I'm out of the loop, myself. I've been seeing a lot of people leaving over the last couple of days (including a very good friend of mine, whom I'm still trying to get in touch with), and I've been seeing comments about the site dying. What's going on? :frown:
Kris, the Odd Egg, a more fleshed-out Suicune story, the GS Ball, and Bank compatibility are all very good reasons to play Crystal over HGSS. That, and the fact that HGSS cost an arm and a leg nowadays.
(That being said, Polished Crystal is still the very best version of Gen 2. :tongue-poke: )...
RBY and GSC. The franchise was at the peak of its popularity, competitive battling didn't exist outside of small (and easily avoidable) internet circles, the games had yet to introduce "save the world" plots, and god Pokémon didn't exist yet, nor did Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, and Ultra Beasts...
Nope, the movies are considered canon, at least up through M19. It's not common, but the show did reference the movies a few times over the course of its run.
NOPE!
Amourshipping was always a one-sided deal, right to the very end. Serena may have had a crush on Ash, but he never once showed the same interest in her. She may have kissed him, but he never kissed her back. It's not any more "canon" than these kisses were:
As long as Ash remains...
This. ^ ^ ^ ^
Ash is always and forever going to remain the same prepubescent 10 year old who never wins any Leagues and always ditches his Pokémon and friends at the end of every region. Trying to ship him with people has become a waste of time because no Ash ship has even the slightest...
Kris is my #1, always and forever.
First female protagonist, and she has an awesome design, to boot. Always loved her dark blue hair and spiky pigtails, and her outfit's sleek and sporty, yet still comfortable and practical. This is a girl who's ready to go out on an adventure, kick Team...
It all goes back to the way the show views these girls as disposable "eye candy." As long as they keep swapping them out every new saga, fans will only continue to fight over them and pit them against each other. :(
I feel your pain on what a disappointment this so-called "20th anniversary" has been. :( While the newest games did do some interesting things with storytelling, Alola still feels like a half-baked filler region (ie. more akin to the Orange Islands than Kanto or Johto) that was quickly thrown...
If it's true, then I'm officially done with the games. I'm tired of distant reboot regions, "Kanto pandering" that never goes beyond minor Easter Eggs and tired Charizard/Mewtwo/Pikachu shilling, and minimal-to-zero continuity.
The Spain/Italy idea is almost certain to be another game like...
Actually, just Gen 2. The Gen 7 Box Legends are still a trio (Solgaleo/Lunala/Necrozma), with the third one both causing conflict AND being a Dragon type, just as we've seen in every gen since Gen 3.
What I want is a game where the Box Legends aren't a trio, aren't Dragons, and have lore...
A while back, a friend of mine brought up the idea of a region based on Chubu. It borders both of the regions Kanto and Johto are based on, which makes it a great setting for a Kanto/Johto sequel.
Ideally, its new Pokémon roster would follow the spirit of Gen 2, ie. around 100 new Pokémon, a...
However, if Gen 8 is a Kanto/Johto sequel, then we could see seasons return there. The part of Japan they're based on has a moderate four season climate (ie. hot, humid summers and slightly cold, unstable winters -- very similar to the Mid-Atlantic US, IMO), and we've even seen hints of...
That feature was probably meant to be a nod to Yellow, which was indirectly linked to HGSS due to being the direct prequel of GSC.
However, to bring up another Gen 4 example, DP did bring back Day/Night after the Gen 3 games had watered it down to nothing (and scrapped it altogether in FRLG)...
From what I've noticed, there seems to be an inverse relationship between linearity and storytelling in this franchise.
RBY and GSC had fairly barebones plots, but gameplay was actually pretty open by Pokémon standards.
In RBY, Surge, Erika, Koga, and Sabrina could be fought in any order...
