Here is where you can discuss the start of the Floaroma Contest and a childhood friend of Dawn's in "Getting the Pre-Contest Titters."

My review to come forthwith. Sorry for lateness.

I still find the title a bit strange. When I heard of the name being said by Ash it was kinda strange. Teeheehee

I think that this was a good introduction episode for one of Dawn's new rivils. Still I kinda expected a bit more from Princpulp and Pipulp though. Maybe in the next coming episode we can see a good fight. Teeheehee

Is it just me but in Diamond and Pearl Team Rocket has been acting more as true villains? I mean first of all James and Meowth were trying cut Princpulp's neck with Sirviper's Poison Tail.

After seeing that episode before I was all awed out. Teeheehee

I was in awe too hehe. Team Rocket finally get the bad guy image for a change but wow when I saw that scene I was thinking: " omg, this is getting epic" lol. And Piplup learned a new move! Surprizing why would the writers give it Whirlpool of all water moves? I mean Whirlpool is not a bad move but still... Looks like Dawn his a new rival, so I can tell that next weekend its going to be a piplup vs prinpup battle. I am getting excited lol. If that is how it turns out my eyes will be glued to the t.v.

Now that we're getting close to the next ribbon (and probably the first one Dawn has a shot at since she has some experience now), it figures that we would have the traditional episode to introduce the person she's going to have to beat. On the other hand, who could have expected that it would be a childhood friend of Dawn's (I smell a shipping here....)? The original discussion was fine, but I just wish that Ash would start bringing up how he's been travelling for a while. I thought everybody laughing at her was kind of funny, too, actually.

Then comes Team Rocket, and Jessie's plan...and she gave James custody over Seviper & Dustox. SHE GAVE JAMES HER POKEMON. Almost always it's the other way around. They have to go and pick the Pokemon nearest Ash & co., too. The ensuing battle was actually unique in how it gave TR a leg up for a moment there. I could have sworn that Piplup had just learned Mirror Coat instead of Whirlpool, though, judging by how they presented it.

Finally, the contest. Another little note for shippers and Dawn off to a bad start. I have not seen the Japanese episodes, but I bet you that she pulls out one of those Poffins first thing next episode.

Anyone find it odd that Dawn wanted to flirt with Kenny? The prior girls never really cared to initiate such things so brazenly (although, May started to at the end of Hoenn-onward).

Anyway, Dawn's foibles is addressed so nicely here. And actually, it perfectly explains her confident character: to cover the kid of the past. Curious if that will return to bite her in the future. Also, on that note, good to see her "Need Not Worry" or the Japanese equivalent being poked as well.

And Ash returns his share on some of her recent bickering/chiding, so win-win. Or about time.

As for the Rockets, nice to see Seviper/Dustox acquire some interaction, and the role reversal. I love the groveling at the end. Heh.

And like you all, I had assumed Mirror Coat at Piplup's deus ex machina Move. And like Fire Spin in the anime, the anime Whirlpool is way more powerful than it is in actuality. Bah.

Lastly, funny how this Kenny hadn't had a reference prior. However, since Dawn is still a new character at this point, I'll let it slide. Beats the writing set-up of Drew/Samantha (the chick from the Kanto Grand Festival if I get her dub name wrong), that's for sure.

And is it me, was Dawn being a little psyched right before she blasted off the Rockets? Hmm...

I'll close with "curse you, cliffhanger!" Shakes fist.

One item I forgot on was how the bubbles exploded after Prinplup landed in typical anime pose. I would have thought if they would popped and that's it? Don't buy a bubble-blower in the Pokemon world anymore. Yeesh.

Man, I missed this episode because it was thundering and the power went off. What was the Japanese equivilant of "Pikari"?

Edit: I looked it up on Bulbapedia and it was Dee Dee! WTF, why Dee Dee, that's kinda retarded. That doesn't really go with Pikari. Dee Dee Dee (Carlos Menica.)

I took also like how Seviper and Dustox got some action in this episode. Just a day before this episode was shown I was thinking how underused Dustox have been. I mean he was used in some episodes like Gymbaliar but before and after that episode I can't really remember when Dustox recieved so much attention or use since the episode before this one which was in the battle of Oh Do You Know the Poffin Plan?. Then Seviper haven't really done much then the just Haze and Poison Tail before it has to blast off along with the rest of Team Rocket. I am just glad that Seviper and Dustox are finally getting some attention from Jessie. Still kinda funny how Dustox was originally meant to be her contest pokemon back in Hoenn. Teeheehee

As of the Whirlpool thing. I really didn't think Piplup was learning Mirror Coat. I was more thinking Surf or Brine? To me Whirlpool was kinda random but I guess it could be intresting for the upcoming contest and future ones. Still kinda a copy on Torchic/Combustken? Piplup and torchic? Peck and peck? Fire Spin and Whirlpool? Still I guess it is a nice change. I hope to see more of this later and how it can be used.

Also I guess Poffin will play an important role in future episodes I hope. I mean it isn't as cool looking as Pokeblock but I just hope it doesn't kinda just fade away. I mean Pokeblock was kinda countinued thoughout the Hoenn arc like before the Lilycove contest and with Munchlax.

Teeheehee I guess this is a bit more then my last post in here. Now I am a bit more focus after seeing the episode again by itself. Teeheehee The episode before this one was just so good. Teeheehee

-I don't like Kenny, he seems kind of boring compared to Drew and Harley.

OMG I hope not. I can just imagine all the Remarkable men running around saying "Remarkable!" to each other. Its not nice. He's made me flinch everytime he's said "Remarkable" since Battle Frontier. And its NOT because of the voices. Someone give him a dictionary.

I think there's just one of both of them, since contests is their thing I suppose they travel around. Uh...well I suppose there's one in every region LOL.

Seviper had an episode devoted to it and Treecko back in Hoenn, and it's had its fair share of time in the spotlight since then (Heheh, I still remember its first Contest...). Dustox, on the other hand...it's been used some, but not as much as it should have been, especially being the only one on their team knowing a Psychic attack (something Ash actually has no defense against type-wise)...

I'll pick JLU instead, thank you very much.

To me Kenny is okies but he isn't as decorated as Harley and Drew was. I mean Drew had that flar where he acted and sounded better then everybody while Harley, well, teeheeheehee He had his charm. Teeheehee

Kenny on the other hand seems to just have dirty dirt on Dawn and her past. Also I am kinda disappointed on his choice of pokemon being the evolve form of piplup. Still I guess this kinda closes off the idea of piplup evovling for now.

I agree with Ichi about how Dustox isn't as used as much as it could have. I mean wasn't the whole point of Dustox was to be Jessie's main contest pokemon but really it rarely sees any contest since it's debut and I think in the next one with the Rainbow Poison Sting. Since then it been spotlighted in great Team Rocket's battles like Is That a Ralts I Hear and Caterpie's Big Dilemma! Kinda sad that it has taken like this many seasons before it actually gain on contest spotlight.
