I think you should get it. I had to wait a long time to get mine and it was an excruciating time period. There are quite a few major changes like rogoku mentioned and the Pokemon are mainly different to Pt since it's two completely different regions.

Shinies don't matter to me, quite a few of them look hideous in my opinion so I don't soft reset for anything unless I accidentally KO'd a legendary or unique Pokemon
