny how you mention that, because for one, ever since Thursday, it's constantly been on my mind. Secondly, I'm about to watch the first episode of the first season since I don't feel like doing anything else at the moment.

I hope you enjoy it, because it's a really good series. I thank Nick for introducing me to it.

  • I though DW was surprisingly good, too. Hooray for lowered expectations. How would I ever be surprised without them?
