I have a penchant for getting starters, then forgetting about them for the second pokemon I catch. The pidgies and ratattas at the beginning are the best to level up and train in the beginning. Not just for the pokedex, but for the Elite four as well. I seriously believe that they (the Elite 4) do not have pokemon suited to fight the basics! But, that's probably just me. lol
