  • It's a really great theme for a pokémon game, it could become some sort of world crisis because of the genetic abuse.

Pokémon did have clones (mewtwo), DNA related pokémon (Ditto, eevee), genetically modified (Genesect)... But they never were the theme of a game's story.
It could be another battle between wrong and right - N could be back in this Gen if people we're messing with pokémon's DNA or cloning.

  • Well, in the Pokemon Direct announcement, Iwata was really pressing the whole "evolution" theme; he continuously mentioned the "evolution" of Pokemon as a franchise and the way the games had "evolved". I think it's possible that it's just another scheme to get to a new target audience; pressing the theme of evolution is sure to grab the interest of some new players. It's still possible that it means something else, though.

  • If this game is related to genetics, do you think the DNA Splicers from B2W2 could make a return? Maybe we'll have more Pokemon fusions? Like Venustoise!

  • DNA: Cross-breed, Splices, Fusion?

this just popped in my mind right now.
since we are talking about how Pokemon X and Y is all about DNA (which is unofficial as of yet)

do you ever think of them adding more fusion?
DNA splicing, cross-breeding are my top list of words when it comes to DNA, so yeah, it might be possible right?

Do you think so too? Y or why X(why or why not(as represented by X) X:cheeky:
if yes, Which pokemons do you think will make a good fusion duo? :)

I'm so happy you brought this up, I've been wishing for it since I discover cross-species breeding.

As of good fusions... I haven't really thought about it yet... Maybe Meowth and Skitty, or something of the sort. Imagine a girly, pink version of a meowth with the fingered tail? That's be great for me, at least.

    Or Zigzagoon and Arcanine?

I guess I'm dreaming too much.

  • Well, the cross breeding I could think of would be tauros and miltank. Then they'd have a baby pre-evo of both of them, where the female evolved into miltank and the male evolved into tauros.

I don't think they'll do any of this cross breeding thing though. The female will probably always be the one that determines which species the offspring will be.

  • these might be dreaming too much, but the probability is very high, since fusion was kinda then introduced in 5th gen via BW2

    but then again..

    maybe (BULB LIGHTS UP)!

Team Villain will use DNA splicing, Cross-Breeding in their evil schemes that defy nature, and inhuman, and illegal in the pokemon world so the hero decides to stop them. lol (my imagination's gone crazy)

as for a good fusion, maybe err, i can't realy think of something.
    maybe Pachirisu + Zubat? -__-

i like the Skitty+Meowth Idea. two of my favorite pokemons :)

I don't think they'll do any of this cross breeding thing though. The female will probably always be the one that determines which species the offspring will be.

thiss. so splicing would be more viable.

which brings us again to the whole illegal villain act XD

About the Tauros and Miltank pre-evolutions, I've seen a video with those, the males turn into Tauros and the females into Miltank, and they're really cute.

How about a Vaporeon or Gyarados corss-bred with... uh... something to have the outcome of a mermaid-like pokemon? I'd love that! It would keep the tail and ears and color of Vaporeon, but it'd have hands like the other humanoid pokemon.

How about a Luxray/Arcanine baby? It'll be awesome to have a striped Luxray! I'd give up my event Jirachi for one!

  • They might introduce a species that's defined as a cross between something and something else (you know, like: "Splicemon, the Genetic Pokemon"), but I don't think they'll introduce mechanics that let you, the player, splice two Pokemon of your choosing together. At most I would think they'd have some way of breeding two Pokemon together and getting either in an egg, but even that I wouldn't expect.

I wouldn't like other fusions. I get the Kyurem thing, since it's what's left of the dragon that split into Zekrom and Reshiram.
Speaking of fusions... Look at shelmet and karrablast! They kinda fuse when we trade one for the other. Karrablast gets shelmet's "helmet" :P So maybe, Gen 5 is trying to get us used to the idea!
But I love each pokémon's uniqueness, even garbodor xD

  • it'd maybe possible they add something to breeding mechanics, that you get a cross-breed at a rate as thin as seeing a shiny pokemon,

and yes, i don't really see gamefreak letting us fuse together whichever we want, maybe two related species, or two mutually beneficial species together, that's my highest bet.

  • Hahah, your fusion ideas reminded me of this "pokémon" from pokéfarm:

    EDIT: It's called Aqua-Shinx. It's obviously a shinx mixed with buizel :P

    The Return of Mewtwo

With this x and y chromosome theme floating around, would it not be out of the question that we see a return of Mewtwo, quite possibly as an enemy of some sort. He was cloned after all.

This could be crazy speculation, but I felt the need to make a thread and discuss it.

I disagree. Mewtwo was only a part of Gen I. Gen I was about the journey to become the champion, beating team rocket... Catching them all :P

The theme of Gen 1 was technology and genetics. There are a lot of references you can check online regarding the thematic direction of each generation.

Anyway, I do think Mewtwo could make a return, and I think that would be REALLY exciting. And, afterall, Deoxys is the DNA Pokemon. So, he could be in this game as well, and somehow tie in to the RSE remakes.

  • I think Mewtwo and Mew can have the potential of making a return with the theme of genetics. I mean, in the game, what do we actually know about Mewtwo other than it was man-made from Mew's genes, and that it was designed to be the ultimate fighting machine? I mean, aside from the anime, I think that maybe they can show more of Mewtwo's own personal feelings and own willpower. Well, I guess the question of the day might be, would Mewtwo influence the Gen 6's legendary pokemon? And will Mew make a brief scene as well? There's kiiind of not that much we know about Mew as well; he's suggested to be the 'ancestor' of all pokemon and supposedly has the genes of all pokemon because it can learn every move.

There can be cool stuff they can do with that~!
