Sometimes, I think about this, to some degree: "what if there was no such thing as depression and other mental illnesses"... not to be horrible or anything, but that would be..different. And probably creepy if everyone were a picture of happiness all the time. Just, imagine for a second, a world without complex emotions, the things that make us different.
I don't know how to describe this, but it would be monotonous. If everyone were exactly the same, then none of us would be, uh, "human" I guess. I don't know.
Basically, what I'm saying is, humanity is complex, and taking away some of complexity would make us simplistic creatures. If technology hadn't evolved, I'm wondering how different our world would be right now, as well. IT's a lot to think about.
