So, for quite a few months now, my bosses have known that in September, I plan to take eight days off to visit family in Wisconsin. It'll be the only opportunity I have this year as I want to work during the Christmas season. Good hours, mostly, and I don't think I'll get approved for the vacation time. Plus I don't want to pay to fly and idk if my sister would want to drive it. But yeah, they're cool about it and planned ahead for it, ect.
It's just that one of my co-workers is a big fat jerk.
It's football season here in town, and during gamedays, we get busy. Four people can run the store during those times -- we can take care of $400-$500 hours easy. However, next weekend is a home game, and there's only four other people that can work during the weekend besides me. My bosses have commented they're worried about the weekend but that they should be able to scrape by.
Today, I got a text message from my boss saying "Coworker X didn't show up for his shift. Apparently his aunt didn't want to drive him. Also he quit." Over a text message. Sent not to the manages, but to a fellow co-worker. He didn't even bother to call.
I swear to god, if I don't get vacation because a co-worker quit five days before I planned on going on vacation, I am going to be so. angry. And then burst into tears.
I want to see my family, damnit. It's my great-grandma's 90th birthday party next Saturday. I want to be there, because I seriously have no idea next time I'll be able to see my extended family in Wisconsin. And I am going to be upset beyond words if I can't make it because one of my co-workers quit right before I left.
I mean seriously, couldn't he have waited until after I got back???
I know my bosses will try everything they can to get me on vacation but I am so afraid they won't be able to get anyone to cover that day and that the district manager will un-approve my vacation hours and force me to work that weekend.
...I need a hug. T_T
Well I guess I'll find out tomorrow what their plan is. Fingers crossed that it'll be good news.
