I'm not doubting you, just haven't participated in Pokémon fangaming communities for years, and am drastically out of the loop.
I've never heard of anyone specifically disliking Game Maker. I believe RPG Maker is more used simply because of Essentials.
A very popular Pokémon fangame from the last decade, Pokémon GoldenSky, was developed using Game Maker.
This is disgusting. It's unfortunate that copyright trolls can take down years of volunteer work so easily.
As I'm making my own engine that uses some Essentials components, I'm directly dependent on the documentation the wiki had. I should've saved the relevant pages locally.

Did anyone make a finished pack of static front/back sprites from 6th gen? I only found 64x64 sprites. I'm looking for sprites in RMXP format or 80x80 (HGSS size).
Well, I might be wrong, but I see many more hacks (and high-quality ones) now than I used to see in ~2009.
IMO the scene looks healthy and it won't disappear any time soon.
