Not to be rude or a downer, but do you have any evidence of this being the case? I don't see anywhere that gives credit to the original creators of those sprites or even anywhere that denotes that they aren't in fact yours.
Currently making sprites of some Pokemon I came up with, designing a region map and starting on the soundtrack. Next up I have to actually make the battle system functional.
I typically come up with some rough estimations based on the route, the routes before it and the level/exp curve. I then test it to see how playable it is and get feedback from others on the level balancing (others being a few designated testers) and go from there.
Working on a menu system for m'game. It's still a work in progress (I haven't even done the other pages of the status screen!). And also the battle interface.
The boy in both of the shots looks really badly shaded and his eyes are copy pasted, which looks rather disturbing. The other two are nice though, and your mapping is pretty good for the style!
No no, not at all. This is good! However, you don't want to have too much set in stone before you start, as too much rigidity won't allow you to flex and improve later on if you decide you don't like something or want to add something in.
So in short (because clearly that was very long)...
With the vast majority of users sporting monitors of a resolution bigger than 1024x768 I don't believe this to be an issue. If they have a monitor smaller than that, chances are the hardware would not be capable of running the game at all to begin with.
