Consider me an Pokemon Professor in training - I don't like battling beyond what is necessary to complete the games, and I do that by over-training my Pokemon so the NPCs don't have a chance. I like collecting, categorizing, and generally being buddies with them like an ethical zookeeper. I have a "permanent collection" of Pokemon with nicknames who stick with me across all the games (thanks Pokemon HOME for making that easy!), so I feel a close connection with at least one of every Pokemon in the Dex.
