I am going to be playing as the female and will be naming her "Sly".

I am going to go with the majority here and agree that it's highly likely the 8 gyms are spread out over different islands. I don't think it is a coincidence that the region is based off Hawaii.

It took me a good 45 minutes of wandering through the grass in Viridian Forest to come across a pikachu. I was starting to get frustrated haha.

9/10 You've got a great overall theme going there. I like it.

I used Mudkip on my first run through because I always go with the water starter the first time. However I just picked torchic for my second run through.
