For those interested; finally got the time to try the basics out, and the principle works beautifully so far.
That said, early game is ludicrously hard; my Torchic stands zero chance of beating May's Mudkip unless I get right in there and EV train it 'til it can. The simplest solution I can...
Jfc. All that's left is changing the experience formula and filling in the new level-up xp numbers, for each growth pattern and you've basically made the hack entirely by yourself; balancing and such is basically up to each hack author after all. Touched, you truly are a wizard. Only possible...
Touched you are a saint. I'm curious as to how you're pulling these offsets out so quickly; has this all been documented before, or are you just that good?
I'd forgotten how twisty that stuff is... may require further consideration. Dropping the static level to 50 would be simpler, but would probably only diminish the problem and could create new ones.
...hopefully there's documentation on messing with the damage formula. Looks like just changing...
Well shit. That's... very simple. I don't suppose you have the offsets for Emerald offhand?
Regardless, just leaves xp calculation to modify. As far as early-game slowness goes... wouldn't be hard to rearrange early movesets to include some STABs, or just start at level 7 or whatever things...
You've got a lot of solid points here. Best I can offer is that self-imposed challenges, like those Nuzlocke players take on, will take on a different flavor here and hopefully be easier to do; for example, I have no doubt that just about any half-decent pokemon player could beat the braindead...
Because an important part of playing pokemon is feeling like your team is growing and improving under your direction, imo. It's obviously entirely an opinion thing, but keeping at least some part of that core gameplay aspect, improving your pokemon through battle, would be important for me to...
While that solution does circumvent the issue of changing stat calculation, it does not circumvent the issue with levels dictating success rather than choice of pokemon and how you wield them, so to speak. Which means past areas are going to be vastly underleveled by comparison, requiring once...
I can see the reason behind a lot of what you said, but bottom line here is that I'm not looking at making Showdown the Adventure, but instead improving the experience of the game we know and love while changing as little as possible. Battle is not the be-all, end-all of pokemon, not for me and...
I'm very glad you like the idea. If I had any idea how to do this I would in a heartbeat; was toying with the idea when I first started dabbling in hacks about a year ago, but couldn't find any documentation about where the relevant offsets might be, and I've almost no idea where I would begin...
As with many who've grown up with the series, starting all the way back in Pokemon Yellow, I stomped my way through every game up to Emerald by virtue of simply throwing my starter out in every battle and being horrifically overleveled. After delving into communities here and there and seeing...
I'd already updated typenames to the new pointer and set numberoftypes = 19; should've mentioned that earlier. Tried setting it to 22 as well after a suggestion from ShyRayq, the OP of that guide, no luck. I'm wondering if the issue is with Emerald itself - I've tried a couple different...
I think the ease of use that comes with this tool is one of its best features. So glad amazing people like you exist.
Currently, I'm working on implementing Fairy into Emerald without replacing a type, working as best I can based off of the tutorial for Fire Red. I think I've got it, but I...
Simple questions, huh?
Is there any progress on the front of implementing Mega-Evolutions into 3rd gen games as of yet? Asking this as someone pretty new to this community. My first instinct is to think it wouldn't be overwhelmingly difficult if we could make use of the code for Castform's...
Extremely helpful, thank you. Lurker emerging, here, as he finally gets his first hack off the ground.
Emerald is indeed different. Enough that it took me a fair few hours in between House of Cards to hammer out the details. LCCoolJ95 here was kind enough to present the offsets for the Image...
