    Quite correct! The 's' should be lower-case, as the brackets are serving as quotation marks. I'm pretty much backing most of the rest of bobandbill's post here, as it pretty much covers all the bases. The gloomy atmosphere comes off pretty well and the story is very well-constructed thus far...
