"WORK IN PROGRESS"

Hey, I'm Anastasia. I'm a full time art student who loves memes, making people laugh, and making food. I thought this would be a nice place to post my "to-do's" and things I want to get done this year. I need to get a lot done because I felt like my 2016 year was lackluster and I was overfilled with fear to fail. After coming back from a trip and starting my second semester, I feel like it's a good time to get a list going. I hopefully want to use this thread for the future, so I didn't title my thread just 2017 goals. Like with all pieces in art, there's a lot of progress work before you get to your final piece - and I want to remind myself that for this year - I'll be a better artist and person with progress and planning. Anyway, thanks for reading and thanks in advance if you decide to check up on me or help me reach my goals!

2017

2/20/17 - Start Thread

Career & Art Goals

Get an Internship || Game Studio or Editorial based

- Contact two Boston based studios (one has no deadline / other I need to apply in summer)
- Contact two California based studios (before summer starts)
- Look for and contact 3 editorial based internships in Boston Area

Schedule my time better || Actually sit down and put more time into work instead of panicking last minute

- do +3 hours a day on all finishing pieces (finals, not thumbnails or process work)
- put more thought into composition (open to time suggestions!)
- +30 mins extra on research and pay attention to concepts more

Make a professional website || Actual Portfolio w animation and illustration work

- Have it worked on towards end of semester because I'll have finished work to pick from

Make more finished pieces (10)|| Concept art, Pixel Art, Character designs, ...

- Try a 30 day challenge for one month and post it online

Make a mini zine || Mini comic seems promising and doable for me

Study Stuff that intimidates me || Ya gurl needs to risk it more - I want to do at least two before 2018

Animate on my own time || I just declared myself an animation minor before 2017 so, I wanna git gud
- Find Challenges
- Find a way to do 'master studies'

Learn to make and use a Patreon site || I'm open to suggestions if Patreon is not the best place, but I need some money as I work my butt off while being a full time student

Non-Art Goals

Work on Self Confidence || Because I gotta believe in myself

- I want to speak up more so I'm working in class to say at least 5 things in critiques

Follow through w/ schedules and promises || because I have the tendency to talk the talk but not walk the walk enough (would love some advice!)

- get myself in a habit to write ideas down more

Learn to handle my depression and anxiety better|| because I gotta work without panicking

- Look for a therapist before summer ends

Being more active || Less related to weight loss, but my work has me sitting down most of the time

- Take walks (+20 mins a day)
- Use yoga mat to do exercises & yoga (+20 mins a day)
- Exercise 3 times a week and then add a day gradually

Learning Coding and or Programming || At least a lil bit? I have no idea where to start or look for sources - would love for some help!

Spend more time with friends || I NEED TO TALK TO PEOPLE

- Schedule lunches and dinners to make with friends

- pay attention to local events to invite people

Start learning another Language || It will take time and practice but I want to try

- Spanish - easier for me to practice since my parents are fluent in Spanish (I just need to push them to talk to me in Spanish)

- Japanese - I'd like to learn how to speak it more than write, but I don't have a lot of resource or someone to practice with

Would be nice | Not as focused on | Possibly later goals
