How to I change the picture/text under my name?

The picture is called an avatar. To change it, go into your control panel (User CP) and click Edit Avatar. Now, you may choose from one of our preselected avatars, or if you have at least one post, you may upload an image from your computer or point to an image elsewhere that will be stored on our server locally for your personal use.

The text under your name is called your usertitle. To change it, go into your control panel and click Edit Profile. There you should see a box for "Custom User Text." Type in what you would like your usertitle to say and then submit. Be aware, however, that certain words are not allowed in usertitles and will automatically be "censored." (One such word is "mod," as in "moderator" to avoid any confusion between members and moderators.)

Why can't I post?

If you can only post in the "Community Questions & Feedback" forum, then you need to do one of two things.

  1. Open your e-mail and check to see if you have received an e-mail from PC. If you have then follow the activation link provided in the e-mail, and you should be able to post in all the forums.
  2. If you didn't get the email for some reason or another (perhaps an error was made when you input your e-mail during registration) then just PM one of the Assistant Administrators or Administrators about it. They will change your usergroup for you so you will be able to post.

Why aren't images showing up?
If you are running Norton Internet Security 2003, disable it and try again. If this resolves the problem, its built in image blocking function is the reason. It is unknown why it blocks images from PokéCommunity, as it is supposedly supposed to block "inappropriate" images. How to disable this function isn't known either, so you will have to either change firewalls or do your own research on the subject of disabling it. It's recommended not to shut it off while visiting the community as it can open up your computer to a world of trouble.
Also, some images linked to may no longer be available or missing. There is nothing that can be done for this kind of error. (if it's YOUR image, check the host of that image, make sure the URL os correct and that the image is still there)

How do I get pictures into my signature?
First of all, in order to display an image in your signature, the image must be hosted on the internet. It cannot be on your own hard drive because then only you would be able to see it. A good place for hosting images is Photobucket, though there are other places too if you search.

Once you have the image on the internet, get the URL of the image and place it between the IMG tags like this:

You may also upload a signature image using the Upload Signature Picture found near the bottom of the edit signature screen. You may upload a (as in one) new custom image from either the web or your hard using the controls found there.
Make sure you do not overcrowd your signature with images, though. Please keep it within the signature guide limits as found in the Signature Rules.

Why won't my post count go up?

If you made a few posts and your post count didn't go up. Then you likely posted in a forum where posts don't count (in other words, it isn't added to your total post count).

Forums like "Pokémon Trivia", "Other Trivia," and "Trade Corner" don't add to your total post count. Any forum which does not add to your postcount will have such a warning in its description.

I can't log out! Can you help me?
There is something wrong with the cookies every so often, so there are two methods you can use to log out. You can either use this option, then close all browsers (restarting will do this), and finally try to get back on. You should be logged out. If you aren't, try clearing your cookies and cache manually. Search Google or ask in the Technology forum.

How do I change my name?
Username changes are permitted on PC. If you'd like one, you can request it here. Please make sure that you have carefully read through all of the information in the first post before you ask for a name change.

What's with the + signs next to member names on the Who's Online box?
When you add someone to your Buddy List (in your User CP) a plus sign "+" will appear next to their names, making it easier to find them.

Why is the picture in my signature is showing up as a link?
This could be because you are linking to an attachment on this or another vBulletin-based message board. Using vB3 software, one can no longer use attachments and/or directly link to them in the image tags or otherwise. If you would like to use the image, find an online image host. Photobucket is recommended.

How do I get paired up?
The action of pairing is often when two forum members, usually good friends, get together. This can either be in a romantic way (as in, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.) or as a platonic way to show friendship. People often write who they're paired with in their signatures. To pair, PM or contact the person whom you would like to pair with and if you mutually agree on it, you can post in this thread to record it.

Where can I find the RSS feed?

The administrator may have enabled RSS syndication, this allows you to view newly created threads in guest viewable forums without visiting the board.

The feeds are currently provided in two formats, RSS and RSS v2. The differences are as follows:

  • RSS 0.91 - This feed is based on a standard written by netscape and provides a link and the title of the thread.
  • RSS 2.0 - This feed contains title, author, date and the contents of the first post of the thread.

To add this to MyYahoo click here.

The forums to which this applies can also be limited to specific guest viewable forums by adding another parameter to the URL containing the forumids as follows:

If you would like the content to be generated for multiple forums you can separate the forumids by commas.

Why does the "Who's Online" page sometimes leave out information?
There are certain forums on PC that aren't visible to everyone. The staff forums are one such example, as are the Community Supporter forums. When someone is viewing a forum or a thread you don't have access to, it'll simply say "Viewing Forum" or "Viewing Thread" instead of showing the name, like usual.
