  • I'm glad to be of help, friend! I do love story-driven hacks, so let me know how it goes and if ya need anything else.
I do like it! I think it is an improvement. However, I do recommend expanding the dimensions of the map eeever so slightly larger, like maybe by 4x4 more, just so you can shift the right-side rock formation down and over so the player does have a bit of breathing room. Aesthetically speaking, I think it looks fine, but in the sense of playability, in-game, the player might feel a little constricted in the tight spaces. Generally speaking, you want to avoid having one or two tile walkways, as it feels a little tight. I normally stick to three or more, but sometimes a situation calls for a two-tile wide walkway. The additional room would, in addition to having a slightly more spacious walkway, put you in a better position to adjust the path, maybe shorten it so that the grass is mandatory. As it stands right now, I could walk clear through this entire map and reach my objective, and yet not touch one blade of wild grass. This isn't necessarily a problem, but it's just something I'm always a little careful of. Because you never know a player might see JUST the Pokemon they like in the grass, but due to human nature wanting to expend as minimal effort as possible, they'd avoid the grass completely, y'know? But, all in all, this map is looking pretty good.

In fact, one more thing, that sign on the left-hand side seems a touch out of place. I mean, it's a man-made sign, put there with purpose, yet completely surrounded by wild grass, like no one's been there in a hot minute. What I would recommend doing with that would be to place the sign next to the main entrance(as I'm imagining it's a sign about the cave, "Mount Whatever Ahead, be safe." kinda deal). But, it might appear clunky, so I what I would do further is to go into the block editor and create a small tile with the sign on the up-section and the mountain tile on the down section so it seems almost as if the sign was embedded into the mountain. It'd be a small, tiny detail, but it'd be unique. You'd be surprised on how the little details matter significantly. Hell, on my own hack, all I've really done in terms of tiles is an easy block-edit that made it so I could have diagonal fire red trees, and someone legitimately asked me if they could have permission to use my tiles. It's the very tiny, often overlooked details that will REALLY bring about a sense of uniqueness that'll make someone almost forget that it's a ROM hack. They might not notice it right away, but they'll subconsciously make a note of it, I promise.
Let me know if you need any help or clarification! I'm always very happy to help people. :) I'd also like to see progress, let's make this map perfect.
Hi! I'm very impressed with your progress as a beginning mapper. However, with your map, I do recommend you make the entrance to the very bottom make it a bit more winding. As it stands, it's a very straight line, and, in a natural sense, it's very unlikely that a natural mountain produced such a straight line for someone to pass through. How I recommend doing so is dividing the right-hand mountain into two so it splits into two rock formations with a bit of a windy path between the two. You can link the split portion to the left-hand rock formation. I also recommend adding a few trees into the field of grass, because in terms of accessibility, it's a very open, walkable field. Just a few thoughts.
