I tried to patch with firered 1.1 and it said it was an invalid file

The game looks great. I started playing it then stopped because I want to play it solely to catch every pokemon but because there's no cheats enabled in the game and money is a difficult constraint that feels near impossible without putting an impossible amount of time into the game.

This is my first time trying to make a rom hack. I'm not trying to do anything huge with it as far as story goes. I just want to make a rom that has every pokemon from gens 1-8 able to be caught, maybe gen 9 depending on how long this process takes. I'm having tremendous difficulty trying to do...
