    ips for xp works perfectly fine under WINE for Linux. Tis what I use to patch, and I have no issues, unless I screw up. zophar dot net has the patcher there. Try that. I was able to play Beta 1.0 under it. EDIT: And Linux doesn't get Viruses from WINE. Really don't know where you got that from...
